What are the best headlights to blind normies? Xenon, Halogen, LED? We weigh the pros and cons of each.
>>
>>20389244
It should be punishable by death to have those super bright lights that 100% of new cars for rich people have

Literally blinding and nearly killing 100% of people on the road that drive a car from the 90s

If you want to be a fuck and blind people just buy a cheap light bar on Amazon and bolt it onto your roof. At least then you can turn it on and off and not blind everyone on the road all the time.
>>
>>20389269
Have you ever driven at night? In an older car? It's terrifying any time you go to a wealthy area where people have new cars you're just constantly being blinded.

Also brakes in new cars are way too good and if you have an old car some rich guy is going to brake too quick and you'll end up rear ending him

The balance of old and new cars on the road is horrendous
>>
>>20389261
well just buy a new car those old things from the 90s are outdated and unsafe
>>
>>20389494
You gotta watch newer cars with auto braking when you tailgate. A lot of the systems brake pretty hard and sometimes for no reason. That plus their massive brakes and tires.
>>
>>20389501
Fuck off poor people shouldn't be endangered on the road just because rich people want to be able to see an extra 20 feet
>>
>>20389510
Yep I keep like 5 car lengths at this point in my shit box, my brakes are fine but these new cars are just way different
>>
>>20389494
Why would this be unique to older cars? Some sort of scattering effect?

Not all lightbulbs are made equally - they should be - same as brakes

Everybody should be on even playing field in regards to those things

How does wealth always get brought up when LED bulb kit is like $89.99 on Amazon and blinds the shit out of everyone?

Factory cars aren't even bad unless the lights are aimed too high or you catch them over a hill.

Every truck/SUV becomes a huge nuisance if you're in front of one in anything other than also a truck/SUV. Hell, I'm considering going to the dark side (a truck) just because of this shit.

The 2-mile high stack of LED strobe lights on the Escalade is absolutely fucking ridiculous, period.

Or you can go to Costco and buy the remote-controlled lightbar. It's currently being sold at my local Costco so it's probably available at yours as well.

Literally installed some cheap chinesium "off-road" spot lights in my grill for this reason. I drive around with them off until some fucker blinds me and then I hit the switch and blind him back. I turn them off after I pass them.
They're also great for slow fucks in the left lane on an open highway and for highway driving in the heavy rain. Each one is as bright as a headlight so it doubles my light output.

You can get some pretty cheap cars with factory xenon or led bulbs these days. Or some pretty old cars for cheap too. And you can get illegal HID kits for like $40. They're hardly for rich people.

I've been suffering this for years in my early 2000s shitbox. I drive a pretty long stretch of highway regularly that has about a million little valleys, and every time some cunt in a new SUV comes over a rise I think I'm going to die. So when my headlights finally carked it, I enquired about getting LEDs.
>regular mechanic says for the love of god don't, he installed some on his truck and everyone annihilates him with highbeams because they think his are on
>recommends halogens
So I go to the auto leccy and ask for replacement bulbs. I say I want them a 'little bit' brighter than my old ones and I get a call back after the inspection with
>anon you can have literally the brightest headlights legally available for $100
uh, I said a little bit. Not full nuclear warfare.
>Oh well in that case we can do a pair of halogens as bright as most LEDs on new vehicles for $60
jesus fucking christ how bright is 'legal' in that case? Give me like 75% of led brightness
>That'll be $45 for the pair anon

And holy fuck these things are evil. Went for a drive last night with my gf down the coastal highway and blasted every cunt who came around a corner with their highbeams on. Blasted an LED-equipped SUV that came over a hill too just for the fuck of it. The low beams alone light shit up for nearly 200m.

What the actual fuck is with legal standards for headlights? This shit is just an arms race that you have to participate in or die

I'll one up you, i installed non-cheap non-chinesium LED pods in my car, heres a pic with the amber covers on, and they're i'd guess 10-15x brighter than my high beams, that shit's wild. I just installed it so i have better visibility when driving outside of town, my dad bought a cheap 20" led bar and these are easily more than 5 times brighter than that, and these are only 3x3"

Burly bois, i like it. Why do some people prefer halogen? I got nothing against it, personally i went for these since they have insane light output and i wanted them installed discreetly behind the grille, i've read from some people that halogens have a longer throw but that would probably just differ between the individual lights' bulbs and optics? Mine fit my needs perfectly, i'd say everything is 100% lit up up to 150-200M, and a good amount of light well beyond that, my high beams arent the greatest and i wanted to extend the reach, and as i said these also give a massive amount of light off to the sides too
>also fuck salt
>>
>>20397820
It raining so you can't see it to good but here you go
>>
>>20397844
that actually looks very decent, specially considering that the projectors are so cheap, what bulbs are you using? hids or leds?
>>
>>20397846
One set is 35w hids and the other set is 55w hids
>>
>>20397849
So low beams are 35w and high beams 55w? Looks pretty good from inside and outside the car, i'd love to fit projectors into mine but i cant be arsed, i'd probably permanently fuck up the headlights
>>
>>20397829
Thats a nice set up, very discrete.
I dunno all the data says led is best for output, hid gives greatest throw and halogen is just a compromise basically. I think its the comfy yellow that does it for me, I perceive less eye strain maybe? Drove a mates car with led light bar and while the light was good its just so jarring against the dark of night.
No salt here friend, or snow for that matter
>>
>>20397854
Nope both are low and high beams. All 4 lights turn on with low beams and the projects open for high beams
>>
>>20397858
Thanks, i dig it. I'd probably love having hid or halogen lights, but for the size the output of these is just so good, they're also very, very well made, they're extremely heat and cold resistant, very well made, have an expected lifespan of over 50.000 hours, and a lifetime warranty. I also have the amber covers as you see here >>20397783 which dims the output quite a bit but in snow it's very, very comfy and they're still much brighter than my headlights
>>
>>20397862
Got me confused, which bulbs are 35 and which are 55? Do you have dual projectors in the headlights where one bulb is 35 and the other 55? If its a dual projector i want more pics, IMO one of the coolest mods you can do on a bmw, almost always looks great along with getting insane light output
>>
>>20397867
Oh shit I thought they were different cars and the snow one had em externally lol. Yeah the yellow cover is maximum comfy. What are they?

What makes the most piss yellow colour.

White lights should be banned, they are dangerous during winter when it's snowing. Especially white daytime running lights. Then imagine them in a white car.
>>
>>20397895
And led lights don't generate enough heat to melt snow covering them. Even if you clean them from snow before driving like you should, they slowly cover up in snow during driving.
