How do tuscans / sagaris deal with -10 celsius.
What kind of cornering I should expect? Plan on tracking them so that is kind of important.
Are they reliable? What are the biggest issues.
Above everything are they fun?

>How do tuscans / sagaris deal with -10 celsius.
Not sure, I had mine in a heated garage. I didn't baby them, but I did look after them and that meant very little winter driving.

>What kind of cornering I should expect? Plan on tracking them so that is kind of important.
Entirely depends on which one you get. They're all lairy. Even the Sagaris, which is easily the best handling, is still a handful. If you're after a track weapon look elsewhere - it's far better to think of them as an English Viper than a Caterham competitor. You certainly can race them, but it's an expensive hobby and for a road sport car it's a bit of a waste.

That said, if you are into that there are numerous companies out there that will help you with race prep and give free advice. Which brings me onto the next point.

>Are they reliable?
For what you're getting, yes. You're looking at a car that weighs less than a MK4 Fiesta with over 400bhp at the crank. They're not as well built as more mainstream efforts, but mechanically they're usually sound and if something does go wrong it's generally quite cheap. Cerbs are the most expensive to keep running, but considerably less than an M3 of the same money. The community is *excellent*, to the point where people will offer to come and help for free. It's a very good club to be in. Try doing that with the Porsche lot. I have, and it didn't work.

Chimaeras are reliable. So are Griffiths. Both can be easily repaired because of the sort of parts they use and neither will cost you much to run. Look into late models of either and avoid the 5.0 on the Chim, it's too cammy. 4.5 is the sweet spot. For Cerberas get a V8 (I had a Red Rose, which I sold two years ago) because whilst the Six is fast they're the same money, really.

>Above everything are they fun?
Oh, yes. Licence losing fun. 185 and climbing between Bournemouth and Southampton fun. Vague steering in the wet near Hawes fun.
>>
>>20232592
I'll expand on the fun since I probably bored you to death with talk of flat plane cranks and heated garages.

It's like driving a go-kart when you're a kid for the first time. The kart is light, you're lighter, and you don't have the fear. The power comes on instantly and you can hear and feel it. You can smell it, too, and because you're sat low down it intensifies further. If you're like me and were addicted at that point in your life, driving a TVR is like that.

Other people will not get it. Your girlfriend/wife will complain. Friends won't know what it is. Some might, but they'll have heard it's fatal/unreliable/stupid/glow in the dark/whatever. People who drive BMWs and Porsches will stand on their tiptoes and look up through their car branded orange sunglasses at you with disgust. None of it will matter, because you can spin the rears in 4th and you set car alarms off driving through town centres.

as for a fun fact I am actually daily driving my old m3 right now, and love british automotive industry to pieces it's so childlike and loveble, reminds me of Italian companies a bit.
>>

Is TVR the british version of the viper?
>>
>>20232592
I sadly don't have a heated garage but an underground one should do, the winter driving might be a problem but vey I am the guy trying to daily sports car
>>20232713
yes.
>>
>>20232717
There are more than a few people who have daily driven Caterhams. Apparently it’s like having a very practical motorbike.

I wouldn’t daily drive a TVR but ultimately a Chim is just a Rover V8, a tough five speed and some fibreglass so it really can’t go that wrong.

Generally speaking, I6 engines are heavier than a comparable (in output) V8, so it's an upgrade. I know a pushrod V-ate might seem gross, but the Brits have a long heritage of having way too big American V8 engines in their lithe sportscars - and who's going to complain about 600+ reliable HP?

I'd say that is pennies for a car like that, but yes £7k is still a fair chunk of cash. When you consider that you could get a new Dacia Sandero, or a Bentley, it is a bit silly how cheap they are

Running them is another matter entirely of course

Go for an XKR instead. For a couple
Thousand more you get a more robust transmission and engine and more powaaaaahhh. If you can afford a car from 2003 -2006 (4.2L V8) model years you will have solid and reliable car.

If you opt for ‘96 - ‘02 make sure of the following:
Timing chain tensioners have been replaced with the metal 3rd gen tensioners.
Water pump has been replaced with one with a metal impeller.
If Na: Thermostat housing tower has been upgraded to metal instead of plastic.

On all models: look for rust in rear wheel arches, specially where it snows; Does the car look like it has been lowered in the front but not the rear? It needs new shock mounts. You can see they have degraded right from the engine bay. They’re $145 at Welsh-ent for urethane upgrades. While you’re at it, look to Powerflex for polyurethane bushing upgrades. Budget for a transmission fluid change at about 60,000 miles (manual says sealed for life, don’t fall for that crap). Make sure cooling system hoses are relatively new. If they’re not, budget for new hoses. There are a set of heater hoses, infamously known as the octopus and the valley hoses. They are a pain to remove because of the tight area.
You should also do a supercharger fluid change if it is an XKR. It is easy to DIY and it is cheap.
