/CCG/-Classic Cars General
Rollover protection edition.

In the last episode:
>Cutlass' shit heap arrived
>Crownon's shit heap hasn't died yet
>We discuss dogs like cultured gentlemen
>if I ever fall on hard luck, i push the white shit on the streets like a salt truck

>Cars are considered "classic" at 25 years old, but a vehicle really needs that certain something to be classic.
>Everybody has their own taste, but some tastes are wrong. If you aren't sure if your car is classic or not, it's not.
>American, European, Japanese, or whatever.
>HOWEVER, your Honda Miata doesn't count as a classic yet. 80s+ Hondas are better suited for their own generals as well. Everything else is fair game.
>Post your classic, your work on it, your hackery, and get advice.
>Any and all discussion about classics welcome, but may not necessarily generate responses; don't get butthurt.
>Period correct performance > cosmetics.
>Metal > plastic.
>Classic shitbox > modern shitbox.
>It's required to use RTV. Ignore the haters.
>JBweld can fix almost anything
>If you see rust there is probably more.
>Rust and bodywork are by far the most difficult thing to repair.
>Electrical work is second most difficult, unless you stop reading forum posts and buy a multimeter.
>You're never actually going to finish that engine swap, stop pretending
>Do NOT buy a classic and plan to pay somebody to work on it. You need to be able to do 90% or greater of the work or you will go broke.
>You will inevitably spend twice your budget, unless you have years of experience under your belt. If all the salty old hands agree, it's probably true.
>No one cares about your MPG

Real classics and traditional cars require money and or some actual knowledge of cars. Two things lacking on /o/.
>>
Is a 1991 Volvo 240 wagon considered a classic to /CCG/?
>>
>>20087616
If that were my car and that happened, I would want to die in the wreck.

Otherwise; making progress with the Lincoln. It goes to the transmission shop next week.

I've been building the Dodge body for my touring car; discussed relocating the steering to fore of the engine.

Rolls will go to the shop because too many projects.

Edsel getting 460.

Rebuilding 440 for Plymouth.

Whats it going into?

>>20087622
I know, but that kinda seems counter productive when all I want is a cruiser. Qjet is obviously the way to go, just wish they didn't cost so damn much.

>Fuck that gasket, I'll make my own!
I used a 1 sided sticky foam tape. Leftover from sealing door ways from my apartment/house. Never had to replace it and it was exposed to the elements, and having a door drag across it constantly, I'm positive it'll work in place of a gasket to keep it from moving too much.

in the last month:

have foamy condensation in the vacuum hose for the pcv and the dipstick. intake gasket also leaks like a siv.

bought the gasket for $7 but really want to toss an EFI head and manifolds on for the full effect.

front wheel bearing went out though and I have to get to it first.

took it on a little hill climb and plugged a fuel filter. cleaned it out in a parking lot and plugged it again in ~500 miles.

she'll be right

could oil being too thin be cause for loud valvtrain clackity clack?
>>
>>20087782
Engine knocking is primarily fuel related. If the car had not got its oil changed in normal intervals then lifters are gummed up. Oil not flowing forms sludge.

>>
>>20087841
>>20087895
It's a fresh rebuild with new lifters. I've had it idling for maybe 20 minutes; how long does it take for the lifters to fill up? The fuel was kinda nasty but I put a few gallons of premium in it. As for the valve lash, the rockers are non adjustable, buy I am wondering if I torqued them in the proper sequence. There was no solid info online. The manual had a diagram with a mark on the damper to line up before torquing them all, but I'm using an aftermarket balancer.

I'm 90% sure the sound is the valve train though

>implying homosex is more degenerate than sex dolls
>>
>>20087754
I loved the head crush maximum threads
>>
>>20088008
Lux needs to keep in mind that in California, being gay is the norm.

Here, y'all have a read as y'all fight to be the ultimate Anon.

My son is a hateful incel (not mine) https://imgur.com/gallery/CLH0gJz
>>
>>20088029
The only reason its the norm is because people like being different without any actual talents. You'll see shit like people saying they're Bi but will only date girls or guys going on tinder looking for guys that will be their pretend Bf for brownie points. It's rediculous here.
>>
>>20087982
It only take a couple minutes but lifters will need to break in. It will probably sound like a sewing machine for about a thousand miles. There's also the possibility that you got the wrong length pushrods if it's really noisy.

>>20088008
Consider for a moment the logic behind that. Homosexuality is absoutely contrary to the natural order and has no logical function, purpose, or reason for existing. It is a mental disorder. A sex doll is just a giant sex toy. Everybody masturbates. I just do it with all the bells and whistles. I know you're a califag (literally), but there's a reason that liberal shit hole is collapsing.

>>20088021
They were pretty great. That's actually where I got that picture from.

>>20088029
I don't know if there's a second part to that or not, are there multiple images? Most guys who own sex dolls aren't incels though.
>>
>>20088116
>will sound like a sewing machine for 1000 miles
That makes me feel a little better.
>pushrods
I had totally forgotten about pushrod length. They are stock length and the base circle on the cam is same as stock, buy I should probably measure pushrod length just in case. I had slightly longer than stock before with a custom grind cam, but I switched in an off the shelf one.
>>
>>20088116
Homosexuality has existed for the entirety of recorded human history and exists in a number of other species. Sex dolls are a creation by sex starved hedonists that can’t get their fill the normal way.
>>
>>20088116
>that liberal shithole is collapsing
That liberal shithole is prolapseing
Heh. Had to make the joke

My favorite post in the head crush maximum thread was what i call the wetback blender. An 80s chevy truck with a camper shell picked up a group of illegals at the border and took them to the highway where they were intercepted by border patrol. They fled and later rolled with 13 occupants ejecting many of the people in the truck, natually nobody was wearing a seatbelt
>>
>>20088116
Quite a few. But TL;DR: anon refuses to wash, sniffs his little sisters underwear, corners a 13 year old girl, call his mom a sand niggers, and general anon stuff. I guess it's supposed to be a sad read, but I find it hilarious.

>302 with 3.54's and 33"s
no

thought about a 351, turned into a 408, turned into a couple of 6.9's sitting on the ground outside my boss's shop
>>
>>20088136
If they're both stock, cam and pushrod, it's probably fine.

>>20088139
Length of existence is a strawman argument. It proves nothing morally.
>get their fill the normal way
Been there, done that, not going back. The cost of pussy in the current year is too fucking high. It can take everything from you if you're unlucky. Man, why do you guys get so fucking triggered by sex dolls? Are you against pocket pussies too? What about porn? It's only been created in the last 100 years as well. Where do you draw the line with hedonism?

>>20088145
Top kek. And holy shit, that ended badly. I looked up 78 and 79 broncos. One entry was a rollover, and head crush minimum (brain stem severance). There were some good ones I found myself though.

>>
>>20088172
Well it's a chunky cam, but the base circle should be the same as stock. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Soon I'll have webms for you guys. Maybe... I've been trouble shooting this engine for a long ass time, and it's finally running almost right.
>>
>>20088029
I just read the entire thing. wow, the cringe
>>
>>20088173
it was cheaper than renting a uhaul every weekend for 3 months, now 6 months because i got to move twice. everything past that is just icing on my cake
>>
>>20088175
It's not natural. Just because it's existed forever. It is a perversion of the natural order. Everything to do with love between the two sexes is all a biproduct of the natural order. Homosexuality has no place in the natural order. Yeah sex dolls aren't natural, but it's a representation of the natural order. You also conveniently dodged the point about sex toys and porn, so I know you're full of shit. I know you feel compelled to shame men who reject the current social contract between men and women, because you're such a giant white knight mangina, but the deal is shit. And deep down you know it. Trying to shame people with sex dolls won't work but go ahead keep calling me an incel.

>>20088188
If it's a high lift/duration cam, you may need different length pushrods. What engine? I have a 99 corvette. I had to redo the top end a few years ago. I had visibly bent pushrods from over revving. Kek. So I got new ones. If you know your cam specs, a machine shop or even online somewhere should be able to tell you what length you need. As for break in, for flat tappet lifters, you're supposed to immediately rev to 3k rpms for a few minutes. I have hydraulic rollers so I didn't have to. I just drove it easy for a hundred miles and then easily brought it up into high rpms on the highway for a few minutes. The did a mix of easy and hard driving for 1000 miles. My valve train still sounds like a sewing machine to this day. But that's normal for LS engines with high lift cams. They're just noisy.
>>
>>20088235
You’re literally afraid of women my man
>>
>>20088235
>What engine
360 magnum. It's a roller so I don't have to worry too much about making toast out of my cam. .510/.512 advertised lift .282/.282 duration. I've been posting on here every once in a while for like a year. It feels like it's finally coming together, but I don't want to speak too soon. I've had my optimism crushed so many times with this build lol
>>
>>20088252
Not him but women are scary dude.
>>
>>20088260
I don't know off the top of my head what length pushrod you'll need but you will probably need shorter ones. As long as it's just sewing machine noise, it's probably not too bad but if you figure out they are too long, you'll want to do it eventually.

>>20088265
Not really. Once you understand how they operate, they're easy to deal with. The legal and social power they have in the confines of sexual encounters and relationships is what's scary.
>>
>>20088287
Yeah you’re afraid of women

/dbt/ is one of my main generals, that's mentally ill.
This is just a bit gay.

>>20088308
That being good or bad, idk.
Never really come in the general cause I didn't have a classic til like a month ago.
I'm definitely an old school guy tho. Old cars are so much simpler and easier than new shit. Not that I don't like new shit.

Side note: I'd totally buy a doll if I had that kind of dosh to throw around.
>>
Hope my car is considered "classic" chevy g20 van, the pics i have are too large to post but ill get around to it if i still see this thread up.
My jerkoff friend redlined it in park and by the time i got to him and slapped him across the face he'd been doin it for about a minute and blew a head gasket.
Gonna be changing it this weekend, its my first time doing such a job but im not doing it alone. Ive heard such good things about chevy 350s and i dont wanna let this one go, it was running like a dream until this. Wish me luck
>>
>>20088327
What classic did you pick up?
/Dbt/ is cool too
>>
>>20088326
Very likely. I think it also has to do with the shear amount of effeminate men in California. You probably havent noticed in texas. When i get out of my firebird everyone looks. I think its alot of attention seeking for the most part. They want to be associated with it. That might have something to do with it
>>

>>
>>20088347
Its all matte black with chrome bumpers and crimson interior and i put some nasty looking green shag in the back with a couch i built. Ill get pics up this weekend. So sad to see coolant spilling from the exhaust and under the engine

>>
>>20088410
Wait which one was kit Kat?
>>
>>20088397
Not entirely sure yet.
When I get back, it's going to be my dd until I fix my other car.
I'm thinking just a restomod. It was my grandads, and I got if after he died. And all he wanted to do was that.
But there's like 5 couriers for sale in my area. One guy has 3 of them, all original owner, and all kinda shitty, the highest price one is $1k. I'm thinking of picking them all up as parts, then taking one and doing a speed build.
I have a particular soft spot for classic mini trucks. And the Courier especially for sentimental reasons.
>>
>>20088462
It sounds like you know where you're going, and you have the space for projects. Fun times ahead. A buddy of mine has been looking at Datsun 620s lately.
Do grandpa proud, Anon.
>>
>>20088477
I don't really have the space, but I friend has some acreage in the back country that I can store some vehicles on.
And I'm using his garage to work on everything.
Made a fairly large life change in Oct and got kinda stagnant cause my depression kicked back in, but I think I'm getting over it. Just need to find a job now.

Btw, 620's are kick ass. Always wanted on. Back in high school there was one for sale up the street from me. But life.
I have 4 mini trucks I want. Courier, LUV, 620(520 if I can get my hands on one), and 70's Toyota
>>
>>20088433

>mfw I'm just a simple normie mechanic
>>
>>20088519
I feel you, man. I'm falling into old habits myself. But throwing yourself into a new project like that courier you picked up can be great for some people.
Yeah classic mini trucks are cool as hell. The luv and the 620 are probably my favs. I want to get one, but if I got a truck it'd probably be a C10 or d100. I have come to love the v8, and I'm not ready to tackle that kind of swap in one of those.

nah its more tripfagging, samefagging and avatarfagging: the general. All the guys here just jerk themselves over their own cars in a self absorbed way so its pretty tedious coming back here and seeing the same shit time and time again
>>
>>20088674
If people in this general didn't talk about their cars, what would you suggest they talk about?
>>
>>20088260

I'm guessing it's probably pushrod length if it is the valvetrain. When I put new heads on the 360 after my swap (typical cracks), I put in new lifters, quiet as could be.

Did you let them soak in oil before putting them in? I've always done that, my dad taught it to me.
>>
>>20087638

Sorry we don't have money for classic Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Tiramasus.
>>
>>20088689
The lifters we're soaked for maybe a half hour. But if had it idling for maybe a few minutes at a time and I figured they should be filled up. But pushrod length will be checked soon
>>
>>20088678
As we have established we can talk about the gay, sex dolls, hating women, venting about personal problems and talking shit in general.
>>
>>20088678
idk, but every time a new car is mentioned its glossed over and they force their own cars into the conversation for compliments. You criticize their build and they churn canned responses trying to look cool. Not a single guy here is capable of an original comment or can lend interest to another car outside of their incredibly limited interests long enough to actually be called a conversation

Javelin fag here, been lazy all week and haven't worked on my car at all. Been cold in the morning after work and just plain tired, so I've been saying fuck it.

But I'll bump this thread with my other shitbox, my '87 Dakota that I redid for my first vehicle. I've had it for almost 13 years now, I originally bought it from the junkyard for $550.

Originally had the 2.2L 4 banger, as of 2015 now has a 5.9L Magnum V8 swapped in from a 2000 Ram. Stock internals, shorty headers and switched to carburetor. Literally no room for a fan in the engine bay, so it has a pusher fan mounted between the grille and rad.

Trans is out of a '91 Dakota with overdrive, switched from computer triggering to vacuum triggered.

Seats out of a '94 Plymouth Acclaim, steering wheel out of a '74 Dart, custom floor shift. Wheels are 70s Charger Magnum 500s I bought for $50, sandblasted and repainted.

Not pictured is the white letter tires I put on this year. Fun as hell, sounds great, but gets no traction if you stuff it, at least not until about 35 mph. So yeah, it doesn't need any more power than its got.
>>
>>20089503
Sounds like a cool build, but why do it for a Dakota? I'm bias as I dislike small trucks though, so I guess I don't understand.
>>
Not mine, my uncles, but I though you might find it interesting.
He's been working on it for damn near 20 years, and I swear to god it has never gotten any further than this.
Every time I come over, this is what it looks like. But to his credit there always seems to be a another smaller side project too.

How many people still own the first vehicle they ever had? It has a lot of sentimental value to me for that reason as well as the fact my dad and I pieced it together to get it on the road.

The trans exploded behind the 4 banger, and it was a rare piece to find. As in, I could only find one in a 200 mile radius, and they wanted $1500. And it needed rebuilt. So we did this instead, which was a rather easy and straightforward swap.

All told, I think I spent maybe a hair over $1k doing this, so its not like I dropped a ton of cash.

Also, I prefer smaller trucks, though you wouldn't believe how many people have told me I should put a lift kit on it with 35 inch swampers. Fuck you very much.

Well now, I ain't no hero, that's understood
All the redemption I can offer, girl, is beneath this dirty hood
With a chance to make it good somehow
Hey, what else can we do now?
Except roll down the window and let the wind blow back your hair
Well, the night's busting open, these two lanes will take us anywhere
>>
>>20089563

Also share my dad's '73 Roadrunner he bought back in 1983 as a graduation gift to himself. Just the base 318, but still a joy to drive. Interior is out of a '75 Sport Fury.

no prob. a holley jet kit would be a good pickup too. those are like 50 bucks though. iirc you have some holleys sitting around too. yeah after messing around with my swap meet holley 750dp, i threw this on and its a lot easier to tune and has some pretty cool features. i totally sound like a shill, but i just like these. my buddy picked one up for his 390fe too, and he convinced me to get one.

>>
>>20090767
well its a bit shorter so youll have to use the dual fuel inlet that comes with it, but otherwise yeah pretty much. you might have to fool around with the float levels a bit too, but it has clear float glass so you can watch and adjust.. swapping jets is less messy because you change through the top instead of popping off the float bowls from the side.

So today was fun (long blog post ahead).

1975 Mini clutch slave cylinder shit the bed and leaked all over. Decided to have the car towed to a friends shop since I couldn't even bleed the line because the bleed screw was seized.

Anyway, call the nearest towing company and they say it'll take about one hour or so to arrive. Now the fun starts:

Nearly 2 hours later I call them and they say the flatbed is on it's way and the driver should be calling me soon. Indeed he does and asks me where I am. I ask him if he has a GPS, he doesn't. Who the fuck in the year 2018 whose job demands you know roads and streets doesn't carry a fucking GPS.

He makes it after another hour and directions. Lo and behold, a Toyota flatbed tow truck screeching and rattling looking like the biggest piece of shit ever, duct tape holding almost everything in place inside the cabin and a foam pad against the battery to keep it from falling out. Guy even pumped his own clutch a few times before jumping out.

Oooh boy.

So we set out to pull the car from the basement garage with the winch. I found out at that time that I didn't have a tow hook so we strapped the winch to the front wheel axle.

After a bit of scary creaking both from the car and the truck, the car makes it up and is loaded into the flatbed. We drive off to the shop.

Once we get there, we start the unload. At this point I think the tow truck is rattling even more or I'm more aware, seriously sounds like timing belt skipped a few teeth.

He lowers the flat bed, unhooks the car, and releases the handbrake. He then climbs out and starts rolling the car off with the winch. It is at this point that the winch fails and the car rolls off the bed completely loose.

I SOMEHOW managed to jump into the car through the window, legs dangling, and pull hard on the handbrake stopping it 1 foot away from an SUV.

Thank god I left the fucking window open and the car only weighs 650kg.

There's only one downside I can see to Coastie switching to a qjet, and that's him not really being well-versed in carbs. Qjets are a bit more complicated to set up than say your average Holley or Edelbrock. This is why they gained the incorrect reputation of not being a good carb for racing. Demonfag boomers often refer to them as "quadrabogs". That being said, what's the matter with the current Holley he has? Why not work on that one?
>>20087671
They're not that expensive. https://www.smicarburetor.com/products/sfID1/28/sfID2/9/sfID3/100
Btw, qjets are basically self-metering when it comes to air, so you don't have to worry about it being too big for your application if you can only get an 800 or 850. This extra capacity will also futureproof you somewhat if you decide to upgrade the motor.

like everyone said get a quadrajet made for your engine(76-79 pmd 400)
since your a tard and will probably cause a fire with something so trivial chevy quadrajets the fuel inlet is passenger side while BOP are straight in front. most will flow 750cfm, a few buick, pontiac and 80's truck will do 800. 81 and later excluding some truck will have tps and mcs, and very last of truck had dual accel pump solenoid but no tps. 80's may also have capped idle mixture D shape head screws.

jets, rods, needle/seat, float and apt scew are all internal. only outside adjustment are uncapped idle mixture screws, idle speed screw, choke fast idle screw, and secondary air valve door spring. apt screw you can pop out plug in airhorn to adjust but are generally factory set. capped idle mixture screws can be cut with care not to damage base throttle plate

I'm trying to put together a fool proof plan to keep from getting divorce raped in case I do find a woman to settle down with. The big problem is that it takes years to see a woman's true colors. She'll be a chameleon and play the part of your ideal partner until she gets tired of it. Took my ex about 3 years.

Never hurts to mention it. Did your job ever mention any guidelines for raises for ase's?
>>
>>20092290
No they didn't ever mention it. My work is notorious for underpaying though. I was warned by the other mechanics before I started. They make like 18 bucks an hour and are doing heavy line work dropping transmissions rebuilding motors and so on. But they're illegal beaners though with no certs or paperwork so they're at the mercy of the shop. I started at 14.50 because I was a scrub with 3 months experience and no certs but I mean now I'm sure I'm worth more
>>
>>20092449
Don't ask don't get, right? Although I will say that if you hold out until you have all 8, you may be able to negotiate easier for a higher raise than trying for two smaller raises. When are you planning to take the others?
>>

Well I'm in brakes right now, I still have to take HVAC, the 3 power and performance classes, and advanced electrical then I'll take those other 4 all at once too. I'm not worried about those at all desu. I live breath and sleep power and performance and I did 9 month electrical school in the military. Brakes are easy and I've heard HVAC is easy at least for the 609 idk about the ase
>>
>>20092625
If you can pass the ASE HVAC you can pass the 609. Its not that hard at all. I had my 609 license years before I got the ASE HVAC.

I did a th350 r/r about a year ago with a new TCI unit and did a flush and filter probably under 3k too. It had quite a bit of metal in the pan, probably the size of a nickel when I pushed it all together. Fluid was fine and it drove no problem. I chalked it up to break in. A th350 is actually a super simple transmission it's like one Simpson gear set and one band/servo

hey guys who in here knows about detailing old cars?

My uncle has a 1980 corvette he wants me to clean up for him (wash & wax) and the body is fiberglass and the hood has a vinyl wrap on it. Can I just use Meguiars car wash & carnauba wax or will I need specialized products because of the body & wrap?

Thanks
>>
>>20093668
Will you blame me for it not being "ready to go" out of the box? It was completely cleaned and rebuilt a year ago, but will need adjustments.
>>
>>20093702
Obviously!

But really, no. I doubt it got gunked up sitting there, and like you said, probably needs to be dialed in
>>

I just want to say. I'm honestly confused with you confusion of carbs.
Not really hating on you, but they're kinda easy.
Had a 77 C20 with the original Carter on the 350. Ended up doing a rebuild, having never busted open a carb before, and it ran just fine.
Well actually I had a bought an edelbrock beforehand, but some one had suggested doing a rebuild instead so I did. Put the carter back on and still have the edelbrock sitting at my dads house.
Turned out the carb wasn't even an issue tho, hole in the fuel line, cause some mexican PO fucked with it.
>>
>>20093861
I thought I had a decent understanding on carbs in therory, but apparently I don't. >Bigger the CFM, the more fuel/power (if everything is right)
And I thought carbs were essentially universal; right size carb will work on any engine. But Cutlass is insisting that a quadrejet is the only thing that works on a Pontiac, but my Holley works fine (apart from the Holley issues) and some here are split on edlebrocks. All I want is a simple carb that I can slap on, adjust so it's not rich as fuck, and just cruise while getting SLIGHTLY better mpg. I don't care about getting more power or anything, just wanna drive.
>>
>>20093889
>All I want is a simple carb that I can slap on
>and just cruise while getting SLIGHTLY better mpg

SHIGGY DIGGY
>>
>>20093919
Well if I'm wasting more fuel than need be... At least from what I read, people said they got better milage with a 600 vs a 750
>>
>>20093958
mileage is about more than just the CFM rating. The size of the primaries and secondaries is probably the biggest factor in mileage when you’re talking about a carb. You’d want a carb with smaller primaries and larger vacuum actuated secondaries for normal street usage and the best mpg out of a carb
>>
>>20093889
In theory carbs are super simple. But I think your issue is in thinking they're plug and play.
There is some research involved in finding the right carb for the right engine.
Also, personally, I like to use something that somebody else says works. It's no guarantee, but it works in most situations.

One of the other guys in my shop was a professional detailer for years. I'll ask him later today.

>>20094123
No matter how bad it gets, I'll never go gay. I disagree with it on a fundamental level. I would prefer prostitutes but std's and they're pretty expensive. I'm trying to build a shop right now. I paid $650 shipped for my doll and it provides a much needed outlet so I can focus on my goals. The social contract between men and women is fucked beyond belief. Unless you find a true woman, you're going to get fucked one way or another. The only good solution I've found is to withdraw from the game and get a doll, or if you have the dough, fuck prostitutes. I don't have that kind of dough. Then all these fucking mangina white knights start screaming incel at you for doing the only the logical thing. The whole thing is fucked. I did my share of chasing pussy years ago. Getting laid isn't worth it. I wasted a lot of time doing that. Time that could have been better spent building my wealth and skills.
>>

a.) Almost 900 dollars
b.) Ugly as shit
But a company in my local AO makes a gauge cluster that interfaces with the aftermarket ECM and also runs light switches and all that. If I really wanted to be tasteless
>>
i want to set up a switch panel on my dash. anyone know what toggle switches to go with (i kinda want at least one old school looking one with the flippy red thing)? do they have power ratings for voltage? i was going to run a setup for ignition/coil, fan, brake lights, and maybe some other lighting. any resources i should look at? i only know a little bit about wiring
>>
Hey guys anyone here removed their AC box before? You know that shit on the firewall passenger side? My AC is completely inop and I'm thinking of pulling it to have room to work and maybe even mount my efi shit in that spot. Does it just open up the firewall behind the glove box
>>
>>20095961
also interested in this. compressor is one, but i want to pull the vents and heater stuff too.
>>
>>20095965

>>
>>20095862
The toggles themselves are the easy part. And the reg cover is just that, a cover, usually a detachable piece, so you would just add it to the toggle you'd want it on.
The thing that you might have trouble with is the bit of rewiring you'd have to do to make them work. And as far as I know, they don't have a volt rating or anything like that, it should just be completing a circuit, but I'm no expert, so do some research if your worried.
On older cars this is actually easier to do.
Oh, and if you want to look good, you're probably gonna have to do a tiny bit of fab on the interior.
I want to do the same, but I've got other things to work on first. But I still think about. Like if I do up the ignition, do I want to get the type of switch that has three selections for my power/ignition, to have the car on and stuff, or do two separate switches for power and ignition.

So, what car you gonna put it in?
>>
>>20095862
>ignition/coil
Understandable
>fan
OK but why? Why not use a thermostatic switch?
>brake lights
LMAO whut. There's a little switch up above the brake pedal that does this _for_ you.
>and maybe some other lighting.

>>
>>20096062
thermo switch i had*** i didnt like.
>>
>>20096062
I bought a $500 golf once. It had a fan switch, and I wasn't really a... fan. But that may be do the quality of the work and not the switch, cause I had issues with the fan staying on even tho I turned it off. Personally I would prefer a thermo one, but imo a toggle is fan if you don't mind watching your temp.
Also, this gold had a "push start". As in there was a button in a hole, that looked like it was cut with a box cutter. But you still had to turn the key and hold ignition and then push the button at the same time.
Honestly, if you take you time and read up on what you need to do, something like toggles should be easy enough.

Old school darts are cool as shit. I really want one, and I got a friend who has one, but I don't think he'd sell it to me for a price I can afford.
>>
>>20096081
kek. yeah that would be the one big concern with a fan switch; forgetting to turn it on. id take the time to get it looking nice even though the ignition switch would be a temporary fix for some interesting wiring going on under my hood.

depending on where you are, darts can still be picked up for pretty cheap. although in my area theyve steadily been rising and i see some outrageous prices. 67-69 are the coolest looking ones in my opinion. also if youre more after the platform than specifically the dart, check out scamps, dusters, demons, and barracudas.
>>
>>20096098
He's got a 67, the reason I say a price I can't afford is he's almost done building it. I can't entirely remember everything that's been done to it, but it's kick ass. And not that I'm necessarily looking to buy, I already got too much shit. And when it comes to picking a classic, I'm more concerned with design to be honest. I love the way those darts look. Scamp is on my list tho.

Good luck tho. Oh, and you should add some toggles that don't do anything so that when you have a passenger you just start flipping a bunch of shit.
Personally, I'm going to install one that says "ERECT" on it. Don't know if I'll tie it into anything tho.
