This is a thread for bus foamers. Post interesting buses or the last bus your rode. My system opened a new BRT line with electric artic buses but they recently had to take the electric buses out of use because of charging issues.

So how poor are you all? Do you have jobs? Or are you poor because you're students?

Post age, living situation, employment status, and educational status.
Also post any mental/emotional disorders you have to cope with.
I really want to figure out why anyone would be obsessed with something as mundane as public transit.
>>
>>1364803
Fuck off normie. I hope you get hit by a bus.
>>
>>1364803
Not either of them, but I was interested in buses, because I wondered why modern bus has more vibrations going, than good old Ikarus.

Wouldn't it be smarter to have the wheelchair ramp at the second door? At the second door you have space that's not occupied by the bus driver and good space even if it's a swing door instead of a slide door.

Pic related shows the space you can have with a second-door ramp

The wheelchair secure-ment device is right behind the driver as seen in picture. People in wheelchairs can board the bus from the ramp and then secure their chair by themselves. Theoretically the bus driver never needs to leave their seat.
Picture is from 3 minutes in.

Automatic ramps are prone to malfunction and 90% of the time in european buses the bus driver doesn't have to leave the bus to flip the ramp because a passenger will do it for them.
>>

>90% of the time in european buses the bus driver doesn't have to leave the bus to flip the ramp because a passenger will do it for them.
Interesting.
In America I've never seen a ramp that wasn't automatic. As part of the pre-trip inspection before departing for their route bus operators must test the automatic ramp. I've never heard of them being prone to failure. Bus drivers would need to exit their seat to secure the wheelchair so it doesn't roll at an inopportune time and injure the user. There are hooks and straps on most buses but the new BRT buses use a Q-STRAINT device that allows the wheelchair user to secure their chair themselves.

friendly reminder rail is superior to bus. bus reliance is a sign of a poorly planned city.

bus is just a shared mega-cage. it's still a problem and still needs eradication and replacement by the superior transit mode.

Buses aren't mega-cages. They are the cage and every truck and car is just a cagelet. Besides why would I want to ride a filthy train with the public when I can ride in a nice bus with a friendly driver who will speak up and stop misbehavior?
>>
>>1365131
They were malfunctioning as soon as they touched something before being properly pushed out, also it takes longer than flip ramps. and we don't require straps for passengers on buses unless it runs on the autobahn
>>
Barely just made the last bus for like two hours, lads. Feels good.

Got drunk and left my car across town last night.

All the ramps I've seen on UK busses are automatic and usually come from the mid entrance.

Soon retiring bi-articulated buses

They don't have so much capacity over the super-articulated ones (>>1367955) but cost more, so nobody is buying them anymore.

To be fair, these buses are relatively new too. They actually exclusively serve some affluent suburbs who think they're too good for trains.
>>
>>1367983
Wait a moment. In bi-articulated bus driver still has pneumatic valves for doors, not electrical buttons, like micro bus or something?
Lol.

The bus takes an hour to go 20 miles
I've ridden the distance on my bicycle in that time, but that took a lot of effort because it's mostly uphill, there aren't very good shoulders for some of the way, and I missed a lot of red lights. Considering it's a race I was going to I didn't want to waste energy bicycling with my current, heavier steel bicycle, which I ended up riding 5 miles to connect where I got off the bus anyways.
>>
>>1368071
wait no, I rode 9 miles to the start line and 9 miles back after winning the mile*

Those buses are OK, specifically designed bus chasis from Mercedes is really good. Sure, it is 1980's design, but it is good.
But this is fucking awful. Drivers always fly like mad. Chassis is designed for trucks and cargo, not people. It is not transportation, it is fucking roller coaster in amusement park.

To be honest, those are not latin shithole exclusive.

Last bus I rode:
C11 is the only (single-deck) route where I live that hasn't been replaced with shitty cheap Yutong crap. (Apart from the 214, but who the fuck uses the 214?)

>>
>>1376209
These fuckers. Everything feels really cheap and shitty inside, and they rattle and shake at least twice as much as the old diesels they're meant to replace. The only advantage is "muh USB chargers" which are fucking useless on a 10-20 minute bus journey, which is all these fuckers are used for.
>>
