Any of you ever make fictional transit maps? I'm currently working on a map of the Northeast US in an alternate reality where passenger rail was supported in the same way it was in the UK in our timeline, with most of the lines traced over current and former rights of way. Clearly (since there are orphaned stations all over the Virginias, and a multitude of missing stations in New York and Pennsylvania) it's a long way from being done.

Of course.
Did you make that Google MyMap of the Northeast? I meant to bookmark that.
>>

No, that's a completely different guy. He was the one to actually inspire me to make this one, actually. I started in New England, which is why it's the most thoroughly covered, and decided "fuck it, I'm doing the whole Northeast!" I now realize, as I start on the line between Schenectady and Binghamton, several months after I started on the rest of the Northeast, that I may be in over my head on this one.

Is extending the blue line on the T to watertown a stupid idea? Everyone wants the blue and red to connect at Charles and then keep going and I just feel like it's a logical place to extend service to in that direction.
>>
>>1315462
It's not a bad idea at all. However, extending it via Cambridge is a bad idea. Allston/Brighton needs an alternative to the Green B, and I was considering sending the Blue along the Worcester Line ROW to BU where it branches to Watertown Square under US-20, and serving Riverside via Newtonville, still along the Worcester Line ROW, giving the 3 CR stations in Newton more regular service

I tried to re-design RTD's bus system in Denver. I made a thread about it, though the system got mixed reviews.

Pic related is a re-done version of the bus system that I did, with more emphasis on the North. It's probably unrealistic but eh, I had fun designing it at least.

do you have a link to your map?

not the same, but this one has been posted before.

Nope, not yet. I haven't tried to upload it, and I probably won't until it's done in about a year or two. Sorry.

Would a few screenshots of various regions suffice?

There's a site that allows you to create your own subway system. It's pretty simple but also interesting

what i wouldn't give for regular train service to stops in every town on the cape. T service is a joke
>>
>>1317150
It's not just that, it also connects suburbs without having to go through Boston, although the option is there, and probably much more frequent in service.
>T service is a joke
It ain't no Britbong Network Rail, but the Northeast commuter systems are better than just Amtrak, or nothing, which is what a lot of the largest cities in America have.
>>
>>1315052
How do you make these in Google Earth, anon?
>>
>>1318266
So when you open Google Earth, you have a tab labeled "My Places." In the upper bar above the map there's a series of buttons. The ones of importance are the "Add Placemark" and "Add Line" buttons. Left click to place line points, right click or backspace/delete button on the keyboard to delete the point. Go nuts.
>>
Okay I've been fucking around in this program,
still haven't found out how to bend lines since our train lines aren't straight between stations

I mapped and expanded Vancouver's transit lines
Here is my extension of the Expo Line into the Fraser Valley - through Surrey (King George + Fleetwood) to Langley (Centre),
southward I sent to White Rock (Centre) via Newton
from Langley, I mapped a connection north via Corvalth to Maple Meadows (currently a regular train station on the West Coast Express [not sure if it should connect there at all, but I was bothered by the lack of North-South connections on the existing grid and even with future plans)

this is my westward Millennium Line extension to UBC
one that's been discussed A LOT - in fact, Google Maps lists a few stations (VGH, UBC, West PG) that don't even exist yet...mysterious shit. anyway, I incorporated those along with Arbutus (& 4th St.), Fir (& Broadway), through an exising station at City Hall, and a Kingsgate station (at Kingsway & Broadway) where there's discussions to redevelop the current mall, finally connecting with the current line at VCC Clark (I'm thinking this will be underground)

this is a massive east-west line, and transposed with other lines (including one's I made) shows the lack of north-south connections I alluded to
>>
>>1318683
a North Shore Line I drew up
yeah I wanna connect Translink to BC Ferries terminals (and make Compass a payment option)
I'm also wondering whether the NSL should go southward to connect with the WCE or Millennium via Phibbs (nothing yet)
>>
>>1318684
Canada Line + extension to Delta/Tsawwassen. added stations at Ladner, South Delta (theres a bus loop there, but I get that Tsawwassen Mills mall is near yet not near enough), to the ferry terminal via Richmond/Brighouse

I wish you could break down and reuse all the materials from those two stations on Sea Island (SIC and Templeton) cause theres just no fucking reason for them. also, theres no connection between Richmond and Surrey (despite being neighbours) outside of South Van/New West (Expo Line). so many damn considerations.

as for the lines to the ferry terminals, since its very determinate destination, they would run at a different frequency than inner city lines - like every 10 minutes, compared to every 30 minutes (plus traffic) on the bus. perhaps a different gauge and model of car for increased seating/storage (like for luggage)
>>
>>1318598
Thanks, I'll give it a shot.
>>
>>1318686
I'd add a branch to Point Roberts because fuck it, why not? Jut keep it north of the 49th
