I'M NOT FUCKING COPING I'm just trying to tell you that after the investigations come out it will be shown that Boeing has done LITERALLY NOTHING wrong. Their stock is in the green today because smart investors know Boeing will be cleared and are buying the dip.

The only people who are going to be coping are the airbus shills after Boeing gets cleared and shown to have done nothing wrong.

We already know they did something wrong - designing MCAS so that it takes data only from captain's AoA sensor, so basically with no redundancy. (MAX has 2 AoA vanes, airbuses have 4)

I do agree tho that Lion air crash is mainly caused by company culture, bad maintenance and pilots unable to perform memory items, but bad Boeing desing did help too.

Reason for the recent crash are currently unknown, obviously there are some similarities so we'll see.

Boeing certainly has to fix the MCAS issue both by adding redundancy and software/hardware updates. And they are indeed working on that right now.

mcas cannot be fully disabled only if you lower the gear and set the flaps to +1 good luck doing so while crusing at 600-700kts..
There are also flights that reported the plane forcing the nose down that didn't crash.
Manual doesn't mention MCAS at all.

MCAS can be disabled by doing memory items which include switching two trim cutoff switches to 'on' position. that's literally that. or extending the flaps to any position. or just using the electrical trim buttons which are on the freaking streering column (this disables MCAS temporarily - but enough to regain lost control). I'm sure there's also a circuit braker for that. So there are at least 4 ways in which you can disable MCAS while in flight.

Runaway stabiliser memory items were published years before Lion air crash. Every pilot MUST be able to perform memory items at any time, it's an absolute must to pass any pilot exams.
If it's Boeing I ain't going.

1. MCAS is active in Manual Flight, activating A/P will disactivate MCAS.

2. A Flaps setting with isn't 0 will also deactivate MCAS.

3. Landing Gear in the Down Position will also deactivate MCAS.

3. Electrical Trim will override MCAS trim inputs, however if Electrical Trim inputs are not being made, MCAS will Trim Down.

4. Trim Cuttoff will also disable Electrical Trim, meaning that all further trim movements must be made manually using a handle in the trim wheel.

5. MCAS has no obvious circuit breaker, since Boeing has yet to publish their updated manual.

Boeing has grounded its entire global fleet of 737 Max aircraft after investigators uncovered new evidence at the scene of the fatal Ethiopian Airlines crash.

The US plane-maker said it would suspend all 371 of the aircraft.

The Federal Aviation Administration said fresh evidence as well as newly refined satellite data prompted the decision to temporarily ban the jets.

The FAA had previously held out while many countries banned the aircraft.

The crash on Sunday in Addis Ababa killed 157 people.

It was the second fatal Max 8 disaster in five months after one crashed over Indonesia in October, claiming 189 lives.
The FAA has a team investigating the disaster at the Ethiopian Airlines crash site working with the National Transportation Safety Board.

Dan Elwell, acting administrator at the FAA, said on Wednesday: "It became clear to all parties that the track of the Ethiopian Airlines [flight] was very close and behaved very similarly to the Lion Air flight."

He added that "the evidence we found on the ground made it even more likely the flight path was very close to Lion Air's".

President Donald Trump initially announced that the FAA would be making an emergency order following "new information and physical evidence that we've received from the site and from other locations and through a couple of other complaints".

The US is the latest country to suspend the Boeing 737 Max from flying after nations include the UK, the European Union, China, India and Australia all grounded the aircraft.

Up until today, the FAA position was that a review had showed "no systemic performance issues" and that there was no basis for grounding the aircraft.

Earlier on Wednesday, Canada grounded the planes after its transport minister Marc Garneau said he had received new evidence about the crash.

He said that satellite data showed possible similarities between flight patterns of Boeing 737 Max planes operating in Canada and the Ethiopian Airlines plane that crashed.
