Why are electric bicycles still so fucking expensive, pic unrelated
Either everyone buys them and we get to have cheap ones or it will remain a niche market hence more expensive.
>>1273294Because companies like to make a profit.
>>1273313>lightweight>weights the same as a mamachari
>>1273313>hey dongzhu can your malnourished cousin from the countryside come in and hold a bike up for some photos?
Because they're in vogue
>>1273294Because it's a fad niche market aimed mainly at rich people. It'll die out sooner or later like all useless fads.I recommend you just PEDAL YOUR BIKE so you stop being fat.
>>1273294>this is what e-bikes actually are
>>1273331Crutches are a good thing if you're disabled.
>Out for a bike ride>Having the time of my life>Notice some old lady catching up to me>Notice how she sway around on the road uncontrolable>Flies by me at 20-30km/h>Notice the huge battery at the back>Pick up speed and pass her>She tries to speed up more>FallsWhy do old people do this?
Most of the cost is in the battery. Currently a 500wh battery is about $1000 AUD. The worst part about these ebike systems is they are all exceedingly proprietary so you can't just swap in a 3rd party battery.
>>1273294Because you should convert, not buy. If you're poor - you can use lead acid batteries... If you're rich - Tesla 18650 batteries
>>1273367That is BMW syndrome. I don't know either.
Eons ago a teacher from my uni developed his own electric bike moved by solar energy.Pretty much a normal e-bike with a trolley on the back carrying the solar panel and batteries. Shit looked ridiculous.
pic related is an electric bikewould you ride it, anon?
>>1273339>Crutches are a good thing if you're disabled.Being fat and lazy isn't a disability it's just fat and lazy. Fat lazy people should stop being fat and lazy and pedal their own bikes instead of spending thousands of dollars on meme electric bikes that keep allowing them to be fat and lazy.
>>1273384>Because you should convert, not buy.No you should all just pedal your bikes so you don't end up fat and weak, or start pedaling them so you won't continue being fat and weak.
>>1273419I have a non-electric bike that's powered by food. All I have to do is eat enough and I can ride all day long, and I never have to plug it in at night to recharge it, I just have dinner. It's 100% better than any e-bike.
>>1273421e-bikes are gaypedal bikes are goat
>>1273330In countries where cycling is a primary mode of transportation, e-bikes are taking over the market at all but the lowest end. Amerilardland, though, will remain the home of the cager so it will never get reasonably priced e-bikes for commuters.
>>1273421the thumbnail was interesting because it was clean looking until I saw the torque arm on the forking meaning>powered front wheelin the trash it goesIs it really that much to ask for a super simple single speed rear wheel drive ebike with the batteries inside the frame's tubes?
It's really simple, they are still newer tech, & new tech is insanely expensive at first....Secondly, patent trolls charge major fees for licensing, & then of course the investor fags wanna make some grip off you "Firsters" & "Techies".Just like the Apple iPhone did...
>>1273294Ah Gary, the fun eccentric single uncle with beard and a secret stash of a kiddie porn, the male variant of the wine aunt. Do we have a name for these?
>>1273597That's just your average comp sci
>>1273597Isn't that all of us in some years
>>1273294define >fucking expensivebattery, motor and electronic are not for free
>>1273294Pedal your own bike, fatass
