Post your favorite paint schemes
>>1263095Bankruptcy Blue is great, however I think any of the 5 schemes in this pic are superior. Hard to pick a favorite, there were a lot of great schemes running around in the late 1960s and early 70s.
>>1263104Woops, forgot my pic.
>>1263107GN's Big Sky Blue was a short-lived but memorable scheme. Looked especially great on those big F45s.
>>1263165Knowing the history of the SP and its reputation as the quintessential soulless corporate "octopus," this is a great scheme since it really embodies the "monolithic industrial corporation" aesthetic. Arguably Penn Central did it better but with much less character.
>>1263168I don't know why I find these things so fascinating. What do you think, anons?>>1263107Always like the Burlington Northern green scheme when I was a kid. >>1263198>embodies the "monolithic industrial corporation" aestheticWow, yeah it does.
>Simply the bestI loved nothing more than seeing this trains at the old Kyneton station when I was a kid. Orange and Grey is such a great scheme, green highlights top it off.
>>1263829Pic related, Kyneton station in the 90s.Peak cosy.
>>1263854>ywn live in Anarcho-Communist Barcelonawhy live?
>>1263857that's what they asked too, eventually
>>1263857>>1263868No pic for this feel
I really like this paint scheme
I like this more than the red and silver
Little bro of GM-EMD
>>1264378>>1264379Santa Fe pinstripe was superior to both.
>>1263111That scheme fits that unit well.
One of my favourite NZ liveries next to Kiwirail Phase 2
BR should have painted all its steam locos blue, prove me wrong.
>>1267736Brunswick Green on the passenger locos, lined Black on mixed traffic, and plain Black on freight. The only correct answer.Maroon coaches.
>>1263165>>1263198I'll always have a bit of a soft spot for SP just because it's the "local" railroad. I live only a few minutes from what used to be one of their biggest yards. >>1264378>>1264379This was probably gonna be my vote. I know exactly where the second shot was taken, it's about 20 minutes from my house, first one looks pretty close too. I like the red and sliver version a lot too though.
>>1267738>Brunswick Green on the passenger locos, lined Black on mixed traffic, and plain Black on freight. The only correct answer. Maroon coaches.I agree, but Brunswick for local service passenger locos, and Blue for express passenger locos
>>1267736red is way sexier
The blue creme scheme on the first batch EF66 where absolute sex. The JNR creme and maroon is also great.
>>1268311Its Spanish cousin, the RENFE Class 251, in its original livery (which the 251.004 still wears to this day) doesn't look bad either.
>>1263829>>1263830But the blue and gold is such a close contender
How do Americans like what we did to their GM locos?
>>1272347>>1272348Those asymmetrical bogies are really triggering my autism
>>1272347Why is there not a handrail going all the way back along the engineers side?
>>1272370There is. It's the yellow thing
>>1272523It stops just past the back door.
>>1272370Most likely nobody thinks it's necesarry. Keep in mind Croatia is much smaller then let's say Australia. In case of serious work needs to be done the locos roll to the repair shop asap, which is a thing of a few hours.
>>1264579Fucking monsters. I always liked them.
>>1272526Look above it
>>1272601I thought you might be referring to that, but that's just as bad. You should make waist height rail so you have a chance of not going off the side.
>>1272607Be a man anon.
>>1263304They were designed to be fascinating and aesthetic. And also not deathtraps for their crew at grade crossings.
>>1263304because they're the weirdest looking locomotives of the 20th and 21st century. the only thing that comes close is the F59PHI.
Shinkansen 0 series.
>>1276055That Shinkansen looks concerned.
Check out this mod little paint job
The 86 class really had a great aesthetic going on.
Can't beat this livery on a Bulleid Pacific
SPT orange and black
>>1264378I had this in HO when I was a kid. Nostalgia feels.>>1267736Na, you need all those diverse colors. Otherwise what fun would that be?
>>1276055I love these. Much better looking than the new stuff but hey, that's progress.
>>1279187>I had this in HO when I was a kid. Nostalgia feels.Me too. GP40. Every kid with an HO layout probably did, lol
>>1279220True, I think it was part of a train set from life like or tyco.
>>1269197>You came to the wrong neighborhood, motherfucker.
Not my favorite but nice nonetheless
>>1282727Interesting font, how long did that scheme last? Haven't seen much of that one. Was it for passenger locomotives only?
>>1282732I don't know much about it, most SAL locomotives were black and green. I've only seen this on covered wagons so I would presume that's the caseSAL's font is nice too
>>1277401I go on and off it - it looks so toylike, but so optimistic
intercity 125 in swallow livery from when I was a kid.
>>1285261I miss those Valenta screams
>>1263095WHY. DOES. IT. LOOK. SO. GOOD?!
>>1285261African or European?
Hard to imagine a railroad naming itself "Chessie System" today. My favorite livery when I was little
>>1285729its a damn sight better than 711 thats for certain
Best scheme coming through
>>1279187>diverse colors>black or green
>>1285261Sorry, but it's got to be the later one.
Have to say the conrail a/c paint schemes were the best. Believe they were called the “bow wave”. A close second would probably be conrail’s all grey ballast express b32-8s.
>>1297968Definitely underrated, looked great on BN.
>>1263198well said, Anon!
Anyone know where I can find a website with a huge list of train/freight scale drawings with paint schemes that aren't crude? The only site I could find that isn't offline is trainiax but it only has diesels and some freights.Pic related.
I'm probably the only person who ever liked the Seaboard System
>>1304146I like the Seaboard and Family Lines schemes 2bh. Not enough to model it or anything but CSX is way worse.
>>1263168>>1267717These due to personal family history designing, operating, and repairing them.
>>1263095Awesome to see another RockIslandfag on here
>>1306973I think the original yellow/blue/grey CSX scheme looked good especially on older locomotives without safety cabs. The current CSX paint job is just plain jane.
>>1307042Pic related and similar are the only CSX schemes I ever liked. Blue and grey only. Once they added yellow it becomes pretty meh.
>>1307056I never cared for the blue and gray. I liked the stealth scheme though. I also didn't really like the Family Lines scheme, too busy for me
>>1307057>>1307056At least they don't have a website url as part of their scheme >the absolute state of Canadian National
>>1307062>garbage transportation mode>garbage paint schemeYikes!
>>1306997Op of >>1267717 here; very cool. Did your family member have anything particular to say about the Erie Builts or FM's in general?
This custom livery of SU46-049.
Not bad for a shortline.
>>1307273I hate that they use LED headlights though. It sort of detracts from the otherwise neat appearance of their fleet.
>>1307268Is that Estonian broad gauge C36-7i? As far as I know, now they're being rebuilt into fugly boxy things by CZ Loko.https://www.railwaygazette.com/news/traction-rolling-stock/single-view/view/us-built-estonian-ge-locomotive-rebuilt.htmlAnd isn't the livery based on Wisconsin Central by the way? Rail Polska company (part of Rail World Inc.) also has this colors on their locomotives. Pic related - an M62M locomotive, former Estonian 2M62 refitted with heart right from the most memetic locomotive, some even have the traditional American horn on them.
>>1307276That's just the way things are going. The bell is apparently a dummy for tradition--those units have e-bells next to the fuel tank.
Oneida & Western never owned any track, it was a subsidiary of a coal company and was operated by L&N crews.
Not my photo, But the Morristown & Erie is pretty cool.
>>1272347why the fuck is the horn pointed sideways?
>>1302378I don't know if this is bait but all of the pre 10000 series scheme's predate TGV by almost 30 years starting with the SSE.
>>1277401I always thought their chain driven valve gear to be odd
>>1267736Ok so hear me out. Blue for suburban-ish passenger, dark red for express passenger, Brunswick Green for mixed traffic, unlined black for goods.
>>1307568Is that green faded or the right shade?
>>1313832Not faded. They were painted that way
BC rail was great
>>1307080Nothing in particular. But my grandfather, the family member I was speaking of, did come up with a fix for connectivity issues on the GG1 between the pantograph and catenary that is still used on modern equipment today.
>>1289382watermark nigger coming through
>>1316523I like the look of non-dynamic brake geeps more than those equipped with dynamic brakes. Must have sucked for the crews, though.
>>1316445Looks pretty American to me.
NS VIRM in new (front) and old (back) painting scheme
>>1320431Yeah I always found their colour scheme odd.
>>1316523Too basic>>1316527Nah being able to grab 20 lbs of air right off the bat is way more fun than having dynamics>>1320458Not impressed
>>1320654>Too basicPerhaps, but most railroads in the 70s had basic rubbish for schemes. Here's their absolute best scheme.
>>1320661>Here's their absolute best scheme.Absolutely wrong >>1263095
>>1320803NO U FIGHT ME ABOUT IT
>>1263829I really like that you Strayans embraced the bulldog nose EMDs as well.
>>1316445I preferred the 2-tone green. Fond memories of 6-axle MLW's roaring through a relatives farm north of Fort St.John in the late 70s.
>>1320878I always thought it was weird that MLW didn't just call itself ALCo Canada or something like that instead of MLW.
New York’s Third Avenue Railway System had some good looking streetcars
>>1263829Not bad, the EMD style of the loco doesn't hurt.
>>1263095>>1263107>>1263111Based and Baby Bluepilled
>>1326468wrapped in christmas paper?
The Caledonian Railway is so underated
>>1333035Out of Aviemore?
>>1307062if were posting aircraft than the old AA livery was amazing.
Not the most complex, but I have an appreciation for the little railroad that went away the year I was born
>>1333498They had some sweet ALCo's on their roster. Good scheme, too.
>>1320823He’s dead now
