Suicide- s/t
It’s just kinda boring, one dimensional, and too stagnant to me. It also sounds horribly dated. Frankie Teardrop and Ghost Rider are the best songs, and those are still like 4/10 songs IMO.
>>86490921
>I’m assuming you’re referring to the 2011 version based on your pic.

I don’t understand how someone can hate pet Sounds. The songwriting is kinda shit, but the vocal melodies, the production, and the compositions are incredible to me.

i don't give a shit about kanye's personal life. i guess it sounds pretty cool but the lyrics often come feel cringy, with kanye fantasizing about his shitty fame fetish.

I'll post some that aren't widely disliked, even here.
>NON - Blood and Flame
It's repeatitive and boring. The songwriting is some of the laziest bullshit I've heard in my life. It's practically bandcamp noise album tier. Literally just, "Let's repeat a four bar loop of these SPOOKY sounds for 3 minutes." Every song. How this is a "classic" industrial album is beyond me.
>Cows - Cunning Stunts
Boring and repeatitive. Doesn't have nearly the punch of their earlier records to make up for their lack of songwriting skills. The only good track is the opener.
>Strawberry Alarm Clock - Wake Up It's Tomorrow
Some of the most bland psych rock I've ever heard. Not a single song stands out, and it's so bubblegum, it makes me puke.
>Picky Picnic - Ha Ha! Tarachine
Same criticism as the rest. Boring and repeatitive. This is another copy and paste the first 30 seconds 4 times for each song. This time, accompanied by annoying squeaky vocals. I'm thoroughly convinced Zolo is one of the most dated genres of all time. Two decent tracks, though: Kottankorokie and Aischu no Melody
>>
>>86492974
lyrics tho
>>
It's not like it's a classic or something, but there's so much hype around it, when for me it's a completely mediocre album with boring beats, unintersting delivery and annoying autotune.

>>86494010
I liked a lot of what Kanye did on this album. Runaway is the first thing that comes to mind. I don't care even a little bit about his personal stuff and emotions on this thing which doesn't make me like it neither more or less. That being said it's not anywhere near a 10 for me. Maybe in retrospective it was groundbreaking for hip-hop in 2010 (wasn't really into music back then, don't hurt me) or something, but today I just can't find that amazing genius which everyone praises in it.

>>86494302
I'm not that into Beatles, but I really love Revolver. It's so fun, creative and heartwarming. But on the other hand I don't get Abbey Road at all.
>>
>>86494010

It's literally just the hipster Beatles record of choice. An incredibly pathetic way of seeming 'different' while still saying you enjoy the most mainstream and acclaimed band of all time. This is all a really modern meme too. Nobody really gave a shit about Revolver all that much until recently.
>>
it's like a 7/10 at best

White Light/White Heat is another one
>>
>>86494302
it's pretty good, but the closing song is rather weak
>>
>>86492840

My favorite album of all time. Ignore the expectations of it being a "meme mucore album" and just really get into the mood. It is TRANSCENDENT.

However, it's the kind of thing that only REALLY clicks when you find just the right opportunity, which is different for everyone. As for now, just keep listening with an open mind.

My least favorite album that everyone loves is Life of Pablo. Sure the production is good, but the songs have no structure and the lyrics are unironically 2/10, which is a huge turn off for me with hip hop records.

as someone desperate to find good downtempo music portishead does not appeal at all
mostly all downtempo songs have the core concept of laying down a core rhythm and evolving around it
portishead lays down a shitty core rhythm and repeats it, no evolution at all, maybe throw some shrill vocals over it
every single song the same shitty drum kit variation of *kick kick hat kick* throughout the entire thing

and sorry to say but i gave mysterons another listen and that fits the bill

>>86492840
Like it, don't LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I hated it at first though and I can understand why you'd hate it. It's repetitive and abrasive. I couldn't get all the way through it the first time.

>>86494010
It's a 7/10.

>>86494302
When I hear the Beatles, I am 100% uninterested. I think it might be just because of how heavily engraved in pop culture they are. When you've been hearing Beatles songs, Beatles references and Beatles covers since birth, it loses all impact. I think the Beatles' music would have more sentimental value for me if they were just some tiny band I found on my own instead of a massively huge legendary act that literally everyone and their mother knows and likes. That's not to say that I only like music that isn't popular, or that I'm solely a contrarian, but constantly being exposed to a song over time really desensitizes you to it. It's like listening to hymns at this point.

>>86497545
It's just a synth pop album t/b/h.

>>86497573
Listen to the self-titled the debut Preoccupations album, then come back to this.

>>86497683
I think this album (and band) only really becomes special if you listened to them a lot as a teenager, then grew up and kept listening into adulthood. If you're just now discovering them as an adult, it's going to be cheesy, sappy shit.

>>86499272
Get out. This is a legitimate 10/10.

>>86500945
Bloated, but has 10/10 moments all the way through. Best listening occurs during a hyper-depressive period in your life.

>>86501111
People only like this Swans album because it's the longest Swans album, not because it's the best.

That's the thing about Little Dark Age. It's a 9/10 at least for me, because it is probably the most understated "great" album I have ever heard in my life. At first glance, the songs feel like nothing special. The dynamic range is wide and the music is pretty quiet and well-mixed. But as you listen, they make themselves known at the very core of your being and you will find yourself singing Me and Michael or She Works Out Too Much once in a while when you least expect it.
