>Lauren Faust was a better director than whoever is currently in charge now
>>33850552If Lauren never directed, there be no one currently in chargeCheckmate.
>>33850560That’s not what i said fag, what we have now is infinitely improved over Faust’s directionless meandering
>>33850552And yet people still hate the show.
>>33850552Quit doxxing yourself.
>>33850577>directionless meanderingOh, yeah, totally. Episodes back then definitely weren't written tighter, with clearer conflicts, more concretely defined and consistent characters, a more stable tone, and without shitty fanservice, memes, pointlessly blatant adult references, and powerlevel crap. Definitely what we have is better. That is, if you're fucking retarded.
>>33850599This.I still love this birb, though, in spite of all the mediocrity of the later seasons.
>>33850552If the show is so great, how come everybody left?
>>33850599You dont seem to understand what constitutes “quality”. In this case, quality is objective. Just because you miss your daydreaming preschool entertainment does NOT mean recent seasons are any less. Yeah the show changed, but for the better. Now it handles themes it would never have had a hope of carrying in Faust’s age, she was stunting FiM. She had good intentions but her vision was far, far too narrow. I feel like she was scared of being anything impressive, and given her career history I didn’t have faith in her myself. I was relieved when she left, FiM has long since risen above her half assed impersonation of what she thought a tv series should be
>>33850666Nice trolling, Satan. Almost had me fooled there.
>>33850599Seriously, this.I can appreciate the show now, even with all of it's faults, but it's not the same feeling I got from the first two seasons.I don't know it it would've been better or worse if Faust had stayed on, but it's felt rudderless to me for a long time, and that has nothing to do with the actual plot lines the show has gone down.
>>33850609Fuck that, glimmer is great.
>>33850609I personally feel that the destruction of the treebary kinda kills off the comfy feeling of mlp.
>>33850724Remember the letters to Celestia? God, I miss the golden age...
lauren faust is the reason you're here now faggotjust because you love fucking dead corpses doesn't mean you should
>>33850666What themes are these? I'm mighty interested what outstanding themes are carried in the later seasons that blow collective minds. Granted, earlier seasons weren't ambitious, but they never aspired to be, anyway. It's not a question of what is better, but of what is the point. And the show was created with a certain point, which is now a different one, nine years later.
>>33850609was*Learn English, redditor.
>>33850680I don't think most people say the show is 100% awful now. Look at the weekly episode polls, at the amount of fan-content that still follows the episodic releases, and the discussions. They are mostly positive. One thing is to be objective and to admit the show has changed. This is undeniable. To conclude that it is better or worse requires nuance, comparison with itself, understanding of TV writing, and more effort put into its dissection than just "3-9=crap" or "faustfags are retarded". But it might be too much to expect from the average brony or horsefucker.
>>33850759I miss the simple, comfy, non-intrusive music of the first season, too.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmTi0PHHzqs
>>33850797There are definite extremes, but I'd say most fans are able to look at each episode objectively. At the same time, it's a matter of taste as well as objective quality. That middle ground is a lot less vocal than the extremes, though, and there's always the element that is here purely to kick the hornet's nest as well.Personally, for me, there are good episodes and bad episodes but I still enjoy the show overall. I've never been the type to chew rocks over a show no matter how much I like it, though.
>>33850806I loved how the original direction staff could use silence instead of music to make some scenes cozier or more tense depending of the situation.
>>33850552Better writer, not a better directorSeason 1 was pretty slow, no one on earth can defend this.
>>33850666>her vision was far, far too narrow>"everyone wants to be a pretty princess">"the biggest villain is a school bully"t. mcarthy
>>33850795>doesn't understand a hypotheticalgas yourself
>>33850950Is slow being used as a negative here? Because that isn't inherently a bad aspect of a story. Patience, pace, caution, calmness, are all parts of a story, especially one about developing relationships first and foremost.
>>33850599The thing I notice the most is that the character animation and limits were a lot more consistent back then. They had to work with the constraints of what horses could do more tightly than nowadays.
>>33850795This. Redditors and Goons can't speak proper English. This is why they don't have a social life. They compensate by having a virtual life.

>>33850560This is how you outsmart redditors. In fact, it's incredibly easy to outsmart redditors. The sillyponies could do that. In fact, they would do that all the time and the redditors' autistic screeching would not stop them.
>>33850552See? Even the braindead know.
>>33850552you have an incredible point, retards really do be like that
>>33850552>>33855062Oh my God, OP. You accidentally made a good post. Unfortunately you discredited yourself like the usual zoomer reddit."GUYS, THEY THINK WATER IS WET. WHAT A BUNCH OF RETARD AM I RITE?"
>>33850552>OP is a better troll than Anon was 5 years agoSadly, OP was always a retard
>>33850552Doom posters are annoying, but Imo the show has always had episodes that I wanted to skip, I think it's better now I'm more areas than not because the only ones I feel like skipping are student 6 ones
