Fallout: Equestria, a story that bleeds two franchises together to build something magical. On one side, you have death, destruction, decay, and misery - on the other, you have ponies. Doesn't sound like it should mix? You'd be surprised. When the world around you is wasteland, all you're left with is hope, and as we all know, ponies can do spectacular things with just a little hope.

The last thread: >>33592585

Read Fallout Equestria by Kkat to appreciate the setting that many writers have then lent upon after being so captivated by the wonders.

The original story which spawned its own fandom can be found here: http://www.fimfiction.net/story/119190/

These next four stories comprise the rest of what is considered "the big five", alongside the original. They were biggest hitters early in the fandom, be it for having started before many others, their length, or overall quality.

Project Horizons:
https://www.fimfiction.net/story/208056/

Pink Eyes:
https://www.fimfiction.net/story/931/

Murky Number Seven:
https://www.fimfiction.net/story/47300/

Heroes:
https://www.fimfiction.net/story/662/

Though, a reminder; just because these are the most well known, that isn't to say that there aren't other stories out there! There are many hidden gems that simply don't get the love they deserve purely because people don't give them the chance. Why not open your heart and try to find a new favorite? Anons are absolutely welcomed and encouraged to return with fic discussion of even the most obscure fics!

We have resident drawfags, authors, greentexts, CYOA's and general chatter - so jump on in and have some fun in our own little slice of the Equestrian Wasteland!

Threadly question: With MLP:FiM entering its last days, what are *you* doing to revive interest in Fallout Equestria?

Magic/Moon armor against alicorns.
Combat armor & soldier's amulet against griffons/raiders.

Buy magic bullet 2 and the shield spell. Try to stealth kill alicorns when they don't have a shield and only use fireguns against them.

Also get the Little Macintosh and Scarlet Sunrise, I've been using those two since the Factory.
>>
>>33726011
Alright thanks for the tips. I've been using dragonfire and the shield wall spell a lot but I'll try those too. I've also finally managed to get rank 5 firearms and most of the guns so I have a more powerful arsenal now. Only problem is Manehattan is seriously bugging out where most of the level turns invisible and I can't progress. I'll try to continue in browser instead of locally and see if that fixes it.

Do ponies shower?

>>
>>33734641
No they don't, raiders are just especially smelly because it keeps the ghouls away. Even the feral ones know they'll have their teeth pulled and be put up for raider gang use so they keep away.
>>
>>33734641
>>33734784
Not true. *Most* don't because water is scarce for most, but those who live in certain elements of the wasteland would do.
Tenpony Tower would be the perfect example of somewhere where ponies are expected to shower daily/bi-daily.
>>
>>33735173
Isn't there some way to clean the radiated water?
>>
>>33736265
There is, though generally cleaning radiated water is best for drinking, not utility.
I still think that most ponies would *wash* themselves, but showering is a luxury left for the higher class. Built up, affluent settlements or perhaps the odd, extremely lucky building might still have it.

I've had a lot of time on my hands lately.
If you're bad like me you'll get wrecked over and over again. I burned through so many potions I ended up just going in and dying over and over to finally beat her, the fight was stupid ridiculous.
What I would recommend if you want less chance of dying, get some curse removal potions from Covertsign those are mandatory for the fight. Make some of those flight potions if you can I didn't have any but they'd help a lot for maneuverability I think. Prepare to fight a lot of necrosprites and ghouls as well since she summons them constantly beside her own attacks. I think she's weak to laser attacks too since my robo owl was doing a lot of damage to her. That's all I can think of right now.
>>
>>33741020
Might as well drop this here then to hopefully get at least one guy. I'm trying to run a nuclear murderhorse PnP game late nights weekdays. Using a personal system based on another system (BoL) rather than the pretty horrible Kkat or Dead Trees system that's floating around everywhere.

>>
>>33745950
Kiiiind of like Fallout 4 in that, I suppose, but the why and the how for preservation are a bit different. In this current draft, which I don't feel bad about spoiling because this is literally first chapter material, the starting town was the test bed for a megaspell that would almost completely pause the flow of time in an area, intended to either completely paralyze enemy infrastructure or forces, or allow for Equestrian forces or towns to be locked down and effectively immune to harm until allied forces came by to unpause them due to it being a lingering area effect. Issues, however, arose from the fact it has run from several hundred years now, and chunks of it do suddenly become unpaused over time. The reason he's the only one he knows of to walk out of it alive so far is that the chunks that break at a time are actually pretty small, and if only part of you gets unpaused you're probably dead when the rest gets freed. It doesn't stop a community built around scavenging the well preserved pre-war shit from springing up, though, even if it is hazardous.

yes, we must purify this place

>>

I actually consider this a good point despite my heavy use
A major issue is that segregating fandoms leads to their dissolution
A popular tactic in my employer's bag being to fractalize the nature of people such that everyone is served so well as to be without purpose
Happiness without drive
But by the same it allows for much more response and integration without issue than here
The issue being that without an ident here its not the same posychologically
let alone the segragation by purpose on ehere, since someone will say go back 2 pol here

In essencethe issue is we all strive to force an enviroment that suits us, as is our nature as animals
but it does not assist in that we are also incompatible
my desire for crotch tits is a rarity amongst people and frequently found odd.

To piggy back on this, it’s all that but also FOE expertly combined to franchisees together seamlessly. It’s not just a crossover fic that puts characters into a different story. It wrote the mlp cast into fallout. It’s a stark difference. The story was written well enough and dynamic characters that weren’t just a cardboard cut out...besides the cardboard cut out. Also cute ponies going to War is always fascinating to me.

So all of that would be enough but why does this crossover story stay over others? Because the original story and a strong foundation. Writing fics in the same would just fits really well.

The fact that it spawned not 1 but 3 big fics plus countless others is a testament to that.

The other two notable ones (that are both finished now) are Heroes and MurkyNumberSeven. Nothing really says there the “big 3” besides just being some of the first popular ones in the beginning. Of course it combined franchises well, but it’s kinda hard to visualize that. I had a hard idea imagining how it’d work before reading, and I was a fan of both franchises.
Fo:E is more rooted in MLP in terms of setting, but it definitely captures the spirit of playing Fallout. It’s a great adventure story, that’s really the core of everything imo.
That’s not even to mention the foreshadowing, which makes the story fun to reread. Action scenes are actually fun to read. Littlepip isn’t the most complex character in the world, but she does represent all best things that make the Vault Dwelling hero: curiosity, naivety, and a maxed out agility stat.

Even when mlp dies and maybe the fandom. I will never stop coming back to this masterpiece of a story.

Some things are best left unanswered. You don't want to know.

Alright, how does Kaleb respond?
Also I'm thinking of making her a snow owl persian hybrid.
Big and floofy, but actually a tiny body.
Blue markings where needed.

Just keep calm and go with it. No need to make any enemies out of nowhere.

I think it's a bit late for that.

Game theory: Littlepip is the self-insert oc of a pony who likes post-apoc stuff but is actually just a nerd like Moondancer

Its also engrossing as you can argue so much on it
Is Equestria dustbowl or just shadeplants ala the pacific northwest
Inconsequential in a fallout verse, literal worlds different for pony survival

Littlepip seems to have gotten herself into a pickle

What's the deal with her and snakes?
>>

I'd 100% argue that Equestria isn't the dead wasteland you see in Fallout 3 / NV, even if those were the games which would have had influence over Kkat. I know that some people (rightfully) despise Fallout 76, but I'd say that Fallout Equestria would most likely be a mix of Fallout 4 and 76 in terms of vegitation.
Not as lush as 76, not by any means at all, but even though Fallout 4 had a touch more, it still wasn't enough to survive on.
As much as the games (prior to 76) like to downplay vegitation, vegitation is ESSENTIAL for all animal life, as even if you don't eat it directly, you'll be eating the animals that do.

There would be dead zones, but there's got to be some amount of living vegitation for there to be anypony alive -- there can only be so many canned/preserved goods and they can only feed so many for so many years.

In 1&2 and NV most of the locations were desert or had sparse vegetations pre-war anyway. And even then in 2 and 1 there were fully forested locations, every town had farms and sources of food, random farm steads everywhere, most of the food items you could find weren't prewar food etc. The only game that memed it up like this was 3 and obviously even Bethesda has gone back on this with 4 and 76.

We just have to admit that Kkat got dab'd on by Todd by basing his story so heavily on the worldbuilding and aesthetics of 3 even though the rest of the series before or after agreed it was fucking retarded.
>>
>>33757260
FOE actually has plants, but they're all deadly due to mutation and pollution.
>>
>>33757568
Bullshit. The everfree forest is deadly, but there's no way that many poners have survived so long if all of the plants are deadly.
>>
Reminder that Kip needs to get his act together or Cherry gets it.
>>
>>33758839
I figure its more that people mistake everfree for the norm.
We do know its the only trees left though.
Since red eye does the whole burning thing to get the wood
>>

>Only trees left
In the local area. There's nothing to say that there isn't trees elsewhere in Equestria (especially in sidefics) but I would absolutely agree that they're the only trees (or sizeable enough amount of trees to make the undertaking worthwhile) within a reasonable distance.
Though yes, you're right. People just default to EFF because it plays such an important role in Equestria (in its own way) but there's no reason why that should be the only vegitation left around.

SAVING THIS SURVIVOR WITH NO THREADS

>"Not like I have a choice here" Kaleb replied sourly
>"I'm not for dinner"
"Oh, you really think you're that sweet? No no no, you are much too sour, could probably peel the stock pot enamel off. I simply wish to discuss the terms of an accord. Your life, for business."
>The unicorn picked the cage up and began the long walk back to his camp.
>Kaleb tucked her legs above the bars, she didn't want to chance the unicorn's concentration with being able to walk
>The town was exited quickly, Kaleb hadn't had a chance to get a weapon out after t he ambush.
>Perhaps a fortunate thing she considered, since they weren't interested in preemptively winging her
>That was a common fate for any griffon caught, many of the new homesteads were full of flightless.
>The journey over the taiga was a boring affair
>That town had been the last bastinion of civilized society for megameters
>Now she had to drop her expectation to not being soup for civilization
>"So business then?"
>The unicorn grabbed the toolbag and pulled it open despite Kaleb's refusal to part with her precious tools
>He pulled a maul out and danced it over, then the tongs
"You've got wear on these, quite heavy. That is why we want you. Iron Monger has passed onto with Luna and we need a forger"
>Kaleb sucked some air through her beak
>Upside, she was quite valuable to them
>Downside, tribals, and probably being quite valuable to others as well
>But then a lady was without her precious wars of adoration
>"What sort of work do you need me for?"

Tell me what you want these tribals to be like

Uhh, you can run around and shoot raiders, protectiponies, and timberwolves.

Music is okay, but they need to do a lot of work. The map need to be polished, you find floathing stuff around, structures without textures, things which bugs awayetc etc

"We have exhausted what supplies we had to keep our guns working. Oil, cleaners, powder. We now must ration t heir use."
>"Seemed pretty liberal shooting me back there."
"Liberal? We spent 60 rounds to capture you. That's a box and a bit from the store. More will be used to train my foal in a single session. No what we need is something more sustainable for hunting. Spears, quarrels and arrows like our ancestors."
>Kaleb paused.
>That sounded like planning
>Not something to come from simple tribals
>"Where is this coming from?"
"Worried that some savages might be able to plan? You would not be the first. We are not some simple extended family. There are many of us and the lands rife with oppurtunities. Consider this merely the interlude for a rebirth of civilization and not its mere intercession. After all, you might notice more going on beneath your hooves than you accept."
>He gave a stomp on the crushed rock road for emphasis.
>A road they had been following for several hours, so what Kaleb thought.
>She paused and reached into her bag before pulling up a pipbuck and dialing it to the map
>There was no road on the map just emptiness
>"Soo"
"Yes. not the trifling tribals you are used to. Consider that we are more interested in keeping you helpful than we are in simply trading for more ammo to be a sign as well. Now perhaps you will tell me some about yourself? You can't be solely a smithy. I might even get you a decent dinner if you woo me enough."

Meant to ask for what you want Kaleb to have a backstory as.
