Emerald looks over the stuff in his backpack in order to make sure he doesn't take anything with him that the Order might find suspicious.

The Etherlock Pistol, the Curved Knife, the "other" focus, the bones, acid, and all the alchemy items. The potions are staying behind for sure, as well as most of the books.

He can just leave them with Ann, so he isn't worried about losing things. Come to think of it, he could also inform her that she won't need to replace him since he won't be sneaking out, but perhaps he should leave behind more stuff?

What does Emerald do?
>>
>>33479481
perhaps leave behind the tarot card deck. don't know how order pones would react to that. Handsaw and booze should go too. guess gentlestallions weekly should go to Ann as well. gives her something to oogle. but we'll want to back later dang it! we haven't read it ourselves.

Emerald separates the handsaw, the booze, the tarot cards, and the Gentlestallion's Weekly from the rest of his spread.

He feels someone lean up against his head and hears Ann say, "What'cha got there?"

The colt explains she won't need to pose as him because Tourmaline said he could leave. Emerald then explains he is separating his inventory just in case someone tries to search him, and asks the demon if she can watch his stuff in case he needs to call her away.

"Eh, sounds a bit more boring than impersonating you." She says, sitting nearby and leafing through the magazine. "Never did understand why you ponies like these books. Way to vanilla."

Emerald wonders if Tourmaline has any more advice about the outside world. Perhaps he should say goodbye to everyone before he leaves as well.

What does Emerald do?
>>
>>33479751
and i have been thinking if we can make a bone suit and animate it like a undead trojan horse disguised with glamour just a idea for later if we ever need it

>>

we probably shouldn't say goodbye to everyone but maybe uictoria and ruby.
>>
>>33479794
well she is a demon shaped kind of like a human dick or mushroom with vagina teeth and tentacles and possibly drooling sexual fluids so i would guess the stuff she does involves lots of shape shifting and whats just a blobs of genitals or something more elegant weird but breath taking
>>
>>33479768
so we go try find hope and try to be recruited?
>>
>>33479768
If we stick around for a free meal, we can get the goodbyes out all at once when we request that someone transport us blind.

Maybe I didn't pay enough attention or something but did we specify that the pip book should come with her when she comes to us at some point?

Boop rubles (or whoever we come across) all sneaky beeky like. It's not like we have anything better to do than fuck about. If not that, maybe consider that the floor may in fact be lava because we must be going insane with boredom and excitement by now.

Maybe ask what the demon would put in a book or convince her to try to make a better one. Basically, "put your money where your mouth is" or "well, it's not like we have the option of demon-made erotica."
>>
>>33479865
i like the demon erotic book idea

Emerald asks what sort of things she would consider worthy of a periodical as he gets up and walks towards Ruby.

"Well, for starters your magazines just have other equines. It's usually just ponies. Sometimes zebras. Rarely gryphons." Ann says. "You know how many other creatures there are in the world? Things with every shape and size of orifice and organ you can think of. Probably some you can't think of as well!"

The colt has to admit that sounds pretty intense.

"I'll have to see if I can scrounge some up sometime." The succubus says with a wink. "I should warn you though. You know when they talk about knowledge driving some people insane? This is the kind of stuff they are talking about."

The colt is unsure if she is kidding or not.

Emerald asks what will happen to her if something happens to him. That is to say, what if he dies or becomes otherwise permanently incapacitated.

"I'll be free, of course." Ann says shrugging.

Emerald reaches Ruby and pokes her on the nose. He says he has to leave tomorrow morning and so he wants to get in some goodbyes.

"Aww, leaving already? You were going to do something involving Joyride, right? Good luck." Ruby says, hugging him and patting him hard on the back.

Emerald and Ruby share a perfectly platonic friend hug. Emerald thanks the filly for wishing him good luck. He'll need it.

"So, leaving?" Uictoria says, walking over.

Emerald wallks over to her and gives her a hug too. He asks if there is anything she wants to tell her counterpart.

"Hmm... Not really. Maybe to question the Order a bit more than she does now. If she doesn't like you i doubt she'll listen though."

Emerald asks Ruby if she wants to tell her alternate self anything.

Breaking the hug, the filly sits and thinks for a second and says, "Nah. Oh! I guess tell her to keep being awesome, because if she is anything like me than she must be already."

>"So, leaving?" Uictoria says, walking over.
yes, you people make me the most boring colt I've been in literally my entire life. When I was a baby my mom was an adventurer who cursed me with a guardian demon necklace. When I was a toddler through 8 or so I was mentally and sexually abused in ways I don't seem to be able to think about anymore and tutored enough to keep up the appearance of a well-off child and I read. Since the moment I gained freedom I've been fending off demons and questionable adults and going on adventures with magic and coaxing sex out of whoever caught my fancy and then some.

Maybe I just don't have practice at this game we call "being chill" since I've never actually done it before. Ironic, considering how chill I act.

Wait I mean just yes, fuck

The colt has to admit that the time spent here was quite peaceful, and he is a little sad to go. He has to though, as he needs to return to his dimension.

Emerald doesn't want to tell everyone that he is leaving, as he isn't sure who Tourmaline wants him to tell. That, and he is wondering if anyone might try and convince Tourmaline not to let him leave. It might be nice to say bye to Eda, though he is wondering if the assassin demon might try to convince him to try and kill Joyride again.

The night passes rather pleasantly after that. Ruby and Emerald do a bit more reading, and eat a nice, simple dinner of what Emerald would describe as a potato soup.

Tourmaline approaches after dinner and asks, "Hey, so you all ready for tomorrow? I'm going to have Strawberry walk you out. No offense, but we are going to blindfold again for it, just in case someone tries to convince you to reveal where we are."

Emerald asks Tourmaline to keep the demons busy. He's been rather hospitable, and he wouldn't want them to get into any trouble.

Emerald asks Tourmaline if he thinks the plan to speak with Joyride will work.

"Sure. I guess." Tourmaline says. "I mean anything could happen."

Emerald sees Rat, and wonders if he'll want to say anything to his counterpart. He doesn't want to inform the stallion that he is leaving, so he just tries to nonchalantly ask him.

"Hmm... I'd want to see that side's Barber and Ruby. I guess more than anything." He says.

Emerald asks if there is a way for him to get in contact if he needs it.

"Well, if you are lucky we might see you while doing our 'errands'. Other than that though probably not." Tourmaline says.

Emerald retires to bed soon after this, wanting to get a good night's sleep. Since he is alone, he whispers to his amulet, asking if it amuses the stone to see him struggling in an Order controller world, and asks what everyone else is doing.

The colt isn't sure, but he thinks he hears some laughing coming from it.

Emerald awakes the next day with a foreleg wrapped around him. Looking around he sees Tourmaline there still asleep. Looks like it's the next day. If there is anything else he wanted to do before he left now would be the time.

Emerald snuggles with Tourmaline for a little while longer, and then gets up and decides to read one of his books until he wakes up.

He starts to read one about zebra corsairs, and wonders if Bo is among their ranks. Apparently they act mostly as scouts and harassers against the deer forces to the north.

Tourmaline wakes up shortly later and after a yawn says, "Alrighty, let's get some breakfast and then we can get you out of here."

Emerald collects his things and has a quick breakfast of the soup from last night. Helpfully for once, Pip reheats his soup. At this point only He, Tourmaline, Pip, Ann, Eda, and Uictoria are awake.

"Whenever you ready." Uictoria says with a nod, also taking some reheated soup.

Emerald takes the blindfold, but doesn't put it on yet. He asks where he'll be dropped off.

"In the castle district. Remember that college that Ruby found you near? I'll try to drop you near there so you don't get too lost." Uictoria says.

The colt also asks about where he can get another pass to the city, since he doesn't have one.

Emerald asks if he has any contacts he can ask about on the streets.

"Even if I did I'm not sure I should say." Tourmaline says with a shrug.

Emerald decides it's time to leave, and puts the blindfold on. Everyone calls goodbye as they leave, and he feels Uictoria;s hoof on his shoulder, leading him to the door.

Since he is blindfolded, he quickly loses track of time and direction as they walk. Eventually Uictoria has the colt climb on his back, at which point he starts to feel Uictoria hoist herself up something, which he assumes is a ladder.

The mare then moves something heavy and metal with a grunt, and Emerald can instantly feel the sunlight on his body.

"Alright, we are here." She says.

Emerald removes his blindfold to see them standing in an alley. The buildings around him are tall, but he can still see the large wall and parapets of Whitherwater's castle a few blocks away.

Turning to the mare he sees her with her mask on, and thanks her for all she has done. He then gives her another hug, which she returns.

"Be safe little one." She says as she climbs back down the ladder.

He nods and says he'll try his best to be safe.

Emerald looks up to see that the sun is completely out and there are a decent amount of people. If he had to guess, it's probably somewhere around 9am or so.

He takes a nice, long breath of fresh air and steps out onto the street and begins walking towards #304 Coursewalk.

He stops on his stroll to look at the headlines of a newspaper.

"Two Dead found outside the walls of Whitherwater's South Gate!"

The colt grimaces and then continues on, checking his compass as he goes. It isn't indicating the castle, so he assumes it must be pointing at #304 Coursewalk. It is certainly pointing that general direction.

He gets to the doorstep, and knocks on the door.

There is no answer.

What does Emerald do?

I don't have a good feeling about how she might react to seeing us unlock her door if she's in there and ignoring us. So, I propose we use the key to what was Emerald's room in our universe. If we can go into the other room first and info gather, it might help us out before meeting this Joyride.
What other keys do we have on our keyring? Just the 2 keys?

Emerald pulls out the compass again. It's sort of spinning around in a circle without stop. He isn't sure what that means.

He knocks again, but there doesn't seem to be any response. He looks in the window and the keyhole, but doesn't see much.

"Hey, kid." a stern stallion says from behind Emerald.

The colt turns to see a strange sight.

It's a pony wearing a strange mask. It looks a bit like a sleek, metal dragon mask. It's scales are black, and it's horns are gold, or at least gold-colored. He's also wearing familiar clothes, but he can't quite place where he saw them.

"Come down here for a second. I need to ask you a few things." The pony says, his voice quite clear through his mask.

Standard police procedure is to give nothing not asked for on the grounds that even well meaning police might bury your life under a pile of bureaucratic technicality unnecessarily. This can only be worse in a world with such an uneven power dynamic.

Ask why he's in a mask and approach. It's not like we can just run, really. That would ruin our goals anyway just as sure as anything else that could happen, even if we escaped.

Emerald cautiously comes down from the steps and asks how he can help. Emerald thinks at first it may be Joyride, but the pony is far too big. He's quite huge actually. In addition, as far as he can tell that deep stallion voice is real.

The colt then suddenly remembers the masked Order ponies that were mentioned down in the barracks. According to them they all wore strange masks. Could this be one?

Emerald says his mask is scary and pretty impressive. He asks why he is wearing a mask.

"Not from around here, are you?" The pony says. "It is a symbol of my office and my identity. You can call me Hydrus."

He then points up to the stoop and asks, "More importantly however, what were you doing up there?"

Well guess we're sticking with the Aunt Joyride story. I am okay with this, this is a lie we can pull off. We know her well enough to bullshit our way out of anything... Probably.

>>
>>33495564

Qaab Belqane is the name of the deer god that they either mistook Joyride for or just named her after. Either way it's deer culture and we probably shouldn't bring it up in front of the Order who are at war with the deer. Bringing up Qaab Belqane at all can do nothing but make us more suspicious. Also they already know Joyride as Joyride as a the head of the Order. Claiming that she's our aunt is going to give us away immediately. Knocking on her door twice was a huge mistake.
>>
>>33495212
tell him we don't know for sure. we've never really met before. All I know is that my aunt lived in this city at 304 coursewalk and works for the order of the arrow. She might not even know me. either way I need to talk to her so I can find a place to stay.

Don't use deer name whilst at war with deer. This is suicidal.
Why give up a magic item to a random guard? Don't show the compass.
The aunt lie was one I thought Emerald himself said he was gonna ditch and I thought we were not gonna use. This mistake sucks. Let's not make it worse by saying we know a different Joyride. That will get us taken in for questioning, use some sense.

This isn't a bad situation yet. We are literally only knocking on Joyride's door so we can talk to her. And that is not a crime. And we can say that's what we're doing. We dont need to lie, and we don't need to tell him our life story. There's a middle ground. We do NOT need to tell him more than absolutely necessary.

Emerald replies that he is looking for his Aunt.

"Don't be daft." The masked pony says bluntly. "What is her name?"

The colt is unsure what to say, and doesn't really want to lie any more, especially to someone like this. He says he is looking to get back to his Aunt Joyride.

"She is your Aunt, is she?" The stallion asks.

Emerald finds it surprisingly difficult to tell if he is asking in earnest or if he is doing so mockingly or perhaps even worse, trying to lead him on. He decides to tell a bit of the truth. No more than he needs to know but enough to maybe make Hydrus leave him alone. He says that Joyride isn't his real aunt, but she is the closest thing to a real family he has.

The dragon mask pony stares at the colt, not saying a word. While he is doing this Emerald looks nervously around. He hadn't noticed it before, but whenever people start to walk down the side of the street he is on the seem to stop for a second, and then cross the road before continuing to walk. This makes the colt panic slightly, and he starts to look for ways of escape.

Emerald doubts he could simply run from this pony. He is much older and much larger and would probably run him down quickly. There is an alley on both sides of Joyride's house he may be able to escape down. In addition, Emerald isn't sure that Hydrus knows he might have keys to #304 Coursewalk. If he gets his key ready, It's possible he may be able to dash inside before the masked pony can realize what is going on.

"And how did you come to know Joyride, child? Do you even have any proof that you know her? Perhaps a letter she sent for you to come visit her?" Hydrus asks, still staring at the poor colt.

What does Emerald do?
>>
>>33496859
I was given a key and a compass that lead here. They were made by her for me.

Now since you do seem to know about joyride do you know if she's in?
>>
>>33496859
Get the keys out, back up to the door. Unlock it behind yourself whilst talking to cover the noise.
"Where's you proof? How do I know you're not some child abductor? I know about stranger danger!"
And hopefully the door will be unlocked by this point.

We still have our main focus so if things start to get bad I'd throw out a Smoke Screen spell. Maybe circle around him a few times to make him unsure where we are, and then go back for the door to try and open it agian. Because Joy's house is genuinely the safest place I can think of.

Emerald attempts to waylay him by asking the stallion questions, but he seems uninterested on doing anything else but answering his questions.

In a huff, Emerald walks up to the door and pulls out his keys, saying that Joyride gave them to him. He then puts the key in, opens the door, checks quickly that it's safe inside, and then steps in.

Emerald looks around in the room he is in. He used the key that led to his flat, but apparently in this dimension it leads into a completely kind of chamber altogether.

It's a short corridor made completely of rough stone. On his left there is what appears to be a room of some kind. Inside there is a bed and what appears to be a squat toilet. In addition, there are chains on the back wall, as well as multiple completed check marks. Lastly, there is something written on the back wall. It reads, "I said there are 11 eyes!"

Emerald gets closer to the room, and notices that the large doorway has some sort of magical sheen around it. It's glass-like and nearly see through, but seems to shimmer occasionally.

Emerald calls out for Joyride, but no one responds. He then walks over to the cage. He can't see the whole cell, but it doesn't look like anyone is inside.

The colt throws a rock to test the shield. It bounces off, leaving a soft ripple on the barrier.

He begins to walk off, flipping through his other keys, but then hears the voice of a filly behind him.

"H-hello? Is someone there? H-help me!"

Emerald walks around the barrier, trying to figure out if it has a source somewhere. While he does this the colt asks who she is and what she is doing here.

"M-my name is Amygadlin. You can call me Amy though..." She says, and then continues. "I-I'm not sure what I'm doing here or even really where I am! I just woke up one day and I was here. Please get me out of here before that Joyride lady comes back!"

Emerald asks if she knows where Joyride is.

"I-I don't know. She just comes out of the door that you appeared from." Amy says.

The colt has to admit that it reminds him a lot of his stay with his step parent's and he can't help but to feel a bit of sympathy for this young filly.

The colt says he isn't sure how he could even possibly destroy the barrier.

"D-do you have anything that can destroy magic? Maybe some sort of dispel, or an anti-magic field of some kind? Please, you are my only hope!" Amy says.

Emerald is a put a little bit on edge with such a specific request. The colt pulls out his book and casts arcane sight. Unfortunately, Emerald can't see through the barrier, in fact there is a big square of purple light in front of him that he can't see past.

The colt asks what Joyride has been doing to her, and how long she has been here.

"S-she usually just stops by to feed me. Please, I haven't seen the sun for so long. Help me out of here!" Amygdalin says, scratching at the barrier with her hoof ineffectively. "I don't know how long I've been in here, but it's been far too long!"

Emerald asks what she did to be put in a place like this.

"I don't know, I don't know!" Amy says, breaking down and crying.

Emerald admits to the filly that this all seems far too strange, but if she should run by Joyride she'll speak to her about it. He feels it's not the best idea to just let someone out of a dungeon.

"P-please, you are my last hope..." She says, continuing to cry.

What does Emerald do?

Maybe we should let her out. If she's dangerous we could zap her with some magic missiles and stab with our knife. But hopefully it won't come to that.

>>33500930
Wait she has no iris. Demons don't usually have iris. This filly might indeed be a demon
>>
>>33500930
I am sure she's got something to do with demons. However, so does Emerald and he's a good guy. I'm torn on this.
She can survive a bit longer though, there is no reason not to wait this out and find out more first. Acting this soon doesn't grant us any extra benefit. So tell her, we'll be back for her once we get some tools to free her, that it might be a couple days, and to obviously keep our visit a secret.

Then we peek out the door. Is hydrus gone?

Emerald asks if she knows Aldehyde or Pipadexakor. Or any parents. He begins to look around for some way to release her, but then he realizes something as he looks into her tear streaked face. She has no pupils.

"I-I don't know who you are-" She starts, but then her eyes start to narrow and focus, and then she says, "Aldehyde? Aldehyde... ALdeHyDe..."

Her head suddenly jerks backwards, and for a second Emerald thinks something had sliced her right across the neck. That is until he looks down and sees a horrifying sight.

A crease on the filly's neck has opened, revealing a large, tooth filled maw with a long, prehensile tongue. A deeper, scratchier voice speaks from the neck, causing the head to bob creepily with every word.

"You knew Aldehyde did you? Well, not much point in hiding myself much longer. Let me out child, or I swear wrath on your family. I will swear it on you, your children, and your children's children. I will drive them mad with grief and despair, and they will beg for me to take their lives just to end the suffering." The filly previously known as Amygdalin says. "So let me free, colt, or you will never see the end of me."

What does Emerald do?

Laugh at her a little, okay maybe a lot. Then hold out a hoof for a good share even though we can't because of the barrier.

Emerald walks away slightly and turns his back. He fishes out his keys and asks just how she plans to do any of that when she is stuck in there.

"I will escape one day. Perhaps you will not be alive then, but when you are burning in the afterlife, do you want your dead ancestors asking you why you let a terrible monster torture and kill them?" the creature says.

Emerald remarks that he is perfectly with okay with the monster killing his step-parents. He then says the demon will just torture and kill him anyway once he is free. He then sticks his tongue out at teh demon.

"Oh no, you misunderstand." It says grinning. "I'll spare your life and your soul as payment for my freedom. We can even make it a contract. That way you know I can't break it."

Emerald asks how she knows Aldehyde.

"We are rather similar, don't you think? We helped each other out. She asked for power, I asked for a body and souls." Amy says.

Emerald says he's about ready to go now, and wishes her goodbye.

She wishes him a long and painful death.

Emerald stops at the door for a second. He realizes that if there is anyone on the porch, or Celestia forbid right outside the door, he might be in trouble. It'd be really easy to just jump out the door, shove the library key in the door, and hop back in if what was empty, but he needs to prepare just in case.

Emerald peaks out the door, and sees the masked pony there, speaking to some guards. Taking the opportunity he readies himself to cast a shield and in one smooth motion he steps out, close the door, puts the library key in, and steps inside. He is too nervous to look back, but he thinks for sure someone was alerting others to his presence.

Not only does the stone room not have any other exits, Joyride isn't here, and there is no library. The only book in the entire room is sitting atop what looks to be some sort of black rock pedestal.

The book is scarlet red and has some sort of convex mirror with green runes floating in it. He thinks it's also whispering.

"Free me, child. Free me and I promise you power. More power than you could possibly imagine."

The colt sighs and rolls his eyes.

guys i would seriously consider at least hearing out what the book has to say as we are in serious trouble. the guards outside know we are looking for joyride and know we can use magic. there's a snowball's chance in tartarus that they'll let us see her now and they will likely throw us in jail for questioning if caught.

i can only see us either throwing ourselves onto the mercy of st. hope for help, using this book to aid us, or coming up with a brand new plan to get to joy cause this one is not working out,
>>
>>33505671
I have no intent in agreeing with this book. But I wanna see if we can get a name from it, and if it can tell us anything about teh filly demon next door. Don't tell it about Pip incase it then tells Joyride about her.

Also we might get arrested once we go back out but, cmon, we have SO MUCH dirt on Joyride now that she'd be mad to ignore us.
>>
>>33505834
We've also got to account for the people outside, who will be just now beginning to adjust their methods so that they can catch us next time we do this. Right now is probably the last time we can manage to get past them without probable issue.

"I'll accept full binding to my will and commands, and nothing less."
Don't wait for an answer.
>>
>>33506175
>we have SO MUCH dirt on Joyride now that she'd be mad to ignore us.
No, you don't understand, that's a bad thing under this kind of power structure. There's an unelected and unaccountable military power functioning as a governmental organisation and she's at the head of it locally. Having "dirt" on her just means the entire system sees us as a problem in need of fixing. Seeing these demons has made things worse for us, not better.

Thankfully, they also don't really have to care about our dirt since there isn't anything we can really do with it, so it's not that bad.
>>
So the Joyride of this universe just uses her house's rooms to store various demons and evil artifacts? That's sort of boring.

>>
>>33505671

>>
>>33506928
I agree. so any idea on how to get out of this mess?
>>
>>33506954
Well, we've technically not lied. Joyride prime is an adult who was and still kind of is totally responsible for us at this time (and was maybe close to our mother I forget). Our list of crimes may or may not include resisting arrest or fleeing an officer moments ago, fraternization with numerous tainted beings in this house, use of magic against an officer, simply being a world-hopper, and overstaying our legal documentation. We don't know how the local ruling on any of that works, but I suspect it's like equestria appears to work where the rules are whatever those with power feel like they are.

Among those, only demonic tainting appears like a real concern. Depending on how demon tainting is tested, that could get us anything from a magical scan that turns up nothing to a classic Salem-type witch-test that is built to kill the innocent and prove the guilty. Worst case scenario is shoot-on-sight but that seems a bit unlikely until joyride gets to confirm that she doesn't know us. Essentially, the more totalitarian and stern the organisation is, the greater value our apparent association with joyride has, meaning that the worst that can reasonably be expected is to be tackled to the ground and brought in for further questioning, which we can probably just answer mostly honestly.

If you want a riskless plan, I'm sorry to say we are beyond that. The main thing I would recommend is being cute and pleasant and not a little shit.

Also, this book can't do shit for us unless we want to attack people.

Who wants to attack people? Defeating the whole military in combat would definitly solve our problems. Anyone up for all the power the book has on offer? We would have to make the same deal with every demon in every cage in these rooms and hope the combined power was enough. Come on, some of you have to be that aggressive.
>>
>>33505671
Tempting offer but no.

Do a perception check. Is there any other way out of this room? Do we have any other joyhouse keys left?
>>
>>33505671
tell the book that we aren't interested in a sales pitch right now, just get to the point.

if the book doesn't have anything that can help us in our current situation then we need to seriously decide whether to surrender to the guards outside or figure out a plan to slip past them and go to the castle to look for hope.
>>
>>33506928
Asking questions is not a trick. We're already past the point of getting out of this unarrested. You sound like you just want the arresting to happen sooner. If we can get the names of these demons, and then get teh chance to call those names out near Joyride, she's gonna shove every guard out of the way to ask us what we know. That's when we have a chance to get out of this.

Emerald asks if he knows Joyride or Pip.

"Of course I know Joyride. That fool rejected my power. With our strength combined we could have ruled the world!" The book says in a rather evil manner.

In a bemused manner Emerald asks what his name is and what he is offering.

"You can call me Freytag, but that does not matter." The book booms out. "As for the power I can give you awesome, terrible magic power. What you do with it is under your discretion. Perhaps use it to make yourself stronger? Maybe wealthier? The world will be your- hey wait! Where are you going?"

The colt is done here. There aren't any other ways out of this room and he has no other keys to #304 Coursewalk, which means he'll have to go outside eventually anyway. He steps out, crosses his forelegs, and stares down at the masked pony and two guards next to him, which have spears drawn.

"What were you doing in there, child? Make sure you tell the truth. You are in enough trouble as it is." Hydrus says.

What does Emerald do?

Hoping that one of the keys we had would take us to Joyride, but the both led to demons instead. One that pretended to be a filly and than threatened to curse all of our decedents if we didn't release it was in the first one and a talking book that promised unimaginable power was in the second.

Emerald says he wanted to speak to Joyride. Alone. He asks if there is anything wrong with wanting that.

"Wrong? Possibly. Suspicious? Very much so." Hydrus says. "I'm especially curious how you managed to get keys to that house."

The colt says he knows she is in there, and that this could all be solved quickly if he could just speak with her.

"I'm afraid I can't let you do that."

Emerald asks what he is being charged with.

"I have no obligation to tell you that, now come with me." Hydrus says.

He holds up some hoofcuffs and says, "Now, do we need to use these?"

On the scale of power tripping officers, this isn't so bad given the situation. I'm kinda trying to find a reason why he wouldn't want to put the cuffs on us and I don't have one. It makes me think this is a trick.

No they didn't. We could have taken the demon deals. It's not like we aren't already under demonic influence and demonic ownership. From there we could have leveraged our new gifts and our anti-magic passive and our two servants to fight our way out of town.

Better yet, we could have just smoke-spelled and made a break for it without ever checking joyride's doors, trying to outrun this professional with no real advantages.

Emerald sighs and says no.

"Oh? So you are saying we need to use something else." He says, putting away the hoofcuffs and bringout out something with enough cuffs for all his legs and one for his neck. Hydrus orders the guards with him to take Emerald's stuff, including his amulet.

The colt says Hydrus is a jerk.

"And you are a brat." He replies. "Insult me again and I'll use the ballgag, now walk."

The colt walks for a while, silently seething. The cuffs are just long enough to allow mostly normal walking, but enough to trip him up if he breaks into anything more than a trot.

Two of the guards are walking beside him, while Hydrus is behind keeping an eye on him. Emerald tries to stay close to the one with his equipment. If the Amulet comes back to his neck he is sure there are going to be some odd questions.

He asks if they are going to the castle.

"Yes. That is where my... Office is." Hydrus says.

Emerald is a bit concerned what that could mean.

Emerald test the binds a bit. They seem pretty strong. He asks if his office is in a dungeon.

"It is indeed. It serves my needs well." He says.

The colt then asks what he is going to do when he gets there, and what about his things. He wonders if he should mention his amulet at all. He isn't sure if that would make things better or worse.

"You'll undergo some questioning. Your stuff will be stored away. They shall be returned to you if you are released.

Emerald begins to wonder if he should insult Hydrus again, but thinks better on it. It's probably important he be as innocent as possible.

Emerald asks what will happen if he isn't released.

"If you are lucky? Life in jail. Unlucky? You'll end up on an Arrowfix." He says from behind the colt.

Emerald asks again if he can speak with Joyride, since they are going where she works anyway.

"Suuure. Why don't I let you speak to the King as well? Or Saint Hope? I'll even give you a dagger and make them turn their backs to you. We're all friends here right?" Hydrus says, pushing the colt forward.

They walk in silence for a while, and then Emerald asks why they have to go to the dungeon to speak. Seems like they'd just be able to do it here.

"Because I may not like the answers you give me, in which case you may need some 'persuasion' to speak honestly." The masked pony replies.

They enter the castle walls, and instead of heading straight on a giant brick path they take a slightly smaller road going east, leading up to another entrance.

Even though he can see it from here, there are winding, guarded paths leading up tot he building with defensive positions and some sort of ballistae set along the path. The colt can see banners with arrow symbols on them wafting in the wind.

You have no reason not to think that other than potential demon infection from those things in joyride's house. Don't you have some way to just check for that directly or is this gonna be a problem.
>speak to the king

Emerald is starting to hate this dude. He supposes he isn't as bad as Venator, who actually struck the colt.

Though, if he is being honest about his torture plans that might be true for Hydrus soon.

The colt asks what an Arrowfix is.

"An execution device that purges criminals of their crimes before their death. By burning it out of them. In addition interring a prisoner gives off a magical aura that powers up Order spellcasters like myself." He says.

Emerald remembers Hope in this dimension and how Hydrus mentioned her, and asks him to pass along a message since she vouched for him once before.

"You've met the Saint have you? Where?" He says incredulously.

Emerald explains about the cannon attack during her arrival, but makes sure not to mention Ruby's involvement.

"Is that so? Hrmph, well if that's true I'm sure we'll find out soon.

They reach the front door, and just indie is something like a caged front desk with clerical staff running everywhere. Emerald finds he isn't the only one in cuffs here. There are lot's of prisoners here being checked in, as well as officers keeping guard.

I think we're doing pretty well as far as keeping secrets goes. Which is not the same as lying. In this situation secrets are our only chance of having value to these people. If they start to torture, outing Joyride as a demon hoarder will be the first thing we admit. So let's not give that one up early in a time when we wont get anything out of it. I assume the Order don't know about her collection.
Funny Venator was brought up, as I started to think Hydrus might be him. That this is a future where he got promoted rather than left to die.

Only suggestion I have right now is to pay attention to the prisoners, and evern the guards. Anyone we recognise could help us out. If Alacris works here we can probably get some sympathy from her.

Emerald asks if he needs to wait here while he does paperwork.

"No, you get expediated access." Hydrus says, poking Emerald to keep him moving towards a side door.

As they move through the crowd, Emerald considers what an Arrowfix does to a pony. What does it siphon from the prisoners? magic power? Their life force itself? It sounds ghastly, and a bit unethical.

Thinking of a question that won't offend Hydrus, he asks what Hope has done to make everyone like her so much. He also asks if it has something to do with her floating powers.

"She gave her life for the Order, and through her righteousness, rose again. By her light she has purged much of this wretched, tainted land." Hydrus says proudly.

Emerald asks if he's really going to torture him.

"Depends on what you tell me." He replies.

The colt looks around to see if he can find anyone he recognizes him, even if it's just an alternate versioni of someone he knows. His eyes land on Alternate Larimar, who is walking out of the door he is being lead to. Emerald calls out to him, and the Choir colt looks him over.

"It's you... What have you done to get yourself into shackles?" Larimar asks.

"You know this foal?" Hydrus says before Emerald can say anything.

"Yes... He helped defend the Saint by delaying an attacker, I put a trace on your prisoner, but it was lost, and now he appears here in cuffs being led by an Accuser and several guards." Larimar says. Looking to the colt for an answer.

on this one, why would hydrus have a reason to hurt us? It seems fairly normal to not want to be followed and we were never told we couldn't toss it out or who put it there or even that it was a trace. Either way, we should just not explain the tracer at all unless directly asked.

>>33523528
We weren't able to talk to her? I thought we were...

Either way, the fact that we tried to talk to joyride isn't a secret and I would rather we get to present this fact ourselves rather than letting hydrus put his spin on it. It also drags the conversation away from the tracer.
>>
>>33523332
Just tell him that we wanted to talk to Joyride. We don't need to pile more crap on top of that.
>>33523421
>>33523519
This gets us tortured.
>>
>>33523332
It wasn't long ago we literally were a foal who just wants to spend time with Hope and learn from Joyride. I think we can go back to acting like that rather than the demon master terrorist we currently are for a bit.
Just tell Larry we were trying to talk to Joyride and apparantly that warrants torture? What's this about a trace? Why is talking a crime? I only came here to get help, and find my home. (That's truthful yet ambiguous enough I think)
>>
>>33523519
Hey, I've been saying to just cooperate for a while but-
>>33523531
>>33523569
-do you really want us to admit we know they have tracers, and make them think we how to identify them, AND that we tossed it intentionally which would imply we have something to hide, especially by these order assholes logic?
No. Telling the truth in this case can absolutely do us no good.
>>
>>33523803
The tracer was "lost"
We don't know if that means it was destroyed or just left somewhere. Either way, we will need some answer as to where the tracer went if they ask. For now, I'll agree to just not talking about it in particular

>do us no good
It closes down a line of questioning quickly which might otherwise give us trouble later, and does it while someone we trust a tiny bit is still here. It also doesn't quite imply we know how to identify them, as any organisation focused on the removal of foreign influence has a tendency to do this kind of stuff, making it an easy guess. Getting rid of random objects we find in our spellbook isn't unreasonable on it's own, either, so we could just say we didn't know what it was and didn't trust it.
Still, again, there's no real need to focus on this unless asked.
>>
>>33523332
Was it an enchanted bookmark slipped into the pages? If so was it even our bookmark to begin with? Not in a rude tone but how long did Lari expect it to go unnoticed when we would probably give our book the once over after having it out of our sight.
>>
>>33523332
"Oh that bookmark? Sorry it fell out of my book while I was walking around"

DESU we should just tell them the truth about being from an alternate universe. Worked with Tourmaline's crew.

We can even tell them we were fighting demons in the other universe, which I am sure they will like to hear. Plus it has the added benefit of being true.
>>
>>33523332
Also say hi to Larimar
>>
>>33523803
We're already established as having magical prowess. Yes, be straight, we got rid of the tracer because they put it on our person without even telling us.
>>
Answer any questions honestly. We just want to get home.
>>
>>33523528
We did?
>>
>>33526539
Yeah, we saved her pretty much when we got into Whitherwater.
>>
>>33526523
Not all questions. What if they ask us if we associated with any demons? Can't be honest about that or they'll surely kill us.
>>
>>33526765
"Oh yeah a ton. There were two in joyride's house I talked to for a minute and uncountable numbers flooded my home before I came here."

eh?
>>
bump
>>
>>33526765
Fair. Although we don’t really associate with them on purpose do we? We just kinda get roped into it.
>>
>>33524961
This whole "Let's stop lying and say we ditched the stupid tracer" thing is utterly retarded. Because we didn't get rid of that tracer, Tourmaline's crew did. Emerald was utterly oblivious. If we pretend that we were so smart that we threw it out, we'd be lying. Only, we'd be lying and trying to cool like a cool guy in a douchey way.
Because we are keeping the clown crew a secret, it is in both our interest to say we don't know about a trace. We'll get nowhere acting up.

Plus if we need to throw out some demons and spells, it pays to look weak and helpless and get surprise shots in.

Emerald apologizes for having to meet him again under such circumstances, and says all he was trying to do was speak with Joyride like he's been trying to do since he got to this city. That caused Emerald to ended up near her house. The colt also apologizes for whatever tracking spell was on him was "lost". He certainly didn't do anything to make it happen, which is certainly true since Aflfalfa and Ruby were the ones to find and dispose of the bookmark thing.

He goes on to tell the other Larimar that Hydrus is going to torture him even though he hasn't done anything wrong. He pleads to Larimar to get Hope so that she could vouch for him.

Larimar thinks for a moment and then says, "Perhaps I will do that, but I am still confused about a few things. How do you know where Joyride lives?"

"It's not only that, Larimar. He had keys to her house, and he entered at least two rooms." Hydrus says interrupting, motioning to Emerald.

"Really now? Hmm..." Larimar says while thinking. "So you just now went to Joyride's today? Where have you been staying since then? Certainly not on the streets. Also please answer my previous question about how you knew where she lived."

What does Emerald do?
>>
>>33528394
Larimer before i can answer that i first want to know how familiar you are with joyride. Did she ever tell you about her talent.
>>
>>33528394
You aren't gonna to believe me but i was sent those keys by joyride. One key was said to be my room and the other a library. It was neither.
>>
>>33528394
Look some stuff i cannot answer until i speak with joy first.
>>
>>33528394
Man you guys are almost as needlessly evasive as Donald Trump.

>Woo! Torture time!
>>
>>33528394
I don't know. How many days has it been since we last met? Look larimar after we departed I was foalnapped and blindfolded by some ponies wearing masks. They pulled mean pranks on me and only let me go when they got bored.
>>
>>33528394
GODDAMN IT NIGGER IM FROM ANOTHER DIMENSION. DO YOU HAVE ANY DIMENSION HOPPERS THAT CAN SEND ME ON MY WAY

FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKK
>>
>>33528394
Sigh and ask larimar if he is aware of the existence of other worlds and dimensions. We are from one and we're our joyride's apprentice. A accident sent me into this world and im wanting to speak to your joyride to send us back home. If she cannot then im stuck here. You can believe me or not but it's true.
>>
>>33528394
I'll tell you but not with hydrus here.
>>
>>33528394
Can you promise me that you will pass it along to hope and joyride. Ill tell you if you do get them afterwards. Please i don't want to be tortured, jailed, or put on a arrowfix.
>>
>>33528394
Because i was given the keys and the message said it was for 304 coursewalk. I was to meet wth joyride and speak with her. I was hoping she would take me in. If not i was going to see if i could join your choir. I cannot really explain the rest because even i don't know.
>>
>>33528537
>You can believe me or not but it's true.
The truth isn't the solution, getting them to believe us is. And the truth is not believable.
>>33528394
"She's my guardian, and my master, and it was Joyride's magic that has caused me to end up so far away from home. I don't care about anything else going on here, demons and politics, I just want to talk to her and get things fixed. It is something only she can do."
As for what to say about where we were... I have no ideas.
>>
>>33528490
The cockring could serve as proof.
>>
>>33528394
We have an enchanted compass that points towards her and we didn't try earlier since we figured she's a busy pony and probably wouldn't have been able to see her while she was at work.
>>
>>33528394
I think she told us where to find her... in a way. We were staying with a relative... sort of. We'll tell you more later
>>

Larimar i can't answer you that right now but maybe after i speak to joyride i can tell you. But please get hope for me.

He says that it's hard to believe, but Joyride herself gave her those keys. It's sort of the reason why he even knows where she lives.

Emerald pauses for a moment, and asks them both if they know what Joyride's cutie mark means, that is to say, her special talent.

"No." Hydrus repsonds, and Larimar stoically shakes his head. "Honestly, I never thought to ask. I would assume something with magic. What does that have to do with anything?

Emerald says he knows, isn't sure how much he should reveal about Joyride. In fact, her special talent is precisely the reason she may be his only help. He asks once again if maybe Larimar can pass a message to Hope or Joyride so he can speak with them first.

"Well, okay, so you claim you got the keys and stuff from Joyride, but I kind of find that hard to believe. Where could you have possibly met her? Also, where were you for the two or so days since Hope's attack?

Emerald wonders if he should mention the dimension hopping at all, and where he was for the last few days.

What does Emerald do?
>>
>>33529312
If we do mention the dimension hopping, be sure to mention we had nothing to do with it happening, besides being sucked in of course.
>>
>>33529312
Alright guys, this is a prime chance to unfuck our situation.

Remeber. Don't fuck up. Don't fuck up.

You can do it!
>>
>>33529312
Ask if we could speak to larimar in private then.
>>
>>33529312
This actually is going well!
As an apprentice of Joyride's I have to keep her secrets. Where I've been these few days? Same place where I am now. Lost. I know staying quiet might get me tortured, but betraying Joyride sounds worse than that to me. I'm not saying anything more until she gets here.
>>
>>33529312
And were right back to the stupid and easily disproved lies.

*sigh*

Well you tried.
>>
>>33529312
I was kidnapped and only released today after those masked clowns had their fun tormenting me. I was blindfolded the whole time so i don't know where i was or who they were. Outside of that I'm rather uncomfortable to say anything else until i speak to hope or joyride.
>>
>>33529563
I'm not sure it's a good idea to reveal that we had any contact whatsoever with rebels.
>>
>>33529312
I rather not say without seeing her first.

>>33529363

If we do speak to larry in private tell him about how we are from another world and we are that joyride servant. We got sucked into portal by accident after helpng our joyride vanquish demons
>>
>>33529348

>>33529605
>>33529363
haaah no

>>33529454
Maybe but an actual answer would work better here

Tell them we were sucked into this dimension through a portal from a parallel reality, and we were exploring the town the last two days because we were curious what things were different in this reality

Broach the subject by asking how much they know about parallel realities. consider backing off if they say not much. Get them curious to go ask what Joyride's special talent is, so that they hopefully take you there. Not like you're a threat agains Joyride in any universe anyway

In our own reality we are Joyride's Apprentice, which is why we at least hope she should be able to get us back there
>>
>>33529312
Inb4 we fuck this up and Hydrus has a sex dungeon, is amused by what he finds on us...

Considering what he used instead of hoofcuffs, seems pretty likely.
>>

Emerald asks if he can speak Larimar alone at the very least, just in case he says things about people that he shouldn't. Larimar looks to Hydrus, who thinks for a moment and then nods and steps back.

The colt then says he was blindfolded and led to a criminal's hideout, where he was kept for a few days. Only recently was he able to leave, and that's why he was caught at Joyride's now. He then says that's not really what he wanted to talk about. Emerald says Larimar might not believe him, but he's from a different dimension altogether, and was transported here on accident while helping the Joyride from his dimension fight some demons. He was hoping the Joyride from here might be able to get him home.

"From another dimension." Larimar states, raising an eyebrow at the colt. "And Joyride can help?"

Emerald isn't sure Larimar believes him.

What does Emerald do?
>>
>>33529948
Punch his gem for giving him stupid ideas. Oh wait, he's not wearing it. Telling the truth was a bad move and has wedged us into a dire situation. I guess we may as well keep going. Tell him we knew him in our world and that he was a member of the Order, but looked more like a warrior. But still found himself by Hope's side. He might find that interesting. Mention he had a cool sword.
>>
>>33529948
She has a house full of pocket dimensions and we've dimension hopped with our Joyride before.
>>
>>33529948
"As long as she has the same abilities as in my universe, she can help."
>>
>>33529948
It's because of her cutie mark she's good at travel magic. If anyone can send me home it's her.
>>
>>33529948
>"And Joyride can help?"
Assuming that her talent is the same or similar to the talent of every other joyride. If it's not, then all we really want to do is get as far away from here as possible which still doesn't seem that unreasonable as I appear to just be a crazy person and nothing more to you people.
>>
>>33529948
Joyride is a powerful mage. She wouldn't give someone a key unless they trust them and by that very token it's a special that cannot be replicated.
>>
>>33529948
Im hoping that she can. If not ill be forced to stay in this world until i can find a different mage to send me home.
>>
>>33529948
If you doubt me then ask joyride about her talent and about her keys. Ask her if my story sounds plausible.
>>
>>33529948
Remind him that we did try to protect hope.
>>
>>33529948
Ask him if we could stay with him the choir and hope for the time being. We are no threat to any of them in we rather await our fate in someplace other than some rack or stocks.
>>
>>33529948
Explain the relevance of Joyrides cutie mark, and ask how we would have gotten the keys, I doubt one colt could get their hands on a copy in such a short time in the city, especially when we've been... "preoccupied" for most of that time.
>>
>>33529948
Has Joyride taught us any spells herself? If we can demonstrate it to her she might recognize our casting style as similar to hers. Also we have keys to her apartment, or jail or whatever.
>>
>>33529948
Warn him that if he turns us back over to hydrus the stallion intends to torture us. We don't know how far he'll go and what he'll do
>>
>>33529948
my life is in your hooves larimar.
>>
>>33529948
Describe the demons we've seen, that should at least give us some credibility.
>>
>>33529948
Probably, I don't know. If I end up stuck here and your joyride didn't even have the ability to help I'm gonna yell incomprehensibly for once I'm someplace where nobody can hear me.

I also don't know why she would have kept her talent enough of a secret that none of you know what she is good for. Maybe it's easier to defend herself if nobody knows what she is capable of? Consider not telling other people besides her, as that might put her at greater risk.
>nb4 we give way to a coup by hope on joyride by saying this

Is it possible that we could explain our map by saying we had it from our own dimension? That's not necessary yet.

I'm not sure what you can do or if I'm even going to need anything from you or if you'll want to help at all, but that's basically all that I wouldn't want to tell hydrus. For now, just think of me as a crazy pony desperately wanting to be banished.

Go back to hydrus unless larimar has something else to talk about.
>>
>>33529948
Ask him about himself. where's he from and how long has he known joyride and hope?
>>
>>33531557
This is not the time for that. Are you trying to stall him or what?
>>
>>33531582
just finding out how well he know's joyride. the better he knows joyride the more plausiable our story will seem.
