What is this, image source gives me nothing
>>17634181I dunno what this is specifically, since I just saved it from a post earlier, but I am pretty sure the mech in the background is Charles Babbage.
Also, guess this is a good place to post these.
This one's double speed due to webm length restrictions but it still looks pretty awesome.

>>17645597Don't be upset. I'm trying to level Babbage as fast as I can but still have 250k bond points left. Fortunately, he's got bonuses in the coming summer event.
>>17653398About that, is there some special way to get a lot of bond points? I'm relatively new and I noticed that Bond leveled pretty quickly up until level 5 or so and then started taking way more time, to the extent that I've been using the exact same servants in every battle and none of them are even halfway to 6. Is there a place to get a lot of them later on or is this just some way of ensuring you only level the Bond of servants you are extremely committed to?
>>17653441Only real way to get 5+ bond levels is to stick them in the backlines for every single fight. Or frontlines, wherever. The most efficient way is during a 1/2 AP free quest event, where you equip the +50 BP CE, and have a duplicate with your support. Then the other BP CE, and go fucking insane spamming the 1AP Fuyuki node.
>>17655029Well that is pretty tedious. I wonder what the fuck the mindset is in designing a game this way? Like this goes beyond trying to strongarm the player into paying money, because money wouldn't help here. No matter what it's just an unholy amount of grinding. I wonder how that benefits them? Because I think it would just drive people to quit.
>>17655043The game originally only had bond levels up to 5. I'm sure you've noticed, but it isn't much of a task to get everyone to bond 5.You aren't really intended to get maximum bond levels for everyone, just your favorite servants. When you reach bond 10, it unlocks a unique Bond CE for that servant. Even so, JP has recently introduced bond levels up to 15 I think, purely for bragging purposes.
>>17655043Bonds are literally for autists who actually enjoy grinding. You only get a few measly quartz/apples per level. And yeah no shit, there's plenty of grinding, how else are they going to stretch the game longer? No way they can churn out that many story/event/servants for you to consume/roll. Why else do you think they even have QPs?

A kuso anime shouldn't have an opening this good
>>17655493Man, I tried to do the summer event for the free Scathach and it was so unbearably long that I burnt out after finishing the first half. Granted this is my fault for attempting to do it within the last couple days and I'm probably too underleveled to have finished it anyway but I feel like this game has more than enough for the average player to do without adding even more grind on top of it. God forbid someone has a job (not that I do) or wants to play more than one game. I know, I don't have to play it at all, but I actually enjoy the story so it just irks me a bit.>>17655068That explains some things. I suppose I just need to accept that games like this are not for completionists because grinding aside it's not feasibly possible to get everything without paying an insane amount of money. Not that I really entertained such delusions in the first place but I still have trouble shaking that "what if" feeling in the back of the mind.Anyway, I've been getting a little sidetracked here, so here's Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot.
>>17655832>kusoI see you are an educated and worldly individual. I also like to throw in a random nihonjin word in my sentences.
>>17655989>Man, I tried to do the summer event for the free Scathach and it was so unbearably long that I burnt out after finishing the first half.>This Lite version>LongThat's nothing compared to when we had to deal with Rashomon, Go West and Onigashima events back to back for a month and a half without pause between them, that was fucking horrible taking into account that Rashomon already burned most people thanks to the raid mechanics.
>>17656125Yeah, I'm worried about what a normal length event will be like if Lite versions are this much work. I don't think I've seen one yet since I've started playing, but I guess this next one with Ishtar will be? Fun times. At any rate, I thought I wasn't going to get Scathassassin because I had plans for today but those got canceled so I'm trying to blow through Chaldea Heat Odyssey as fast as I can in these last few hours. Chapter 4 so far, hope I can make it.
>>17657029The trick is to level a team that can farm quickly and consistently (Arash, Spartacus, Bloodaxe/Bunyan with 50% meter CEs and a support Waver is probably the easiest to put together early on), and then do all your farming without really thinking about it while doing something else. Basically all the FGO grinding I've ever done has been while watching anime or talking to friends. Also, I've never found grinding in lite versions of events to be that much faster (although this one is certainly less of a headache due to not having to consult a spreadsheet to check who boosts what drop).
>>17655989>>17657029>too underleveledTip: FGO is unfriendly to latecomers. And by the sound of it, you joined way too damn late. Joining after Solomon is basically HAHAHA GET FUCKED. Summer re-run isn't even long, 1st run was even worse since the bonus distribution was retarded. You don't even have to build everything unless you are want to collect the scenes. If you just want scathath, you just need the bare minimum quest completions and you won't need to clear the shop anyway. If you find this too long, you really should just quit now.
>>17657029You're gonna be screwed for the next summer event. There's only like 2 non gold servants for the bonus. With free ishtar, that's only +4 for f2p folks.
>>17657120>>17657140>>17658437Well, I somehow managed to get her, so I'm feeling more confident about my ability to complete events than I was when I made my earlier posts, especially considering I pounded through it in the last couple days and I'll have like 20 days for the next event. Unfortunately I was doing it right up to the last minute so I just barely missed getting the last level of her NP, which is annoying because if I'd done a few things slightly differently I would have made it, but oh well. Better than not having her at all and never having another chance to get her. I really like Scathach so I'm satisfied with this. Thanks for all the tips and the chart though. I'm surprised at just how many FGO players there are on /m/. I'll make use of the advice and focus my EXP on those three for easier farming. I've been told I've had pretty good luck with Craft Essences, I have a Kaleidoscope, Imaginary Element, and the one I can't spell where Kiara is pressing her breast against the Earth, so I guess those will be helpful for this too.Incidentally, I suppose that in the case of the Ishtar event, it's new to NA so even if I weren't to finish it there will be a rerun, so unless I'm mistaken I'll have another chance next year, when I might be more prepared. Not to say I won't try, since a year is a long time, but the rerun events seem more important to not miss. Of course I guess importance is relative since I could always end up drawing some 5 star that outclasses the welfare servants, but you know what I mean.

>>17658636You know what? When I logged in today it actually let me finish the battle I had started for the last Gae Bolg Replica despite the event being over for 12 hours so I spoke too soon and actually did end up getting NP5 too. It seems every time I say something in this thread I end up being wrong about it the next time I post so I'm just going to shut up and not say anything else.

>>17660626How come she's named Frankenstein when Frankenstein is supposed to be the name of the doctor, not the monster? It feels implausible that they would make that mistake.
>>17660950Frankenstein is the doctor's surname. The monster is the doctor's creation, and thus his child. What's wrong with the child adopting the father's surname?
>>17660950Because of how often people refer to or think of Frankenstein's Monster as actually Frankenstein, she's actually taken his spot in the throne. IIRC, there's an interlude where you have to fight his angry ghost for it.

>>17667607>apple user>being retardStop the press!
>>17660626>>17666801I really wish FGO wasn't a mobage. A lot of the events actually have some neat ideas underneath but eventually end up underwhelming because mobage is such a shitty way to tell a story. The Dead Heat thing would have made for a neat OVA or manga short featuring some hot blooded racing action.
>>17653441>About that, is there some special way to get a lot of bond points?During non-events: Farm on stages with good bp payout for ap spent on the stage. Always have your character you're levelling in the party, front or back. Equip chaldea lunchtime and heroic spirit portrait, and pick a support with lunchtime. If you're new, you're stuck with the the latter until the lunchtime successor comes out or you manage to get rare prisms to unlock lunchtime and HSP.During events, just always keep your character in the party as you farm stuff or whatever as you save to buy stuff from the shop.Story stages and interludes give out a lot of bp.Bond 6-10 give out awards (attached is where I was awarded 13 quartz for passing 5 bond milestones in the same battle, for fun), which is why their requirements are so much higher. Certain bond CEs have effects that vary in effectiveness but overall they're just an autism badge your friends can add to their pokedex. After Babbage, I will gradually bond level Caster Nero (got spooked) who attacks with mobile armor chunks complete with bits. I'll probably get MHXX too next year who has a bunch of mecha references in her attacks.
>>17668591FGO's problem is that it ties the event story too heavily to the gameplay which inevitably results in a fuckton of padding to make an excuse for people to do battles. Granblue Fantasy had the same problem when it launched but they learned how to handle their event stories pretty smartly and don't constantly hamfist in battles if it's not conducive to the story (and as a result you aren't wasting precious AP just to get through the event story and having your progress artificially limited). Granted, if you don't like visual novels it's not going to change your view but I'd be really suspicious of a Fate fan that doesn't like visual novels.
>>17668760 FGO is shit because it is half assed in trying to be a VN.
>>17668760>>17668774FGO story is fine compared to other mobileshit which don't even try to have any event narrative not relating to whatever fight you selected. Since you guys aren't using sage, I may as well reply to other posts.>>17666801Fran is overheated and the wind cools her off.>>17658437+9 is a minimal bonus for the event if you got AssScat and have a good support. It's genuine horseshit we didn't get a welfare 3* CE and I spent almost a million fp to get a total of 8 (which I'll get back anyway at Nerofest and xmas). Also, I made that guide and one detail about it (do the nodes in order to get the top 3's awards) was wrong. Please ignore that.
>>17633983I'm genuinely pissed off.
>>17668807>compared to other mobileshitBecause mobage isn't a high bar.
>>17668591I get what you mean. As much as I like FGO I still wish I could get the story in some other form. Then again, the easy to produce format of mobages is probably one of the reasons we can have events like this in the first place. The devs can just just go through with these wacky ideas since the risks involved are not nearly as big as in, for example, anime production.>>17668760>>17668774To give credit where it's due, FGO JP has gotten a lot better during the last year or so. New events and especially main story chapters don't force battles on you nearly as much as they used to. The VN portions have gotten better too, with more still shots and bits of animation. Still not anything spectacular, but a noticeable improvement. Funnily enough, since I play on JP, I have to read most of the story translations in plain text, but I've found that I almost enjoy the story more in this kind of pseudo LN form.
I will never understand what people see in FGO, especially given what I've heard about it's lack of gameplay and punishing even for a gatcha game rates.
>>17674808It's probably the only game out there with such an entertaining crossover of historical figures. I doubt there will ever be another game where Charles Babbage and Frankenstein's monster can interact. But yes, the rates are garbage and it's inferior to Granblue.
>>17674870Are historical figures that much of a draw? Not that Frankenstein's monster is any more historical than D'artagnan.
>>17674878Well, famous novels are a part of history. But in my case, yes, because I like history. It's why I enjoy the fact that Jeanne d'Arc is also in Granblue Fantasy for some reason.
>>17674808There are generally two types:1) Long time Fate fags.2) Gacha addictsOf the former, they care more about the lore/story. In fact yeah, you often see complaints about how they don't like the direction the franchise is going. It's why the /vg/ generals are an entirely different beast from the /jp/ general even though they're both supposed to be fate fags.Of the latter, the gacha rates don't matter cuz addicts gotta feed their addiction.Anyway, gameplay wise, it ain't much to speak of since it's a mobage after all. That said, some of the challenge quests can be pretty neat and works for what it is: a time killer. Also, the rates are shit yes, but to "balance" it off, unlike other gacha mobage, you can clear the game with free and common servants plus friend support, so you don't really have to spend money if you're not a gacha addict.
>>17633983Chrome Disaster from Accel World
>>17651528Oh Fortnite now has mechas right?
>>17675867Yep. Haven't tried them yet but they look pretty badass.
>>17675862>Accel World>generally non-/m/ propertyQuestionable categorization imo.
>>17675846While FGO balances it by having low-tier and welfare servants being adequately strong (in fact I'm told some like rider Kintoki are better than the actual gacha servants), on the other side of the spectrum you have Granblue Fantasy, which does enough free draws throughout the year (including right at this very moment) that it does not take long to obtain some pretty good SSRs. Hard to say if that's better, but it's a lot more satisfying seeing all that gold in the inventory. I mean the rates are certainly better at least.Side note, this music may not have anything to do with mecha, but it is /m/ as fuck:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQNKKGBARto
Are we just gonna ignore mechaduck? Or are we better than that?
>>17670009I dont care about artoria as much as i used to over a decade ago but mhxx has that sickass blazblue powerarmor that makes me want to roll her.
>>17655832Soo much Obari. Also; several scenes almost literally lifted and replicated from Tekkaman Blade...
>>17676307The rates are good, there's plenty of free draws year round, and you're not gated on needing SSRs for most content-- in fact there's content specifically limited to just Rs or SRs. And GBF tops it all off by actually having engaging gameplay. FGO may "not be bad for a mobage," but GBF is a mobage that is better than a mobage.FGO's popularity being a shitty game with shitty rates (and a _lot_ of shitty costumes) just baffles me in a world where GBF exists.
>>17676507I think part of it is that FGO has big flashy battle animations. Granblue has a couple of exceptions, like the recent Code Geass guests, but generally has much simpler animations. Also, outside of Japan, there's the whole issue of no official release. The game is available in English, but you won't find it in the various stores. Also, the core game being tied to web design makes menu navigation kind of slow.
>>17676507Fgos popularity comes from the writing of it's character's and story. Hell events are basically written to be "roll this character despite the fact that theyre probably shit"
>>17676507Doesn't GBF suffer from the average mobage problem of "roll the latest characters or give up on any new content"?
>>17676507>>17676307Because at the end of the day, FGO is a Fate property first, and a video game 2nd. It's the same deal with just about any other Fate related games that isn't the VN or Melty Blood. Take the Extra series: shit ton of lore, details about the setting, interesting concepts etc but again, dog shit gameplay that's either a boring RPS system or crappy musou. Similar deal with FGO, for long time Fate fags, the story and events are the key thing. In fact, you'll notice a recurring thing: people keep talking about GBF being more forgiving in terms of rates, but once you start to talk about the setting and the characters, you'll find that it goes back to talking about FGO, as compared to other mobage, it's the one that places more focus on that shit. Also, there's very little powercreep in FGO and there's no PVP, which again means very little pressure for people to throw money for new shiny characters (again, unless you're a gacha addict). You can use whatever you've rolled in the early days and somewhere along the line, they'll even get new/improved skills to better fit later content.Long story short, it's why as said before, FGO shouldn't have been a mobage. As with others like Extra series, it always feel like Fate tend to half ass their entrance to another game genre or that they only sort of reluctantly enter it. They do put considerably effort in writing out the story scenario but kept botching it when it comes to the gameplay.
>>17676507Because FGO is more than just a mobage, it's also the current mainline work for a major multi media franchise known as Type-Moon and even affects other Fate spin offs. Even if you don't care about gacha, as long as you care about other Fate works, you'll still end up having to pay attention to FGO. If you just want another gacha game to pick up, then yeah, you'll have a hard time getting why FGO is so big, but if you look at FGO is just another arm of the massive sprawling entity of the Nasuverse, then it makes complete sense. You really shouldn't compare with Grandblue, they're competing on very different targets.
>>17676728Not at all. There has been times where latest characters are good for specific builds, but the quality of your weapon grid which has basically zero to do with your gatcha pulls is far more important.Plus bleeding edge content is just for people who want to squeeze every last number out of their weapon grid and largely has nothing to do with completing event or story content.
>>17676507>>17676838I have not played GBF so I can't really compare, but I don't think FGOs gameplay is nearly as shit as you make it out to be. Its not the greatest thing, but I would not consider it shit either. The problem is more in the fact that you have to play for quite a while before you get to a point where the game mechanics start mattering. Only when you face challenging enough content to necessitate actual strategy and have enough of a servant roster to get creative with team building can you start to see what the gameplay is about. There is a reason why majority of the meta characters are support casters. Getting a decent roster is not even tied to getting lucky with the gacha as most characters, regardless of rarity, fulfill their own niche in team building. And weaker or powercrept characters often get buffed to keep the power levels consistent. It does take a fucking while to get there though. You can caveman your way through most of part 1 story. But now that part 2 story and events expect you to have properly leveled characters, the devs can actually give you worthwhile fights. But even then I do admit the story still carries a lot of the game.
>>17676728>>17676910And if you want to talk downright OP characters that would be dark Zooey who was released three years ago at this point, still isn't necessarily vital to own because newer content specifically counters her, and if you really want her you can always save up for a spark and just straight up get her without having to be lucky enough to draw her. But like the second poster said, weapon grids are what matter and you get that from just playing the game.Picture is actually not dark Zooey but I wanted to post it because she's a Gundam.
Less robot and more powered armor, but the early plans for Pandora Mode being summoned armor was interesting. Too bad it lasted less than a chapter or two and instead became vague hardlight equipment.
>>17678645I understand though, it would take someone who both plays the game and knows the meme, and there's probably not a lot of overlap between those two groups.

When do they add this awesome thing? Next year's summer event?
>>17704089Yes, Summer 3.
I watched the first season of Asura Cryin many years ago just because Kurogane looked so cool and sadly I did not like it anywhere near as much as I would have liked to. Good theme song though, Angela never disappoints. They should put it in SRW someday as one of those weird unexpected picks that nobody was asking for. It would be a nice way to redeem a mediocre series.
I recently did a Saint Seiya (1986) marathon and I forgot about the three anime-original Steel Saints. Of course watching the series as an adult they're clearly poorly shoehorned Poochie-tier characters for the kids to self-insert as, but they actually have cool armors since they were made to be super toyetic. It's just hilarious that they're introduced as these mysterious badasses who look like they're going to be super important for a couple of episodes, then we get their origin as Mitsumasa Kido's secret trump card and they're quickly forgotten aside from the BUY TOYS eyecatch where they're front and center
>>17706726Not too related but that reminds me how I was watching it on TV once as a kid, when it was called Knights of the Zodiac and the theme song was I Ran, and my father started singing along with it. At the time I did not know it was a cover of a famous song so it was very surprising. In retrospect though, who the heck decided I Ran was a fitting theme song for Saint Seiya?

>>17708736No idea. Bowling for Soup was probably the ADR guy's favorite band, and aurora borealis has something to do with stargazing? They probably wanted to license a song really quick since I guess Pegasus Fantasy would make kids turn the channel. Were they even selling toys for this in NA, or just censored dub DVDs?
>>17711073I dunno, I hardly even remember the show lasting very long on American TV in the first place. I figure it was a 0079 situation where it was just way too old for kids to care, regardless of the quality of the show. Still wish they'd at least done a dubbed version of Pegasus Fantasy instead though. It is such a manly song.

I said I'd do it.Who else is /m/ to come? Mecha Liz, Danzo, MHXX, and Okita J?Liz is a welfare, XX I'll probably get rolling for BB, and Okita is possible.Danzo though I'm likely to skip.
>>17721920Do you spend any real money on this game? I feel like the rates are so bad that I could save up all the free quartz they give out for the entire next year and still not end up getting the character I want.
>>17721920Avicebron, Orthenaus eggplant, Xiang Yu (I guess?). Summer BB's attacks are Getter references but she's not really /m/ otherwise, so I guess she doesn't count.
>>17722395I really do hate this meme about FGO's rates. They're the same, if not slightly better than other gachas.
>>17722441That's not true. Granblue Fantasy's SSR rate is 3%. FGO's rate is 1%. And GBF has a monthly legfes which boosts the SSR rate to 6%. Merely looking at the percentages they outright tell us, it's obvious that FGO is stingier.
>>177224446% doesn't mean shit when the individual character on rate up is the lower than FGO's rate up rate.
>>17722450I would contend that the individual rates in both games are so low that trying to get a specific character is a fool's errand even on rate up and thus Granblue remains superior rate-wise because you have a significantly higher chance of getting an SSR, even if it's random who it is. And that's before sparking which is reasonably attainable as a free player due to the sheer amount of free crystals and tickets they give out. I'm aware FGO has a similar feature to sparking but it seems to be practically impossible to do without being an enormous whale.
>>17722395Not him, but I'm f2p because thankfully most of my favs are either event rewards or aren't that rare.
>>17722450>Zeta>tfw it feels like she's on permanent 100% drop rate in my gacha attemptsI have no idea why copies of her variants' unlock weapons keep showing up in my rolls even when she's off the listed rate-up. The RNG is a strange mistress.
>>17723713I have that "problem" with Vaseraga. Think I've gotten at least five Mistilteinns and almost as many Wurtzite Scythes. Granted I'm not too bothered about getting weapons I can uncap without spending any valuable materials, and some gold moons on top of that. But it's funny that of all characters' weapons for us to keep getting, it's those two connected characters.
