>We finally made a Godzilla movie that Japan really likesIt took so long but it feels so good. I know it's weird but I love these little international bonding moments. Maybe not all that many people in America are huge Godzilla fans, but there's enough that we managed to get this movie made, and that's got to send a message that people here really do love the franchise. That's what I hope in my pollyanna little heart of hearts, at least.
>>17534349This picture is from 2013. Someone was way ahead of the curve.
>>17534321>>17534337monky will put up a good fight but Godzilla will inevitably thrash him, and then they use Ghidorah's DNA to bring Kong back from the brink and consequently give him lighting powers that he uses when he and Godzilla team up against Hedorah.

Went to theatre to watch it today after having previously only watched it on camripQuite enjoyed it, bits in the credits about the next film that I liked was the implication Godzilla and Kong won't fight because of some other villain, or not primarily, but because of some ancient grudgeAnd also that Kong'll be about a head shorter than Godzilla
>>17534255Probably they didn’t scaled the set properly because they shot it in real location and it would be difficult and unnecessary to build a bigger set that match the size.>>17534428Detective Pikachu also surprisingly well receive in Japan. So would Goji have won the second fight in the ocean if the military didn't fire the Oxygen Destroyer?
>>17534807Probably. Biting off Lefty was metal as fuck, and in addition to having no arms Ghidorah seemed to lose a lot of mobility in the water. Meanwhile Godzilla moves best in water, and because he actually has hands he can rip and tear better than Ghidorah, who just has two heads. But if Ghidorah can regenerate his heads as fast as, or faster than Godzilla can tear them off, he might be able to get away.
>>17534807The air and land is Ghidorah's element. the sea is Goji's element. Plus Ghidorah struggled hard in the water.
My concept for Godzilla vs Kong is kinda freaky:-First act of the movie is an invasion on certain continents by full grown Skull Crawlers (named revealed to be krodaran, with their Alpah being Gran Kordaran). It's revealed they created the hollow Earth network, and the other Kaiju routinely kill them due to them being a threat to all life on the planet.-Most of them are killed by other Kaiju around the globe, causing little damage, but their Alpha fights Godzilla.-Godzilla initially has the upper hand, but when the fight starts turning, Kong shows up to help. Usinga makeshift wooden knife, Kong makes a gash on the creatures stomach, then holds it down while Godzilla fires the atomic breath into the gash, burning it alive.-When everything seems peaceful, Kong attacks Godzilla (believing it to be the cause for the creatures attacks across the globe, which happened due to Ghidora's cry in KOTM). Too tired and injured from fighting the Kordaran, he's defeated by Kongs quick reflexes, becoming the new alpha, while Godzilla silently retreats into the ocean.-Act two has Godzilla out of the action for a while, and Kong tries to make it's way back to Skull Island, but it's attacked by a strange flying creature in route.-Reports of some of the Titans being killed or taken around the globe by a strange flying creature.-The MC has to find Kong and the missing Titans, since the one's still around are now very agitated without an Alpha and attacking anything in sight to defend their territory.
>>17534824-The monster attacking Titans around the globe is revealed as a flying Chimera made out of parts of Kaiju seen before (Ghidora's head serves as a tail, Rodan's wings, a MUTO head with a larger lower jaw)) and a few we haven't. -This time it fights Godzilla underwater. Both are evenly matched until Godzilla bites a leg off, forcing the creature to flee. After noticing the Ghidora head on the tail (and the ripped out front leg regrowing into Ghidora's leg) he decides to follow it.-Final act is in the main villains facility. They intend to use the monsters to destroy humanity (the irony of using chimera to do it is lost on them), placing their chimera as the alpha to lead the monsters into a new age.-At this point, Godzilla arrives and fights the Chimera.-During the fight, Kong figures out how to escape from containment, stages a kaiju jailbreak-The monsters team up on the Chimera, and kill it.-When it all seems over, it starts getting up, grabs onto two other Kaiju, and starts absorbing them, becoming Kaiser Ghidora-Everyone realizes the Chimera was never under the control of the terrorists, it was always Ghidora, bidding it's time until it could return. The added DNA, however, made it much stronger.
Why is everyone glossing over the biggest plot reveal the credits did, that mankind's going to use kaiju shit as a clean fuel
>>17534826-After being formed, most of the kaiju leave, save for Kong and Godzilla.-Godzilla acts as the muscle in the fight, while Kong uses the floor, and columns of the huge metal facility as weapons.-When Ghidora starts losing, it uses a new attack, that has the wings act like giant beams, hitting Godzilla with full force.-However, it has the side effect of making Godzilla stronger.-When Ghidora realizes what's about to happen, it tries to run, but Kong rips Ghidora's wings off with a sharp piece of metal.-Godzilla proceeds to hit Ghidora with the Red Spiral Heat Ray, then again, then again (the way the scene is framed, what's left of Ghidora almost seems like it's begging for Godzilla to stop), until there's nothing left. Cue Kong taking a bite out of Ghidora's wings, then spitting it out.Movie ends with Kong and Godzilla looking like they're about to fight, then heading their separate ways.
>>17534770>>17534826why do both of you have some weird absorption fetish? Why do we need ghidorah to vore genetic abominations?
>>17534827One cubic meter of crap has enough phosphorus to fertilize an entire field!

what if the winner of the final fight is randomly determined because there's two cuts of the film in theaters, like the clue movie
Just saw War of the Gargantuas. I really enjoyed it. Sanda and Gaira are probably among the best non-Godzilla kaiju.
>>17534878That is too good to be true in this time and age so it won't happen
>>17534881Yeah, it's really great. Dat ending. I recommend trying some Ultraman if you haven't already
>>17534362I kinda like it. It sounds weird and otherworldly, like an ayylmao dragon should.I think they incorporated it into the newest movie, but distorted it, didn't they?
>>17534906Yeah, but it's so distorted that even trying to listen to it I think I only heard it when he gets out of the ice
>>17534321This isn't the 60s anymore. Most Americans barely know about Kong, let alone have any affection for him. They aren't going to have Kong win cuz America vs Japan hoorah. Nobody really cares about that aspect anymore. As it is most people are asking how it's even going to be a fair fight at all. Godzilla survived a drop from the atmosphere in the last movie. No amount of trees Kong hits him with is going to mean shit. Even Dougherty has had to come out to say it won't be one sided, (and even then he admits that Kong is the clear underdog) citing the fact that Kong will be fully grown, Kong's intelligence, and that Kong is a tool user. Could Kong win? Sure, but it'll be a stretch, and I don't think it's a forgone conclusion, especially with how popular Godzilla is. That said, it probably will end with a team up, and mecha Godzilla is probably going to be in there somewhere since this is the last Monsterverse movie they've got contracts for, so I see them using the rights to him there since it's use it or lose it at this point.
I don't know if anyone here would know, but is Godzilla Unleashed a bitch to emulate?
>>17534956Kong will win because he is an ape and they're closer to humans than the giant alligator
>>17534845using the godzilla skeleton from the first movie, the eco terrorist guys will use a resuscitated ghidorah head as a power source for Mecha Godzilla, which will ultimately go haywire due to the influence of Lefty 1.
>>17535008>middle revives himself out of sheer rage at how much Lefty fucks up
>>17535014Twist: Lefty is much more successful than Middle at everything.
>>17535014>from a powered lefty, ghidorah as a whole begins to regenerate inside Mechagodzilla, and the climax is a monstrous half finished clone of Ghidorah bursting from inside Mechagodzilla
Would this be considered the first Godzilla movie of the Reiwa era?
>>17535029depends on what toho plans to do next, if they go ahead with their cinematic universe idea for the next 10 years those will likely recieve the reiwa era name instead
>>17535031I'm really hoping that mention of a standalone King Ghidorah movie wasn't just weird translation. I'd love villain/anti-hero adventures in space feat Gigan
>>17534900I’m a huge Ultraman fan. The original series is one of my favorite shows of all time.
>>17534807It's basically implied that Gojira was pretty much gonna take care of business right then and there, he caught Ghidorah off-guard and got himself a turf-advantage, only for the military to fuck it all up like retards, once again not listening to Serizawa. I mean, obviously it would've been pretty gay to have KG merked barely halfway into the movie so it makes sense they fucked it up, it was cool that they basically showed us Godzilla was more than capable of taking KG out while in his own element.
>>17535038I like how you can see one or two heads popping up at a time gasping for air.Ghidorah could somehow travel through space, but can't manage to not drown.
>>17534878FUCK YOU! I WANT THIS SO BAD! THE MEME POTENTIAL IN 2019 IS TOO FUCKING HIGH! FUND IT, FUND IT NOW!
>>17535033That could be great.
>>17534807I assumed that was the point. Godzilla finally had the advantage and was going to win, but the military screwed it up.
>>17535042More like he was just trying to get the fuck out of there. Ghidorah didn’t need Oxygen.
>>17535042There's not needing oxygen, and there's being held down by a giant atomic lizard who hates your guts while water pressure forces the ocean into your open mouths.
>If you pay attention to the news clippings before the credits you can see Godzilla is actively protecting humans nowBased Goji
So what is the most satisfying Godzilla victory?Gonna go with “Terror of Mechagodzilla.”>Monster who not only beat you, but took you an ally and magnet powers to beat, comes back>Said monster is upgraded>Now has a second monster with him>Fight them two on one>Not only beat both of them, but kill the alien force controlling them, then head back to the sea once again
>>17535069Humanity became his pet after all, and unlike humans with shit like the Oxygen Destroyer stunt or releasing Ghidorah to begin with, he doesn't fuck up.
>>17534956Okay, but what if the tree is Biollante
>>17535042>>17535057Somehow I doubt he flapped his wings through interstellar space, neglecting to breath the whole time. He was probably in some kind of suspended animation or other travel form. It would be cool if he was frozen in an ice comet.
>>17535092That'd be hilarious.>traveled who knows how long in an ice rock hurtling through space>landed on earth, got his ass kicked, and then was thrown into the ice, again
>>17535069Is the least he can do after he saw Serizawa sacrificing himself to give him a boost. Kaijus are quite the sapient creatures here.
>>17535092Lefty just forgot to breathe during the space trip so they were fine.
>As far as franchise fatigue with Legendary’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters tanking, Emmerich said that next year’s monster movie Godzilla vs. Kong “will deliver for fans in the way they were looking for” in the latest Godzilla. “It might come out later in the year, so we can deliver an A+ movie” said Emmerich.https://deadline.com/2019/06/warner-studio-toby-emmerich-peter-roth-dc-netflix-godzilla-vs-kong-kevin-tsujihara-1202629538/Thoughts?

>>17535106>franchise fatigusThese journalists need to fuck off.
>>17535106>marvel>shits out a movie every year for several years straight>no franchise fatigue>godzilla>2 movies with a five year gap>instant franchise fatigue
>>17535123>marvel>shits out a movie every yearOnly one movie?
>>17535123>>instant franchise fatigueI don't think it's fatigue, but that 5 years between the first Godzilla movie and the second was just too long to keep audiences invested in a sprawling universe.
>>17535069Also, a ton of the redacted text in the credits is Hollow Earth Ancients Lore. All the different Ancient Civilizations had their own Titan deity protectors, but they ended up screwing shit up when some of them tried to use their Titans as weapons of war against each other. This ended up turning most Titans against humans and between that and Ghidorah's arrival and first fight with Godzilla, the Ancients were destroyed. Then Ice Ages came and the Titans retreated, with the survivors of the Ancients passing the stories down into their myths.
Assuming GvK is the last Monsterverse movie, do you guys think they'll continue the Monsterverse is another way? If they do, what format would you like to see it continued in? Novels? Comics? Maybe even an animated web series?
>>17535092You seem to forget the part where the Oxygen Destroyer did nothing, which is how they knew he was from space.
>>17535141That and regrowing his head.
>>17535136Doing anything with Monsterverse will require to keep paying Toho for licenses, and if movies fail, I don't see that happening. Unless Toho take their heads out of their asses and actually partners up with Legendary and stops ripping them off for their characters, I have severe doubts about Monsterverse.Goddamnit Toho, stop being retarded.

>>17535577No. I think KotM's successes are more in being a general action movie than playing to the strengths of Godzilla (even the more bombastic Godzilla it tries to replicate). Still a solid movie, though.
>>17535563Through hate, unity!
So gonna ask again, why did Tsubaraya and Toho Studios drifted apart? Godzilla can't have a crossover with Ultra.
>>17535595Because it's separate IP own by different company, it is simple as that. It didn't help that Tsubaraya himself overworked to death just after Ultraseven and his son was incomplete who got scammed by Sompote led to a colossal mess that is Ultraman copyright.
>>17535730> and his son was incompletesorry what
>>17535743*incompetentSorry for typo.
How can Mothra fly without swinging her wings like a madmoth? Her flying looks more as if she was swimming instead. Is it because it wouldn't be as majestic? Is part of her magic kit?
>>17535761Mothra mostly glides half the timeBut really, god magic
>>17535761Rodan is less plausible as not only can he fly in spite of his mass at supersonic speed, but he can also carry other kaiju exceeding his own weight
>>17535764Read "glides" as "dies"Still fitting
>>17535730Yeah you'd think there'd be good will because Tsubaraya helped created Godzilla

>>17535891This looks cool.
>>17535946>NOW I'M A JERK, AND EVERYBODY LOVES ME!
>>17535918>>17535924Giant scorpions are common in Western films tho to the point is become obligatory (which kinda annoys me) probably because it easy to pull off by stop-motion and looks impressive.

>>17535943>>17535946I really like behemoth he's perfect but I do wish they kept the trunk.
>>17535978Is this Scylla or someone else?
>>17536096Someone else, this is Scylla
Also, this guy looks sick
>>17536106Ah, I see where Monsterverse Lovecraft got his inspiration.
>>17536106Isn’t this the one in the novel that plays dead in order to escape containment?
>>17536110Kraken perhaps since there was one in the novel, and kraken was considered a secret Titan, unless this is scylla's earlier design. Though I'm still curious who the scorpion monster is?
>>17536093Concept art still show he has a little trunk. May be the same as in the movie we just need a good screenshot to look at it.>>17536096Probably other Kaiju, he may be Sargon, the rhinosaur may be Baphomet or Abaddon, >>17536106 this guy definitely Leviathan.I hope when Blu-ray come out or we get the extended version, we get more scenes with these guys.
>>17536123Leviathan was actually described as a serpentine creature and was actually briefly Seen in the movie according to to people if you look at the monitors closely. Apparently it's Nessie.
>>17536129I thought Leviathan and Nessie are separate Kaiju. I saw some list that has their name list together.
>>17534427Gigan is probably the best kaiju redesign of all time.
>>17534649>Project Mechagodzilla was made to suppress other alphas >Rowdy monsters are rounded up at an island, and Project Jet Jaguar is the island’s warden
>>17536142Never saw Nessie listed on any list.
>>17536171That's a huge banana.
>>17536199I was kinda hoping Gigan would appear in KOTM (I know they don't have the license for him) as a "normal" monster with no mechanical parts, so he could be maimed and turned into classic Gigan for the next film.
Can we get more wholesome art here?
>>17536241There's tons of wholesome Godzilla/Mothra art now, and more every day.
>>17536244Aside from those two
>>17536249Well, the next big thing I see are cool action shots/poster poses.
do you think the post-credits scene means mechagodzilla in a future film?
>>17536265Perhaps. There was some leak about MG being in GvK, but I'm not sure it's true. KTOM credits montage does imply it's under construction.
>>17536265Which one? I missed them
>>17536265nah, its going to be mecha kong
>>17536306No, Mechani-Kong and Mechagodzilla
>>17536265They bought the rights didn't they?
>>17536338I don't know how true this is, but I've heard that when they announced the sequel to G14, they were able to get four Toho monsters instead of three. They already had the rights for Godzilla, so three of the four extras were Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah. They used Mechagodzilla in Ready Player One, but I don't know if that was some sort of one time deal, or if he's the mystery fourth monster.
How big were the population of each titan species anyway? There couldn't have been that many of them.
>>17536582Maybe the ones we see in the movies are only that big due to their age, and when they were more widespread they'd die due to competition before getting that big? Wouldn't explain Mothra though.
>>17535577KOTM is definitely a Showa Godzilla film.
All hands for Miki Saegusa appearing in Godzilla vs Kong say "I"
>>17536612That'd be nice.
>>17536630They could have her replace Serizawafsr I keep picturing Sandra Oh in the role
>>17536652Not sure how well that will work, she doesn't speak english as far as I can tell. Also, she might need to exercise a bit before filming, here's how she looks now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzoeY1sEKxk
>>17536657I hate how they've never had one of the classic goji actors cameo in the legendary films, they really need to fix that with Vs. Kong
Legendary Goji is boring. I don't know what it is about his design, but every time I see him I feel like I took demerol. It just looks boring and wrong, and the CG looks bad too. Help pic unrelated
>>17536660GvK will have Shun Oguri as a Japanese presence. He seems to be pretty popular in Japan. At least Legendary keeps up Japanese representation in their films.
>>17536660We almost had Akira Takarada in 2014.
>>17536661DohaGoji is great, you just have shit taste.
>>17536665he isn't the worst but he's just so fucking boring
>Critics can't fucking grasp the concept that the movie's theme is humanity needing to find a way to coexist with nature >they think it means nothingabsolute brainlets
>>17536660Akira Takarada shot a cameo in 2014 but cut for theatrical releases and for some reason it never release.
>>17536701The worst are the ones that say that the humans are retarded and only watch it for the monster fights.
>>17536701>people that think godzilla is still only about nuclear bombings and don't realize that godzilla has always been an allegory for a wide range of political discussion >not realizing that ghidora is basically climate change and we gotta fucking start dealing with itPeople are dumb and I hate it. I bet they even missed the allegories of ghidorah being literally satan as well.
>>17536701It's there, but it's not particularly insightful or interesting. Most of the human characters and interactions are stock stuff. The action is by far the core of the movie.
>"Order all forces to retreat">Only see the Argo flying away
>>17536770This. People parroting this 54 shit too much in order for themselves to look smart for watching giant monster movie. On the opposite end we get the elite only think Godzilla has to be allegory for the nuclear if the Americans gonna do this and ironically skim over other Godzilla films in franchise. If Japan has that mentality we wouldn’t get movies like GMK or Godzilla vs Hedorah. It is the suitmation all over again, Japan accept it and move on but some fan can’t and stuck in the past.
>>17536813>Squadron, prepare to engage Rodan>2 minutes later>We've lost the entire Squadron
>tfw lurking futaba's Godzilla threads>they discuss Godzilla's atomic breatn in different eras>they call Shin Godzilla's atomic beam the "cabinet resignation beam"
>>17536770It’s dunny whenever people just say he’s an allegory for atomic bombing. It’s like they’re too stupid to understand that he’s an allegory of consequence, which has an insane amount of range.Legendary Goji represents man’s need to coexist with nature. Either we agree to the terms, or we die.
>>17536104Scylla kinda looks like the giant monster from The Mist
>>17536241>MUTOs adopting Shin GojiI didn't expect this to be so cute
>>17536917I like KotM's implication that the planet doesn't give two shits about us, and Earth/life will continue on without us. Kinda reminds me of the Carlin bit about that.
King Ghidorah may be literal Satan, but he's a cute literal Satan.
>>17535730>Because it's separate IP own by different companydidn't stop that kamen rider ultraman cross
Just an observation I haven't seen elsewhere>when going from second to third form, Shin doubles in size in around 20 seconds (if the information isn't false, his mass increases hundredfold, going from 150 tons to 15500)>his initial tantrum lasts for 108 seconds excluding breaks (6 seconds of smoke, 8 seconds of fire the first time, 40 seconds of mouth laser the first time, 8 seconds of back lasers, 24 seconds of mouth laser the second time, around 22 seconds of fire the second time)>his attacks during the final battle have a total duration of 104 seconds (67 seconds of back lasers, 33 seconds of mouth and tail lasers, 2 seconds of fire, 2 seconds of last laser attack)>with only lasers accounted for, 72 seconds and 102 seconds respectively
Lefty don't eat all the snacks
>>17536955I got the implication that the Earth and its monsters would actually make sure humanity would survive, but with or without civilization.Remember that for whatever reason, the ORCA needed a human component to work. This hints at a deeper connection to the monsters than just sharing the same living space.
>>17536887Oh my god
>>17536887What is Shin Godzilla's political stance?

Okay, but what if instead of making a Mecha-King Ghidorah, they use King Ghidorah and Godzilla cells to create Bagan?
>>17537318Then Godzilla and King Kong combine into King Kong piggybacking Godzilla with Rodan as a makeshift spear
Does anybody have a map of the whole world with all the locations and names of the titans labelled on it? I remember seeing one on some site right after the movie but trying to find it again I can only find lists of names, no map.
>>17536826Why didn't the fighters just switch on afterburner and go supersonic?
>>17537393>Lefty getting too close to the cameragod damn it, now it's out of focus
>>17537374You can’t just go supersonic. They have to remove a bunch of stuff on f18’s in order to use it and they wouldn’t have been able to carry hardly any of their weapons, let alone use them. Then even at full fuel they only get something like 5 minutes of flight time if they went full afterburner. So basically...they couldn’t have at all unless they just want d to fly real fast over the water? And they wouldn’t have needed a giant monster there if that is all they wanted to do.
>>17537374>go supersonic>leave everyone on the argo to die
>>17537374They only had 49 rings
>>17536955It's more that King Ghidorah being an alien entity would have forced humanity to extinction and the world would keep turning. With just terrestrial Kaiju around humans would inevitably find a niche to exist in as was shown throughout the history of the planet.
>>17536171this is not okay
>>17536106>>17536110My guess is that’s the Kraken who was briefly described in the novelization (gigantic cephalopod with a shell on it’s back)
>>17536171YOU’RE A BAD BANANA
Confirmed that this was early Ghidorah concept art
>>17537533From Ken Barthlemey
>>17537533>>17537538Glad Dougherty went with more traditional look, but this would work for an original monster.
>>17537301Free radiation for all.
>>17537530I really like what it did in the novel, basically because cephalopod's are intelligent creatures the kraken takes it to a new level where it outright outsmarts the monarch scientists. When ghidorah does his Titan awakining call, the kraken pretend's to play dead by sinking and letting its multiple hearts slow, then it charges against the base and free's itself. Hopefully it shows up in GVK but from the concept art seen here it's probably going to happen.
>>17537538Why wasn't any of this in the artbook?
>>17537568Most artbooks don't include all concept art that was produced, there is just way too much of it for these high budget sci-fi films. Everything from creatures to corridors was concepted a million times before arriving on a final look.
>>17537574But there wasn't any monster development at all. It was all set pieces.
>>17537584Yeah, Godzilla 2014 and Kong skull Island art books are better in the regard. I hope we get encyclopedic book about Kaiju or behind the scene of the creatures to make up for this.
>>17537574>>17537584>>17537593So glad I cancelled my Artbook Order, considering that G14's had unused monsters and etc in it.
>>17534712Not in the movies, but the official monarch timeline had something in I believe the 50's called "The Great Smog of London," and that the toxic gas cloud was possibly caused by the wings of some flying monster that has yet to be identified
>>17537533>>17537538I feel like a very understated yet important aspect of King Ghidorah is his massive body. He isn’t just tall and long, he’s heavy and a powerhouse. In most versions his whole body is bigger than Godzilla, which added to the sense that he’s more dangerous. Grand Ghidorah even made a point about his sheer size and weight by having him bodyslam Mothra mid-air and drop on him.I like the new design, but I do wish they made his body bigger, and the concept are one I would’ve hated.
>>17535765I figured the fact he was a fire creature with lava cracks along his wing edges has something to do with it.His wings heat the air around him, hot air rises, mumble, mumble, flying. It's super science!
>>17537639The anime version is the worst at it despite being 20 kilometres long and therefore bigger than any kaiju save for maybe that retarded MG city. It's so thin.
>>17537683I don't think his body even showed up, its just his overly long heads that looked like spaghetti
>>17537737The model was too much for them to animate, but it was completed and shown briefly. The necks aren't actually that long. It's just space fuckery.
>>17537765Same thing, but standing and with no glowIt's so top-heavy that legs like these should not be able to support it.
>>17537628>>17537628The Great Smog was a real event, killed thousands of people actuallyhttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Smog_of_LondonIn the MONARCH timeline it is speculated that the anticyclone that caused the real-life smog to form (itself consisting of industrial pollutants) was created by the beating of “giant wings”
>>17537800For some reason, Rodan swearing in a different language fits. He's that type of guy
>>17537800>The STATE of Rodan
>>17537683The anime everything is the worst version. Those movies hardly count as Godzilla movies.>>17537765That right there is those movies on a nutshell.>*Shows almost nothing*>Oh well it’s actually there and cooler than it is in the movies, we just didn’t put it in!
>>17537822Dang was he that larger in the movie because if so I believe it. Some of the shots had rodan farther away than him
>>17537765I honestly think his title as a Golden Demise is best part of his character, for some reason I really like it
>>17537821Godzilla is fine. The concepts for the other two monsters and the novels are fine. It's basically the original characters taken to their logical extreme. The actual movies? Hahahahaha no. Literally every single concept is utilized incorrectly, the monsters are barely present to begin with and when they are present, they barely do anything. It just goes downhill after Planet of Monsters and that movie was no masterpiece. You could say that the monsters' lack of screentime and unimpressive fights are also taken to their logical extreme.Just watch Attack on Titan if you want a protagonist screaming his head off while scraps of humanity fight big monsters and an occasional kaiju-sized one. Hell, Haruo turning into Jet Jaguar to fight Godzilla and co. might have made the trilogy at least cheesy enough to watch.
>>17537842What critics are saying about KotM is the reality of the anime trilogy.
>>17537841The glow it has makes it look almost divine
>>17537840I don't think the size difference was that extreme.
>>17537860Actually, just looked at one of the trailers. It might be that extreme. Pretty big size difference anyway.
>>17537808>>17537811No you don't understand, Rodan is playing the long game, the moment these "Alphas" kill each other, he will be there to fill the power vacuum

>>17537821>>Oh well it’s actually there and cooler than it is in the movies, we just didn’t put it in!Same problem as Brad Bird's Tomorrowland. Awesome supplementary material, but the actual movie is mediocre.

If Monsterverse movies end with GvK, how would you feel about Toho adapting that continuity into a proper anime series?

>>17538055wouldn't care, there's nothing interesting about the world. the allure of the monsterverse is seeing an american take on the godzilla series which utilizes a different cultural lens and huge effects budgets. nobody cares about monarch in and of itself, it's a discount science patrol fused with g-force
just saw shin godzilla what does kg think of it?
>>17538103>8103▶>https://youtu.be/q1Iuq0U3uzQ [Embed]i thought he hated KOTM
>>17538132Godzilla scenes are spread out rather well the first half, but then he takes a nap and almost disappears although his presence is still felt.Human characters were mostly forgettable, but served their purpose. They don't get annoying and, PM and co. aside, nobody is truly useless. Its take on Godzilla is fresh, but doesn't derivate too much like a certain mecha city. Angel Tower might be a bit too much, but it makes sense. 7 days of fire are bound to happen.
>>17538115The world is way more interesting than most movies in the series
>>17538132Only real issues I had with it is that it took me a while to get into it before Godzilla first showed up, but that's not necessarily the movie's fault, I'm probably just more used to more cliched Western movie openings. And during the massive stretch when he's out of commission, I almost forgot this was a Godzilla movie, despite the actual political-scientific drama keeping up my attention just fine.
>>17538132I liked it, even though it did feel much more like Evangelion movie than Godzilla.
>>17538169I can easily see one of ShinG's latter stages being literally Giant Naked Rei
>>17538169>all those Decisive Battle remixesI love you Sagisu but come on
>>17538132Neither the ultra /TV/ megafan, nor do I hate it. It's in my top 5. I adore Godzilla's designs, I love the sound design and music. The pacing in the first half is solid, but dips a bit in the second half. I forgive it because of that ending, one of the best endings to any monster movie in my opinion. Wouldn't recommend to anybody, but it's a solid G movie. About tied with KotM for me.
>>17538179>AnybodyMeant to put "everyone." Wouldn't recommend to everybody, despite loving it, myself.

>>17538342Man I can't wait for the BluRay/Directors Cut now since there's more scenes in it
>>17537374Rodan's whole thing is supposed to be supersonic flight - it wouldn't have helped them if he got serious. Asshole he was, he was just playing with the Argo.

>>17538445God I hope so. KOTM 3h Directors Cut would be great
>>17537538I think this design would work well as a "Zilla" for the real Ghidorah.
>>17537538This one definitely gives out more space alien vibes.
>>17538445>>17538450Go to minute 22, he says they'll include roughly half a dozen scenes. I don't think that's gonna add up to three hours.

>>17538592It makes me very happy that Japan like KOTM, but it makes me very annoyed with western purity fans
>>17538592It's autism. People here don't really know what the fuck they want. >>17538592The thing with Japanese fans is that even with Shin was critically acclaimed and super popular there, they still miss the monster-brawler goji. This is why they kinda soured with how anime trilogy turn out, an half-assed attempt of "Serious Godzilla movie"
