Some of the retarded things from critic reviews I have seen:>Plot was too convoluted>There wasn't any Godzilla>Godzilla is a Reptar ripoff>A reviewer was pissed that it didn't have stranger things referencesI mean there are legitimate criticisisms of the movie but some of these people are just idiotic. The fact that literal children can understand the plot and "professional critics" can't is insane.
>>17531457Rodan here reminds me of Sauron
>>17531458Oh and I forgot>why are the ecoterrorists being irrational

>>17531458>Godzilla vs King Kong>the twins translate the monsters' words like before>but it's just "I am Godzilla! Grrr!" and "Kong hungry! Kong want eat!"
>>17531458They're bound to be a few dumb critics among hundreds of them, it's not really a surprise.
>>17531465At least in the Monsterverse.I like to believe every Titanus Gojira was assigned their own Titanus Mosura at birth to be their lifelong companion, with Godzilla and Mothra being the last ones of their species and also one of the cases where the relationship was more than platonic.
I'm kind of curious if there are any good rips of the various sounds from the kaijus. A ton of stuff was pretty cool like Godzilla's atomic breath charge up sound in KOTM.

ASMR- MAKING HOMEWORK NEAR BOSTON WHILE I CRY FOR THE END OF THE WORLD WHILE I HEAR GODZILLA AND MOTHRA FURIOUSLY FUCKING 20 MILES AWAY
So I was rewatching Shin and looking at all the levels of bureaucracy that a simple "shoot Godzilla" order has to go through (still not sure if accurate or satire) and I wondered, who is in charge of Monarch at the end of King of the Monsters? It was previously Serizawa with Hawkins as his deputy as civilian leadership, with the military arm under Colonel Foster answering to Serizawa. But by the climax of the movie the organization has been decapitated with both Serizawa and Hawkins gone. So who's ultimately in charge and made the decision to open up all the Monarch files to the public in the credits? Rick, Coleman, and the Mothra twins don't seem likely as they're all in specialized departments. Mark was the closest to being the one giving direction after Serizawa was gone, but he doesn't seem to formally hold decision-making authority, he's just the one who knew how to use the ORCA.
>>17531601>FURIOUSLY FUCKINGBullshit, if they do anything lewd it would be gentle lovemaking
>>17531604Is not uncommon to take the director of a specialized department and make them the one in charge of all, so it's possible any of the second in man get chosen to direct. Either that or the USA government absorbed Monarch which would be a scenario nobody wants.
>>17531604Ideally, probably the Tech guy played by the Silicon Valley dude since he's likely CTO or a person higher on the corporate ladder. Or Brooks if we go be seniority.Mark is the obvious choice if they are going to be lazy about it in the sequel which I hope not because he is just as specialized in one field like Mothra twins and suck as politics are the rest of them. They might bring a new character in or the government does a hostile take over and give us MechaGodzilla that goes haywire and nuke Seattle or something.
>>17531458>Plot was too convolutedTerrorists wake up giant monsters, one of them is Godzilla's old sparing partner that wants to kill everything. Fights ensue. This isn't rocket science. >There wasn't any GodzillaWhere were these people during Godzilla 2014? At least KOTM ditches the retarded>We have to treat the giant monster like the shark from Jaws. I'm not even going to touch the others. Critics are dorks.
>>17531458>There wasn't any Godzilla>Godzilla is a Reptar ripoff>A reviewer was pissed that it didn't have stranger things referencesSkimming over the reviews, I didn't see any of these. Where are they anon?

What was your favorite scene? I really like the part where the daughter and mom are pretending to live in a normal house only to fake us out that they're living in a Kaiju base. That scene all the way up to the credits was the best.
>>17531690My favorite scene was when Mothra arrives in front of Mark opening the sky with her god beams. Call me a fag but that along with the revelation that she was “singing” to Godzilla to find him made me cry.
>>17531690Serizawa's final moments with Godzilla
>>17531690Godzilla and Monarch all charging Ghidorah while the Ifikube theme plays.
>>17531690Mix between the final battle and Rodan's chase scene
>>17531690All the Mothra scenes, Serizaw's Sacrifice and most moments making good use of the kaiju colors such as the encounters with Ghidorah in the storms.
>>17531690>I really like the part where the daughter and mom are pretending to live in a normal house only to fake us out that they're living in a Kaiju base. That scene all the way up to the credits was the best.Ok but that's the entire move though
>>17531458Heres the deal. Critics wouldn't like a godzilla film even if it had human drama akin to the grapes of wrath and the monster story was analogous to moby dick. They don't like godzilla movies because of the name godzilla in it. This is why any problem in the film will be magnified to the breaking point because they want to find problems. To them, godzilla will always be a trash dump of a franchise. They could honestly go into a jim jarmusch film and watch him laugh at them and then shit and fart onto a plate for an hour and a half and still come out having a more agreeable opinion about the film then godzilla king of the monsters. Kong: skull island has essentially the same problems as kotm does but kong was more highly praised. Why? Its okay to like a kong movie simply because the first one was such a revolutionary masterpiece.
>>17531690Godzilla showing up for the final fight with Ghidorah was fucking hype as hell, especially with that chanting in the background

>>17531777Lucky trips but honestly it surprises me how anyone can unironically defend any of the Jurassic World movies. Jurassic Park didn't rely on all the “don't think” levels JW had. Hell even the humans were better in JP, not to mention JW just accepts dinos destroying the current ecosystem because “they are alive too!”

>>17531785The JW movies are junk food for me, I've rewatched them a bajillion times by nowThey're absurd enough I just fall for it each time, whether the idea of a giant raptor that's also the Predator, or the 2nd movie's "it's Resident Evil with dinosaurs"

>>17531931Christ, he really is a dumbass.KING OF THE MONSTERS while I haven't fully figured it out yet, it does push trying to have humans having a symbiotic relationship with the titans.
>>17531918RT just hub for reviews, people just dumb and often misunderstood think RT is singular entity. But the mouse actually did shady thing like force theaters to not show the hateful eight otherwise they pull ST out for the theater.
>>17531740He shoots himself in the foot by putting Endgame of all movies on a pedestal, but I don't think he's wrong here in a general sense. I do think critics have been unfair to KotM, but I still don't think KotM is a big creative victory for the series either.
>>17531931It's about humanity not always being able to control nature. Whether it's Monarch or the ecoterrorists, their attempts to control nature - ie, the titans, fail horribly. It's only when we come to accept this (by empowering Godzilla to reclaim his kingdom, restoring an old natural order) that balance returns. It's ironic, because a lot of people seemed to also be complaining that the movie OVER explains things. They're pretty clear about the themes.

>>17532241>that might be another possibility? For a Godzilla game? Nothing, I highly doubt there are any Godzilla related games in the works at all right now. Legendary to buy licenses from Toho for every kaiju they've used so far, and that's only for the movies, there is no way they will spend money to license a whole roster.
>>17532254Yeah I kind of knew it wasn't going to happen anyway, besides arc systems already have that granblue fantasy fighting game so it was kind of a red flag for me.
>>17532266Honestly, the ball is entirely in Toho's hands here. If they keep asking steep prices for their characters, I don't think Monsterverse will survive much longer, even if GvK succeeds. It might just not be worth the investment for Legendary. I honestly think Toho overvalues their brand recognition. if they truly want their characters to be popular worldwide, they need to stop being so stingy and work with their partners. If Monsterverse fails, I don't see anybody else willing to work with them in the west, they are squandering their big chance here.

Just got back from seeing the movie again in 3d. Saw it in Imax the first time and loved it. I feel like some quality was lost in 3d - I didn't notice how deep the colors were like I did in Imax, and the sound wasn't as rich. I saw it the first time and left the theater buzzed, I loved it so much. I went back in this time trying to be a bit more critical but damn it, it's just a fun movie. I still really enjoyed it. The human aspect is weak but I still didn't really find them boring. I'm just going to fucking say it, I still enjoyed the human parts. They're not oscar material but they didn't bore me or annoy me. I didn't hate the characters, I didn't even dislike Dr Rick. I can't help it, I just really loved this movie, and it was worth seeing again. Also I'm absolutely positive that the black people sitting behind me were singing along to Godzilla during the credits but I was too much of a coward to check. If they were, that's fucking adorable and cool.

>>17533131Daily, and every time some different track gets my attention. It has a wide emotional gamut, and it does it all very well. Bear McCreary is one of the best composers in the industry right now.
>>17533151Which is a shame, because I like when he genuinely enjoys things, and it seems that groups work best for being critical. You always tend to temper yourself when you're presenting in front of other people, especially if they're not as into a thing as you are.

>>17533182I hope GvK comes out good, so it can end on a high note, unlike X-Men series.I'm also pretty sure MCU will eventually peter out into dogshit milktoast direct-to-streaming entries.
>>17533184Never even thought of that ship, but the movie made it compelling. Not a fan of sexual innuendos though, pure platonic love is superior.
>>17533192I agree with this. I prefer pure romantic love over sexual love when two different species are involved. It feels more cute
>>17533184I mean, if I got the chance to direct a movie where my ship can be a reality I would do it. Dougherty is living the dream.
>>17533101You’re an idiot.
Just saw “Space Amoeba” for the first time. I enjoyed it. It’s a fun monster romp with some cool monsters. Unfortunately the ending fight was lackluster, mainly because the Kamoebas suit was very stiff, but it was a fun watch. Gezora was my favorite, and his suit probably would’ve alllowed for a more dynamic end fight.
>>17533189Funny enough Godzilla always managed to end on high note or at lest decent end. Terror of MechaGodzilla, Godzilla vs Destoroyah, Final WarsTerror of MechaGodzilla ending got me as a kid even I didn’t know it was the last Showa film. The scene ending with Godzilla walking back into the sea probably is one of the underrated moments in the series.I can the mouse milking MCU until it becomes a mummy
>>17533189MCU’s been milktoast for a long time now, it’s just that people keep consuming it.
So how would I go about watching Varan the Unbelievable? I’m assuming the one on Amazon Prime is the American version, which I don’t care to watch.
>>17533216I honestly think out of the three, Terror was the best ending. It didn’t exactly cap everything off like Destoroyah, but it felt satisfying and felt like it brought together everything Godzilla became. He not only defeated his deadliest enemy (who he only beat with the help of King Caesar and an electric power boost), but defeated him AND a newcomer alone, and in the process again saved the planet, ending the film by once again returning to the sea triumphant.
>>17533125you mean the dun DUN du DUUUUUUUUUUUN?
>>17533214I find the movie kinda boring especially I watched it after the War of the Gargantuas.I agree Gezora is the best which is shame he never got to fight any Kaiju in the movie. Can somebody explain why KOTM is good? Me and my friends hated the writingThe way they treat Rodan as a lackey villain when in the early Showa movies he was basically Godzilla’s sidekick is a joke, and there are tons of scale and logistical issues that weakened the magic for me when the monsters are on screen. also>I read it in a fortune cookieSeriously?I was kind of looking forward to this movie when it was announced, now I’m just glad it’s over
Exclusive first look at “Godzilla vs. Kong.”https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=roYo5EQi7A4I’m digging the direction they’re taking.
>>17533245I definitely wouldn’t call it boring. It held my attention the whole time.
>>17533254>and there are tons of scale and logistical issuesWhat?
>>17533254>The way they treat Rodan as a lackey villain when in the early Showa movies he was basically Godzilla’s sidekick is a jokeHe's Starscream now. It's just fun, m8. he never had a consistent character in the movies, and his introduction sequence is great.>there are tons of scale and logistical issuesLike what? How can you even prove that is the case?>fortune cookieNot sure why this line pisses people off so much. It's just an attempt to defuse the tension by Serizawa. It's obvious that he rarely jokes, so his humor is rusty.
>>17533254>Can somebody explain why KOTM is good? It's a Showa era Godzilla movie made in 2019 complete with cornball dialogue, amazing score, excellent sound design, and top-tier monster fights. It gets an honest to God 9/10 from me.
>>17533254It had a lot of great memorable moments, some of which rank high in Godzilla moments in general.>That entire scene of Godzilla approaching the underwater base>Rodan’s whole introduction>Using The Oxygen Destroyer to reveal Ghidorah’s origins>Goodbye, old friend>Godzilla rising from the water with the music blaring>Mothra’s stinger move>Burning Godzilla>The final shot of the movie, followed by a cover of the BOC song>logistical issuesIt’s a Godzilla movie, dude. The main villain is from space.>The way they treat Rodan as a lackey villainRodan’s role has always been fluid. Just like with every other version, Rodan’s all about himself and moves to whatever side is best for him. This isn’t new. He fought Godzilla in “Ghidorah” and MGII before siding with Godzilla.>I read it in a fortune cookieYou know, I hate the new trend of films replacing dialogue with constantly quips and burbs, and KOTM unfortunately has a few of them, but that fortune cookie joke isn’t it. That was literally Serizawa trying to break the tension and connect with Mark on a human level. If you have mentioned the annoying white haired scientist I would’ve agreed, but you picked a line that actually made sense.
>>17533254>and there are tons of scale and logistical issues that weakened the magic for meIf you didn't like KotM for this then I'm not sure how you watched any other Godzilla film.
>>17533254>The way they treat Rodan as a lackey villainHe tried his best, OK?
So why did Godzilla decide to swing by Castle Bravo, break some of their drones and buzz the control room before heading to Antarctica? Was he alerting them on purpose?
>>17533292B-but anon, how can I watch my movie about a giant fire breathing dinosaur and giant moth fighting a three headed space dragon and a pterodactyl without the LOGISTICS?!
Japs REALLY dig the Behemoth.
>>17533295I think it's more that they built Castle Bravo along his regular patrol route specifically to monitor him.
>>17532075We all knew deep down it was fake, but the promise of an actually good Godzilla game is too extraordinary to not be hopeful for.
>>17533295It was his natural route. They were in the way, and when he sensed Ghidorah, he was in “fuck everything” mode.
>>17531740>Avengers: Endgame and Jurassic World are the pinnacle of Kino>Make Godzilla more like them!Jesus Christ, this fucking piece of filth needs to unironically be gassed.
>>17532089Nah, they're gonna profit off KoTM once merch sales and the DVD/Blu-Ray sales get counted up. Chinamen will also toss mass amounts of shekels at this since it's China. GvK is almost 100% guaranteed to do better regardless, at least in the West, just because it has Kong attached to it, so we'll probably get another movie at least, hopefully more. A break for a few years after GvK would be a good reset, I totally see budget cuts coming at least. Monsterverse has gained too much of a following in the actual fanbase to just die, Toho themselves could always take over.
>>17533254>logistics in fucking godzillaeven Shin suffered from that and did a lot of asspulls and handwave
>>17532957Why isn't this one analpha?how would Godzilla or Ghidorah stand up to a walking mountain range?
>>17533467Judging by his abscense in the bowing scene he is too big for the hollow earth caves and can't swim. Also he is probably too lazy and doesn't care anyway.
>>17533295>>17533319>>17533322I think he warning the humans. He always ignore the humans but acknowledge them existence. When shit gonna hits the fan he know humans can be useful (at least Monarch) to help him fight Ghidorah. Legendary Godzilla is one of the smarter incarnation his intelligent kinda on par with late Showa Godzilla (which made me think Kong intelligent not means much since this Godzilla isn't dumb like KingGoji)>>17533399I see China and Japan shake hands together and make continue Monsterverse since they really like it and China actually can make a blockbuster CG movie with smaller budget than Hollywood (lower than 100 million).

>>17533399>Full House of TruthThe world needs more giant monster movies in it. I think you're right about legendary not wanting to end it. GvK and another by 22 let's go.
>>17533790Sign me right the fuck up, I want more Monsterverse, I love how Legendary has handled it so far and the fact Michael Dougherty is a legitimate Godzilla fan who actually has passion for the character and franchise as a whole gives me hope he'll pull through for us.
If I could bet on any monster to return in a future sequel, I'd make risky one for Zilla.Yeah, that one. Quite far fetched to have that abortion we all would like to forget to stay in the basement for good but there is a potential here. >After the events of KOTM, the American military decided that it's time to exploit the new kaiju craze. If they cant kill the lizard, they'll make their own>The Americans ended up creating a clone of Godzilla, but modified with Mothra's genetic material and various reptilian ones >The plan was to create a Goji that can reproduce asexually and pass down their memories ala Mothra. A self sufficient kaiju army under the control of the military>They ended up making Zillas>When it gets deployed, Monarch will even outright calls it 'an insult to Godzilla's name'>Goji has to kill a bunch of these in a way similar to Final Wars>Zilla mooks being controlled by the army during the early half of the movie ended up being genetic fodder for something bigger like Biollante
>>17533812Except Dougherty isn’t directing GvK.
>>17533903Man, leave Zilla alone. He did nothing wrong other than being poorly named originally. Had the movie been something without Godzilla attached to it, people would fucking adore it and it would be a cult classic. Not saying the movie itself is great or anything but man, leave Zilla alone. I would love for them to give Zilla and actual role in the series beyond just getting his shit kicked in. They actually made him sneaky cool in those comics with his agility and burrowing ability. Don't treat Zilla like some Godzilla knockoff wannabe, treat him like he's an entirely different Kaiju(Because according to Toho, he technically is) and let him have some shine for once. Make Zilla Great In The First Place!
>>17533903You could also add a bit of MUTO DNA in the mix since the MUTO plot in 2014 was basically a rehash of Zilla(with humans destroying it's nest before it has the chance to start the zerg rush).
>>17533918Zilla fucking sucks.
>>17533564I wish there was any fanart of twink male Muto and amazon female Muto
>>17533911He's in the writers room for it at least.
>>17533925Honestly, what is wrong with Zilla? He was based in the animated series and the comics that featured him were solid as well. Not to mention the fact the character is technically not Godzilla at all. What's so bad about having another unique Kaiju? They could totally give Zilla some redemption, they just don't because they're still assmad about it. It would be proper for Legendary to incorporate Zilla and actually give him some dignity. The character at least deserves a chance to be it's own.
>>17533918>people would fucking adore it and it would be a cult classicNo they wouldn't don't even lie. It'd be a 6/10 that at best would be on the bottom of those "Getting into Kaiju?" infographics, right in between Reign of Fire and The Mist. Frankly it's insulting to compare '98 to either of those movies but you get my point.
>>17533927This is the closest there is but I agree
>>17533966No, it doesn't.
>>17534003Wanna give an actual reason or are you gonna be 'that' guy?
>>17534003But anon, it already is it's own character, why not do more with him? More Kaiju is never a bad thing.
>yfw the Mothra egg hatches into twins and one of the twins is Battra.
>>17534017Yeah, I am.>>17534020Because it's shit.

>>17534025>the egg they found in the end of KoTM was actually Battra's>humans initially believe he is docile like Mothra>he genocides everyone in cold blood even after they used the orca device>Mothra's actual egg is found later somewhere else

Zilla as a monster isn't so bad. It's a cool lizard monster - it's like a sleeker Gorosaurus. It was just in a dogshit garbage movie is all.
