Since Megaman is /m/, I'm curious about what /m/ thinks of the various power ups that Megaman got
Aren't the Rush Adaptors arguably superior to Proto Man's base loadout?
>>17359340>Robots>Mechs piloted by robots.>Mid-game upgrades.Insert le people think prime timeline /M/ega /M/an wasn't /m/ shitposting here.In all seriousness I'm surprised they didn't put the adaptors in 11, or included Proto Man or Bass.Or use Rock as Mega Man's civilian name... I guess they were really out of it for 11 weren't they? Well at least this is the age of Japan making a comeback.
>>17359340Pretty /m/etal overall. I just wish if MM12 is a thing we can get to see better transformations for Mega's power-ups. Heck, if MMX9 is a thing, i wish X can get some kind of transformations as well. That one new design he had years back as an Apirl Fool's joke about a figure was perfect as a base for new ideas.
>>17359340The Power and Jet adapters in MM6 were cool as fuck. The Super Adapter sucked though. They really missed the point with that one.
>>17359381why? i think the S adapter needed dual rocketpunches rather than just 1
>>17359379What is this about a April fools joke? Do you know where I can find it?
>>17359340MM6 had my favorite upgrades. It's a shame that the game was a little too easy to really enjoy them.
>>17359641I liked Power and Jet because you got a huge boost to one aspect, power or mobility, but you were shit in other areas. It reminded me of a toku hero switching forms.Super Adapter felt weaker than Power and had a worse boost than Jet so you never felt powerful using it.
I always liked the names of the x5 reploids a good break away from tradition

A Trans is based>megaman threadcool
I still haven't started on 11. Is it good? Literally skipped both 9 and 10 because I couldn't be arsed to get a new console
>>17361739>Is it good?I think the graphics look pretty crap, but it has a solid weapon loadout that seems aimed at rewarding speed-runners and clever play so as far as Mega Man goes that's already past the norm.
>>17359346Mega Man's BASE load out is better than Proto Man's Chernobyl in progress.
>>17361758Some of the weapons are fun, but frankly I found a lot of the stages pretty dull and can't remember a single music track. And honestly Im not a fan of the twin gear system. Also the story is bad. Like real bad. I know it's Mega Man so we're not hear for plot but holy shit was it stupid. Made me want to bust Dr Light's face in with a socket wrench.
Actually I want to talk about that a bit. What exactly IS Light's big goal? He keeps saying he wants humans and robots to live in harmony but what the fuck does that even mean? Robots are tools. They don't have free will till at least X (and the less said about how that turns out the better.) So no matter how we shake it the robot masters are all just basically laborers (as is their name) built to serve humans functions. So what does this mean for harmony? Because I get on pretty well with my toaster. Best case scenario the future becomes Wall-E where humanity is fat and lazy worst case is...well what basically happens. Does light really just want all our assembly lines and house hold machines to have cute anime eyes? How is this harmonious? No matter what robots will only ever be built to function as basically slaves.
>>17361817they probably weren't thinking that much about it when they made Light say that, it sounds nice by itself
>>173617399 and 10 are on PC now in the second Legacy Collection.
>>17361832Well that's really the big issue with Light then isn't it. He just spouts a bunch of saccharine bullshit with no thought at all into what any of it means or how it applies anywhere and we're supposed to take him at that and accept he's just the super nice saintly old man. Im not even talking about him in a "History's greatest monster" meme bullshit kind of way either. But the more he yaps on about peace and harmony and how wrong Wily is because he wanted to use robots as robots is just really frustrating. 11 even went beyond rage inducing with his whole "NOooooooo Wily. think of the strain of the poor wobots. We can't develop your invention no matter how good it is because of the poor disposable labor. " Light destroy's Wily's reputation and career in science because he doesn't want to hurt the poor robots and then acts like it's a shock when Wily doesn't want to be his friend. And we're supposed to be on Light's side?
>>17361845Dr. Light is 100% right, though. It's a slippery slop with intelligent robot labor. At some point, you are exploiting self-aware beings and when is that point exactly? The robots would just continue to become more and more intelligent until the practice evolved into robot-slavery. It makes more sense for a logical and ethical viewpoint to establish robot laws before it gets out of control. Nice try, Wily.
>>17361817>He keeps saying he wants humans and robots to live in harmony but what the fuck does that even mean?ZX shows his dream being realized
>>17362296By having the government force that change which then leads into Legends where androids are left no humans or reploids left.
>>17362296>>17362400Dr. "Light" is a pseudonym for Dr. Licht aka Dr. Lichtenstein. His goal was to replace the human race with robotic abominations.
>>17361845Wait, that doesn't seem like Light's actual stance on why he was strongly opposed to Wily's ideals in 11 - it seemed to be mostly about the fact that Dr Wily just wants to pile as much power into robots without any consideration as to what happens if that power were ever to fall into the wrong hands and Light actually kinda realizes he's a huge asshole going too far in pushing against that - his attempted reconciliation with Wily in the end involves having that power restrained by a strong ethical core to prevent abuse, which you can say foreshadowed the invention of X.
>>17362296Reminder that ZX was followed by the abomination that is ZXA instead of expanding into having the two MCs grow up and get different forms based on the Biometals they combined with. We could have had Z typed forms for one of the two with a slight retconning or something. The perfect marriage of toku and robots was not meant to be in vidya it seems.
>>17362484Zxa was just taking the basic concept of taking your opponents abilities after beating them to its natural limits. Being a better game also helped
>>17362484I wish you hadn't reminded me. Advent is a dumpster fire and a miserable end to Zero and X's story.
>>17362484>>17362504ZXA is great and the story in Megaman sucks
>>17362173The robots where only growing in intelligence BECAUSE of Light and his insane need to want to hug his toaster.>>17362413Any power can be abused in the wrong hands. And his attempted "reconciliation" was basically still shitting on Wily's technology.More to the point every technology starts out with a few kinks but he prevented Wily from ever having the chance to work them out.
>>17363033>The robots where only growing in intelligence BECAUSE of Light and his insane need to want to hug his toaster. You're not thinking very well. There will be an escalation of robot intelligence as they are needed to perform increasingly complex tasks. At some point or another, you will end up with arguably self-aware robots. To protect against that ethical eventuality, Dr. Light did what he did. I already said this in my first post and yet you didn't get the first time around. Here's hoping you get it this time.
>>17359820>>17359795I still think those fan names were fun

>>17359340Aren't there any gritty Megaman designs? Bomberman Act Zero's take on Bomberman was awesome.
>>17359340There was only the one but it was on PSP so nobody bought it.
>>17364977This needs to be more widespread. Shit like this and Bomberman Zero need to be the posterboys of how wrong things can go when /m/ decides to go full edge and westernized on cute mascots and justice robots.>>17365088I did dubsman. It's still a fantastic game and the level editor was fun to lay with.
>>17359820It's weird of "get back to basics" because MM9 and 10 did that.
>>17361817He probably had a vision similar to the master of Mega Man Legends, merging humanity with robots to basically combine the benefits of both
>>17359346All Protoman has over base Mega is a shield.Which isn't even that much of a edge because his faulty core means he takes significantly more damage than Megaman does, meaning all it really does is balance things out.

How would you make the Zero 2 forms look more distinct beyond recolors?
>>17370262>Those designsPure sex
>>17370280It'd make it a mix of how they were handled in Zero 2, Zero3&4 with the crystals and parts and form something new : have Zero gain forms based on the elemental chips he gains or by completing certain tasks to unlock a special skill, like the Erase Form, Active Form, Energy Form, Proto Form, Rise Form and they act mainly as colour and stat changers but they can be stacked on top of armours that do change the appearance of Zero and his abilities, like Ultimate Armor instead of Ultimate Form, X Armor etc. Instead of randomly scouring the world for shit though, I'd have it be like in Zero 2 and have the parts be unlocked via Elves and beating bosses in a certain order or better yet, have the weather be key to finding those parts and beating the boss of the stage will get the parts spiffy and sparkly, while simply finding the parts out of dumb luck and beating the boss without the appropriate weather effect will make the parts unusable unless you cough up e-crystals.For all the shit MegaMan 11 gets, they at least tried to make Mega fresh by having him change a bit when using the powers. Same concept here, few changes to clearly indicate what the power-ups do.
>>17370280Give him different vests and underwear. Some of them could be based on other reploids, like Harpuia's tiny jacket on Rise and Fefnir's bulky shoulders on Defense. X, Proto and Ultimate make him look like X, Proto Man and classic Zero, respectively.
>>17370262>Megaman: Psycho Frame Xeh

I mean SF3 is a legit awesome game but 2 basically killed the series.
>>17359381Eh, I like the Super Adapter, Jet Megaman was a little bit overpowered in terms of overcoming obstacles.Although, I can see why people wouldn't like it.>>17371963The end of the X/Vile fight in the first Rockman manga is still one of my favorite manga panels ever.

>>17375069Lupin's megaman disguise is working pretty good
>>17366056That's clearly Great Mazinmegaman.
>>17373519What is is for, ants?
>>17380179Sorry for the late reply but basically what's wrong with doesn't hinge so much on the idea of an FPS Megaman but rather the time period, the people behind it and the consoles it would be made for. Consider this : Megaman is about platforming and pewpewing in a straight line with a multitude of weapons unleashing carnage everywhere and moving constantly. You know what other game did that? Doom on the PC. The Gritty X reboot is made by Retro Studios right after their super slow Metroid Prime series that masked their shit combat, shit platforming and utter lack of speed, a staple of Metroid, with environmental storytelling porn and overt exploration and even when they could reach 60 FPS on Gamecube, they couldn't reach DOOM speeds. The game would have been for the PS360, where Halo in 30 FPS would be the go to FPS prototype if we're lucky and don't go with Cawadooty for the PS360 which was infintely worse. Then, it has Keiji Inafune behind it during a time where his westaboo boner was in full effect and fucked everything up for Capcom. Finally, it would be a console FPS and all of them suck balls. If it was a PC exclusive game, I could see it working but nope. And keep in mind, the game engines used to make console FPS games were derivatives of Unreal at worst or some new voodoo engine that somehow didn't brick your consoles through orphan sacrifices to the blood moon Gods and even then, the games had crashes and glitches. But that's not even the kicker : the game would probably be all you see in that cancelled footage, no variation and the weapons would be at best different coloured lasers or worst, copy pasted guns from other FPS.

>>17392082It's exactly as you say, the reason Omega neevr had Zero's lightboobs is because the artstyle drastically changed between the X and Zero series. It's why even X seems kind of different wheneevr we actually see him, having neon lines and other new stuff.

Was it ever explained why Mavericks can't be brought back? Vile came back multiple times and every Maverick comes back once in their game so why can't dead Mavericks be brought back and made good? Iris flipped out over her brother dying but couldn't they just build him a new body and put his core or whatever in it?
>>17364925That looks really bad, it's just a guy in bondage gear. deep dark fantasy
>>17399131and of course the one image I grab off google turned out to not be cropped
>>17399116Nope. Not that I could remember of.I guess there's no cloud-ish technology (a network where memories, info, etc could be publicly accessed) until X8 rolled around. Besides, why would Iris want that? Assuming that wrecking the body of a Reploid is equivalent into suddenly dropping an old hard disk (slim chance of getting the data in its entirety), his core/brain would be damaged. But, in the event that there has been a copy/backup of the colonel's memory/brain stored somewhere, it would still be missing the recent memories in between that time the copy/backup was made up to the point that this copy/backup is finally restored. In both cases, Iris has to live on with the memories that her brother has been slain while her restored brother may not sympathize with the plight she's in so, in a sense, their relationship post-restoration wouldn't be the same anymore
>>17398552I'm selling one CIB if you're interested.
>>17399179Character's like Vile come back with their memories intact.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJXJStIzTxEWe can all agree that Code Crush is the best vocal song in the X series, right?
>>17399116>Vile came back multiple times and every Maverick comes back once in their game so why can't dead Mavericks be brought back and made good? The problem is more that their core essences were corrupted by things such as the Maverick/Sigma/Zero Virus and Nightmare Phenomenon. They could be resurrected but they would end up coming back as evil bastards.>Iris flipped out over her brother dying but couldn't they just build him a new body and put his core or whatever in it?Iris and Colonel were separated aspects of an "Ultimate Reploid" with mental stability issues. They were one reploid split into two parts and when Colonel died pretty much everything went back into Iris causing her to go crazy.

>>17452976Probably going with the X1 Sigma design first if they get to him.
>>17453277Third armor is far from a favorite, but I guess it's nice to get any of X's armors at all. Despite the dislike they get, I think X5, 6, and 8 have way better armor designs than the early games.
>>17453359>>17453277The manga made me love this armor
>>17453359People dislike X8's armor design? I think it's pretty great, it works well with the slimmed down style that X8 was going for.
Udon's publishing a big Megaman BN artbook soon. Not to shill, but I want it bad.
>>17440435Everyone I know loves the game, at least on the super famicom. The changes made for the gameboy advance just made more blind jumps, but the game was still very easy even with megaman.
>>17381710I don't know. Megaman 9 and 10 were really week on level design, I distinctively remember being plagues enemies that jumped from pits, and it's not that that's bad, but they were in every level. Also I know that it's a meme by now, but 2 is really really good.
>>17381747jpegs you can hear.
>>17383646If it was made by Retro it wouldn't be made for ps360, more likely adapted for motion controls, and it does look way faster than other fps at the time. If it were good I would have been remembered as a weird hidden gem or something like that. But yeah it's good in the fan art way, if were official in any way, it would have been a DmC scenario. Still another FPS by Retro would be killer, maybe whey wouldn't be stuck making Donkey Kong games.
>>17405450AVGN made me wanna play 2.
How good is the Koto Protoman?
>>17428031>Contest to design an armor for Zero for the next round of Giga Mission cardsFUCK YEAH!>Entries limited to residents of Japan onlyAw, fuck... Of course.
>>17405450Mega Man X came bundled in one chinese 5-in-1 cartridge I bought for the SNES.I didn't even bother playing the other 4 games, X was just that good for my 5 year old self.
>>17411508> the least /m/ part of the franchiseNot really. It's just less Mecha and more TokuAnd then Star Force is literally Tokusatsu.
>>17466042Polar Kamrous wasn't invited to the group photo?
>>17434373I still can't believe that Vile MKII was a much more nuanced character in the game than in that manga, although maybe its just the english release of X3.
>>17467113>BN and SF are tokuI have no idea how I didn't see this. It definitely makes sense.
>>17434363I remember a journalist bitching about how weak you are on this game on a gaming magazine back in the day.Shame I never got to play it.
>>17472942>Journalist bitching about game difficulty even back them.Sounds about right.
