Turn A Gundam premiered in April 9th, 1999. What should we expect for the 20th anniversary of Turn A Gundam in terms of Gunpla? Whatever it is, don't expect it to be announced any sooner than Fall 2019.

Should I stream myself building Gunpla on twitch? I have a GodHand nipper, expensive tweezers and hobby knife.
>>17311652You could, I remember someone doing it on Stream.me with a decent audience. Just don't expect more than 20 people at very best.
>>17311652Do you have interesting anecdotes to pass the time with?
How many Perfect Grade kits do you have in your collection(s)?
>>173115533.0 i guess? Maybe 3.0 with slightly less detail, which I would be fine with
>>17311679None. I'm going to buy a PG Exia but I'm in the burnout phase right now. I take a break for 2-3 months, build and paint two kits, repeat.
>>17311657>>17311677I have nothing to talk about.>>17311679Gundam, Char's Zaku, Zeta, Titans Mk.II, Wing Zero Custom, Red Frame, Strike, GP-01/Fb, OO Raiser, Exia, Strike Freedom (unbuilt), Unicorn, Banshee, Daban Phenex (I'm currently at talks with someone on ebay about the PG Phenex), I almost picked up a Blue Frame and "Green Frame" 7-eleven but it got sold by the time I got to the store, kek. Dodged an 800AUD bullet there!
>>17311727What is your favorite Perfect Grade?Currently, I only have the A.E.U.G. color MK-II.Do you feel like you up to the daunting task of building a Mechanicore kit?
>>17311679I'll get PG Blue Frame eventually. Sometime.
>>17311740I'd probably say either the Strike or Unicorns. Exia was fun to build though. Can't really pick one from those. With Mechanicore kits, I'd have to be on the mood to build one, really. But they're too clusterfucky for my taste, so don't know if I'd even want one.I've dealt with resin kits of dubious moulding and quality, so the actual "process" might not be too annoying, but all that pinning... sheesh!
>>17311679Three (Four counting the aile strike unit)
>>17311766How is the zeta?
>>17311795It's fine, considering it's an old kit, the articulation is kinda limited, some people complain about the screws, but those really helps to mantain the frame sturdy
>>17311758>but all that pinning... sheesh!I never built a Mechanicore Kit myself. But I have been interested in getting one ever since I first heard of them. But then again, pic related.
>>17311823I have a soft spot for the old Perfect Grade Mobile Suits, mostly due to the sculpted detail of the inner frame. Personally, I would like to see that level of inner frame detail return, just with modern Gunpla articulation and gimmicks, along with parts separation on par with the upcoming RG Crossbone in order to exemplify the inner frame detailing.

>>17311506>SNAPFAGS ruining expensive kitsIt's getting to be pretty funny how triggered you all are by this.
>>17311942Sucks, doesn't it? My backlog got too big that I've resorted to snapfagging the majority of it so I can cut down on the boxes. Probably gone through half of my backlog in the last year and half. I've grown efficient with nub sanding and buffing that I could go through a couple fairly simple HGs in a day.I do take my time on kits that I really like though, I've been building up the Sazabi Ver,Ka for the last month, still snapped, but I've applied decals, some minor detailing and top coat.

I have hard time deciding - MG F91 (2.0) or MG Justice?Both looks really cool but I simply cant decide. Also, I have RG Build Strike and keep wondering if F91 doesn't look a bit the same...Sorry for such silly question ;_;
>>17312763no it's really brilliant, you see it captures heat around your body so you sweat but your legs still are cold and get ripped the fuck up if you future unicycle topples over
>>17311487I once talked to guy in modelling shop about nippers and he told me to bring in mine Chinese ones for 35 pln (around 9$) to test against their most expensive ones they had, some Tamiya costing 150 pln (as much as RG kit here) and to bring some runners. We tested those and after sanding effect was the same while without it, mine Chinese ones were cutting better. It's not about how much you pay, anon. I already found out that plain, old metal file and sandpaper is all I need. Sure, it will require more work than if I would hit my head and import Godhands for the cost of two or three MG kits and sometimes I need to use hobby knife instead. But don't claim that everyone need to use most expensive stuff.
>>17312892Yeah it still looks pretty dumb, though, and unless it's made of light and resistant material look like it would be a pain in the ass to stand up if you fall
>>17312893>Godhands for the cost of two or three MG kitsthey're $50 on amazon
>>17312893>mine Chinese ones were cutting bettereverything is made in china nowadays. chances are those tamiya ones are chinese made too which means you were comparing chinese brand cutters to more expensive but less effective branded chinese cutters.
Are you guys planning on getting RG Crossbone? I'm probably gonna pick it up if the initial Jap Reviews seem good. I'm also considering waiting for whatever p-bandai or retail re-molds they plan on making.
>>17312961He's polish. MG kits might be cheaper in poland.
>>17312967I'll get it if they make an X2, but I'll probably be P-Bandai so I'm fucked.
>>17312967Absolutely, as there is currently no good crossbone kit.
>>17311386I've built some models recently and found it very enjoyable, however i know jack shit about Gundam. Where do I get started with the franchise, realistically? What shows are must-sees?Any advice is appreciated.
>>17312967Keep in mind this kit will be tiny. The X1 is one of the smallest among the mainline gundams.
>>17312967No, I don't really like Katoki's version of it.
>>17313025Start with the originalIf you like it, watch the sequels (Zeta, then ZZ, then Char's Counterattack)If not, try an AU
>>17313025I would start with 00. It's good but AU so you don't really need to know anything. After that, give 0079 a shot.
>>17313002I thought the HG and SDCS were good?
>>17313109SD might be, i forget sd exists
>>17313088>>17313095Thank you anons!
>>17312735Who caresHis Turn A designs were trash, so much so that even after heavy revision they still look like unusable garbage
>>17313109The HG is okay if you want a bare-bones katoki version. Some of the more memorable shit like the ABC mantle, scissor anchors and screw whips are only available with the P-Bandai versions. Also that mantle looks like shit.
>>17312958Cant get both. 2kg limit, its either one or another.>>17312961Amazon is expensive option for me, any kind.>>17312973Exactly opposite. All models cost at least twice as much as in US.HGs cost 80-120 PLN, RG 150-250, MG 250-400, PG 800-1000. Only PG cost the same if shipped from Japan, including shipping cost and taxes, MGs are biggest offense here with cost at least twice as much when imported. For comparison, 1 USD is worth around 3.8 PLN.For example, MG Freedom 2.0 in Poland cost 300 PLN. At Banzai it cost aprox 120 plus shipping cost of around 50 in this case, up to 80-90 at around 2kg limit but who would order single kit in package and not try to split the cost?At the other hand, HG Astaroth cist around 100 PLN locally and 40 at Banzai but shipping costs make it less favorable.
>>17312302Also remember to scroll to the bottom of link belowhttp://dalong.net/review/hg.htm
>>17313084>prefers Manga VersionObvious RE/100 is obvious (fucking katokifags).
>>17313164RE/100 would be nice but I'm fine with the beefy Robot Damashii version. You can't really make a truly accurate Manga version anyway, since Hasegawa can't draw a straight line.
>>17313177What exactly makes Justice better than F91? I mean, they both look super cool on photos.
>>17313195justice more a e s t h e t i ci have both so take it as you will
>>17312281You should have just bought the regular version and painted it yourself. The quality of the part casts are horrendous. Tons of flash, millions of surface imperfections from bubbles / lack of filling / 3D printing lines / bad mold / rough handling before packing, seam lines that don't line up properly. It's going to take a massive shit ton of work for me to even get mine ready for the painting process, I had to shelf it for now. Some of the nubs are in visible spots so you're going to need to do touch up painting. It's a very Chinese kit.>>17312759Be kind of glad you didn't get it if you got a refund. I don't think it's worth the price.
Is it better to spray down parts individually or in groups? I find that individually takes a really long time, especially on MGs but spraying them in groups leads to a lot of spots where I need to respray certain parts
Guess the next Lead Gundam to get a Perfect Grade kit that has yet to receive one (RX-78-2 is too obvious of a choice for PG Ver.2.0/Revive)
>>17313211PG claw machine with bonus 1/60 Not-Terrible Gundam
>>17313230Imagine that with RG Crossbone Gundam levels of parts separation.
>>17313246Why would a PG use inferior RG parts separation?
>>17313246It's a PG, not a Mega Size, silly!
>>17313211ZZ GundamNu GundamBarbie
>>17313246this is the part separation of the first PG
>>17313259>>17313263>>17313266Admittedly, I should have explained this better. The statement lost in translation I meant to say was not that I wanted the tiny parts ballooned up to 1/60 scale, but rather a 1/60 scale kit with parts as small as those found on the RG Crossbone Gundam. To anyone who wants more detail on a PG, and you want to give examples, make sure you avoid repeating my mistake in being too vague.
>>17313211how could it be anything but barbatos? its so insanely popular
>>17313286If the pattern implied pic related is accurate, then Barbatos would likely be the next entry in the GEP after the Crossbone. Evolution Point: Inner Frame
>still not MG Gaiai just want doggo gundam ffs bandai
>>17313315I suspect one of the reasons it won't be Barbatos is because of the inner frame. The spine is literally just a double hinge with 2 pistons. I'll be happy if Bandai proves me wrong though.
Is the MG Turn A Gundam a 1/200 scale kit, or are the cow and pilot miniatures 1/50 scale?
>>17313315>inner frameNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOInner frame is the worst part about gunpla. It jacks up the price on MGs, I would take a secure shitty looking innerframe with good joints over a good inner frame anyday.
>>17313370It is a very big cow at 1/100 scale
>>17313370It's awkward because the stated specs for it don't match up with the animation. The Turn A itself is 1/100th scale for the stated dimensions. The stand-alone Loran (and the cow) are 1/100th scale for their dimensions. But because the Turn A's 20.0m height is mostly arbitrary, when it is actually done at 20cm tall the cockpit is too small for a properly scaled person and the missile pods are too small for a properly scaled cow.
>>17313374It really is, I'd rather have RE100's than MG's. Who gives a fuck about a plastic grenade that shatters when they fall and you can't even see the shit.
>>17313393Despite pic related, the Turn A is obviously the hight of a Psycho Gundam. Turn A suits are in desperate need of a retcon in terms of official specs.
>>17313395Whoa whoa, back that shit up. Re/100s are worse than MGs in more ways than just inner frame. I don't want to lose any of the good qualities of MGs, I just don't want innerframes to be a focus/price increaser unless its something like the unicorn/nu.
>>17313395>I'd rather have RE100's than MG'sHoly shit are you okay? Did fumes give you brain damage?

>>17313411Yeah I would, fuck frames. Spend more time on exterior detailing than unnecessary inner frames. If it helps lower the prices that's good too.
>>17313276So you want a 3000 pieces PG? How much would it cost?
>>17313407I'm never buying another RE/100 again after the last two could barely hold their arms up and their legs dangled down on a stand no matter what I tried to do. They're literally just plastic ragdolls.
>>17313423>Spend more time on exterior detailingGay, the MG2.0s are the best looking Gundam kits Bandai ever put out
>>17313423you brainlet innerframes are for more than just unnecessary details. they help to stabilize the kit when they're that big. look at their recent fucking mess of a jagd doga that just flops over from a breeze and can't even hold its own gun even if you tighten the joints. even an action base can't help that kit.
>>17313423Enjoy your shit joints.

>>1731409600 kits get reprinted often enough, less-popular and older stuff (like 80s kits and G Gundam ones for example) can take 3+ years to see re-print. I am not sure when the last time AGE had re-print due to lack of popularity, but stuff does come back. Hell even VVV, Xabungle, Dunbine, and The Fool kits have gotten more copies in circulation.
>>17314100I came across this kit years ago.I think it's just a custom resin kit someone made with no connection to pre-existing lore.It looks a lot like a mix of the GP03 and something else

>>17314171There isn't even a kit of the FAG Mk II, you're on the pipe if you think FAG Mk III is ever going to happen.
>>17314171>Gundam Mk IIIWhat a disappointing design. Gundam MK II takes the RX-78-2 and turns the toy design into a proper mobile suit/giant robot. Then the Mk III is just a purple monstrosity. Zeta ripoff?

Other than the side-skirt armor being pretty bland looking (Although it allows for a clean 180 split with the legs) it's a solid kit with probably the best poseability you'll find on a GM since it uses the Build Burning/Leopard Da Vinci's articulation as a base.>>17314404I remember people flocking over an issue from a few years back of the same mag that had an article on how to build a "gundam" and they used a Hyakuren for the article. Second day and I still cant decide between F91 and Justice ;_;At the other hand, I keep GM Sniper option in reserve if I would order two RG kids in the future, Sniper is surprisingly light...
How many Mechanicore kits do you have in your collection?

So if i want to buy bulk acrylic (tamiya) paint thinner to clean my airbrush etc, it should be isopropyl alcohol right?
>>17316522Tamiya acrylic is actually acrylic particles suspended in a lacquer solution, so bulk generic lacquer thinner from a hardware store works just as well.

How does theMECHANICORE Perfect Zeong compare to Bandai's Master Grade counterpart?>MECHANICORE Versionhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZDMFlri5ac>Bandai Versionhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxTDk-afFFg
>>17316864That mechanicore thing is preposterous.
New to GunPla, just finished my first HG model. I bought a stand for it today, however the instructions are indicating that there should be a screw. No screws came in the bag. Are you expected to supply your own screws?
>>17317234shoulda got the action base 5, it uses a much better screwless designlook for that next time
>>17317243Fair enough. To be honest, I bought this one because it was a clear green, which goes well with the Phenex that I was building to put on it.
>>17317234What stand exactly?
>>17317260Looks like an Action Base 1. I'll be honest, I didn't know there were multiple styles of Action Base.
>>17317284That's supposed to come with a screw.
>>17317284Double check your packaging. I have the grey action base 1 and it came with a screw.
>>17317301>>17317302Yep, it did, found it. Little yellow bag slipped out and fell under the table.
>>17316864How does it compare in what way? Ones a $80 kit, the other is a $380 kit (at least it was - good lucking finding it at that price now, it averages ~$500 before adding a hundred or more in shipping). The former assembles neatly and is a solid and stable kit. The later has more parts, significantly more details everywhere (subjectively worse detail), metal parts, LEDs and all the electronics for it and is - like all the Mechanicore kits - a fiddly piece of shit to assemble that rivals Wave 1/00 FSS kits in being a bitch to assembly with the amount of misfitting parts, parts that need to be glued and flash.
Now this is an MG RX-78-2 I can get behind.
>>17316554That'd be nice, would consider buying it when they do now that lately I've been having abit of an SD obsession.
>>17317319>Wave 1/00 FSSHave you ever built any of Voks' IMS kits? I haven't, but they seem to be an improvement over the old Wave kits from what I looked up.
>>17316864Mechanicores look like they are amazing center pieces if you have the patience and skill to fix the parts fitting issues, some loose joints, and can paint well.I've only seen reviews of the people who tried to snap built them vocally complain about the quality though. Other finished painted reviews weren't so pissy about it and didn't slam it hard, probably because they knew what they were getting into and how to handle it.
good enough, i was suppose to paint the thrusters on the butt flap and the tip of the PP gold but i am too lazy to mask all that, so thats that. il put it in the photobooth another day.
>>17317618lewd shot, the feet and all the fuel tanks were puttied.
>>17317611this looks much better than the actual MS
Anyone purchased any LEDs from gundamled before? They're pretty pricey but I'm really sick of bandai's shitty LEDs so I'm wondering if they're worth it.
>>17311923Can confirm, built mine 16 years ago.
>>17312373They look dapper if you run LED lights in them.
>cementing pieces together>apply pressure to get piece to snap>some glue shoots out and lands directly into my eyeWell, it was nice knowing you guys.
>>17317800I came dangerously close to having this happen to me with super glue. Came close enough for the fumes to burn.
>>17317800the eye is stronger than you think.had an egg blow up and get into my eye and had a nub lodge itself into my eye and i still have perfect vision
>>17317800>Cementing pieces together>Perfectly hide the separation line>It's an old 90s mold however>So it split piece in half when it comes the part where I snap pieces together I am so glad Bandai doesn't make molds with misshaped pieces, fuck those 80s kit especially. Reminds me of an Alclad Gold paint tutorial with a Gold Sumo where the lady was showing the technique and her gunpla's shoulder was split.
>>17317800This is why I always wear the glass I need for my poor eyesight
How many haros is too much? Also what's the current holy grail of haros?
What do you think of metal parts, specifically thrusters? Are they too distracting or are they necessary?
>>17318101they're a bitch to remove the nubs from
>>17318101I like them when done right and blend well with the kit (and looks like they do in your picture), and honestly it's fun to do them. I don't think they should be done every time like some people who over-do the details on some gunplas that said.
What's the best psi to be using for high gloss paint jobs? I heard here and there about using a lower psi like 12, and typically I'm used to leaving my compressor on 20. I use a dual action so it's typically no problem to adjust the air flow, but I'm unsure. I did a Mr Color Gloss orange test coat with all the layers before it on 20 and it came out super smooth, but I'm currently waiting on a GX clear orange coat on it to see how a spray at roughly 12 psi went.I've been painting for years, but always at the same pressure and I've been looking to improve and change things up.
>>17317446I've look at them a few times but haven't picked any up. The price tag combined with the limitations of the kits articulation preventing a good dynamic pose (both by the nature of the designs and the fact that they're meant to be fixed in place) turned me away. To be fair though, it's hard not to be an improvement over the 1/100 Wave plastic kits - misfitting parts, shallow details, large gaps to fill all over. There was an unfinished video series on Youtube of a Japanese builder doing one that was posted years ago and it looked both immensely frustrating with how shit they but also strangely enticing.
>>1731812420 is pretty fucking high for a gloss build.
>>17318124Is the art teacher person again? I thought people already gave you a bunch of tips for gloss paint? How'd you manage to paint for years without figuring out how to improve on your own or noticing things that you could fix in the next build?
>>17317611very nice, how did you go about topcoating it, airbrush?
So I'm building the MG Tallgeese and noticed a slot on the back that is covered by a circle part. I don't have the Universe Booster on me so could anyone verify if the Strike adaptors from that kit work on the Tallgeese?

>>17318633No. It's only compatible with the MG Wing & Deathscythe backpacks.
>>17318753Just got work now so my Tallgeese is on hold but here is the slot on the back.
