Gruntfags paradise

The colours are archetypal schemes.

The first 3 bright colours don't seem to be for grunts and that latter 3 are more militaristic.

I will say white for hero, yellow for trainer, red for rival, navy for elite, gray for normal, green for alternative normal.

I see Ebikawa reusing some colour palettes.

With his Gundam AGE grunts and IBO Graze having a billion colours, I could see that there are grunt fans out there who just want something basic to play with colour variants.

Hero mechs like Gundam don't offer army building and colour variation enjoyment.
>>
At 1000 yen after retail discount, these are 1/8 of the price of one Wanzer from Play Arts.

Gundam 00, Gundam AGE, IBO and Full Metal Panic did popularise the multi colour schemes of grunts in mainstream media. Before it was only present in video games.
>>
>>17243562
>>17243572
These colour choices do not correspond to terrain colours like Front Mission or Full Metal Panic, they are more like affiliation/faction colours. I hope that they keep the colours consistent in future releases rather than introducing another lot of colours. Perhaps they might get some more militaristic designs in urban, sand and olive later on.

I will really have to wait 6 months after release to see which direction they are heading.

At the moment, I might organise them as:

Faction 1:
White = ace/elite
Navy(like AGE) = regular army

Faction 2:
Red = ace/elite
Green = regular army

Other:
Yellow= civilian or private corp security
Dark gray (like AGE pirates) = pirates, terrorists, PMC.

I will go for one of each of the release and then buy doubles for the green and navy ones.

So this is clearly taking the Leo's simplicity and applying it into its own line without the lore and character restrictions from Gundam.

So no stickers, only two plates.

Is this revolutionary? Well, it is very similar to Frame Arms as they also used minimal number of colours. But Frame Arms did have a lore written in the booklets assigning factions and manfacturers.
>>
>>17238816
Bandai is trying to eat into that too with their Gashapon figures.

So yes, Bandai is trying to get into media-less IPs to compete with Koto.

How does it rival frame arms in concept? Inner frames for models were literally invented by Bandai. And these are meant to be more like those "put it together" toys in that it only takes 30 minutes to build it, rather than a full kit.
>>
>>17245564
Inner frames are never new. But Frame Arms took the concept to a logical extreme. The Architect frame is a bare body with multiple 3mm holes that can equip many other parts and weaponry's as long as it's 3mm. All the Frame Arms kits use the architect frame as its inner frame, some may have the armor built on normally and others give a unique twist such as the Katsuguchi applying armor to the frame upside down. Bandai's new kits are very similar to that. A bare frame with plentiful of 3mm post around its body to equip various parts >>17244219
>>17244225

The only difference is the 2 frame Bandai provide has character unlike Kotobukiya one and only blank slate architect frame and there's less holes to fill on Bandai versus Kotobukiya.

Clearly these are full kits and not toys that are easily built in 30 minutes >>17237302
Look at all those runners, a 'put it together' toy wouldn't have those runners nor would it be done in 30 minutes too long for something so simple.
>>
>>17245717
In Frame Arms universe, probably one firm innovated the frame and everyone else adopted it.

I am not even sure if 30 minute missions will even have a written lore. It looks like Gundam Battle Operation in generic model kit form.

I do look forward to it, but I don't think it would last more than 2 years. Maybe no more than 6-8 bot designs.

It's 1296 yen incl tax, with a list price of 1200 yen. Literally more for just the frame while these Bandai kits are complete mechs, the frames are probably 1/3 the product in weight. They're after completely different demographics. This is likely part of the same Bandai Spirits project as the new low-cost export intended RDs. The company is looking into lower cost toys that are more palatable to young, foreign demographics.

If you want to be more pendantic for us outsiders who imports websites usually cut down the price to around 1000yen and under. This goes for Bandai's new kits as well so I'm expecting to pay around 1000yen for those not 1250yen. Don't forget you said ghe new line aims for "young, foreign demographics" so it counts. But that's besides the point, I do not see how the demographics are what splits the 2 lines apart. Either of the two aren't more complicated than the other. You still got to nipper out the parts and build, they're fundamentally model kits. If we're taking the architect frame into account building time might take the same time without cleaning the nubs whatsoever.

I'm not saying Bandai made the 30 minute mission line to directly compete with Frame arms but in concept both are very similar. A bare mech/frame with 3mm holes to equip weapons and armors. The architect can still be considered a mech on it's own so there's further similarities between the 2. You should see what people do with just the frame alone.
>>
>>17245564
That's bullshit. Nothing can be built in a given time. You may build a HG in 30mins, it takes me 1 day just to do the same. It varies from person to person. 30 min my ass.
>>
>>17248721
If you take 1 whole day to build a HG you may be mentally or physically challenged.
>>
>>17248727
Oh I'm sorry. I didn't know that everyone builds High grade in 30mins. I guess it really is my deficiency for taking my time snapping and cleaning the nubs afterwards as I build as well as taking some breaks from the repetitiveness of the limbs. Blow me faggot.
>>
>>17248690
Sadly, Kotobukiya inner frames have changed to be made of PS rather than ABS.

so no more ABS for both Bandai and Koto. ABS is reserved for some inner frames of RGs.
>>
>>17248183
They really do look like remastered IBO designs. Not close enough to be complete repackages, but very similar.
>>
>>17248890
ABS is difficult to paint and difficult to glue. PS is reactive to everything and does so, typically, in a more predictable/safer manner. ABS reacts to fewer solvents and some can make it crumble like clay, it's a good change for builders. Properties wise certain mixes of HIPS are mechanically similar to ABS so there's not much lost.

Reused colour scheme from the one from the Gundam AGE game.

Looking at the CG render rather than the painted sample on display, I am suspecting that the production version of the yellow and green version will be a softer sand and olive rather than the brightly painted one.

All the painted samples won't reflect the moulded colour of the plastic.

If that is the case, then a default desert, urban and olive colours could be achieved without painting. At the same time, I do hope that later releases will have new colour schemes.

Kind of did it with Nemo, but still not enough.

With Katoki involved stuff, it is just basically default + Torrington colours just to inherit the legacy of the GM Kai having two colours in 0083.

It is just basically terrestrial and space, but no distinction within Earth. But to be honest, GM Command was the first to introduce it even though they had different backpacks.

Gray = Cold Climate
Beige= Colony, terrestrial
Red = Space
Navy = Special Ops GM Sniper II

So the GM Command was the first MS to have region specific colour schemes.

It is. Normal cement on PS works quicker and better. And you can find normal cement everywhere

>Koto patented customizable mecha frames
That shouldn't be allowed

Vaguely votomsesque.

I like it.

I was gonna mention this a few days ago but didn't get around to it, thanks for mentioning it.

The patent system does really seem shitty and exploitable in some areas. It's why we see some ideas just fade from existence because one company patented it and, in most cases, mishandled it until it lost relevancy when it could have been cultivated further if competition was allowed. See the Namco loading screen patent.

The patent system is reasonable, but sometimes it can be used to effectively create a monopoly without thinking about the effect it'd have on the concept itself.

Man I am not really liking these heads.
>>
>>17256209
Full Metal Panic is better. As much as I like the colour choices, their shapes may not fit the colour schemes, especially the round headed one.the Genoace one is okay but it fits a Gundam setting more than a modern warfare one.

If they offer a pair of more modern day compatible military designs, I may bite.

I will say if they had offered the Ground Type GM/Gundam in 3 military colours + a militarised Zaku II and Dom in 3 colours, I would be interested.

Redpill me on Frame Arms.
Are they good?
>>
It'd work a lot better if Bandai just straight up do them as prepainted PVC/ABS toys that you can combine any way you want, like Mugenbine, instead of model kits.

It's the major issue I have with Frame Arms and Hexa Gear: them being model kits that you can take apart and reconfigure just doesn't sit right with me and a figure where half of it is made from not exactly durable polystyrene isn't really something I want to play with or combine and disconnect over and over again, especially when you also painted the whole thing.

So are these going to be really cheap around 800 yen?
>>
>>17260120
I will say 1000 yen after 20% discount.

The armor packs retail at 300 yen and the weapon pack is 500 yen.

I am eager to wait and see what future colours they will be offerring for the revealed moulds and see if there will be any consistency with future body designs.

Too many colours, too many choices and permutations. It feels like Diaclone but much, much more affordable.

Judging from point no.2, all future releases will still be able to exchange parts implying that the same frame will be used. Though, I still think we will get short limbed guys like the ones from Frame Arms.

The armor sets are gorgeous.

I think if I were to go the simplistic route, I will just get all white for Alto and all Green for Portonova and then buy 3 of each for each colour of the armors. So the armor will denote the squad.
>>
>>17260204
I think they really need some digibashing app to visualise the colour combinations before people pull the trigger.
>>
>>17260204
>that shit big block of tacky parts without colors separation
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>>
Their colour palette seems pretty broad but we don't know if each product mould will have all colours variations.

White
Yellow
Sand Yellow
Blue
Light Blue
Green
Dark Green
Red
Dark Red
Orange
Dark Gray
Light Gray

So 12 colours among 14 releases so far, with 6 unique moulds (2 Bots, 4 Armors). 12*6 will already bring it to 72 combination of colour releases across the 6 moulds.

This really is infinite if we are mixing bot base armor parts too, like Mugenbine, Lego and Diaclone. It maybe a first in Plamo. There is no exhaustive approach. Pick your own rule and stick with it.
>>
With the releases revealed so far, there will be 3*4 colour combinations for each bot mould and their corresponding armor sets.

I think they want different set of colours for each bot is to distinguish their factions. If they were to introduce another pair of new bots, I think the colours will be mixed again.
>>
I am not sure if the base bot will include a basic weapon or not, but 500 yen for two modular weapons is quite expensive, just like the system weapons.

The second armor for the Alt has been corrected to be a sniper armor.

So there is a melee armor for both types, sniper for Alto, and Special Ops for Portanova.
>>
>>17260409
If the bot kits come with the base form of the gun and knife, then the option pack providing an extra pair for base weapons and two options for both weapons would be okay.

Otherwise, forcing people to buy one 500 yen pack per bot is just criminal.

Basically 1280 bot + 300 armor + 500 weapons is almost 2000 yen.
>>
why would people buy this when a cheaper one and cooler one exist
>>
>>17260409
GM/GM weapons were 600 yen with one spray gun and two core sniper guns. So three guns in addition to the single gun from the GM/GM.

The 30 minute mission bots may only come with one machine gun so the melee weapon may be exclusive to the option weapons.
>>
>>17260426
IBO bots are great, multi faction as well. The IBO spin off better give us more of the Rodi and Hexa frames.
