Now that the dust has settled, what went right?
Some cuties Moderately acceptable CG
>>17226204Almost everything, its only major problem was it needed a couple more episodes, best /m/ finale of the decade imo.
>>17226210>best /m/ finale of the decadeyou haven't seen much from this decade than
Give me a reason why Utsumi isn't /ourguy/
>>17226204Everything except the fact it was too short for its own good. We needed about 4 more episodes to properly conclude the series, otherwise, loved it.
>>17226259>oneHeroman, Sacred Seven, Lagrange, Astral Ocean, Gundam Age, Build Fighters and Try, Freezing Vibration (it has kaiju and cyborgs), Majestic Prince, Gargantia, Samurai Flamenco, Buddy Complex, G-Reco, Aldnoah.Zero, Nobunaga The Fool, Nobunagun, Comet Lucifer, Aquarion Evol, Aquarion Logos, Heavy Object, Macross Delta, Mazinkaiser SKL, Unit Pandora, Devilman Crybaby, Mazinger Infinity, Ghastly Prince Enma Burning Up, M3, Build Divers, Cutey Honey Universe, ID-0, Expelled From Paradise, VOTOMS Alone Again, VOTOMS Phantom Arc, VOTOMS Finder, VOTOMS Case;Irvine, and Flip Flappers (it parodied Flashman). All are better anime with better endings. For the sake of the medium and industry Trigger has to fail and be called out for each and every misstep, no matter how minor.
>>17226268Most autistic post I've read today.
>>17226268See, this is some list you've pulled from somewhere, somewhat autistic.>Macross Delta,You lost your arguement here. I'm sure others will rip it apart too but fucking hell, Delta was bad.
>>17226273Truth isn't autistic.
>>17226274Wait you made it to Delta?I figured most people would flip out at E7AO
Describe this character
>>17226268Active Raid is better than all of those.
>>17226268I just realized how long MJP has been in my backlog. Fuck.
>>17226274>Delta was bad.And it was still the best Macross entry, your point?>>17226278Useless and made an anime that would have been regular bad into horrible.
>>17226277I never finished it, got to like ep 17 and gave up. It had some decent songs though.
>>17226278He shouldn't have lost the scarf. His design was missing something past episode 5.
>>17226284>best Macross entryHah, I'm guessing you regard Seed/Destiny as being the best Gundam series too.
It was the sequel people wanted but lacked some of the characters they wanted.
Alexis did nothing wrong
>>17226282Never seen it, most people tell me it was awful and I believe them.>>17226288Why would I not? CE is UC done better with aspects of previous timelines, it was the Turn A that Turn A failed to be.
>>17226297HE SAID THE THINGLOOK EVERYONE, THE SHITPOSTER SHAT HIMSELF AGAIN!
>>17226278A monster having to come to grips with the fact he's not a monster anymore
>>17226278Monster Boy designed born for a singular purpose trying to cope with the gradual loss of his purpose due to slowly becoming a Real Boy.It's like if a robot made for a single function suddenly became human and has no fucking idea what to do with himself, now that he's human and free and all.
>>17226313Unused concept for the big tentacle thing from Gridman's finale.
>>17226278Considering that all Kaiju were manifestation of Akane's emotions, Anti is her feelings for Gridman.Obviously there's the hate, but his case is unique as it's not entirely a negative emotion, and the other side of it is the admiration, represented by his copy ability that makes him imitate Gridman, and that eventually allows him to develop an individuality and mutate in Gridknight.

>>17227729Kind of sad that he doesn't really disprove this idea.

>>17227860He was a punk which is why OG Gridman handed him his ass, he was happy enough to feed off of one girl rather then ruling the world.

>>17226268It looks like you just threw up a list of every mecha anime you could think of, regardless of quality.
It was decent. The action and designs were super on point. I genuinely was into the show, but I disliked how it ended a lot and ended up becoming hamfisted with how it presented itself.I still enjoyed it for the most part, but it could habe been a lot better.
>>17227729he's not useless he had change for the payphone that one time
>>17228856>but I disliked how it ended a lot and endedbut baby dan dan tho
>>17226204Kaiju loli[spoilers]And everything else besides the ending.[/spoilers]
>>17231022>besides the endingGay
>>17228561shippers are scum no matter what they support
>>17226268>HeromanStopped reading there
>>17226278More importantly, who the fuck was the kaiju loli? I haven't watched the original Gridman, is she a character from that?
>>17231022>Newfag that can't spoiler>Has shit tastes Adds up.
>>17231422She's the daughteru of a kaiju from the original series.
>>17231022Wrong. Everything but the ending was shit. It's like they're trying to cram a 50 episode plot in a 12 episode anime. It needed more one-off episodes to tell more on the character's friendships and developments, especially Anti and Utsumi. The anime is basically just going through the plot beats while leaving the (minimal) humanely character interaction to the audio drama.
>>17231422Her name is Anosillus the 2nd. She is the successor (daughter?) of a kaiju Gridman saved in the original series (the one that makes a cameo in her scene in the final episode). Her hood and backpack resemble the kaiju's shell, her hair resemble the horns, and the music she makes the protagonist listen to is from that very episode.
>>17231477There was plenty of that in the show already.Things like Namiko and Hass going through Rikka's bag or the assist weapons arguing over who takes Junk are nice but they really belong in the audio drama, as they're long winded, pretty much inconsequential conversations that would kill the pacing.
>>17226268>Astral Ocean>Aldnoah.Zero>Aquarion Evol
>>17226313Her left tit lol.
>>17226204I can only say that the characterization was its worst point.
>>17227729>>17227873>no SSSSigma Gridman where he become's Sigma's host and becomes a hero
Is there any sort of record as to why they chose to do only 12 episodes?
Right:Amazing direction. Fantastic action set pieces. Fun characters.Could've been better: The direction might've been too good. There were some points I wish it was just a bit more straight forward. Some of Takane's motivations felt a little skewed at some points. I'm just being greedy but I wanted more action. Maybe something where Gridman and all the support vehicles fight in tandem and have a tag battle of sorts when they form War God Zenon
>>17235825It's just the way the current anime market is, especially for an original series. Its a lot safer and cheaper to do a 13 episode series to test the waters and follow up with a sequel later if its a hit then it is to commit to 24+ episodes only to have it flop before the end of the first half and never recover but still be stuck making and airing another dozen episodes.
People really overblew Rikka's relevance to this show. Suprised she's getting a figma.
>>17236671Her and Utsumi (even though I liked him), they kind of just stuck around doing nothing. I have no idea why they didn't stuck with OG Gridman's idea, where MC merges with Gridman, and his friends manage everything on the other side of the screen. The problem was making the Assist Weapons people that can turn into programs like in Superhuman Syber Squad, since that's basically most of what Ippei and Yuka(?) did, sending in the weapons. They could've taken a different spin on it, where MC's friends are instead more concerned with manners related to how the world is affected by Gridman's battles and the villains, which they tried to do, but the show was simply not long enough to flesh out that aspect. They tried to shoehorn in Rikka as the character that's keeping Akane sane or whatever, but we only get a real feeling of that in the last 2 episodes. And poor Utsumi does nothing throughout the show. They might as well have made Rikka and Utsumi part of the Assist Weapon gang.
>>17226278the gridman bodypillow was made especially for him
>>17236974I want one
>>17226204Aside from action scenes and atmosphere? Nothing.
Gridman vs. Redman when?
>>17226268>For the sake of the medium and industry Trigger has to fail and be called out for each and every misstep, no matter how minor.Well, Darling in the Franxx was pretty hated despite Trigger not touching an episode after 14. They took all the blame and shit. That's why most people kinda skipped on Gridman. Don't get me wrong, Gridman had its audience but it was not as much as DitF was.I wish we had more /m/ shows like Gridman but a little longer to flesh out more stuff.
>>17226268>>17226276Cool. Have fun completing your quest by sperging on one of the deadest parts of 4chan.
>>17226274>>17226277Are you too retarded to read the question he answered? He listed shows with better endings, and if there's anything about Delta or E7AO that wasn't bad it's their endings.
>>17241596AO had a terrible ending. Delta's was so forgettable that I don't remember it at all.
>>17236996So do I, but it's too expensive to buy one just for the irony of it.
>>17241596>Freezing Vibration>Good Ending.Stop shitposting and seek help.
>>17226204I kind of want to see it in SRW, but I also realize it wouldn't fit for several reasons.
>>17247153The "we exist in a fake world made for someone else's pleasure" plot could fit in with a few other series. I'm thinking Might Gaine, Cross Ange, and Big O.
So was Akane actually some kind of emotionally broken computer genius who managed to create an entire computer city with sentient programs, or was that probably Alexis Kerib's handiwork? It makes much more sense if he was the one who made the world according to Akane's wishes in order to trap her in there and torment her.
>>17248862Part of me feels Akane had originally made the world as high school visual novel dating sim and the main cast of characters that became the GM Alliance were possible dating routes till Alexis showed up and developed the world further into it's own reality and brought Akane's consciousness into it. That would explain how in the dream episode where it showed Akane dating and befriending the main cast and her saying that's how it was supposed to be. Though I might be reaching a bit cause of the amount of art work needed to make a VN
>>17226204Borr. I've fapped to him so many times
>>17248920>>17248921God I want to grab him and smell his hair, he won't be able to break my hold on him and I'm almost 3 times his height
>>17248915Something like that. I saw the original show as a kid years ago, so the first and last episodes made perfect sense to me but I can't remember any specific lore, Kaiju or characters, so I had no reference for what was or wasn't possible in Gridman's Computer World.
>>17248926do not lewd the borrleave him alone
>>17248940Can I lewd Y.Aoi cosplaying as Borr?
>>17248933Alexis said in the last episode that Akane made the world/simulation, but that she needed his Kaiju to actually make the city and the people in it. So basically it was a collaborative effort where he had the tools and materials and she did the actual design work.
>>17248917That's a dude?
>>17249375That seems about right. It's so cool that this entire show is an extended version of a Gridman episode. From the perspective of the original show's reality, Alexis would have shown up and started helping Akane, who was probably something of a computer prodigy like a few cahracters from the original show, build her virtual city more and more until it can be one that she can "live in" and be trapped in. Noting something wrong in a computer sector, Gridman would have gone to investigate, but upon contact with Akane's world he was shattered somehow, and SSSS Gridman begins. As for the universe after Akane's gone, I like how the ending implied that the virtual city became self sustaining world since Anosilus II and Anti/Gridnight are both autonomous digital entities, like Gridman and Khan Digifer, who will protect the city in Gridman's stead from then on.>>17226204To answer OP, almost everything went right. I can probably nitpick if I tried very hard, but the show's good enough that I'd rather think about why it's such a good show instead.
>>17249398Yes. Yes he is.
>>17249687But how? Why?
>>17249694Neon Genesis High School has very loose dress codes.

>>17249696>has very loose dress codes? but they all wear black suite
>>17249767Sure, but they are also all boys, and are allowed to wear their hair however they want and whatever facemask they like. Most schools have very strict rules about what one may or may not put on their faces and the length and style of hair you're allowed to have.

>>17251161>the squad referencing the bayverse dinobot toysWhat the fuck?! This sounds so random especially after they took the effort to homage both the original series and the saban reimagining.
