>>17147384>Are prop planes /m/?No.>>>/n/>>>/k/
>>17147519No. It's not.
>>17147772>>17147469Why not? I've seen plane threads on /m/ from time to time.
>>17147384I really hope it's not japanese planes only.
>WW2 piston faggotryDropped.
>>17147922Kids these days are so spoiled by jets.
>>17147775This is what the rule says. Mecha and mecha-related. These are regular planes, so not /m/.It seems pretty clear cut if we are going by a definition such as this: [...]may refer to both scientific ideas and science fiction genres that center on giant robots or machines controlled by people. Mechas are typically depicted as humanoid mobile robots[...]
>>17147384As if my opinion is worth a hill of shit in a rainstorm I think /m/ should be defined as any entertainment that can call it's origin from Japan and is mechanical in nature.
>>17149498So, why do Kaiju get a pass? can't that go on /jp/? do we have to be the refugee board just because there's some audience overlap?
not /m/ even if i like ww2 prop plane so get out
>>17149612Meanwhile Ace Combat is /m/
>>17149486The more elaborated rules from some years ago specifically say "robots and advanced robotics", things with "a common link" to that content, or "a trace amount" of same. Which is to say that things like Doctor Who would get a pass because they routinely have robot characters show up, or FMA or VEG because robo-prosthetics, or Symphogear and Infinite Stratos because mechanized/mecha-like armaments and attacks. There are already boards for real-world vehicles though so I don't think it really belongs here if it isn't sci-fi in some way. But then again we've had various singular off-topic threads over the years where people were cool about it and just happened and was done with. There was a pretty chill Sailor Moon thread, for instance, that managed not to devolve into a not-/m/ bitchfest. Someone brought up it wasn't /m/ and the response was "absolutely but screw it we're having fun". Amazing what people can do when they aren't trying to be obnoxious or jumping down each other's throats.>>17149510Can't say I'm a fan of it either, but they are justified by two reasons.1: MechaGodzilla.2: Kaiju are sci-fi monsters of the type that a lot of mecha fight, so they fulfill the 'common link' in a way.
>>17149618Ace Combat has sci-fi elements.
Looks pretty /m/echanical to me.
>>17147384No Jets, not /m/.
13.1.19: You (>>/k/>>/a/>>/n/) not post here.
No: This would serve only to further dilute the board. Come back when the show has a science fiction element and technology capable of building robotics, a robot character or giant robots or is aware of the genre tropes of mecha shows.
yes it's /m/ fuck the autistsit's also steampunkish, that's also /m/1st ep wasn't very good
>>17150023Does an airborne aircraft carrier count?
>>17149934But /m/ loves the propeller plane flight sequence in Honey Mayonnaise.
>>17150023go fuck yourselfthere's lots of crap /m/ that's much less /m/ than this show
It's not /m/ because ki-43 won against a Shiden.
>>17149465not even a jetfag, wheres my goddamn golden age props, or hell, WW1 props?its always the same fucking shit, WW2 is the most boring era for aviation simply because its the most overdone
>>17150158>wheres my goddamn golden age props, or hell, WW1 props? They're not flashy enough, I guess.
Not /m/, unlike these:>>17106694>>17144412>>17148566>>17141639>>17141282>>17106193>>17141305>>17125397>>17142005>>17148386>>17058233
So, how its the show?
>>17150037>expecting a series from the studio that did Beserk (2016) and Beserk (2017) to be any good
>>17150215Nice dogfights wasted on WW2 propeller planes.
>>17150198but they're famous for being flashyjust look at some of the Schneider cup racersthe only anime that deals with that stuff is Porco Rosso, which is a damn shame since that era is so much more interesting than yet more WW2 fighter wank.
>>17150216Did you even watch the show or just shitposting?
>>17150230its the cancerous /v/ mentality of studio warsstudios don't matter as much as the staff do, and the director for this show isn't the hack who was behind berserk
>>171502211920s and early 30s planes are the best. I agree.
>>17150220This. Should have been WW1 triplanes.
>>17147384>All 3DGCI>Muh GuP bullshit>Colored planesBetter play my Combat flitght Simulator
>>17150040>A fucking ZeppelinOne hit and boom.
>>17150508It's a blimp.
>>17147384First episode is nice, but I have questions1. Why do Zero cannon shots are no different in comparison with rifle-caliber MGs?2. Why did Shiden pilots made little to no effort to outrun Zeros and then hit them on speed?>>17150037>steampunkishThat's dieselpunk, m8
>>17150508No, that's not how zeppelins work. Zeppelins are rigid airships, so they are more durable than a hydrogen-filled balloon. Also, we do not know if those zeppelins are not filled with helium.
>>17150640Also, if they were to target a zeppelin and they wanted to see it destroyed, not captured, why didn't they brought the planes that actually had weaponry that could take a zeppelin down in no time? For example, if all those Zeroes would be replaced by Yak-7 with RS-82 rockets, zeppelin would be down in no time.
>>17149928You know levers exist in real life, right?
>>17150704mechs also exist in real life, what is your point
After War Kotobuki X is goodMuch better opening episode than girly airforceGuess a disadvantage of 3D animation is it takes longer to create unique models for throwaway dudes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWXQUhBsUVMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFEXitPn1ko https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7_1c2PsVIQhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKpuYWo5La4
>>17150725>mechs also exist in real life
>>17149928So is anything automotive, yet we don't populate the board with threads about car and motorcycle repair because there are OTHER BOARDS SPECIFICALLY FOR REAL LIFE VEHICLES.
>>17150937bring /mo/ back
>>17147384It's /m/ if you post more of the girl in yellow
>>17150672They are Ki-43s not Zeros.
>>17149510Japanese mysticism leans heavily on animism, and the spirit that inhabits the mechanical giant robots of /m/ are the same that inhabit kaiju. Or as the kids would say it:>same energy>mood
>>17149510years ago, during the great toku wars of /m/, mods descended and said that all toku is /m/ except in rare cases like the sailor moon toku which goes to /a/
>>17150937It's arbitrary. We're the punching bag of the chans and I hate it.>>17151744It's either an official rule or it isn't. I don't give a damn what some possibly fired mod from years ago said, they don't even fucking talk here anymore.
>>17151767It was a sticky for like a year. Welcome to /m/, newfaggot.
>>17151692The planes that attack Zeppelin are Zeros.
>they all have the same plane>the CG planes look ugly as fuckhow to kill any interest>>17150212based>>17150230your webm looks like utter shit, it looks worse than old games>>17150672because it's a dumb cartoon
>>17152756>because it's a dumb cartoonCartoons can be dumb, but they shouldn't be this way
>>17153133Have you ever consider that maybe, just maybe, maybe their plan was to try and captured the zeppelin but they can fight the MC group so they try to down it instead?
>>17153160How would they capture a zeppelin if all they have is Zeros? They should have had a vehicle for boarding party.
>>17153248You have to clear the enemy fighters first.
>>17153278Still, the transport should have been nearby. For example, the Figueroa assault in Crimson Skies. First, they strip the airship off it's defence, then they send a bomber to drop the troops on it.But then it would have been seen on the radar, because, you know, piston engine zeppelins and heavy planes can't be that stealthy.
>>17153307Let's just wait and see then. It's only the first episode, we don't know how the air pirates operate yet.
After finally watching the first episode, my main complaint with it is that is a bit too generic and previsible. You have the colourful main cast squad of skilled yet quirky characters of already seen stock - serious, profissional family girl; easygoing drunkard; elegant and mannerly girl; stoic and emotionless girl (with sick family member); loud, partially dumb and gluttonous MC, and probably with an annoying, trickster kid character coming next episode. You know from the get-go that that band of male braggants will die to show off how the main cast is something else. We can already foresee that blue snake plane killed a former partner of MC girl, and that she will meet its pilot, which is most certainly another quirky girl, in some odd situation and befriend her without knowing that she is her enemy pilot. Probably the only thing that really amused me with this episode was the character of the airship captain. Also, we need more references to Kato Hayabusa.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdD6DezelBs
>>17154267No we don't, you nation betraying weeb. Make references to western pilots.
Why is yukari the mc
>>17154324>you nation betraying weebI'm not even american.
>>17154324I don't want more strike witches, but I would like more anime with Chuck Yeager
