Wait, so after living as a hobo in ZZ, he somehow gets rich and marries a goth loli? What the fuck?

He didn't do anything wrong in the first place. He was a soldier who enjoyed the chaos violence of battle.

He touched Adol without consent.

Bodyguard, actually. The Federation picked hin up and assigned to a special ops mobile suit team.

He changes his name and adopts a new identity and gets back into the Feddie military piloting a GM Night Seeker. His abilities catches the eye of a big corporation head, who hires him to be a bodyguard for the Zeon cyber newtype loli. He also bodies Zeon aces, including another cyber newtype and a sniper ace who fight him at the same time. He's cool.

He kills Jamaican and (in ANT) Bask for literally no reason.

Even more bizarre is that despite personally dismantling the Titans through his meaningless arbitrary backstabbing and knowing full well his faction no longer exists, he continues to attack the Argama for no reason and gets Seabook's grandpa killed, all while taking advantage of a bunch of orphans.

Classic Yazan
>>
He falls to his death in ZZ
>>
Gundam Origin Ep VI:

I 200% believe that Yazan was the Feddy agent who infilitrated the Zeon prison to break out Revil. Shortly after the operation, there is a brief scene with a high-ranking Federal officer on the phone talking about the operation's success, and he issues a "two-rank promotion", which is a clear Titans reference (feds who joined the Titans got an instant two-rank promotion just for joining).

I was pumped when I realized who he was. There's a part where Revil even asks his name and Yazan doesn't tell him.

Saegusa is the one who got killed and the one on the right is Keathron you fucking retard.
>>
>>17141490
The more I think about it, the more I realize how fucking retarded Yazan in ZZ was.

What possible reason did he have for fighting the Argama then? It wasn't for the Titans since he personally killed their command. He wanted to get back into soldiering, but he didn't attempt to contact Mashymre and join Zeon. They probably would have given him a mobile suit on the spot and, hey, he could probably take down the Argama's skeleton crew singlehandedly in a Gaza which would have been a much better option than using a meme junk robot.
Or he could have just asked to join the Argama's crew. They needed the pilots and they didn't know his true identity. Then later defected, pulled a Jamaicon on Bright/Beecha, or just stuck around, especially since the Argama got an insane amount of bloody fighting in.
>>
>>17141949
I thought they made it clear in Z that he hated the Zeta gundam and Argama's crew for outsmarting him in each battle
>>
>>17144201
That's the more reason to join Marcelo.
Though despite >>17141949, he never meets with any one else other than Gemon.
>>
>>17141754
If he's in the center of an O'Neill cylinder, wouldn't he just gently float down until he reached the wall?
>>
>>17144273

The further he got from the center, the more "gravity" he'd be subject to, and the faster he'd fall. It'd be gentle at first, but given the walls experience 1G it wouldn't last. At least, that's my understanding.

>>
>>17141829
The two rank promotion thing is just an in-joke in Gundam. It's normally used as a promotion given to someone if they pull off an impossible task, normally ending in the characters death.

And if I remember correctly, Titans didn't get a two rank promotion, they essentially had a two ranks over their normal rank when they address someone from the Federation.

Example, if one Titans officer and Federation Officer held the same rank and had to work together, the Titans officer would outrank the Federation Officer by 2 ranks.
>>
>>17147343
If you enlisted in the Titans you received a two rank promotion over your Federation rank.

>>17147336
Data Gundam, a character profile running in Gundam Ace. The caption below that picture says "the man strongly resembles" him. The blurb in the profile also says (from what I've looked up):

January UC 0094 - Yazan, weary of living life on earth once again returns to ShangriLa, where it's said that he returned to being a bodyguard of the junk shop. It's said that he promised to give assistance to the Neo Zeon remnants uprising and went on a rampage there at the time. What became of the man who prowled, seeking battle like a beast is unknown.

I think that excerpt comes from a comic where Judau has to come back to Shangri-la to smack down Yazan. Doubt it was canon.

If MSV-R Johnny Ridden is canon does anyone know anything about how Yazan gets a Gundam MK II? Some anon posted a manga scan awhile back.
>>
>>17155422
Do you know the name of that comic?
>>
>>17155422
>If MSV-R Johnny Ridden is canon
it's explicitly not
>>
>>17155472
I'm sure it is. It even had a tie in with Twilight Axis via Arlette, who shows up in the manga around the time the novel started.
>>
>>17156749
It isn't, unfortunately.

Bandai has said that all animations are Canon, mangas are not until animated, full stop.

You don't have to preach to the choir here, some of the manga retellings and side stories are better than the originals.

Given The Origin and the 40th anniversary, maybe we'll get some updated retellings of the main Char/Amuro saga, who knows?
>>
>>17157304
>Bandai has said that all animations are Canon, mangas are not until animated, full stop.
Is there a source? Not that I'm questioning it, but this gets parroted a lot. If there was some kind of magazine interview or online posting, it would go a long way toward establishing this as a proven statement.
>>
>>17157361
It comes from Mark Simmons on MAHQ.
>>
>>17157361
It's mangled, mistranslated, outdated, misleading and misused.

That refers to the general stance they had before 2006 and the Harmony of Gundam project where they canonised a bunch of MSV/manga/game MS, and it wasn't flat out stated but only vaguely touched on in an interview that got summarised on the internet on a personal blog, that got further summarised by Mark Simmons who is clearly unsure about the hard facts: Look at his original post and you see wording like "are GENERALLY not considered official" "Horiguchi SUGGESTS" " If I'm interpreting Horiguchi's followup comments correctly, he seems to be suggesting that".

Furthermore these were not official statements, just discussion amongst people on a panel.

The biggest issue is that Mark clearly has no idea what 公式 means in this context and he translates it to "official"- Saying that Gundam games are not "official"- When it's supposed to mean "officially part of the world" (i.e. short for 公式設定). This is best displayed when he says

> Incidentally, the term "canon" is probably unhelpful here. The term has no Japanese equivalent, and the Japanese staff generally talk about what's "official" instead.

>the term has no Japanese equivalent
The Japanese equivalent is 正史 (lit. "correct history").
>>
>>17157430
In any case Mark's posts on the subject, despite clearly having meant to be more ambiguous, somehow got twisted into "only animated is official" as an unchanging stance even though the entire point of the interview was how that was CHANGING, back in 2006.

Now, Sunrise's Inoue Kouichi did say something like that in 2005, but with some additional information.
(Source: Great Mechanics Vol. 15)

He said that "Sunrise official" in the Gundam world technically refers only to things that are animated, BUT books and games supervised by Sunrise are semi-official. He also claims that Tomino's novels are all canon (正史), and that MSG has the movie, TV, and novel versions and none of those is the "real" one. Once again this was in 2005.

In a 2016 article however
https://akiba-souken.com/article/27304/
Sunrise's Ogata Naohiro straight up says that the old stance of "only animated works are canon" is NO LONGER VALID. Thunderbolt for example is not canon; They did not consider canonicity when making it, only that it was good timing for the studio, and he says that it's "half parallel".
>>
>>17157456
tl;dr
>Bandai has said that all animations are Canon, mangas are not until animated, full stop.
This is a load of flaming bullshit (also it's Sunrise, not Bandai that decides).

The real official stance is that there is no official stance. Some stuff is canon, some stuff isn't, it can change at any time entirely up to Sunrise. The closest thing you can get to a list of canon works is Sunrise's timelines, but those add/remove stuff all the time and sometimes included things that contradict themselves (Hathaway's Flash novel being included on a timeline with movie CCA despite being a sequel to novel CCA which is nothing like the movie, for example).
>>
>>17144302
...
There's no gravity in O'Neill cylinder, only when you're standing on "ground" you experience pseudo-gravity thanks to centrifugal force. Though when the whole cylinder is rotating around you and you float towards the walls you could very well get hurt by colliding with some bulding, tree whatever.
>>
>>17157456
Thanks for proving that you don't know Japanese either. He doesn't say none is the real one. He says it isn't easy to say which is the real one, which is completely fucking different.

You're also clearly daft when it comes to trying to call him out for not knowing what 公式 means. 公式設定 appears on countless Gundam books and can be a broad overarching term as well. Hell, it's what the damn encyclopedia has in the title as well. There is still no canon term equivalent in Japan. Not even 2chan theirs around correct history and stuff.

And that blog basically reprinted the interview from Dengeki so it wasn't a summary of a summary you twat. Research beforehand.
>>
I wonder what insight might be gotten from looking into how Japan handles disagreements about this sort of thing on their boards
>>
>>17141029
Lat UC can only be saved by him violating every snowflake newtype. He is a newtype that rejected being a newtype because it was to gay for a manly man like himself. And now he must cleans the UC.
>>
>>17158773
Japan doesn't care. It's this bizarre idiotic stance that English fans have of trying to sort through every damn little thing. It's the same when trying to hammer down timelines for the shows. Zeta and ZZ never made any sense because the timelines were built based on their airdates (roughly) so timing is a joke. This is also why they've abandoned having any sort of concrete dating system in most work nowadays too.
>>
>>17158544

An O'Neill cylinder is a closed system, so the air inside it would be subject to that same pseudo gravity generated by centrifugal force as the walls would be, no?

It's not a clone, it's just a cyber newtype girl who was in the same OYW unit as Johnny Ridden but kept in cryostasis or someshit so she hasn't aged much. Her name is "Ingrid 0".

She uses the Johnny Ridden name as a callsign to try and draw out the real Johnny Ridden, just like all the other "subtle" shit they're doing like hacking into Led's combat simulation and inserting Johnny Ridden's combat data as an opponent and dropping the Johnny Ridden name every chance they get like they're actively fucking with him to see if he's faking the memory loss or not to see if he gets nervous and trips up.

Johnny Ridden, for all his talent, had the personality and moral ambition of wet cardboard. The dude was McGrunt, through and through. They would have to redo his character for a series.
>>
>>17164782
Yeah, the closest thing to a story about him post war was the Hasegawa manga, and that mostly worked since it was a post war thing, so you could easily do the whole "I don't want to be X anymore, ptsd over the bad things you did, or try to live a quiet life but ghosts of the past keep pulling you back in). The Hasegawa manga also gave him a very different personality during the war, he's basically suicidal trying to get himself injured so he could be discharged, but he was was lucky and good at piloting so that never happens.

The little info about him during the war, he was just a rank and file soldier, and his only notable trait was his garrish colorscheme which had people confusing him for Char Aznable, annoying him.

>>17144380
look to the left, there he is again!
