The trigger isn't that bad it's just heavy and nobody will make replacement springs to fix it (i tried). btw you shouldn't be paying more than $300 or $350 for the plastic framed ones, $600+ is crazy high, that's what the aluminum frame First Editions go for.

Depends what division you consider flagship. Shadow 2 is the production gun to beat. Their TacSport line is nicer as an open/limited gun, but you're running against $2000+ 2011s in those divisions, so it doesn't seem nearly so baller.

CDNN has been selling them (slowly) for a few months on gunbroker, there's another one up right now which looks a bit more banged up and looks like it has a paler frame. They've generally been selling for around a kilobuck. I did not pay $2,000 tho.

>>
Got a sub2k barebones 40cal carbine that uses glock magazines a year ago. At the time, I thought I could find a used LE 40 glock for a decent price and eventually compliment it.
Gun fever finally struck, I didn't really like the prices or availability I saw for used 40cal glocks, so I broke down and bought a gen4 32 for $500 out the door.
New to polymer pistols, and was a bit surprised by how insignificant the frame seems minus the barrel and slide. Haven't had it on the range yet, but through the dozen live rounds and much dry fire practice, the action seems ultra smooth, and the feel is good. I know the gen5 does away with the finger molded handle, but with the proper backstrap my gen 4 feels great in my hands.
Did I do good based on value? Could've saved a little on a Gen 2 or maybe even a 3 used, but not much after transfer fees. Is it typical for local stores to have better deals, especially cash deals VS online prices?
Not looking for "you should have bought ___ brand" or "you should have gone with ___ caliber instead" responses. More interested in opinions on the value of the purchase. Is it typical for local shops to be cheaper? Are there reasons that holding out for a Gen 5 would have been preferable?
>>
>>42587591

I should photoshop that hammer out since it's not DAK anymore, I made it normal DA/SA now pic related. But yeah it was DAK.

DAK is like backwards DA/SA. The first shot is a long but "light" DA pull of about 6 pounds. After the gun cycles and loads another round you have two options. You can either let the trigger partially out to the first reset, it goes click like any DA/SA, but instead of a super short reset and a very light crisp break, it's a very long reset with a heavy as frick 9 pound short length double action pull. Very very unpleasant and imo dangerous, it's not at all predictable like a nice revolver DA. Your second option is to keep letting the trigger out after the first reset to the second reset, all the way out, which will let you repeat the original long but light 6 pound DA pull a la traditional DAO.

It's completely backwards, why anyone would want a LIGHT double action first with a HEAVY shorter double action second is a mystery. Why not just straight normal long DAO like everyone else? Why not have just a short but heavy DAO like a Ruger? Why not normal heavy DA followed by light SA like every gun for 60 years? I think Mr. Kellerman is laughing from the grave at this epic troll he got Sig to fall for.

tl;dr It's nothing like LEM. LEM is basically a SAO disguised as a DAO with an articulated hammer and ultra long takeup.
>>
>>42587610
That sounds weird
I'll stick to my Walther AS trigger.
>>
>>42587597
Yeah, but I do have the option of switching to a 9mm barrel, I believe. Not so with the sub2k, and don't think I would, but I'm fine with the ammo, at least atm. Is it typical for local shops to beat online prices? Still new to the hobby, and have been surprised to see 2 different local shops beat the best online prices I had seen. Maybe I wasn't looking at the right sites, but even if within a few dollars factoring in transfer fees I'd go local. To have local beat online prices regardless of transfer fees has been a surprise for me.

>>42587675
Yeah it's pretty weird and inexplicable.

LEM is great. P99 AS modes are great (dat break and reset, whew). DAO is tolerable, maybe even good depending on how smooth it is. But DAK is just... no.

Gun people are generally pretty dumb about these unusual trigger modes and frequently mix them up, describe them terribly, or just parrot the stupid shit that others have said. If it's not DA/SA or straight SAO striker it seems hard for most people to comprehend. LEM is probably the worst, people get really confused by idiots' descriptions when in reality it's as simple as can be. But people get confused about P99's AS mode too, and Daewoo's """triple""" action, and DAK, and even stuff you'd think would be ultra simple like Ruger's partially cocked DAO system, Taurus' "second strike" DA/SA mode and glox partially pre-charged striker that people want to call "striker" (as in SAO like all the rest) because it has a striker, when it's really a DAO.

>>42587675
>made in India
Real talk, those parts that were made in India are noticeably the highest quality Sig parts I've seen. On all of them, in this batch and a few other batches of Sig parts I've worked with, the edges are crisp, there's no grainy MIM grossness, every edge and radius and serration was utterly perfect. And I assure you I autistically look at parts for things like this, the US-made Sig parts look the worst to me.

As far as I can tell, there's no truth to the poo-in-loo Sig-shitting. If anything the vaunted US parts are the low end of the quality totem pole.

You gotta get that fast food tolerance up. Here's next week's homework:
Monday go to McDolan's and get the buy-one-get-one-for-$1 Big Macs. Get like 4.
Tuesday go to Wendy's and get a combo, either a Baconator with the American """"cheese"""" swapped for bleu cheese or Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger combo, and swap the fries for large chili always.
Wednesday go back to McDolan's and get 4 Filet-o-Fish on the same buy-get-$1 deal.
Turdsday treat yourself to something nice, get a Teemah from Killer Burger and a large shake.
Friday back to the grind, McDolan's Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger, make it a double.
You can rest your gut on the weekend.

If you have the body for it and don't have the taste for IT* or med tech, get into the trades, esp welding, electrician, plumbing or HVAC. Preferably not something that ages your body worse than war like carpentry or bricklaying. With men getting softer, trades will only get in higher demand over the next 20-30 years as all the trust fund sois wonder who's going to fix and build their stuff.

If you want to make more than $60,000-70,000 a year you're gonna need to find your motivation and a job that you love.

The size is great, but the hump where the frame ends is a little odd feeling. The gun recoils very mildly, I found it pretty easy to shoot. I ultimately did not think it made sense when the ammo cost was so much more than 9mm and the G19 is slightly more comfortable.

Looking for a new pistol.
Want a sub-compact 9mm, double stack.
I currently have a Shield(9mm) and a Glock 19(with a lot of magazines).
Obvious choice would be the Glock 26(gen 5). But I'm also considering the CZ Rami. I've always liked the Rami, and since I don't own a full metal pistol yet, it would kinda get me into the CZ 75 line and get a full size CZ later.
Thoughts?

Hey guys, I love my Glock 34 and I'm trying to stay as close to stock as possible, but the trigger is unacceptable. The drag/creep makes for a really unsatisfying spongy break. My stock Glock 26 isn't stellar in this regard, but definitely has a crisper break. Is it just the lighter factory connector? Can you guys recommend any aftermarket triggers/connectors/springs for this?
>>
>>42595287
You can get spring kits, the striker spring makes the biggest difference but can sometimes get light strikes with heavier primers, so you gotta use Federal. Some other options are taking a dremel and rounding off/smoothing the plunger safety. You could also try a new connector in case that Glock one is trash or possibly bent
>>
>>42595201
Oh. Must be nice to have no flaws!

>>42595282
Thanks, me too

>>42595287
Apart from using an 8 pound or "plus" connector you can't make a glocc trigger more crisp, it's impossible because it's a partially pre-charged mechanism. Your finger will ALWAYS be cocking the striker no matter what you do, it can only be reduced slightly with a plus connector.
Play with spring rates can make the trigger pull weight more ideal as well.

Your options for 10mm are either single-stack, metal-framed guns like the P220/1911 (or a 2011 but then they can get pretty thicc) or a 29/20/40, or some off-brand shit like EAA/Springfield. Is there really such a thing as too much trigger finger?

I had a competitor guy mention that using the middle of the pad of my trigger finger was probably why I was hitting down and to the left so much running a plate rack. I choked up to nearly my first knuckle, and I did start tapping closer to center on each plate on the rack. Testing on a adjustable grip trainer shows it takes a lot less force, and thus less disturbance for the pistol overall, the further towards my palm I go with just an index finger.

So is there such a thing as too much trigger finger? I have yet to ever see me pull all my shots right on a right handed grip.

Actually poor guy here. I live in Atlanta Georgia and am looking for a reliable conceal carry pistol. Brand, caliber, aesthetics, etc are all irrelevant. White nitride CZ p10C discontinued in 2018. I didn't actually look at it. The slide is a sort of white stainless steel and the frame is tan. Looks like the only white polymer pistols in production are the Taurus Spectrum, Ruger LCP, and SCCY. Best you'll do is get a Sig and change the frame. I like nickel plated guns with white ivory grips check out SAAs and the Whitney Wolverine.

Asking out of curiousity, since I live in a place where I cant really buy guns anyway. The Glock is often considered THE ideal polymer handgun on what a polymer handgun should be like. It's not bad by any means. /k/ will shit on taurus as being a Favella gun, but when it works, it works. There are videos on YouTube to show you what to test for to ensure the revolver is good before trying to shoot it. I bought it specifically because of what you mentioned, 3 different calibers. Was my first ever gun.
>9mm
Was my first caliber I shot. Ammo is dirt cheap and plentiful. Recoil is like nothing out of such a heavy gun. I used this to learn how to shoot the gun, how heavy the trigger is. How to reload, etc.
>.38 Special
Basically a long 9mm. Cheaper price than .357 MAG.
>.357 Mag
the Taurus can shoot full power hot loads of .357 no problem and out of a 3" barrel, they're still decent. Great for self defense.

I have a whole mess of all 3 calibers. Cheap 115gr 9mm and run of the mill .38sp for range days and easy shooting. Hot hollowpoint magnum loads of .357, .38sp, and 147gr 9mm Hollowpoints for self defense carry. I honestly just buy any sort of defensive ammo for the 3 calibers when they're on sale. Just a word to the wise with wheel guns. Do NOT snap the cylinder open or shut like you see in movies. It can and will bend the rod.

Among others yeah. The truth is gloc isn't better at literally anything than some other brand, they're all great, so pick the one that has the features, ergonomics, price or whatever that YOU like best, not what some inked up fauxperator told you was best!

Right now the S&W M&P M2.0 Compact and CZ P10C are in the mid $300s, both have better ergonomics (subjective), sights (objective), triggers (objective) than glok, and cost $200 less. It's an absolute no-brainer, unless you tried everything and you actually like gloc for some reason.

>>42603115
The consensus of /k/ is that they are mainly noguns children who parrot stupid memes. Don't ever take anything anyone on /k/ says as absolute truth, especially when it's something so obtuse as "an entire brand is shit, don't buy it." That's ridiculous. Don't believe me either, go dig around!

Ergonomics, build quality, and reliable. The G2C is 3/5ths the cost yet the Shield, even a gen 1 shield, is 10 times the quality and that is not an exaggeration. Not to mention how accessible parts, holsters, and other accessories are.

That is the definition of an exaggeration. I'm struggling to think of ANY example on the planet where even the highest, most premium gun is TEN TIMES the quality of the next step down. USPs used to come in hard cases, can't say for sure why they got cheap.

My guess is the VP9 and P30 are "civilian" guns and as such you and I are more likely to use, want or need a decent quality case, so cut foam makes us feel nice and fuzzy inside. It's presentation you know? But USPs are primarily police/government contract guns which are unlikely to ever use the case, so cost-savings make sense when guns go into an armory. Mark 23s come in a basic bitch un-cut egg crate foam shitbox too despite the laughable price.

The M&P series are just correctly priced glocks with less aftermarket. If you don't intend to dump an additional $1000 into your pistol, they're pretty much the best workhorse for the price. Other pistols will be better, but in terms of cost effectiveness, it's the M&P.
>>
>>42606321
And I'm betting the only Glock you've ever shot is none of them

>>42607219
Based on? This is a very empty statement

>>42607450
The M&Ps are also less accurate with more expensive magazines

If a $150 price difference is that significant then people need to reevaluate their spending because the cost of ammo ends up dwarfing the pistol cost (if you actually shoot)
>>
>>42608003

>The M&Ps are also less accurate

I'm sorry are you trying to claim that the gun itself has anything to do with accuracy in handguns?
>>
>>42605348
The difference between 2 high end 1911 brands is that they're not made by the same third worlders who produce blenders and disposable forks. If you think the G2C feels great you must never have held an actual good gun. I don't have stats but I took my shield into the ocean, shot it under water, have dropped it down a mountain, and fired a few thousands rounds with it cycling both 115gr, 124, 147gr, and snake shot. A buddy of mine can only reliable fire 124 gr out of him or else it will have cycling issues. Meanwhile when I worked at a gun shop G2Cs regularly came with issues out the box. Sights had fallen off, surface rust, a mag well got stuck when a customer handled one. No such issue with even a SDV Smith. The Shield isn't the best small 9mm out there but it's good for the price. The Taurus is bad at any price.
>>
>>42608013
Not him, and it does, the m&p 1.0 was notroious for having poor groupings at 25y compared to other tilting breech pistols. But I've seem b-8 after b-8 from 25y showing the 2.0 pistols have fixed the issue.

Walther's will have to have custom milling to have a backup rear sight. p-10c and 509 mrd won't (assuming you don't want the fuck long 509 fullsize, but same deal if you do). I have heard but not verified with my own eyes that the Sig RXs are milled for Romeo sights only. I don't know enough about the Glock MOS to say anything.

Thanks this helped narrow down the list to just these:
>Glock G19 Gen 5 MOS
>RMR06CZ p10c
>FN 509 Tactical

I want the option to have suppressor sights for cowitnessing the optic and I don't want to have custom milling done. I ruled out the SIG RX because on their site it seems that it's set to be used with their proprietary optic only, I like having more options available.

Another anon said the 509 has had a lot of issues and requires being sent back to FN every 5k rounds. Know if that is true?
>>
>>42608433
>requires being sent back to FN every 5k rounds
They put that in an old manual. Not even sure it was the 509 and not the FNC or FNS. Lot of memes about that and squishy-squishy. Anyway, it's not in there now.

Dude at my local range had the original 509. He could shoot the nuts off a gnat with it, but I thought the trigger was very meh personally. Says more about me than the gun though. He said it took the old Sig #8 sights though, so it has a good selection of sights if it doesn't come with supressor height sights out of the box.

Sure, but it’s not like you’re expected to snipe at 25 yards with a pistol. $150 saved is $150 spent on ammo to practice with- and the M&P is good enough to get the job done, so that’s a valuable $150
>>
>>42608324
Probably the glock but i own a few (19g4 & 19x) and am just used to them. I have the Q5 as well, my only grip is that the grip isn't wide enough and the larger backstraps that come with it put my hand at an odd angle.
>>
Does anybody know when the Q100 Gen 2s are gonna show up?
>>
>>42608003
HK designed the USP frame without needing metal inserts, created a better frame grip that doesn’t need rubber or stippling or whatever done to it, and specifically designed the USP to take higher pressure loads. Also, it comes with well liked, usable sights from the factory.
The only thing comparable Glocks do better is capacity and size/weight. However, weight is one of the more attractive features of Glocks, which is why they are chosen by groups who know they aren’t going to be using their pistols as primary weapons. Plus, both are so reliable that there is little point in comparing them, as most people will never reach either a 17 or a USPs breaking point.
I have owned both, and I would rather use a USP, which in my opinion also has better recoil management, than a Glock 17 for most applications.
While you could say that the 19 trumps both because it keeps the same ammo as a USP while being smaller than both it and the 17, it also recoils harder, like all smaller, lighter guns do. This can be mitigated by training, thankfully, which is why so many people recommend it anyways (despite the fact that most people don’t shoot often enough to really make the most of their weapon) and get as defensive as you do when I state things like my previous post.

I dunno, but imo it's worth waiting for since the old ones had very long mushy triggers and the new ones seem to (from watching video) have really great triggers.

You could always get one of the hammer fired GPs and keep it cocked and locked for a nice single action only pull.

I like the APX. It has that familiar Beretta quality. I'm a bit biased, I will admit. The Beretta 92 is my favorite handgun, ever.

The APX has a lot going for it. Price, fit, finish, customization options, carry options, etc. The trigger is above average for striker fired guns, at least from my experience. I would easily put it above Glock.
>>
>>42610607
I feel like beretta didn’t put that typical effort that italians do in making it extraordinary.
>>
I have a 1911 and the front and rear sights are black which makes sighting a bit more difficult than I care it to be. I know this might sound stupid but has anyone painting their sights before? It's just a black parkerized front site with small serrations. I'm opting for a cheap fix since it's a range toy and not a carry gun
>>

>>42610949
imo in the case of the APX the extraordinary things are the plentiful features and options, not the "quality." Not to say it's poor quality, it's the same quality as any other polymer handgun like S&W, glok, Ruger, Steyr, Walther, HK or CZ, but it's not a Sphinx SDP which imo is a tier up for polymer handguns. It's a good quality duty gun with a boatload of options.

Where the 92 is the opposite of an APX, it's a smooth, nice feeling gun that makes you feel good about it, but it doesn't have the features or utility of the APX, not even close.

APX is in the same tier as the PX4 imo, but with wayyyy more features than the PX4.

>>42609998
Post video of it shooting pls lol

>>42610607
Nice pic! The vignette around the edges is suspiciously perfect though, did you use a shaped snoot, light panel aligned to the framing, post production, or was it luck?

>>42611181
Lots of people do that, get some white nail polish and a toothpick and plop a dot on each one. It won't be ultra precise but that's what the top edge of the sights are for.

You may run into some trouble with the serrations though which will have a tendency to wick a liquid into their crevasses, making the edges smear. You might want to try a really thick paint that won't run or seep.

Also fwiw I prefer plain black target sights for fun shooting, imo dots and tritium are for fast/people shooting.

Also also replacement black sights are only like $15-25 apiece so $30-50 for a set in any height combination you need from the likes of Dawson or Novak. Unless the sighs are fixed.

when you start shooting you're concentrating but you're starting to flinch as you shoot more. Slow! Down! drill dry fire exercises at home and take a full deep breath between shots and reset the trigger on your handgun deliberately, IE having a smooth pull until it breaks and goes bang, holding it there through the action, resetting the sights, then slowly letting off the trigger until it goes click, then repeating.

Why do so many striker fired polymer handguns look similar to a Glock anyway? It kind of feels like I can describe majority of them as "Glock variant" appearance-wise. Is it because the nature/design of a striker fired handgun tends to make them look like that?

Because a gun has to have a certain length grip to fit the average male fingers, it has to be a certain width to accomodate a double stack magazine, the slide has to be a certain width to have enough metal to be strong but still encapsulate the barrel, etc. Everything is dictated by ergonomics and physics.

Or do you mean in aesthetic design? Because if that's what you meant neighbor you cray. Everything looks as different as it could be for brand recognition reasons, nobody copies anybody or they'll get sued. Apart from being plastic and having the same slide coatings guns don't look alike.

I've found if I do forearm/grip exercises before I shoot (think griptrainers) I tend to shoot better since my muscles are warmed up and my grip is better. Honestly dry-firing until you can feel that 'perfect' grip has helped immensely. Also, just shoot, when I try to check my target after every shot my shots tend to scatter and I underload my mags so I don't feel the need to shoot a few more rounds before I assess my performance.

Not at first, the slide was EXTREMELY tight on the frame rails, I had to do a ton of work on the rails and polish inside the slide but after that it was super smooth and still non-wiggly tight. After that I didn't have malfunctions, but the trigger was always too heavy even with a heavy trigger spring and lighter striker spring. That was abnormal but not why I hated the gun.

I think if you like gloc, get a gen 5 and don't mess with it. Building a P80 is fun but don't expect anything special or cheap, it's work, it's expensive, and it may be finicky. imo
