Other than the IDF using it against unruly urchins, are there any military or LE applications of .22LR?
Wherever you need a blank just use a 22 instead. Rifle grenades, funerals, mock executions, the list goes on.
CIA used .22 Mag fo dat stealthy pewpewpew
>>42579550I've heard of Chechens using them as <100m sniper platforms in urban areas. Hard to pinpoint
the rounds are so thin they will pass through the fibres of enemy plates if well placed and from a high enough velocity rifle
>>42579550I've heard of LE using tiny 22 pocket pistols as sidearms for undercover concealment.I read a story about a cop doing a drug sting on a beach; he had an NAA mini revolver hidden in his drink cup.
>>42581123>NAA mini revolver hidden in his drink cup. What an absolute mad lad
>>42581123There was a SC highway patrolman who was killed in a shootout by one in the early 90s. He actually shot the perp 5 times with a SW 28, perp survived. The perp shit him with a NAA .22 magnum which went through his should, into his heart
>>42580838>rifle cartridge that drives a projectile anywhere from 1800fps to 2500fps>consistently belches a decent fireball from the muzzle on pistol length barrelsOh yeah, this aggressively supersonic cartridge that fireballs conspicuously will be so stealthy, just screw on the silencer breh. You're thinking of .22 Long Rifle and .22 Short
>>42581440.22 mag is a reasonably common clambering for a number of pistols. I can't off the top of my head think of any rifles chambered for it though. Examples?
>>42581123Thats actually pretty ingenius desu, it'll sink to the bottom of a coffee cup and no one will question it
>>42581554Reasonably common? I can think of two automatic pistols in .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire, the AMT Automag II, and the Kel-Tec PMR30, everything else is revolver of one kind or another. For rifles in .22WMR, I can think of quite a few, Henry makes one, Marlin made one, Cz makes some, if anything it's a better suited cartridge for rifles because the long barrels let it burn up all its powder to accelerate the projectile further, giving you less noise and flash at the muzzle and a higher velocity.I really think you're thinking of .22 Long Rifle, because that's actually subsonic, and has been used by a lot of assassin types.
.22lr was developed as a assassins round for pocket pistols.
>>42582275Literally just an update on .22 long to sell more guns, but ok.
suppressed gun in cameracan fit a scope alongside too
>>42579550russian police have also used .22 during protest and more recently some french police have been seen in paris with some bolt action rifles during the yellow vest protest, probably .22 or something bigger
>>42581554>its so common that i cant even name any guns that fire it>please find evidence for my claim for me
>>42579561you fucking moron
>>42579550When SHTF Mark iv will be my go to weapon. Easily concealable in a backpack or bugout bag, perfect for small game like rabbits, squirrell and goose, even small deer with good placement, cheap lightweight ammo, and quiet so as not to attract unwanted attention from the zombies.
>>42582566Sorry missed "LE applications"
>>42581123>he had an NAA mini revolver hidden in his drink cup.the plot of showtime 2002
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American-180Who would win?A prison yard full of violent, hardened, rioting felonsORone spinny boi
>>42579550Didnt the US give 22s to fight off the japs?
>>42583186From experience and NOT having a gun (god I wish I did...) one spinny boi is all you need. I had to use a baton that bent on someone's knee, and a can of spicy air.
>>42581440How stealthily could you eliminate a target using a .22 cb pistol with a can?
>>42581123dont forget the dea agent who had her hair in a bun with a naa cliped inside.
>>42587710> subsonic round through a suppressorProbably only going to hear the mechanical operation of the gun
>>42579550Training; lots of training. Just as they make for good first firearms for women or kids, they're also great for training conscripts who've never touched a weapon in their lives. It saves the military/LE in question a lot of money on ammunition - when you can fire 1000 rounds of .22LR versus 1000 rounds of an intermediate or full power rifle cartridge to get acquainted with basic marksmanship, that translates to massive savings.
>>42583186Bless you, anon. Came to post this. Was worried about the absolute state of this board.
>>42587947This. Ashamed none of you faggots posted the WWII High Standard.
>>42579550.22lr is still used for teaching ROTC marksmanship, and I want to say there were kits or scaled down models to train AA defense gunners on WWII multiengine bombers.
>>42582566>zombiesI thought summer was over?
>>42587897Firing pin fall on a bolt action and a splat into a mud hole is all you hear.I have shot two integrally suppressed CZ Ticho bolt actions at a Pawn Shop near ATL when they were just finished with the Cerakote. Lucked up and happened to be there. KG Made does some nice work.
>>42585913They really should let COs carry the old fashioned hardwood straight sticks. And blows to the head allowed, god dammit! If you need to pull a baton, it's because something very bad needs to stop RIGHT the fuck now!>but the humanity of the inmateWhat about the poor inmate getting stabbed up while you wack away at his assailant with a wiffle ball bat? They don't fucking think.
>>42581123>>42582074still no need for a .22, even in that scenario. you could fit a .32acp in a drink cup. hell, even a .380
>>42581098Of all of the untrue posts, this one is most untrue
>>42582275Right. Because the assassin market is so big.
>>42588172No ROTC unit is using fucking .22 to train anyone. STFU
>>42582538>there are LE applications for .22lr though, particularly suppressed.there is nothing a suppressed .22lr can do that a centerfire pistol cartridge can't do better.hell, this is an intermediate cartridge and you'd probably need a meter to tell you it was louder than a supressed .22lr pistol.
>>42591238maybey he means JROTC. that or Boy Souts. kind of the same thing but with drilling
>>42581045With subsonics and a suppressor I'd go as far as to say it would be impossible to pinpoint, at least from the ground. Perfect for yeeting people with bodyguards.
>>42591394300 BLK would be the same with better terminal effects. Subsonic range is limited to around 400 yards because of ridiculous amounts of bullet drop. You need a scope with 100 MOA of elevation adjustment at a minimum and extremely accurate range estimates for first round hits on a 5 inch target area. MOA accuracy is possible at 400 with subsonic, on a non moving target.
>>42592777Wouldn’t 500 Phantom be better?
>>42581554check out this retard
>>42592777300blk is weaker than 7.62x39mm.
>>42595370Not by a huge amount, but not like it doesn't contribute to smaller and lighter cartridges with less recoil (if also by a small amount).
>>42592777A subsonic .30 cal is still louder than a suppressed .22 with a much lighter bullet and powder charge. Sub .22 with a can out of a bolt action is quieter than a BB gun
>>42595370>footpoundsNot the whole story.
>>42585896We gave Eskimos M1s and .22 pistols, the pistosl for huntng game to keep them alive on extended recon stuff and the M1s for fighting.
>>42579561"MOCK executions!?!?""I thought you said MACH executions!!"
>>42579669that's retarded because right now air rifles exist that can push .50 projectiles outside of 1000fps.
>>42596691doesn't 1000fps break the sound barrier?
>>42588043How is this not the first and most best post?
>>42597372No. Not at sea level, at least.
>>42588178Not knowing that Zombies is and always be a code word.[SpoilersDontWorkOnK] It means rampaging Niggers, and always has.
