How well should the endplate (the thing that fits against the back of the lower and has a notch to keep the buffer tube from rotating) prevent rotation by itself? A buddy helped me assemble my first AR and he insisted hand tighten the castle nut was fine, but now my buffer tube rotates. The notch will ride up into the threads allowing the rotation. Will tightening my castle nut like it was supposed to be fix it or do I need to get a new endplate/buffer tube?
>>
OH WOW IT IS MY TIME TO SHINE.
>>
>>42578558
You’re supposed to tighten the castle nut to a certain torque spec and then stake it. The buffer tube is not supposed to rotate whatsoever.

My BCM lower will be arriving on Monday.

Going to be pairing it with this upper:
https://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-BFH-16-Mid-Length-Light-Weight-MCMR-p/bcm-urg-mid-16-bfh-elw-mcmr-15.htm

Are there any other accessories you guys recommend I pick up from BCM to throw in with the order? I see lots of people running a front grip
>>
>>42579603
Did you already order the upper?
Should consider a 14.5 if not. Grab a pack or two of the rail covers because hot. You can run the vfg if you want but that's up to you. Personally I don't like it much but I run shorter rails so it just gets in the way and gets annoying. On a longboi you might like it. Plus it's only like $20.

>>42579678
Yeah Perst 3 is good to go. Get a folding front iron. Ambi selector too.
>>
>>42579702
Its lighter, and handier. Pinning and welding isn't that big of a deal because you shouldn't need to change your muzzle unless you get a can, and that isn't hard for any competent gunsmith to do.
It's just handier than a 16. And it's a good all purpose barrel length, you can room clear with it relatively easily with training and get that extra oomf of velocity for when you need to reach out and touch someone.

Great composition. Really dig the picture. That is your 300blk right?
IMO get rid of the Strike Industries dust cover. I like it otherwise. I'm thinking about trying an RMR piggybacked on the acog on my 14.5" as opposed to the offset T2. I'm just using the .30 cal factory end cap for now. A .22 caliber FH end cap is likely in the future.

>>42579856
I've got mine almost entirely for the "gun collector" aspect. They're wholly inferior.

>>42579889
IF you've got a suppressor already in mind, just have them roll the A2 on there non pinned and have a local gun smith pin and weld your suppressor specific muzzle device. If you don't have a suppressor in mind, but do have a particular muzzle device in mind, then do the same. If neither of those applies to you, just go with the A2X. It'll will act as a reasonable compensator and decent flash hider.
People forget that the A2 FH is actually a pretty good muzzle device.

I have about a dozen ban era Colt barrels of various lengths I want to sell. Most are 16”, some are 20”, all are heavy barrel with no threaded muzzles. What’s a realistic asking price for them on Arfcom, and do you think any of them will even sell? Who will willingly buy a ban era barrel? I got them all at a flea market for a stupid price so I’ll make something on them regardless but is it even going to be worth my time listing them if nobody is going to want any?

This is the best. Hands down. The mid 16 has an a2 fsp, this has a low profile gas block. If you feel you must get a 16, you're free to do what you want, but you should definitely consider a 14.5.

BCM makes great bolt carriers. That being said you don't need one of their BCGs to have a good gun. You can get a quality BCG from toolcraft for 60-80 dollars.

Pros are fine. I personally prefer my EOTech over them though because I like the clarity. But the pro is a perfectly good optic.
However, with your build I would recommend waiting, and saving enough for an aimpoint T2. Or even a T1. The T2 is a phenomenal optic and you will literally never feel like you made a bad choice with it.

>shits and giggles
Eh. Fucking loud. IMO if you're going to get an AK these days just hunt around for a used WASR at a pawn shop or LGS, try to snag it for a good deal (less than $650?) then throw some nice wood on it or something. Alternatively have a builder build you up a Romanian kit and be out the door for around $950 or so perhaps?
Just get a simple classic AKM imo, then leave it at that.

>>42580482
>everyone here is a poor fag
Except tons of people here with KAC and LMT and 5 figures in AR collections dislike DD because they're overpriced and bring nothing novel to the table?

>>42580615
Accuwedge and realize it doesn't really matter.

>>42580632
You won't regret it, except IMO skip their BCG and CH. Just get a Radian ambi handle and a toolcraft BCG and save yourself some money.

>>42580676
>>42580989
Rosco barrels are fine quality wise, but they've got no modern profiles or anything and afaik don't even offer CHF CL barrels. Skip IMO. You can do better with BCM BFH CHF ELW or DD LW CHF.
>Quad rail
BCM MCMR or just do a clone and use a DD rail.

>>42580751
For your 14.5" an Acog with a red dot would be cool, or a T2 and an Eotech G33 on a Unity FAST setup.

>>42580801
PRO is fine but if you buy one make sure to get it used. There are a TON of used ones on the market. Also bear in mind that the PRO is getting kind of long in the tooth these days. You're likely better served by a micro red dot.

This is simply not true. Holosun's are rather durable for their pricepoint.
>>
>>42581050

I don't plan on shooting it often, because I hate them. So that in mind there's something about a krink that tickles my pickle. I'd enjoy having one of those for collective purposes.

Holy shit thanks. That T2 looks great. So with all that out of the way. What should I get for a forward grip?
>>
>>42581074
The T2 is phenomenal. If you want gucci you can get a comp m5, but honestly the T2 is perfect. Save up, and hell try to buy one from the arfcom EE. You can usually find them with decent mounts for ~$600. If you absolutely want to buy new get it from Larue because its probably the best price for it and a quality mount.
I fucking hate grips on my guns. That said, I run shorter shit usually so it just gets in the way.
Just get the buffoni stubby vert grip and angle it forwards to use as a hand stop. Thats what 99% of people do. If you don't like it you can try out the bcm kag. If you dont like that either, just run it naked.

You are implying here. I never said they weren't durable, but they certainly aren't as durable as an Aimpoint or even Trijicon. You even have to buy a new mount for them for christs sakes.

>Also bear in mind that the PRO is getting kind of long in the tooth these days.

What does this even mean? Is your 50-60 year old AR design long in the tooth?

>Just get a Radian ambi handle and a toolcraft BCG and save yourself some money.

The charging handle in that picture is ambi and cheaper than the raptor. Stop giving shitty advice.

I'm sure you're going to ask so I'm just going to throw it out there.
For lights, just get the M600Df from arisaka with the inline mount and be done with it. Get a switch if you want, momentary on is fine.
For slings, vickers padded is 110% comfy. Just be sure to get some good qd sling mounts like magpul. For irons, magpul pros. Again, EE they can be had for cheap. I like the CTR, but some prefer the sopmod stock so thats your call. beyond that, spend your money on ammo and training. Don't forget gear.

Eh. So off of LaRue the 660 and T2 combo is $775
Off of Scalarworks the Leap Micro and T2 combo is $799
Difference is the Scalarworks mount is 1.6oz vs 2.8oz, comes in 1.93" height (which you might consider), and actually clamps the rail in a traditional pic rail clamp way as opposed to the wedge mechanism LaRue uses. Don't get me wrong the LaRue is fine, but the Scalarworks might be better.

If this is for your 14.5" though skip all of that and go Unity FAST setup with a G33 magnifier. Also just buy your T2 used from Tacswap or AR15com as you'll save a good bit of money and used Aimpoints are good to go.

Stubby BCM vertical grip is a good call.

>>42581069
Collecting is never ending, but IMO if you're starting your AK collection, just start with a standard AKM, the kind normies will recognize. Just my 0.02
If I'm going to ever do another AK build or buy one it will be a plain steel wood AKM.

You have to replace the mount on a Holosun out of the box. Thats an issue right there. I was also talking about the PRO not the T2.

>Heavy, poor battery life, large foot print, coarse brightness adjustment compared to Holosun.

Its not that heavy, and for the weight you get a rugged and easy to use and maintain optic with better field of view.

The Pro has 4 years of battery life, but no one even pushes them that far anyway so what the fuck is your complaint?

"LArge FOot PRiNt" who gives a fuck? I know you are a tripfag but how much shit do you need to put on your rifle anyway?

The brightness is the stupidest most contrived argument I have ever seen.

>Not that heavy
Bare PRO no mount is 7.5oz
Factory mount depending on height is 4-6oz
Bare micro red dot, even Holosun is like 3.5oz
Mount is 1.6-3oz
PRO is twice the cost and more than twice the weight.

Bhahaha do you even shoot? I wouldn't use a PRO on a "night" SBR nor would i use some chinesium red dot due to parallax issues. You only need a white light and a DBAL any way how does that interfere with a fucking PRO?

>Bhahaha do you even shoot? Having a fine brightness adjustment is ABSOLUTELY necessary for optimizing apparent dot size in a variety of lighting conditions. You want the dot just bright enough to see in your conditions. Fine adjustment allows for that. This is also important for making precise shots at distance.

It was never a problem in the academy or with my MRO. Maybe you just suck?

people pushing the 14.5 lately

>have to rely on gunsmith
>cant remove or replace some parts
>less velocity
>less dwell time
>frankly, a hassle all around

Fact is 16 inch mid length is the best all around setup. Imagine going to so much trouble and giving up so much just for a inch and a half off your barrel. I mean, if you have so much time and money just go lobby the government to stop cucking the 2a.

A well tuned 14.5 inch gun has better gas than a 16 inch mid length.

Did you think that 14.5 inch forces you into Carbine length gas?

Eotechs don't break, they just have low battery life. Thats the price to pay for superior reticle and field of view along with true parallax free.

I am talking about standard red dots too. I have an MRO and with lower 1/3 cowitness I can barely get a good sight picture.

Eotechs don’t break. They’re every bit as durable as aimpoints. The battery life is the only true issue with it, apart from the size. Aimpoints are simple, Eotechs are a little more complex. Both are great options.
>>
>>42582894
Eotechs are significantly more fragile than an aimpoint

What's the deal with Primary Arms? has anyone proven they are bad or good red dots?

>>

I know it’s hard to understand how this works when your IQ is barely above room temperature, but the wealthiest and most powerful military on earth isn’t giving out contracts for garbage. But you go ahead and tell yourself whatever you need to.

Like I’ve said before, we learned a lot of shit really fast in Iraq. Mainly, that you can’t expect to be able to leave guns sitting around for years and then have them function flawlessly in a fucking desert. The initial complaints about military equipment being awful stems from the early M4’s and M9’s being old and abused.
Modern US military equipment is top notch. Even the marines have better shit these days, or they did before they replaced their m4’s with fucking hk guns.

What's the lightest single stage trigger I can get on the market?

Finance it if you can shit. Most places will let you do a zero down, zero apr if you can pay it off in 12 months. Which is a sweet deal. I paid about $3900, it’s a bitch but when you go from glasses for 20ish years to just being able to see, it’s a great feeling.

I might as well take advantage of it by stuffing all the money I can into an etf/index fund and get eye surgery, my dude.
>Downside is that I can't buy pistols or stripped AR lowers because under 21
>>
>>42583482
What the fuck are you talking about can’t buy stripped lowers? When did this become a rule?
>>
>>42582830
no I don't, but a 16 incher has a perfect amount of dwell time for the ar platform according to the fact that the original design had a 20 incher with rifle length, which has just a bit more dwell time than 16 inch mid, meaning 14.5 with mid is not enough for top tier reliability, although it still works well.
>>
>>42583512
Stripped lowers do not have a barrel and thus are not classified as long guns yet. Under ATF rules anyone under 21 cannot buy any gun but a long gun. A stripped lower counts as "other".
>>
>>42583482
>I might as well take advantage of it by stuffing all the money I can into an etf/index fund and get eye surgery, my dude.
You should definitely not get vision correction until you're in your mid to late 20's.

>>
>>42583632
Wait until you’re 20-21 at least. Your eyes are usually done being gay by then.
It will not last forever. Because as you age they will get worse. Obviously. But waiting until you’re 27 is retarded because you’re missing out on 7 good years. You’re going to need glasses by the time you hit 50-60 most likely, but fun fact, most people do.
>>
>>42583664
Thanks anons. I'll put my money I was gonna put into an AR into savings for LASIK or PRK when I'm 21-22. In the meantime I still need something to hunt with, but I'll go for a cheap bolty instead.
