Moderate Al Qaeda post spoils of war from battle with Syrian Government in Latakia
>>
how much longer until they run out soviet era weapons?
>>
>>
>>42018084
never and even if they do there’s no shortage of West-supplied weapons in these countries
>>
>>42018082
>"Moderate Al Qaeda"
Why am I seeing this absurd term so often these days?
>>
dead taliban
>>
>>42018084
Considering that soviet gear was produced by the milions and that ww1 and ww2 weapons are still found on battlefields all over the globe, not soon.
>>
>>42018084
Well what else would they use? The only way they'll get that is if a government provides it to them. In the past, governments have been content with providing rusty surplus (with the occasional new tech like stingers back in the day).
>>
>>42018090

Because US funded terrorists have a bad PR feel to it.
>>
>>42018090
im being facetious, there is actual non-state sponsored al qaeda in syria , but these guys are state sponsored al qaeda that disavowed the central leadership, so “moderate al qaeda” à la «moderate rebel”
>>
>>42018090
Because the US funded “moderates” who ended up joining ISIS under the previous administration.

>>

they already basically have since last year, the whole Doha negotiations is based around getting the Taliban to fight IS. US have given taliban free reign in certain areas in return for them attacking IS
>>
>>42018164
This this is true. However, it does not change the fact the Obama administrations approach to the Middle East was dumb and arrogant. We have little idea about who is who, contacts looking for gibs, and gullible cia agents thinking people in that region of the world play by the same rules as Latin America.

So, now we have a bunch of American equipment and in the hands of people who want nothing less but to dick us over in any possible way, while trying to pull a Libya. It makes zero sense in hindsight and made zero sense then as well. >>42018164

>>42018476
It makes sense given one thing, after Obama assassinated Osama he became extremely arrogant, in the environment of the “arab spring” Obama legitimately convinced himself that Al Qaeda was truly defeated and that the days of radical islam were over. When he armed the syrian rebels willy nilly he legitimately thought that the Islamic State of Iraq was defeated. And i quote:
>It’s harder to end a war than begin one. Indeed, everything that American troops have done in Iraq -– all the fighting and all the dying, the bleeding and the building, and the training and the partnering -– all of it has led to this moment of success. Now, Iraq is not a perfect place. It has many challenges ahead. But we’re leaving behind a sovereign, stable and self-reliant Iraq, with a representative government that was elected by its people. We’re building a new partnership between our nations. And we are ending a war not with a final battle, but with a final march toward home.
https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/the-press-office/2011/12/14/remarks-president-and-first-lady-end-war-iraq

And i quote,2 years later:
>JV team

Obama and co werent some machievellian geniuses conspring with israel to create IS. They were just delusional retards

>how much longer until they run out soviet era weapons?
The US supplies them all with Romanian clones of old soviet weapons apparently. The US buys masses of weapons via former soviet eastern european states via shell corps according to a detailed report I read recently.

>>42018926
>the wasrs and Romy surplus runs out in 2027

canonical aq is actually a literal hostage of the taliban(the pakistani ISI wing), but strictly speaking IS is indeed the true spiritual successor of OBL’s AQ

more likely that obama just used the assassination of bin laden as the lynchpin of the PR campaign he used to justify getting out of iraq before we were done with our work there. i will never agree with the decision to pull out with the timing he did, but it would be disingenuous to call it retarded. obama, for all his warts, was not a retard. he was a smart guy who had an ideology which led him to making that extremely poor decision.

smart people can have really fucking stupid beliefs. if you're smart enough, you start believing your own bullshit because you have the ability to rationalize it so impeccably. it's a character flaw more than one of intellect.
