Just bought pic related a few days ago and I just read up about "barrel cants" in S&W gats. I finished measuring with calipers and a ruler just now, and found out it has about a 0.60mm/0.23in cant to the left.
What do bois? Is this o/k/ay or a problem?

Anybody here capable of answering the OP?
>>
Is it within specifications?
If so leave it alone
Does it shoot straight?
If so leave it alone
Is the barrel loose?
If not leave it alone

Ah, I see the mistake I made. You're right, I meant to say 0.023. You're still a fag though.

What's considered in spec for s&w?
>>
>>42012169
Have you called Smith yet? If not, why are you wasting your time here?
>>
>>42012190
Why should I have to call them? Isn't there a clear number or something to what's considered in spec? Besides I'd only just y-you too over the phone...

If there is do you think the retards here know it? Smith is the ones who know.

Anyway, IMO, it's real fucking simple:
-does it shoot OK? If yes, don't worry about it. If no, contact S&W.

You're probably fine. If it bothers you, you can send it back to them and they'll crack your barrel off and replace it.

>>42012047
>>42012111
It's not just an issue with the newest ones. I have a 1988 S&W 19-6 that is canted about 1 degree to the left. It's an issue that can happen to all revolvers that have press fit barrels.

>implying I was having a problem
I merely was reacting to shit I read on the internet, and that's making me paranoid to the extent that I'm asking if any other anons have a slight cant that can literally only be measured with instruments. I took it out today and fired a few hundred rounds of 38/357 and it works. Now that I'm being told that it's not a huge deal I feel a little better. That is all.

People that ask reasonable questions in a subject focused forum regarding the subject the forum is focused on make me so angry >:(

I know. The only reason I keep it is that it has a comfy grip and the best trigger of any gun I own. Got it for 650 too so I could probably sell it to some boomer if I wanted to make some money.

Contact Smith and Wesson.
>>
>>42011757
.23 would be a big fucking deal. As far as .023...
>>42012190
>>
>>42012292
That game was so fucking fun.
>>
>>42012376
nah man, it's super-fucked. the specification allows for no more than 0.010 inches in any direction. You're gonna have to send it in for repair. Depending on if the issue is with the barrel or the frame threading, they'll replace one of those two parts. Don't try to take it apart yourself and shim the barrel to counteract the cant, unless you want to see what it looks like when the barrel gets blown off.
