and here are two 1944 dot rifles with different color and grain patterns:
http://www.latewar.com/html/dot_rifle2.html
http://www.latewar.com/html/dot_rifle1.html

it would be more convincing to find an israeli k98k stock that matches mine (and is more clearly israeli). plus mine has no import stamp either, so i don't think the vet bring back thing is convincing me.
also, that bcd4 is a different manufacturer and era of stock

be specific about why the grain and finish makes you think israeli, if you aren't just trolling, i'm interested

Byf and dou were the markings for the factories they came from. The double digit number is the year. The longer number the serial.

Unfortunately the meanings of these little markings has been lost to time. Aside from really distinctive subcontractor markings (like the Gew.98 receivers made by Anciens Etablissements Pieper with the "Bayard" trade logo on the underside of the receiver ring) we don't have much to identify them. Ones with lots of Imperial-era crown-over-Fraktur-letter proofs can be assumed to be ex-Gew.98 receivers.

VG – Excellent you're looking at $1000 minimum on the open market, unless you are very very lucky and patient. While they don't command similar prices to Kar.98k in equivalent condition (no Wehraboo tax) they are quite a bit rarer and thus still expensive.

Yes, I know it's "mutilated" or whatever word the historical purity autists are shouting these days.

Still, it's a fun rifle. Nice enough that I kept this over my 1903A3 and 91/30 when I decided having multiple obsolete military bolt actions was pointless.

That, my friend, is either a genuine Brazilian army or police surplus M968 "Mosquefal" ("Mosquetoon" + "FAL") rifle, which means a Mauser 08 or 24 rechambered for 7.62 Nato with FAL flash hider and G3 sights (because lol Imbel), OR it might be a high quality fake/repro of that. I consider both of those equally likely, and honestly, I don't care, because she shoots just fine.

Anyone know the best place to get a new stock for one of these? Some asshole cut the front end on mine down

I wouldn't say "butchered", its purpose-built by a quality company (well sort of) either way.

Still got some love for her. Also bought her a better wood stock. I think she was a spanish mauser before the refurb

PM flynaked on the k98k forum.
He can repair the original. He also has a huge stash of stock stuff.
The guy is fucking amazing. I've seen some of the work he's done, and it's the best.
He's also not a jew shyster.

8x50mmR is the original caliber, when they were converted the chambers were expanded to hold 8x56r. If an 8x56r won't chamber, most likely it is 8x50mm. Strangely enough 8x50mm is mostly popular in India these days.

The FedOrd rifles were usually Spanish M1943s or Chinese Type-24s; but FedOrd wasn't picky where their parts came from.

oh yeah I got those exact same ones too. So maybe my rifle was manufactured by the Czecks for the Brasilians in the '00s or in the '20s, OR whoever made this clone went so far as to get the "real" source Mauser for the repro.

I don't even know what to believe anymoer

Going by >>40559174 and looking up the vz. 24 on wikipedia its says 15,000 were sent to Brazil in 1932. I've also seen a few websites that say they're police issue. Thats all I know.
