I want one of these in .45-70. Is it possible to fit .45-70 in an AR-10, or is the rim just too big?

.458 SOCOM is literally .45-70 shrunk to work better in an AR, why not use that?

Because it's not fuddy enough for such an awesome wooden durr rifle. I suppose I'd probably have to make do with 30-06.

Oh wait, do these things use a custom upper receiver as well? I guess anything longer than .223 isn't an option then, if it's not just a matter of modifying the magwell.

Vertical pistol grips are a massive improvement in comfort and ergonomics. Something like this is as far as I'd go. Their comfort is exactly why dems want them gone - it makes the rifles less desirable because they are more awkward to handle.
>>
>>39930850
30 rounders are way better for prone than shorties because they also act as monopods.

TFW the color of your wood pistol grip doesn't look anything like the one shown on the website...
I didn't even want it to be perfect, just similar to the foregrip. But this....
>>
>>39943255
I like the bayonet but not the solid front sight post
>>
>>39941454

Not bad.

For the but-stock I had to increase the diameter of the center hole. Also had to slim down the part of the stock that fits inside the back of the receiver. Used a 3/4" section of pipe as a spacer inside the stock.

For the front handguard I just trimmed down an 1100 front stock. The inner diameter (after some sanding and shaping) matches the outer diameter of the mlok rail almost perfectly.
>>
I want to, but I'd have to make my own front handguard setup

This happened lots when the navy was trying to use chamber inserts in their Garands after the switch to 7.62x51. The inserts weren't very reliable and would stick to a case, eject after a number of rounds, and you'd end up with brass like that until it got caught.
>>
>>39939551
Where can you get those?
>>
>>39930006
The AR is a pretty trash looking gun compared to most guns, I mean if you look at it with a good knowledge of historical weapons. All kind of highly aesthetic rifles existed then BAM here's this ugly black plastic one with odd looking features. This configuration makes it look pretty damn decent though.

A local fudd in my area fired like 150 rounds of .308 out of his .30-06 Mauser 98.
The rifle suffered no issues except for sometimes missfeeding the shorter cartridges.
I suspect that the massive claw extractor on the Mauser 98 held the cartridge solidly against the bolt face and therefore maintained decent headspacing.

The dumbass fudd didn't even realize it was dangerous until he tried to buy more "short .30-06" ammo and the store clerk told him he was a massive idiot.
>>
>>39933400
I’ve done it... it won’t kill you...
>>
>>39948974
would that really be super dangerous? I feel like .308 in a 30-06 chamber would lead to some really low chamber pressures.

>>
>>39948992
The chamber pressure isn't the dangerous part. Wildly varying headspace is the dangerous part.

You can get like 2mm excessive headspace which is massively oversized.
It will lead to catastrophic case head separation or kaboom your entire rifle.
>>
>>39947358
>I was taught this can cause malfunctions to occur
Fuddlore. You absolutely should use your mag as a monopod. It's the easiest and most effective way to stabilize your rifle.
>>
>>39947728
>Nice!
>>
>>39949115
It seems to be literal fuddlore, only caused problems with gen1 mags from the 60s/70s. Instructors would bitch us out so that's why I didn't do it. The only downside could be potentially upsetting your zero at ranges outside of 350m or changing your stance or head placement if you're running a plate carrier. Going to use my mag for stability in the future.

That's retarded. They'd bitch at us to do it properly if someone failed to and reiterated how important it is for accurate fire, but then again I'm Finnish.
>>
>>39949198
>>39949186

I did it all the time in the Marine Corps when I did have my grippod on. No issues with accuracy from me.
>>
>>39943255
It's a rifle from some kind of alternate reality.
