First for hashimoto
can anyone recommend some good taiga dramas, I have seen Yae no Sakura and Atsuhime.
Stop watching manga adaptations
>>22164290Thank you, Mr. Kitano.
It's been a great 6 months with Hirose Suzu. Looking forward to the next 6 months with Toda Erika.
>>22132631finished it. thanks for the rec anon.now it just makes me want to watch more young adult male x adult female pairing. S1 Anata no Ban and this one, what else are there with these kind of pairings? the plot could be anything honestly. thanks /jaypee teevee/
>>22164795Kimi was Petto. There are two versions but I haven't seen the newer one.
>>22166943I don't understand how the girls on twitter and reddit can find that autistic retard cute even after all this.
>>22167005he is super dumb
Why japanese movies suck so much?
The fall dramas season will kick off in 2 days, did you pick anything? Rika seems like the most interesting one this season.
>>22169294Already watching the new asadora Scarlet. Will be watching the following for now.Doctor XKodoku No GourmetMada Kekkon Dekinai OtokoGrand Maison TokyoDouki no SakuraCheat Sagishi no MinasanChou no RikigakuAi Naki Mori de Sakebi

>>22169294I will probably try checking out: Time Limit InvestigatorGrand Maison TokyoG Senjou no Anata to WatashiOre no Hanashi wa NagaiIt depends though if 2 or 3 episodes will get me interested.
>>22170229That’s the wall, brother.
Tonde Saitama was ridiculous but damn was it entertaining.
>>22170579looks like a shitty suicide club ripoff.
>>22169294As an EOP, I can't pick in case they don't get subbed (happens every season), so whatever hpriestsubs or similar reliable fansubbers with steady releases pick, as long as their pick isn't a drama with shitty cast like Honda Tsubasa's drama or a generic Kimotako drama like his drama this season. But I do pray for someone to pick any of the following>Nippon Noir>Rika>Mada Kekkon Dekinai Otoko>Jikou Keisatsu Hajimemashite (as long as they sub the latest SP first)
>>22171070is a manga adaptation
>>22171807looks like an "as the gods will" ripoff.
Any good non-obvious horror movie recommendations? I've watched all the big ones that got international fame and circulation. Just generally unsettling movies that aren't necessarily horror are good too (like a crime drama or something).
>>22163434hey, /jp/, I wanna watch some travel shows with hosts going to small towns around Japan and finding something cool there. recommend me something.

>>22172542Good manga. Good anime. Good live action. Nice.
Anyone looking forward to Shiyakusho? Coming within 2 weeks or so.
>>22175610I have its first 3 manga volumes so I'll read it before I decide watching it or not but it does look interesting.

>>22179891>Kimutaku's dramaI understand everyone is hyped, will watch it and it will bring in the high ratings because it's a Kimutaku drama but I've had enough of Kimutaku's one dimensional roles, it's exactly like his every other drama from a decade+.

>>22181213>Many people around Rika (Saki Takaoka) disappear. What she says is all lies, including her career, age and address. She is starved for a family’s love. If Rika meets a man of fate, she only cares about that man. She will stalk that man like an obsession. Anyone who gets in her way to marrying that man will become her enemy.Looks like an interesting dark comedy.
>>22163434i've just started watching terrace house. i like it a lot so far but something that is especially standing out to me is the soundtrack>radiohead>velvet underground>smashing pumpkins>the strokesand that's just in the first handful of episodes, not even counting the taylor swift and snow patrol op/eds. whoever they got to curate the music is a total pro.
>>22181213I was gonna watch Grand Maison Tokyo but this should be my pick for this season

>>22169294Watching Cheat, Shinmai Shimai no Futari Gohan and Ore no Hanashi wa Nagai. For non-drama I'm also watching a bunch of anime and continuing Keyakitte, Kakenai and Nogizaka Under Construction.
>>22169294Nothing has caught my interest yet and that includes Korea/China/West/Anime.
>>22181711I already heard it's comfier and better than American reality TV, but there's a /mu/-core soundtrack too? Picked up.
>>22189852it's basically what american shows like bad girls club/jersey shore would be if they weren't scripted by 16 year olds to appeal to 16 year old and 20 year olds that are mentally 16.The drama between Haruka and Risako was 100% real and unscripted and you could see it forming in a totally organic way throughout the episodes.
>>22187727Shit what the fuck.I didn't try the translated name. Thanks man.
Someone redpill me on Arimura Kasumi.
>>22189852Only the original series Boys And Girls Next Door has those big name American/British alternative rock music tunes. The rest have some notable indie artists from time to time but it's more deep cuts than anything instantly recognizable to the average person. And every series after that has a Japanese netflix soundtrack version vs an international soundtrack version due to copyright. If you wanna try the series out I urge you to get the Japanese version via Japanese netflix or episode rips pulled from there; original Japanese track pics always fit better.

The mini-series was more entertaining. The movie reused a lot of footage from the tv show too, so it feels like watching a short 60 min movie. Also, it has Ren Osugi's final appearance in a movie.
>>22193402Hatachi ko koibito
>>22193563Baasan makes anything watchable Not actuallybut she cute
Seto deserves a harem end.
So I got shitfaced and saw Tokyo Ghoul S at the theater a couple of weeks ago. Or I got shitfaced after seeing it. I can't remember.
>>22205982The anime and manga are horrible enough, what made you watch the live action?
>>22206208Shitfaced. It was really, really gay.
>>22193563I watched dramas for the qt.
>>22205095>>22206232I wouldn't miss a Bassaa appearance in any variety show, but that doesn't apply to her dramas. 6 years in and her acting has yet to improve much. But to be fair in CHEAT's case, it's the whole cast and not just her in particular, especially the male actors. The absolute state of this casting.
>>22206310Since most dramas are tailored made specifically for the lead actor. Having good plot and casts are usually of secondary concern or a bonus.Just enjoy her role this time as a struggling kuso idol who is also a master swindler.
i'm thinking of leaving terrace house
>>22198431What's the point of Kitarie being in the show? She is not allowed to date at that time and she barely interacts with the others because of her busy schedule. Even when she does, it is rather superficial. Is it just for publicity (of both the show and herself)?
>>22206556>Having good plot and casts are usually of secondary concern or a bonus.Which is why I stopped picking my dramas based on cute leads and only pick dramas with good actors, good writers or good directors. I made a mistake last year and picked a drama with a cute lead, something I stopped doing nearly a decade ago, and I regretted the 2 months I kept forcing myself to watch it.
Why do you watch j drama or movies?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uogUiYqwFdEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWHY IS YOUNG GAKKI SO CUTE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I started watching this show, and the first episode is already about an 8th grader having sexual relations with a 4th grader. Also, the lead/teacher is starting to develop ephebophilic attraction to one of his students. The soft light filter on the show makes it look like I am watching a movie; pretty cool and amusing.
>>22207558Episode 2 comes and it's now just about some kid's lunchtime problem. lol>>22207398It's cute how she loses her composure during the skit.
>>22207398My middle school crush. 15 years later she's still my favorite.
>>22207558This was a fun watch and I wanted more when I finished the series.>>22207579Where's the gif from?
>>22207609>Where's the gif from?Legal High.
>>22189875Not a single bit of it is organic. It's almost entirely scripted. It's just scripted in a way to make you think it's organic, but it's not.
Anyone here watch older stuff?
what films am i missing?
>>22208451Tons of actual quality movies,
>>22208443isn't this movie like 9 hours long?
>>22208491It's more like a trilogy of movies that are each three hours long. Although they aren't self-contained and there's basically no filler through all of it. I'd recommend doing what I did and watching it over the course of a weekend, spending one night on each part.
>>22208451the only good ones in there are Battle Royale and Love Exposure. As for what you are missing, all of the Kurosawa and Ozu films, Audition, Love&Pop, Tampopo, Yakuza Papers series, Human Condition, Still Walking, United Red Army, and Harakiri.
>>22208443/tv/ is a better place for that
>>22208751those are like japanese movies that boomers watchi like audition but it's not better than lesson of the evil or blade of the immortal in my opinion. it's one of miike's most overrated films. it's pretty boring until you get to the end with the woman amputating that guy's body parts.
>>22208751i thought still walking was boring. i think ended up dropping it 20 minutes inoutside kekkon dekinai otoko i think hiroshi abe films or tv series are pretty boring. people are probably gonna hate me for saying this
>>22209732was it? i haven't seen that one. the ones i have seen have been pretty boring which is why i kind of avoid films starring abe

>>22208954I've made threads on /tv/ about Japanese cinema in the past and they've all died without any discussion. I feel like there's more interest here.
>>22211185People who want to discuss older cinema usually want serious discussion, which is something a bunch of neets that obsess over tv and movies made for teenage girls and housewives won't give you. There much better sites and avenues for what you're looking for.
I laughed so much in this scene. Tsuchiya Tao is getting herself a reverse harem.>>22207609Should I watch the movie after this?>>22210009I assume this would happen because he's still presented as good person.>>22211185I've seen a quite a handful of the movies /tv/ would recommend but I would rather talk about my interest in tv shows here. Though some anons may want to discuss old movies here.
>>22211451>Should I watch the movie after this?Of course.
Why are there so few pure love dramas like this?
>>22213506>Pure loveHopefully they will stay so few.
Are there any archives for older shows? Trying to look for one I halfway remember from 2001.I just remember that it was a variety/talkshow that had musical guests, and the pastebin gives me nothing
>2 weeks without Suiyoubi
It was a great interesting ending. Most dialogue heavy finale as far as I can remember. Sad there is no 2nd season, and I thought there would be an episode about the seemingly lesbian girls.

I haven't really been keeping up at all with new releases since I rarely find something that scratches that itch of the old 90's / early 00's romance drama. There's just something comfy about watching Orange Days, Last Christmas, Love Generation, Tokyo Love Story, Long Vacation, Pride and so on... Is there anything that might fit that bill that was released in the last 3-4 years?

>>22213506Predictable plot but hit me in the feels.Good acting and high production values. Recomnended.
>>22224018That music video is so 90s.
>>22227216I've tried these but I never reach ep 2. At first I thought it was the dated visuals but then I remembered that I watch even older movies just fine.
Oh, I thought this was going to actually be a good thread. Its actual just a bunch of women from reddit talking about their crushes. Anybody watch Godspeed You! Black emperor. I just saw it myself and enjoyed it a lot.
Finally got around to finishing this. Why did they shove in a corporate conspiracy at the final 1/3 of the series? Sure, it's an Ikeido Jun story but that doesn't mean all of his stories have to be just like Hanzawa Naoki. The whole time it just felt like I was watching a lesser version of it. It's not like it was awful since it was still written well enough to be interesting but it felt so out of place in contrast with the inspirational sports drama and motivational soundtrack being re-used for the "corporate thriller" scenes. I get that it still ties in somewhat, with depicting the divide of salarymen who follow their dreams and those who go up the corporate ladder for money and stability. But at that point in the story I really just wanted to watch the Astros play their final games. I also get that the writer specializes in salaryman wish fulfillment but shoving it into this didn't work even though it tied in well in Hanzawa Naoki. This is my 4th adaptation I've seen from this guy; Tetsu no Hone being great, Hanzawa Naoki being amazing, and Shitamachi Rocket being crap but I guess it has its uses as wish fulfillment for small businesses so it just wasn't for me. No Side Game was good for a corporate sports drama even though it was generic at many points, I still enjoyed it.
Sion Siono's new film. It was weird and crazy. Also, it's like mix of his other works.
>>22206885maybe just to promote herself and her brand? not sure. don't know why she would leave so early if that was the case.when she goes was the funniest thing to me. she just says "alright bye" and then dips, and no one even cares that much. the camera doesn't even follow her out. meanwhile when masato goes later in the episode, it's drawn out like a funeral procession, and everybody is completely miserable.
>>22232805Can't say it was a success for her considering the number of dislikes on her youtube video announcing her participation in terrace house and her huge drop in election rank the following year
Cutie food drama this season.
>>22236214How is this show? The synopsis makes it uninteresting to me.
>>22236046Never expected a dengeki daioh manga to get a live action drama. Sure at least one dengeki novel got a live action film with boogiepop, and a SAO western live action drama was planned, but Dengeki stuff always felt like it'd be hard to translate to mediums other than anime or games.
>>22236269Start with a time skip where mc is dying in the present... Seems like the usual character making trouble but somehow things turning for the better staple drama. This is probably the third time the actress is cast as a stoic emotionless character again which should be her forte by now.It also have the same director and scriptwriter of her previous drama kahogo no kahoko. Also hashimoto ai is in it as well.>>22236444Food theme genre is easier to do I guess. They been adapting quite a few in recent years, like the gay couple and the guy's dorm ones.
>>22236713Thanks. Takahata was amazing as Kahoko. Gonna give it a try then.
>>22208443i like watching older stuff. i just finished an early kiyoshi kurosawa film called 'the exitement of the do re mi fa girl'. it's a pink film (did japan make anything else in the 80s) set on a university campus that riffs on new wave and ero films. it follows a girl travelling from the country to a tokyo university looking for her childhood sweetheart. there's characters who stare into the camera and give dead pan monologues on love (mostly nonsense, and resembling the political asides in godard films). there's a song and dance number. you have a charlatan professor giving bunk psychology theories that act as a pretence for students to get naked. overall i thought it was quite good fun. i'm a sion sono fan, so i'll probably end up watching this next >>22232113
>>22239743Looks interesting, I'll give this a try.
>>22163870Ugly nose.I don't frequent /jp/ but I think I'll make an effort to frequent this thread.>>22208443>Anyone here watch older stuff?Me.I try to watch older stuff whenever possible, and recently I'm always thinking: why are the 80's almost always so "aesthetic"? There's something with the visuals that I can't pinpoint what exactly is.Last one I watched yesterday was "Bu Su".>>22239743>'the excitement of the do re mi fa girl'This film was wild. I disliked those perverts like the professor, but it was enjoyable. Also, see the fluff? It's a tragedy that we don't see fluff hair like this anymore.
>>22213506>>22228802>Is this incest?Lesbians.I remember when this came out, it was like the first to show the two girls actually kissing on screen. But it was bad and cringe. There are many things that I'd like to comment but it can wait.I'll go watch and old dorama now.

>>22242963I liked the first episode of Marigold although I probably just skip the medical scenes next time. Those are so uninteresting for me.
Anyone watched Rika here?
Is this worth watching?
Was it really necessary to make a sequel for this? I thought the original series ended in a nice way but I guess there's lots of outside reasons for it to happen. Abe Hiroshi is my favorite japanese actor so I can't help but watch it, not to mention I really enjoiyed S1. The first episode was alright, maybe too much pandering for returning viewers but the new characters and plotlines were set up well enough for me to be engaged. What stroke me as odd was how shitty the camera quality was, like they were using the same ones from the filming of S1 all those years ago. It made the show felt cheap, not like the orginal wasn't either, and I don't think people are really pining for the look of digital cameras from 2006. They also got the actor that plays Murakami to change his hair into the same way from back then, which if you don't know screams mid 00s japan. All that said, I wasn't laughing as much as when I saw the first series so I guess the writing also lacked something. But I'm still looking forward to the next episode purely out of curiosity.
best movies and shows to watch this season? or this year rather?whiling to take some classics as well, just something to kickstart my binge.
>>22247833>whiling to take some classics as wellSince it's October, here's some classic horror movies I'd recommend.>Kwaidan (1965)A collection of folktales by one of my favorite directors, Masaki Kobayashi.>Kuroneko (1968)Based on a singular folktale. Also the only black and white movie of these three.>Hausu (1977)A bizarre horror-comedy with a contemporaneous setting. It's loads of fun.
