Not him but they are called "Touhou Mother" and "Return of Touhou Mother".
Although to be frank, they aren't very good and fail pretty hard at being a good fangame of either Mother or Touhou. The humor isn't very good either and often relies on making references to other vidya franchises or 2ch memes.
If you're still interested then try the first one at least, the second game was clearly rushed, has atrocious pacing, gameplay and is a bug ridden mess.

Gensokyo no Nazo is great. Non-linear metroidvania with a ton of recruitable bosses.

Gensou Shoujo Taisen/Fantasy Maiden Wars is unarguably a god-tier Touhou fangame.

Every 2hu has at least one theme or up to five of them, lots of playable characters, great gameplay, a decent plot for a 2hu fangame, great graphics, and 100+ hours of content.

Puppet Dance Performance and Labyrinth of Touhou 2 are great, as well.
Patchcon is a really good time waster, and I mean that as a compliment.

It's pretty easily arguable it isn't.

Because the FMW Complete is coming out this summer comiket and so far its shown the devs have redone almost everything. Chances are even probably remade the first two games in the new engine as well.

Either has her replaced with Doremy or made a new one.
>>
>>21719370
Maybe? The last game actually did retroactively write Doremy into the game off screen. The Lunarians occasionally talk about knowing a certain other baku who was aware of Makura's shenanigans.

Everything will become clear in just a few weeks.

>Maybe he'd retcon the final boss as well?
I doubt that, the entire buildup from the first game to the last is written around the OC, not just being a baku.
Even if Sanbondo tries hard to stick as close to canon as possible (especially compared to other fangame circles) I doubt they'd retcon their OC just because of Doremy. And if they did, they'd also have to retcon sheephu and heaviliy alter most if not all of the final arc of the final game.
>>
>>21721435
>Sanbondo tries hard to stick as close to canon as possible (especially compared to other fangame circles)

-Sanae showing up out of nowhere
-Meiling going shopping
-gay Nitori
-on that note, iffy characterization in quite a few places
-PC-98s walking around everywhere, Yuuka in SDM
I could seriously go on, there are so many ways this statement is untrue.

I don't mind or anything, but honestly when I started going through it I quickly recognized it as one of the more fanon games I'd played. Not awful or even bad, but noticeable.

And in the future, if you have problems like this, make sure to specify what program you're using, exactly what you're doing, and exactly what the output is. It's extremely rare for someone to help you just based on you saying you've got "an error".

Also, I found a weird bug where going to Youkai Mountain early somehow put Reisen in my party at level 1. When I reached the point where I could get 7 party members (got early yukari than grabbed nitori) and deposited Reisen, she showed up at Eintei when she had been missing before. When I re recruited her, her level was added to Reimu's level, giving me a level 47 Reisen.

>>

>>
>>21779977
Off topic, but aiming for 1CC is a normal way to play a game, as intended. Speedrunning requires you to refuse to play the game and break it. It's a degenerate activity.
>>
File: Takkoman.jpg (109 KB, 1000x666)
109 KB
109 KB JPG
You already know it's fucking Takkoman
>>
>>21780093
It requires memorization of where enemies spawn, learning of the patterns and so forth. Depending on the game, it can lean heavily on requiring a lot of repetition to learn the levels as opposed to games where you don't have to do such a thing. 1CC on normal is not too bad for this, but I don't think of normal as 'playing' the game. That sounds more like getting through it to say you beat it on normal. People who 'play' the game go as far as lunatic and all that. That's a lot of doing the same thing over and over. Much like speedrunners.
>>
>>21780905
Any skill takes constant repetition to get good at. The difference between danmaku and speedrunning is that speedrunning tends to involve no applicable skill at all.
If you're good enough to 1CC SA, you can probably blind 1CC any other game on normal without practice, or most other games in the genre. If you spend months speedrunning one game, all you've developed is a list of very specific exploits that don't apply in any other context.
Some of the side games are much closer to speedrunning, since there's a lot of straight up gimmicks and specific strategies involved there.
>>
>>21770419

fuck reimu though
>>
>>21770419
Source on that? Afaik Cirno data is in the files because she was sorta kinda planned originally but got scrapped.
Also, who are you quoting?
>>
>>21781331
I think people forget how awful they were at video games when they were young. It takes a lot of repetition to get good at any genre of video games. Even jrpgs require you to have some knowledge of the genre to effectively function, though I was tossed into the deep end with final fantasy legend as my first jrpg. No one popped out of the womb good at shooters, but most people have built up the physical skill set to play them over the years. Just the same, no one is born good at shmups. Shumps require no more autism to be competent at them than any other genre does. They're just a genre with a skill set that is unique to it so nothing you've learned from other games is applicable and you have to start from square one like a 5 year old who can't beat the first level of super mario bros.
>>
>>21781331
>If you're good enough to 1CC SA, you can probably blind 1CC any other game on normal without practice
I would disagree. They would still need to practice a considerable amount. I vividly remember when I was good enough to 1CC SA. I could just barely 1CC some of the easier ones after a couple tries. The harder ones like UFO would destroy me though, often killing me by stage 3. I had no practice with this one. If they could 1CC it on Hard though, sure, they would probably be a lot better.
>Some of the side games are much closer to speedrunning, since there's a lot of straight up gimmicks and specific strategies involved there.
This is specifically the portion I'm getting at, but I think there is much more gimmick in the mainline than you are saying.
IN has a notorious amount of gimmick to it for instance. EoSD has a big RNG factor in the Remilia fight. And some require mastery of the gimmick specific to that game to do properly.

I would like to clarify that I'm not saying it takes the same amount of time as speedrunning. But it does use the same principle of 'grinding' to even win proper. That's how the genre is unfortunately. Not all games are like this, mind you, since they draw on knowledge or logic that someone would naturally have despite never picking up one of the games.
>>
>>21782159
I'd also like to clarify I'm not trying to diss shmups. And I will agree that a lot of it has to do with the average person likely having a large degree less exposure to the genre that makes it hard to get into.

As much as I loathe to make such a tired connection, when Demons' Souls came out it was toted as very difficult. Dark Souls came out and was said to be much harder. People who played DeS disagreed, saying DeS was much harder. It was, in fact, stupidly easy compared to DS. So things like what >>21781920 said are certainly true. But in terms of gameplay, shmups are one of those games that rely on a bit more game-specific knowledge than some genres.

I've been in emails with DLsite about it and they keep sending me the same zip folder while telling me its been updated.
>>
>>21781920
>I think people forget how awful they were at video games when they were young
Joke is on you. When I was 7 years old I was able to play nightmare Quake, no miss original Contra, do Super Mario under 10 minutes. Those were good times.
>>
>>21782733
That's good, dear.
>>
>>21781920
A RTS was the first game I've ever played so complexity and learning curves in games was never an issue for me and I tended to learn fast.
Being good at certain genres can certainly make you good at other genres. Shmup skills are closest to Rhythm games, if anything.

https://www.dlsite.com/home/work/=/product_id/RJ199261.html
I don't have a download of it, but I figured you should put the proper name at least.

Some additions I would add:
-Sengoku Gensokyo, it's pretty old but very cool. Has great music. Campaign takes a considerable amount of time to beat, and has an NG+ boss if you beat it a second time around.
-Aya Ace Attorney Game: I forgot the proper name of it, but it was pretty fun. Not too long.
-Mount and Blade mod: /jp/ actually continued the work of an existing Mount and Blade mod made by some Chinese people. I don't have a link to the most update version but a lot of progress was made on it.

Of the few mentioned here:

1) Takkoman -Kouzatsu World-
Play very much like MMX/MMZ (more the latter). The ah, "characters" aren't your regular Gensokyo citizen. It's better if you read the story up yourself; it's in the wiki. Maybe it's just me but the difficulty can be crazy.

2) Satori Komeiji's Mental Education
A puzzle game where you as Satori has to guide Koishi (and later Orin and Okuu) by interacting with various signs and objects. There's 120 stages so depending on how good you are it can take a while.

3) Gensokyo no Nazo
It's basically an open-world platformer, and when I say open I mean there's about 200+ maps that's connected from one to the other, and some need to be opened from one side. If you get a game over any unlocked door will stay like that and you'll keep any upgrades, so only your score (and maybe your sanity cause screw dying in the middle of nowhere) will suffer. Best part about this game is you can recruit every boss, basically granting you extra lives on top of new abilities.

Keep in mind that I'm gonna need a bit more information on the games if I am to add them to the list for consistency, which can be found here https://boards.fireden.net/vg/thread/224877214/#225023415 also I would also like to know how long it would take to beat the game. Thanks in advance.

>>21783806
Thanks, I didn't know the actual name so I just put that in as a placeholder. I'll be sure to make changes to that. I've heard of sengoku gensokyo and someone actually did a brief playthrough of it on our general. Is that mod active?

>>21784141
Oh thanks for reminding me of Takkoman, while indeed the uhh cast is quite unique the gameplay looked really smooth and fluid and I wanted to play that game for some time. That satori game also looked quite nice as well from what I remember. And Gensokyo no Nazo sounds quite nice, and you've almost given me enough information to put it in the pastebin.

>>21784168
Sorry, I played a few levels of it and while it was nice to see Alphes art, the gameplay was just very repetitive and stale and none of the weapons felt good to fire.

>>21784170
I did play quite a bit of the original megaman games and the controls were fluid and tight but MegaMari was very tricky to play, perhaps I didn't give it a good enough chance though.
>>
>>21784385
>is that mod active?
Uh. Hard to say. The last general about it that I recall seeing was a couple months ago. There were actually two separate mods. Touhou Origins and Touhou Tinder. Origins' work was completed and the person who was working on it moved over to Tinder to continue building off that one. I'm unsure just how far the progress got, but it was completely functioning and all that good stuff. I'm just unsure if all of the planned features were completed. Honestly, I'd appreciate if someone could link the latest builds that were posted.

>>
>>21784168
I enjoyed it quite a bit as well. It's not as good as the EDF games it's imitating, but it still has a lot of fun weapons and some decent battlegrounds. My only real issue with it is that I couldn't figure out a reasonable countermeasure against fairies on the highest difficulties that didn't involve a bunch of grinding, though it's possible I overlooked something.

Aint that just EDF? As much as 5 and Iron Rain try to mitigate that.

>>
>>21785099
In EDF, I can generally prevail even against hordes of enemies that would all kill me in one hit through overwhelming firepower. Fairies, though, are extremely numerous, very fast, small targets, and fliers. Ultimately, I couldn't figure out any way to keep them at bay without taking hits, and those hits hurt like hell on the highest difficulty.

They're similar to the small UFO enemies in some of the EDF entries, but the small UFOs are much larger targets, are less tenacious, appear in far fewer missions (and when they appear in large numbers they typically lack ground support), and it's often possible to take cover against their attacks. As a result, I find them much more manageable, and I can defeat a ton of them even if I can only absorb a few laser bursts. Getting the right weapons for the job takes a little grinding, but not nearly as much as getting enough armor pickups to actually tank hits.
>>
>>21784909
It's been a while since I played, but I recall getting them in a stunlock with a rapid fire weapon and swapping to one of Remilia's spears, then swapping back to keep them stunned while the spear cools down. You could also just fling DEB-MAX and hope for the best.
>>
>>21783738
You should remove the tier list so you stop showing off your shitty taste. Better if you just update the wiki https://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Fangames
between the wiki and Doujinstyle there's not really a need for a pastebin anyway. Or are you just making it to take to that shit /vg/ Touhou general?

I've been playing through it lately. It feels more like a hard mode romhack of Live-A-Live than a standalone game. It's fun, but it's rarely doing anything that the original game didn't do.
I hear it gets pretty different in the final chapters, at least.
>>
>>21787613
It's not that much more difficult than the original though you'll probably have to grind a little in the final scenarios. As far as those are concerned they certainly are ambitious. Can't say they always hit the mark and some parts feel bare-bones but definitely ambitious.

I find it curious that someone would describe Genso Wanderer as "insanely difficult." I thought it had a pretty gentle difficulty curve. Getting through the longer dungeons without save-scumming takes some practice, but there are plenty of easy dungeons to learn the ropes in.

>>21792988
This is a good suggestion. Some of the bosses can take some effort to bring down if you don't know what you're doing, but the AI just doesn't pose a real threat at the strategic level.

I find that skill hardly transfers between shmups, I started with UFO, played it the most, and so it was my first 1cc. I had trouble with easier games like MoF and PCB afterwards.
>>
>>21802484
I started with SA, and spent a long time getting my rectum ravaged by Orin. I eventually decided to try out some of the other games for a change of pace and to hopefully polish up my skills, and ended up 1CCing EosD in about two hours. I think I 1CC'd IN a day or two after that. With my confidence bolstered, I returned to SA, and once again failed to get past Orin.

It's hard to say whether I breezed through EoSD and IN so easily because of all the time I'd spent playing SA, though, or if that's just due to the way my skills are skewed. Based on what people have said in the gameplay threads, I seem to suffer greatly against opponents that require learning patterns, while I find ones focused on RNG stuff and micro-dodging extremely easy.

>>>21796247
>I just finished Watasuki Bunnyland, am I almost done Reloaded?
Depends on what you mean by "finished." If you just defeated Kokoro, then that's pretty much the end of the main storyline (barring a couple DLC scenarios that might be included with Reloaded by default, I forget what all got bundled in there,) but there are still a ton of dungeons to clear. If you've actually cleared all of the Bunnyland dungeons, then there are still some more "grindin' forever"-themed dungeons that can be accessed through Rinnosuke at the Ancient City, and Kasen at the shrine.

Grats on the clear. I just got to what I assume is the final boss

She gets big with four spots to attack, right? Or am I not yet done?

I think I need more items or equipment.
>>
>>21802671
Apparently you can make her harder by beating bonus bosses mima has a battle sprite in the decompiled files I looked through of the jap version but yeah giant hecatia with her main body, head, and two celestial bodies is the last phase of the final boss.

If you want to cheese it, have yukari use her gap stuff and have her shove items into other party members.
I personally used Reimu, Reisen, and Tenshi. Tenshi buffed everyone and used items. Reimu healed people and spammed her AoE special. Reisen healed people and spammed her AoE special. It takes a while to get her down, and I killed the moon/earth/hell a fuckload of times before she went down. She may seem bad, but the timing for defending against her attacks is actually pretty easy.
If you desperately need better equipment, give Reimu her Yin Yang orb and pay kosaga to upgrade its attack. Grab the magic bean from the Akis, get the fertilizer by a boss in the sunflower garden who is harassing Yuuka then going to the magical science place in the dream world, and then talk to Yuuka in front of the SDM to get access to the games Lazy Shell Equivalent.
Also, buy a bunch of revive potions from Tenshi and make sure that you have accessories that protect from debuffs equipped.

Side note, found out about this just now:

Is Gensou Wanderer meant to be beaten without item inheritance and any other roguelite elements like in the original Shiren, or are they pretty much a necessity?

>>21783738
Looks pretty good overall but MegaMari absolutely does not belong in shit tier. It's mid tier at worst, easily comparable to if not better than most real Rockman games.
>>
>>21806541
>I did try to do the warphole dungeon in bunnyland but fuck that, shit is pure torture.
It's not really as bad as it first appears, you just need a solid understanding of how to make the most of the crafting/fusion mechanics. I thought those dungeons seemed like unfair RNG bullshit at first, but I can consistently clear almost all of them without save scumming now.

>>21808501
Genso Wanderer has a ton of different dungeons, and those dungeons follow different rules. Some of them do absolutely require the player to bring along upgraded equipment. There are others that can be cleared without it, though, and many that require the player to start off "naked" (which are the ones I generally enjoy the most.) Similarly, some dungeons ban crafting and partners, some start you off with all item types unidentified, etc. There's a good amount of variety after you get through the first two storyline dungeons.

If you're looking for a strictly western-style roguelike experience then I wouldn't recommend the game, but if you're open to at least some "roguelite" elements then I think it's worth trying out. I generally prefer the western roguelike formula, but I ended up being pretty fond of the item upgrade mechanics in Genso Wanderer. There's a lot more to it than just stacking pluses on a weapon.
>>
>>21808653

Thank you and yeah megamari is the one that I get that sort of comment on, I might have not been fair to it as I didn't play it for long, it was a hasty addition to the pastebin without much thought. I might revisit it and change it's placement.

>>21808653
The 100 floor futo dungeon allowed for infinite crafting but I think the warphole in bunnyland didn't even allow for that, or something, all I know is that it's insanely harder, but i'm sure with enough practice it is doable.

There are a few small mistakes like with Akyuu's name and title but other than that the dialogue is pretty solid and nothing seems to be odd with any of the characters.

Kumajou Densetsu and Gensokyo no Nazo are pretty fun, i just wish there was a way to not fuck up the controls. "Start" is impossible to bind correctly and closes the games. Can't put GnN at a decent resolution either.

It's a much faster bullet hell, with fucking amazing music and boss fights. The main gimmick is that you can activate Iku's fever time mode which let's you wipe bullets from the screen by running into them.

late reply
the early versions of GoS were fiendish, but the game became much easier with the Matsuri re-release, and then even easier with Soujinengi V. Which slows down enemies, lets you equip6more abilities and so on.
All in all not terribly difficult outside of the deep-end bonus bosses.

I didn't use Alice and the game in general was really hard, by the point I noticed how useful Alice is I already was on the last 3 dungeons of the main story.
I just didn't like Alice very much and suffered for that, but still had fun coming up with strats to defeat each boss.

If you enjoy ASSFAGGOTS, Defense of the Shrines (DotS) is pretty fun, at least the Warcraft 3 version.

There's a Dota 2 mod that's supposed to be a port of the original mod but I'm sure it has way less characters than the WC3 one.

well naturally, refusing to use a character is like an optional challenge, even if it's a gimmicky character like Cirno instead. With all options available it's mid tier difficulty with a handful spikes.

To be fair, ZUN has said PC-98 characters can be considered to still be walking around with everyone, they just aren't "on screen" in the games

>>
>>21843710
some of them are "finished", however he updates his games quite a lot. This is why he doesn't sell them. The aim is to have you get on his not-patreon and spend money every month to get every patch, basically.

Charming
>>
>>21852542
So the games are exclusively for that website and you need to buy and constantly pay for updates from there? No wonder it's untouched by gaijin.
>>
>>21852550
pretty much

This is why, although I'm very interested in his games and especially his survival horror one, fuck no am I not giving him money. I'll wait a year or two and see if I'm still interested. He'd probably be done with most of them by then
>>
>>21852556
I checked his pixiv and he seems to have been making games for years, judging by the number of them (though they all seem to use the same engine and even map).
Maybe check if there are already older games you can get. Otherwise, that means he won't leave any of his games soon.

>Meiling going shopping
I might be misremembering but wasn't Sakuya the one who told Meiling to come with her since they were gathering supplies before the scarlet mist incident started? She didn't really abandon her post.

>gay Nitori
I wouldn't say she's gay, she's more of "muh power of friendship" the character. Since the story and dialogue started getting written almost a decade ago by now. I can kinda see why they'd go for Nitori's pre-jew characterization.
>>
>>21848565
You kinda have to use Alice though. Like any other character as well. I played the old and actually good version of GoS (with a fanpatch doubling material droprate, as that was originally beyond retarded), and mostly didn't use Alice either (she was in my B party), but it did work quite alright. Just gotta build good parties. Death-Axe Aya + Sanae carry a lot on their own so Alice isn't REALLY needed most of the time. I don't think the game ever made me use her when I didn't have her in my party anyway.

Sanae on the other hand. Playing the game without her is usually a very bad idea...
>>
>>21852952
>wasn't Sakuya the one who told Meiling to come with her
That's the thing, Sakuya probably would not do that. They've all got their posts, and duties outside of the mansion are pretty much Sakuya exclusive. It's not a big deal, but Sakuya's dedication to Remilia and her job responsibilities is absurd. She'll basically do everything herself, no assistance. Only time she asked Meiling to do something was to try finding Lily in the gardens (since the gardens are Meiling's responsibility)

And I would say there was yuri-teasing. I know that stuff when I see it. She's definitely more blatantly friendly than she should be, too. While sure, "money-grubbing" was something we were informed of later, she was always a two-faced cunt. Nitori in MoF was self-interested and opportunistic, people just assumed her saying she's a friend of humanity was honest even though honestly, she attacks you several times.

Now those are some big Letty's.
>>
>>21865404
The only real issue here is not only am I not good with dialogue but I can’t really translate dialogue as well as I can the UI so you’ll have to be stuck with the auto translate(which shockingly is handling this game better than the other ones from this circle) but anyone who can will easily be able to fix whatever is there by opening up the txt file and fixing whatever lines they want fixing
>>
>>21865673
Also for a bonus I decided to also just take from the circle’s newer game files for portraits of characters too new for this one since I prefer this game’s gameplay, so I added custom characters for people all the way to four seasons. They don’t have the sprites since you can’t give custom characters those
