Who's your favourite Byzantine Emperor and why?
>>6919587Mehmed II because he saved the empire from the christian religion that had caused the Roman Empire to decay for the past millennium
>>6919604Nice meme, upvoted. For realsies this time.
>>6919604don't forget kicking out the gayreeks that ruined it and bringing the empire back under anatolian control
Basil the Bulgar Slayer, for obvious reasons.
>>6919653what's bulgar? did you mean booger?
Ressep Tape Ergowan
>>6919659Bulgar is Bulgarian.
>>6919660Unbelievably based and kara boga-pilled
John II's only crime was dying too early.
>>6919587aside from the obvious, Justinian the great , Basil II (Bulgar slaying BVLL) was pretty based. Image related was the territory before his reign compared to the territory at his death. Sadly the empire would to stagnate after his death. His military campaigns were also fairly success and he was loved by the army. All around you should look into him more, very based emperor. >>6919653>>6920667>>6920675also based.
>>6919587Justinian I because of the lasting building programBasil I, Basil II and Heraclius because of the stabilisation of the bordersAlexios I Komnenos for managing the most complicated situation so well
>>6920741Basil the Bulgar Slayer was IRL Stannis Baratheon. A miserable, ruthless cunt hated by everyone but respected and admired for his capability and results.
>>6920667Heraclius is responsible for the collapse of the East, his rebellion allowed Persians to walk into Egypt and entrench in Syria. If anything, Constans II and Constantine IV deserve more praise for stabilizing the country.
>>6920770>game of thrones
Emperor BUSTinian for slamming that pussy
>>6920777And yet Heraclius properly defeated the Sassanids and was able to take it all back. The east would've suffered the same fate as the Sassanids if it weren't for Heraclius. It definitely would've fallen under the rule of Phocas.
>>6920801> It definitely would've fallen under the rule of Phocas** According to later historians writing under heracliean rule.
Emperor and saint Constantine XII is often forgotten despite being the emperor during the fall of Constantinople and being involved in it's defense. He died on the field. His legacy lives on. I Legend has it an angle rescued him by turning him into marble and is currently awaiting Resurrection so he can take back Constantinople for Christendom.
