Windows Media Player on XP had some very 2000s skins.
Media player skins in general are a good resource.

>>373404got any other examples (maybe math animations)? i love it too
>>369527dude i knew that looked kinda farmilar... i've been looking for those designs on devianart but are mostly outdated and have no tutorials. If he really wanted to make a Y2K inspired game, he should've made a 3D platformer. Those were all the rage back then.
>>375190It looks more mid-00s to me, like the menu/catalog of the wii or DS
>>375191It's the flat UI. He got the symbols and everything right, but it's implemented lazily. He should've used more gradients at the very least.
The art/design of the 2000s decade was a mix of commercialism & stylish futurism
Is there a certain name for like this type of 2000s art style.
>>369728After seeing this and looking back to my phone, i feel like i have been downgraded to hell. Even with a corporate take, this looks way more vivid and interesting to look at than a random background full of flat icons with randomly picked colors
>>375252it was a nod to 70s scifi, with all the silver and glass. y2k was both 70s nostalgia and hype for millennium.>>375364y2k
>>375390Y2k refers only to the look & feel of the turn of the millennium (~1997-2003)
>>375393well yes, how does this contradict anything that I said?
>>375396Never mind, I thought that other anon was asking about the aesthetics of the whole decade
just skeuomorphism basically
>>369982Fucking zoomers with their flat minimalistic faggot crap
>>374580What podcast was it?
Wow, these are nice icons, I appreciate this era of images, it's pretty nice. Also 90's PC video for video games is really nice to me, too. It sounds good to me to just update my icons on my computer to this and set up different things in my computer to different eras and have some extreme clusterfuck of a creature on my computer of what's going on. I think it's the optimal aesthetic choice, it would just be basically streamlined and really visually appealing. Just a mountainous instant of a frightening creation every time I open my computer and do anything. lol
Wouldn't zoomers be the ones who like this shit due to how they grew up with it?
Does this count /gd/?
>>375884Here's something a bit more late 2000s
>>375885What is it with late 2000s/early 2010s and lime green?
>>375921rave etc. popularized acidic colors for edgy/sci-fi stuff. also, trendy palettes. a lot of 90s was actually 60-70s nostalgia. and at that time popular colors were orange and lime.
what was that glossy white almost snowboarding aesthetic called?
>>373685that shit is still alive in china on wechat and shit. there are so many other chat apps in china toohell, iMessage can play checkers and stuff
Found this browsing Pinterest, and I hate itI'm actually brainstorming for a show set during Y2K, so thanks for the thread
>>373608I miss /1cc/.
This is what I, zoomer trash, enjoyed to watch as a toddler. I believe this fits ITT due to its aged, yet futuristic visuals and trancy soundtrack (and the fact that it aired from 2001 to 2007).https://youtu.be/JF2fXtAHCmQ
Why is everyone here post early-90s styled stuff? Were you still babies in 2000's?
>>376398Also papers, old papers, retro papers. (this was late 2000's)
>>376398>>376399Thank you.Finally someone posts something post-y2k.
>>376398I think the post above yours answers your question.
Anyone remember Yahoo widgets and Google Desktop?
oh man i would have to bring out my hds from storagedo miss those old winamp skin days
>>376398A lot of zoomers don't understand the 2000s aesthetic (which doesn't make sense, since they lived their childhood in that decade)They think the aesthetic of the whole decade is y2k, which they misinterpret as "vaporwave 2: digital boogaloo", and pic related comes out as a result.
Not UI but in late 2000's was the trends of posting vintage/polaroid/instant-camera looking photos. So trending that some developer create an mobile app that you can instantly get these instant-camera effects without editing. (but the app later focused for photo sharing)The app is called Instagram.
>>376443precisely this and it's missing the mark
I hate tumblr trannies as much as the next guy, but the Y2K style is undeniable to me and it sucks to see so many rejecting it over some gay kids.
>>376460There's no rejection for y2k, it's just this >>376443
>>376408>>376411had the Mac widgets, myself
>>369560Turbo Nick?! Man, this brings me back.
Being a pirate is alright to be!
>>369524What exactly makes y2k aesthetic? i'm a 00's kid (born in 97) and I can recognize the aesthetic but I can't quite say what makes the style other than being kind of semi-furustic and pretty much everything having rounded edges. The style is a lot less obvious to make unlike 80's and 90's aesthetic. I really want the y2k style to take off again but it's just a bit too vague at least in MY opinion, i'd love to have anyone help me figure it out
>>3770101. lots of 70s influence—futuristic sci-fi stuff with lots of silver, lots of orange, blobby shapes (see Karim Rashid), rave's revival of hippies/psychedelic, flowers, groovy fonts, not sure if related but hot rod flames. WipeOut aesthetic was a sort of revival of 60s–70s modernsim in new context.2. postmodern design—irregular blob shapes, 3D, super complex stuff/maximalism, appropriation and references to famous brands, hybrid of old/new, etc.3. trends of the decade—influence from hip-hop (see graffiti and baggy clothing), rave, punk and nu-metal
>>377019Also:>frequent use of silver and varying shades of blue, alternatively black and yellowish green>lots of glossy materials>also more or less angular fonts as seen in >>376040 and >>373575
>>377055>>frequent use of silver and varying shades of blue, alternatively black and yellowish green>>lots of glossy materials>>also more or less angular fonts as seen inwell yeah that's what I mean by 70s sci-fi: lots of gloss, silver and so on (see >>375390)angular fonts are also kinda related to this. in the 70s, grid was all the rage. many modernist fonts were built on a grid and had square appearance like picrelated. Designers Republic is probably to credit for bringing this aesthetic back to life.
>>377010People also used LOTS of transparency in everything, from logos to actual products.

Are graphics that have gradients but are not mimicking anything real still skeumorphic?
>>373286Flat design is more futuristic though since it looks like HUD design portrayed in sci-fi. The shiny stuff was just mimicking cheap plastic shit from the time.

>>378098It's art from an album that Designers Republic designed. This is another.
>>369527>>369528>>369529i love thesei wish the 2000s glossy/3D-ish/gradient style would make a comeback. i hate these modern minimalist styles.

>>378881everyone serious about offline music playback switched over to foobar2k long before streaming music platforms became a thing.
>>376443>>377010I think it's more just that y2k was such an interesting one, while the contemporary/soft y2k 00s style that happened literally beside it is more muted, even though still interesting in its own right.Honestly, I wouldn't give too much hate to people who didn't quite remember the early 00s, since it feels like y2k and soft y2k is '97-'03 and then '04-'08 was that whole McBling thing.
>>371648I'm definitely not used to the 4chan shit after being gone for so long, but they're not bad people. Froyo and the other people who work on the archive legit have done wonders for keeping records of stuff, so they legit got my respect.>>378901Where there ever any early 00s skins for foobar?
