>>Enterprise 2019 LTSC
There is a same version in /sqt/ but the sizes are different (3.6g vs 4g)
What's the difference between them?
>>
Posting again: will a Windows 10 SSD boot when moved to a new CPU/Mobo?
>>
>>71807840
the sqt thread one is march refresh, this is the original release, according to a very quick hash search. So you should probably get the sqt one, but in the end it doesn't really matter
>>
>>71807871
It will get to the bootloader surely (nothing stopping that), but whether it will actually get to the login screen and not just BSOD is 50/50 and you can't really do anything against it.
What you should really be aware is if you plan to clone it to a new drive, plug it in before and let windows install drivers before cloning it over.
I fucked that one up when I was cloning from HDD to SSD.
>>
>>71807871
don't know about 10 since it's a total mess but my 8.1 install worked perfectly fine

I'm using a cracked copy of Windows 7 ultimate edition.
Should I upgrade?
Last time I bought a computer with a legitimate copy of Windows was Windows 98 in the last millennium
>>
>>71808483
Newer windowses have way more advanced security features, for me this is one of the main reasons to upgrade. Win 10 is also faster due to hybrid startup, and dark explorer is comfy af.
The only possible reason for not upgrading is that it requires more work to remove botnet than previous versions, but there are programs now that take care of all that.

However if you're talking about the upgrade as in the offered windows upgrade, don't, you can only get Pro with that, do a clean install of either Enterprise LTSC 2019 or Enterprise atleast.

It can be a bit resource hungry on lowmem devices but apart from that, having tried simplewall for a few months I'll never recommend it.

First thing in the morning, what do I see? A pile of shit staring at me. I close my eyes, I step away. No matter where I go, there’s no getting away. Take your poo to the loo. Take your poo to the loo. Take your poo to the loo. Take your poo to the loo.

Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, everywhere. Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, next to you. Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, where is that loo?

I step out on the street. What do I smell? Shit that’s stinky to high hell. I hold my breath, I step away. But everywhere I go, there’s no getting away.

Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, everywhere. Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, next to you. Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, everywhere. Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, where is that loo.

Shit, not shit, this shit, that shit. Let’s see now. Let me check. Happy birthday. Happy birthday.

Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, everywhere. Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, next to you. Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, everywhere. Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, where is that loo.

It has been a while since I've used it (don't have much call to boot the win10 laptop) but I found the putting it in "Learning Mode" and then allowing applications/processes in the open ports list used to do the trick.

Defender also detects the most false positives, not to mention that it doesn't even let you to disable the shitty web filter called SmartScreen, which is blocking my awesome russian torrent sites instead of real malware.
I always recommend to remove Defender and SmartScreen with Optimize-Offline github script and install some 3rd party AV instead, ESET NOD32 is good recommendation, you can use it with TNod to get free licenses forever.

I've been using the tnod thing, but forever? I've been getting licenses that expire in october or so. Ain't there a chance by then there won't be any more servers for it?

Yeah, it still exists and works, there is new private server for licenses that you need to add: https://tnods1.blogspot.com

Some recommendations

Picture Viewer:
- Honeyview - fastest one (cache works the best) + highest quality with Lanczos resampling (Bicubic/Bilinear options also available)
- ImageGlass - I don't use it, but looks nice from screenshots

Video Player:
- MPC-HC - project was taken by clsid2 (creator of K-Lite Codec Pack and other useful stuff) and there is no need to install Codec Pack, as you won't be needing codecs for encoding and external decoders and splitters for other players which be bloating only your system registry
MPC-BE - nice alternative to MPC-HC, actively developed with many old MPC-HC devs

Antivirus:
- Windows Defender has the lowest detection rate of all AVs, it's not nice to recommend it, when BitDefender, Comodo etc exists.

Misc:
X-Mouse Button Control - mouse macros

Is enabling SMB v1.0 really dangerous to my machine? I used to be able to set up SMB connection from my PC to share my media folder so I can access it via Android using Perfect Viewer or MXPlayer (I was using win7 back then). Now it's been some years since I'm using a windows, and I'm now trying win10 on my new PC. But I can't seem to success setting up the connection. After some reads I think it's caused by windows disabling samba v1.0 because of some exploits.
My question is, is it safe to turn SMB v1.0 on if I'm just on my private network at home (consists of my router, a PC, a laptop and some android phones), and not some enterprise setup? Will someone be able to do nasty smb exploits to my computer over the internet?
>>
>>71817678
Well, SMB1 was used for DoublePulsar (exploit leaked from NSA, used for WannaCry), so its not without a reason its disabled.
Anyways, be sure to have your system updated and it should be fine.
>>
it's some months that i'm dual booting win 10 with manjaro and i only use manjaro even for gaming but there are some bugs with proton and some games i wanna play just does not work

Yes it is a lot better, even v2 fixed a lot of fundamental design flaws like the quite risky intentional remote code execution in the protocol.

That doesn't happen with KMS_VL_ALL - it automatically adds the .dll file to Defender's exclusions, it only happened with crappy tools like KMSPico and only in 2015 or so, also, some of us remove Defender crap from the .iso and use better third party AV instead.

XP hack was also a different version called POSReady 2009, the updates just happened to be mostly compatible with XP (althought you had to manually patch like 3 updates) and receiving them was a simple registry edit. You download the .iso and the .exe from the mega, place them in the same folder, then run the .exe, which should generate the correct .iso

to explain, SFVs are essentially diff-s, but for ISOs

Hello anons,

So I reinstalled my windows, I do have a stupid question.

How do I use OptimizeOffline? What should be the code for the start.cmd?
>>
>>71831660
Optimize-Offline only works on .iso images, you can't use it to modify already installed system - it's supposed to rebuild a new, debloated .iso image for you with lots of registry and services tweaks.
>>
>>71831660
optimize offline only works on ISOs or WIM files. You have to use the script to create a new windows ISO with the parameters you want (check the additional folder just in case, there's a script that won't make you happy if you don't want to disable certain services) and then use that ISO to install windows.

probably because it doesn't actually compare it, just some heuristics (size / date / you-name-it), since obviously it can't read at 40 GB/s

Optimize-Offline is for optimizing .iso images, hence the word OFFLINE, while that spiceworks thing is for already installed systems (LIVE SYSTEMS), also, Optimize-Offline removes apps way deeper, because you can only do that offline - best to do it that way.
>>
>>71840304
It's worth noting that Optimize-Offline is being updated quite frequently, so always check the github page to make sure you have the newest version.
https://github.com/DrEmpiricism/Optimize-Offline

Also, after downloading the whole script, you can (and should) edit the Optimize-Offline.ps1 with Notepad++, search for the: #region Registry Optimizations. inside it, and there you can add your own registry tweaks (or remove some of the existing ones you don't like), here is my own must-have tweak that i add to Optimize-Offline:
https://pastebin.com/raw/FTCRe2Q2
>>
>>71840377
I just noticed he removed a script (Set-Privacy) that was included that I didn't add just in case related to privacy. Did he merge it or just outright took it out due to criticism?

I'm looking to build LTSC image that has no store (like default) no defender (though I have yet to find a good antivirus), maybe a system app or two removed that are safe to disable, windows updates and other things still working and not breaking, something middle ground in terms of privacy. A few days ago I read this thing:

https://github.com/DrEmpiricism/Optimize-Offline/issues/82

And I thought "well shit, I'm a brainlet and don't know what half of that might actually break". Like outright bluetooth pairing is something I don't want to lose.
>>
>>71840472
Yeah, those services were probably optimized for desktop PCs without bluetooth and wifi, therefore these services were included by default in that Set-Privacy.ps1, i don't know why he has removed those minor scripts, maybe he will implement services optimization in a safer way.

How do I use the SVF patches to convert EVAL to normal for Windows 7 POSReady ?
>>
>>71844362
Defender: free and integrated into the OS, installed by default
Kaspersky: slow, paid, runs its set of stuff, have to install it
Not that bad of a trade desu. You can also just click ignore on false positives if you encounter them

>You can also just click ignore on false positives if you encounter them
Not really, Defender has removed a lot of MY OWN CRACKS so many times without my permission, while Kaspersky has never ever removed them, the first thing i do is fully removing Defender from the offline .wim image, only then i install Windows, i just can't stand this fucking joke of an AV, it is literally the second McAfee, same tier.
>>
>>71844521
Stop pirating and actually pay for software you use daily.
>>
>>71844521
adding to ignore list has worked for me on other pcs and my vms, although I also just entirely disabled Defender on main, since it also removed my tools and cracks (like the activator part of KMS_VL_ALL which i developed. funny because before release it didn't care at all). So far I had problems with almost all AVs. I guess it's because AVs tend to dislike software using malware techniques regardless if they are malicious or not
>>
>>71844602
>Stop pirating and actually pay for software you use daily.
No, i have never paid for any software in my entire life and i never will, i pirate literally everything since Windows 2000 and Windows XP times.
Just stop using shitty AVs that remove cracks.

i want the most optimized and compatible Windows build there is, what should I get?
and how would I go about removing bloat and stuff i want to be private :<
>>
>>71844643
BTW: Do you know any skilled people capable of cracking NTLite? I have asked around in the warez scene, but no one that i know was able to crack it.
My friend from Poland has managed to crack the v1.8.0.6790 beta build, but after that no news from him - NTLite is very hard to crack because it's packed with Obsidium x64 - it's almost on the Denuvo level in terms of a challenge.
The v1.9.0.7046 beta build is the newest version currently.

Defender does not only catch false positives way too often, it's also a sluggish piece of trash. It's worth installing a 3rd party AV that doesn't kidnap resources on lower powered devices. You'd be surprised at how many non-tech savvy people still use older laptops and go back to Windows 7 just because of it.

Heck not even older shit, just try it on those surface tablets.
>>
>>71844853
I am well aware of this - i have been telling this to everyone since 2016, but some idiots prefer to think that Defender is a GODSEND and Microsoft is a Jesus, because they read it on reddit's /r/Windows10/
>>
>>71844818
ugh fuck virtualizers.
I only know a guy who can do devirtualization, but only ever did VMProtect and works against anticheats, not DRM, so I doubt he'd be interested

I use nod32, it's not perfect and I would probably look for some other alternative but at least I haven't had either problems with malware or the system going slow. I refuse to pay for shit to be honest.

As you should, NOD32 is based and 100x better than the Defender crap, it's also pretty lightweight.
I use Kaspersky right now, but i have been using ESET NOD32 for many years and it has never failed me.

I just received 2-year Kaspersky license for free so im using it now, but when it'll expire i'll probably switch back to ESET.

Still can't find another music player that actually reads & displays LIST tags in WAV other than foobar2000. Why do all other players suck so much?

Because foobar2000 is the best of the best :3

Hello frens I'm about to install W10LTSC for my games, will doing that deny me from access to my Manjaro partition? Will it delete anything from my GNU/Linux partitions? People often say that but I'm not sure
>>
>>71809363
Doesn't work on any 1903 version btw

>Hello frens I'm about to install W10LTSC for my games, will doing that deny me from access to my Manjaro partition? Will it delete anything from my GNU/Linux partitions? People often say that but I'm not sure
That's true, you need to install Windows first and Linux later, otherwise Windows 10 installation will replace bootloader
>>
>>71846567
I'll look for a way to restore the old bootloader then, I heard this is no big deal, Thanks!
>>
>>71846591
be aware that windows bootloader updates might mess with the bootloader later on. Don't know if it affects Linux, but it did affect my VeraCrypt install, so you might want to install bootloader on a spare pendrive too in case something goes wronf
>>
>>71846458
I can't code for shit or I would have. Not displaying LIST tags is the only thing stopping me from switching to an FOSS music player.
>>
Should I buy a $5 w10 LTSC key on ebay? I don't want to blindly trust some patcher
>>
>>71847324
yes, use my discount code: alpha
>>
>>71847324
You don't need to blindly trust it, it's opensource. It also doesn't patch anything.
I literally developed it too.

A Windows 7 based OS for Point-of-Sale terminals. Essentially Windows 7 Enterprise with extended support and a few useless (to us) features like USB filtering
>>
>>71848318
I wanted a better explanation, why would I use it over normal win7?
>>71848347
so what about using it on a desktop?
is it less bloat and better for muh games or no?
>>
>>71848366
It's not much different from normal Win7 Enterprise, except that it's supported for almost a year more.
>>
>>71848394
and that support only comes in windows updates right? I have just been using simplix for updates, is there any other support?
thanks for answering my question though, never heard of it before
>>
>>71848432
well, third parties choose on their own what they want to support, so obviously it's just windows updates
>>
>>71807757
any decent program out there for updating drivers?
>>
>>71849150
firefox
>>
>>71849150
Device Manager got progressively better in the last ~10 years. Just click "Update driver" on the devices one by one and it usually turns out just fine, with only drivers installed and no device manufacturer / OEM bloat. If something still doesn't work just search the driver from the manufacturer, driver updaters are usually shitty.

Only for the latest LTSC and Enterprise G versions

That's WES7. POSReady 7 has 1 years and 8 months longer support.
>>
>>71849503
>IoT editions
IoT core and mobile cannot activate normally anyway. IoT enterprise follows LTSB and LTSC and should not be sondiered deparae versions.
You are right for the server part
>>
>>71849511
correct, somehow subtracting 2020-01-14 from 2021-10-12 resulted in 8 months for me.

Very good! But instead of OfficeRTool, there is a better mydigitallife program called WOTOK autoit (pic related) - it's easier to use and it has option to disable Office Telemetry with just one switch (see pic related).

Use Online version.
