>>70561980yeah, that's why I said it probably wouldn't get uploads unless the bounty was massive. No one on BTN really gives a shit, which is why there are no episodes currently up.

>>70562024Tucker Carlson is a bit different from Alex Jones. He doesn't get on TV and act batshit insane. But I'd say the things he promotes are even more insidious. I wouldn't do anything to help propagate his show but anyone that's interested could find a stream and record it. Maybe even set up a cron job to do it daily. This is /g/ after all, if you're here you can probably handle that much right? Fox news is not the hardest channel to find a stream for. Since it gets broadcasted worldwide, I can even pick it up on satellite here in Asia, there are many points in the world it can be pirated from. Might not be HD, but hey, it's news/opinion programming not the latest episode of Game of Thrones.

Things get preserved as long as they're popular and if they aren't, they don't get released at all or get lost. The amount of people who hoard stuff for the sake of it is very small because the rest are just consumers. The hoarders can't cover everything. There's no good way to preserve content when it's illegal and it takes so much storage. For real preservation it has to be hosted in the open like on archive.org.

Public tracker pleb here, and I'm probably painfully out of date with this. When I torrented previous seasons of GoT, the best options available (at least for a while after the air date) were re-encodes of HDTV broadcasts, with varying degrees of compression and often missing things like subtitles. But S08E01 was available pretty much immediately after broadcast. It was 1080p, labelled WEB, and didn't seem to be a re-encode... and it had subs, 5.1 audio, and all the rest of it.Where are these files from? Are they from something like HBO GO/NowTV and if so, isn't this an actual legitimate threat to their business? At least before there was an incentive to subscribe to a pay TV service in order to watch it right away without quality issues- but this .mkv file is a better experience to the official services in every way (I don't think there's any other way to watch with surround audio on my PC). I would have happily paid for that file if they would let me.

Capitalism historically has always moved towards concentration of wealth in the hands of the few and over generations into the hands of incompetent and corrupt people. The same thing I said about unique products applies to imaginary "property rights" over non-occupied real estate that is used to extract rent. It requires a corrupt/crony/mafia/racket that is paid into by those who can afford it to at the expense of those who cannot most often by a state or private militia.>As soon as the land of any country has all become private property, the landlords, like all other men, love to reap where they never sowed, and demand a rent even for its natural produce. The wood of the forest, the grass of the field, and all the natural fruits of the earth, which, when land was in common, cost the labourer only the trouble of gathering them, come, even to him, to have an additional price fixed upon them. He must then pay for the licence to gather them; and must give up to the landlord a portion of what his labour either collects or produces. Someone shouldn't be able to use it in a movie, some other kind of work like sampling etc, without paying you for it. I'd support some similar things but that's really about as far as I would go. Commercial exploitation of your works should result in you getting paid. I'm entirely against patents though. Just because you're the "first" to come up with something doesn't mean you should be able to extract payments for variations of it until the end of time. The owner of a copyrighted computer program should not be able to sue any person or organization involved in the creation of a program with the same or similar functionality as long as they didn't rip off any of their code. All the laws regarding these things keep getting tighter but I personally believe they should be much looser.

What if you write a song is it okay if someone covers it almost exactly the same? Maybe your music should be so good live that people have to charge for a private session if you really want money. Why couldn't artists who want commercial work contract specifically for that and cater their work around performative art that cant be replicated? Why shouldn't I be able to use my own recording of your song? 1/2
Code I really see the same way. If it can be reverse engineered why not use it? Collaboration yields results faster than competition anyway. These are all contradictions that are inherent to the reproduction of private property in pursuit of profit. If the means of production were held in common work would be for use and need rather to fill corporate banks. If the code is useful it should be a public good, but you should be able to restrict others exploiting it for profit like Google, Microsoft, Apple enforcing digital enclosures on open source software. If their profits went to the thousands of coders who contributed to their platforms those coders wouldn't need sue people who use their code. If your songs are good, people will want to see you perform. This is even why things like Spotify are marketed as a "subscription" and a "service" because they realized digital "goods" arent real, and the actual artists and even coders who built the platform see pennies for their work while it all goes to shareholders. Why should some sit back and do nothing all their lives off of rent paid by others who work?2/2

>>70568369>100GB is fucking retarded even for lossless quality. That's pre encoding you poor cuck
is there any reason to bother with private movie trackers when rarbg basically always has remuxes/fullBDs? I mean storage is dirt cheap these days so encodes are pointless.

>>70573935It could never be as good. But it's the best we've got.
>>70564509Morally speaking piracy is neutral, like breaking the speed limit or ripping your own DVDs.Pirates buy more.
>>70564149Piracy is bad. I still do it to save money and it's unironically the most convenient way to get the file.
>>70574612Corporations don't have feelings. I have no problem at all with stealing from rich people. I buy music from smaller labels and such when I have money. I never buy something that has a form of DRM unless it's dirt cheap or I intend to remove the DRM and share it. I see absolutely nothing wrong morally with pirating any content with a form of DRM on it. If it has DRM I don't own it, I'm just renting it.
>>70574644Stealing is against the law and it doesn't care about your "feelings".
>>70574674You sure do love to lick boots. But I don't give a fuck about the law, or you for that matter. Go watch 13 Reasons Why on Netflix like a good little snitch.
>>70574699Good luck saying that when police bangs your door.
>>70574730Not going to happen. I've probably been doing this shit longer than you've been alive. I'm not leaking coveted prerelease material (not anymore at least) so it would be incredibly expensive to come after me for copyright violations and therefore not worthwhile.
>>70574758Piracy is evil and will always be no matter what justification you say to yourself.
Best tracker to download architecture plans to rebuild the Notre Dame?
>>70574814Piracy is less evil than the DRM that prevents me from watching the shows I want to watch on the devices I want to watch them on. Imagine a world where notwhat won the fight for WCD's legacy. We would be living in a utopia.
>>70570944Of course. But it's still just as retarded as using wav when flac exists. VHS tapes have fuck all chroma resolution so there's zero reason to capture in 4:4:4, and uncompressed video in general is retarded when lossless x264 or other lossless codecs exist.
>>70574860Evil is evil. There's no such thing as "less evil".

>>70570492>This is the whole point and importance of encryption, p2p, cryptography, diy, security culture and highlights the difference between personal and public. Personal information doesn't have a public application like a life saving drug or information about crimes conducted by your government on your behalf.Just so you know, if anyone ever invents a way to provably secure your personal information from getting leaked, the same invention could be used to create a DRM that will prevent your preservation efforts. The entities that process your personal data won't be able to share it the same way you won't be able to share content and software provided for your personal use by the rightsholder.

The person I "knew" doing it had a multi thousand dollar set up for transfering VHS cassette and doing the capture process. I remember one show was 80 gb and less than an hour, like 42 min. 150gb/hr was an exaggeration but it made my point - people who didnt know the capture process that big are surprised, whether 50gb an hour or 150gb.I didnt ask questions, he was an expert, he sent me a couple lossless ones.
