Really. Is this done by changing the pdf file or something. Ive read the manual for mupdf and zathura but it doesnt seem to be any option to change pdf colorscheme. Any links or help would be appreciated

You can do it in zathura. The option is called recolor. Here, https://github.com/esn89/base16-zathura some sample configurations for you. I think you can also do it in okular.
