There are people in this board right now who don't want to pull 60hrs of unpaid overtime every week.

Whatever. I am usually pretty left-leaning when it comes to worker's rights, but in the case of SpaceX, I am prepared to turn a blind eye. Space colonization is worth it. Do what you have to do to accomplish that goal, Elon-chan.

Its either him or no space colonization at all. Governments already proved they are woefully incompetent in that arena. They had all the advantage in the 70s - what do we have now, 50 years later? A handful of shitty tin cans in LEO.

The answer is pretty easy. It's a faith, a sense of serving a bigger purpose. It's like a programmer spending a stressful day at office, coming home, and feeling upset about his life. What does he do? He finds the meaning behind his struggle. He imagines that his work goes towards "greater good", that he "contributes" to human progress, that elon is cute, bezos rocks, etc. It's a lie capitalist sell to office cucks in order to fill a void in their life. It's kind of religion at this point, although it doesn't praise any "natural" virtues such as dignity, kindness, love towards nature, but instead it propagates working harder at any cost, and make other people do the same.

Its only faith if its not factually true. Serving as a cog in the machine that enables humans to live among the stars is truly serving a bigger purpose. Kinda like what religious worship would be if we somehow proved that God actually existed.

>>

Space "colonization" with current technology is a dumb waste of precious earth resources, current technology doesn't allow for any level of "colonization", not today and not in 100 years, there are big issues on earth that need to be solved instead of gazing up to an impossible ski-fi dream, all the actual space research is already being done by scientists on earth with help of space probes, all those Musks and Virgin records are just pretending to be Nasa while not knowing anything about actual science.

It's not. One day the whole universe will die and your so beloved humanity will perish with all their fancy toys, spaceships and colonies on planets. Your grand(^n)children will turn into nothing but void. So no, humanity's long term survival is irrelevant if it comes with the cost of reducing human being to a machine that is only concerned with perpetual growing and progress, w/o any regard to something beautiful and meaningful like nature.

You couldnt be more wrong.

Current technology is sufficient for space colonization. More importantly, we dont know how long high-tech civilization capable of space travel will last. There might be a short window of opportunity between a species developing enough for space travel and being destroyed on their home planet or reduced to now tech by many possible natural or artificial catastrophes. We need to spread to space ASAP, the next 100 years could very well decide whether humanity will survive forever in space or end on this planet.

We know that most of the implementation of these two system didn't work so well. Instead of talking stupid meme shit you could use your brain (assuming you have one) to figure out a new system that doesn't suck that much.

>Rotation.
Assuming that G-forces can fulfill the same rule as gravity if you even think about it for a minute the impracticality to build a spaceship that keeps a controlled rotation would be massive.
>A first ever attempt at artificial biosphere failed! We are surely doomed, humans never improve or learn from previous mistakes!
I'm not saying that mankind shouldn't research on new technologies and uncovering the secrets of nature. my whole point was that if you are going to neglect nature, the delicate earth ecosystem and put your faith into technology that doesn't exist, then mankind is good as dead.

More investment in local services and a higher minimum wage is the only thing that can save consumer capitalism from a Soviet-Communism style slide into oblivion.

In major Western economies there is an ever growing underclass who are just about managing to stay above water, albeit usually with debts of some manner, but lacking the financial resources to properly engage in society; whether it's spending money on frivolities or moving out of their parents home and starting a family of their own, and more besides. I, personally, belive that, in the UK especially, the last tens years of serious economic stagnation coinciding with a halt in the increase productivity of the workforce is not some curious chance event but the very real and serious consquence of people simply being more and more miserable. Everyone's anxious or depressed because they don't have money, and they don't have money so they can't take their mind of how horrible their lives are and therefore they go into work and do a shitty job because they can't be arsed anymore. Wages must be raised, significantly, to kickstart a productivity boom before the entirity of Europe and North America are so far into China's shadow you have to fly to Wuhan just to remind yourself what the Sun actually is.

On the off chance someone from a finance ministry is reading this; please sort it out, I don't want a Soviet-Communist slide into oblivion, it looked fucking horrible.

Everything else is incidental and in the long run won't matter.

There's a difference between wageslaving for fucking McDonalds and doing personal work/self improvement/working for the greater good. It's not so hard to grasp. Being a Wendy's microwave artist isn't real work; it's just a fucking trick to keep your ant brains in a feedback loop until you're no longer of use and you die.

Even 25 hrs a week in a shit braindead job, you're still allowing yourself to be lied to and exploited

I know this is bait, but if you need to work 60hrs/week to achieve whatever you are doing, you are likely not working as efficiently as you should.
What matters at the end of the day is getting shit done. Merely working more hours in itself means nothing.

Passions are memes. Working hard (not for someone, only for yourself) all day, then spending night having sex with your traditional wife is the only way to happiness. Hobbies, passions, interests are all modern day inventions of the system as an attempt to decrease the depression levels of humanity. And as you can tell, it doesn't work quite well. Staying one step ahead of death is that man needs, not computer games, not animes, not "hobbies", just hunting and gathering and planting.

It's always funny to me how degenerates that live like a docile animals in their tiny city apartments make fun of anprim with their weak and lame memes. Sure, go on with your life, work hard , play even harder, and wonder who the fuck you are in the sunday morning. I also hope that you took child-free movement and instead of making a strong family you jerk off to some increasingly shameful fetishes. I just want to be sure that your beta male genes will end with your pathetic life.

>all people are born equal

it's in every constitution.
>>
>>69763937
No. Firstly most countries don't have constitutions in the first place. Secondly, most countries don't have that concept in laws, just a generic "it's good to assume it" implications. Third, what you mean isn't that "all people are born equal" is part of any constitution (because it's nowhere, in no law, rule, or even implicit concept, for obvious reasons), but "all are equal before the law". Except this is never practiced even where it's the law.

That's sort of the economic version of saying, "why do you only consider interventionism/isolationism when talking about 'foreign policy'". Because that's pretty much the only way to broadly discuss one or two facets of the issue rather than blogposting an entire philosophical treatise on the smartphone board of a Turkmen gardening forum. In the case of foreign policy, you have a sliding scale of thinking your country should commit all your resources to influencing the rest of the world on one side, and on the other you only tend to your domestic affairs even in the presence of a clear and immediate external threat. To get a more realistic read on foreign policy you have to argue rules for when you do and don't intervene, do you discriminate between threats to your businesses vs threats to your physical safety, what are your policies for forming and defending alliances etc, and each one of those points is it's own difficult argument.

Similarly with capitalism vs communism, you could make a sliding scale of "hoard for yourself anything you can make/earn/scam/steal/extort from anyone, and anyone who isn't good enough at that dies" vs "redistribute equally in all cases and at threat of death," All realistic discussion about what constitutes economic fair play or appropriate tax and business policy is more complex. It's not choosing between 2 systems, it's just a pair of words that conveniently describes a lot of aspects of the INFINITE number of economic systems in a succinct way.

But I work for Tesla and I'm hourly, jokes on you, I just give all that OT money straight to the state of California instead of working for free

What if Great Filter is civilizations always postponing space colonization even if they have the technology, because "first we solve global warming / poverty / diseases / nation states / peak oil and THEN we will go to space"? I used to be a chef. I would work long hours 6 days a week. One of my best friends from that profession, one who I still hang out with, would always say "what the fuck happened to the industrial revolution?"

8 hours of work, 8 hours of leisure, 8 hours of sleep. This notion of +50 hour work weeks is literally backwards. Anyone who tell you otherwise is not your friend and deserves to be shot.
