Terrible wallpaper edit but I was hoping it would look better.
Took the criticism from the previous thread to heart and I'll be making more adjustments down the way.
Will prob change wallpaper back as well, it just doesn't look as good.
>>
why do all /g/ desktops suck so much
>>
>>69301231
Yeah the filter on the wallpaper doesn't look too good. The original was a nice color that looks nice as it contrasts with the blue. The terminal is still lacking contrast, blue on blue will just not work.

How are you handling ads with Qutebrowser? I'm finding that the built in host blocker and my own Pi-hole setup doing DNS blacklisting doesn't stop stupid fucking youtube commercials. I set QB to spawn a mpv session for Youtube videos to circumvent this but its still annoying to have blocks of a webpage just empty or filled in incorrectly.

Debian must run like a charm on that. And minimal installs are perfect if you want i3 or whatever without a login manager like lightdm etc

Anyway, you're free to choose tho. Ubuntu in my mind has been bloatware/malware. Maybe not true, still a distro run by a private company.

Debian can run perfect and stable for years.

it does very shady stuff, if ads are malware, ubuntu is malware

Install it, it's easy to do so, there are youtube videos on how to do it properly if you don't feel confident or doesn't have experience on installing linux distros.

Just don't forget to install firmware-linux-nonfree for drivers.

If you really need to get things done, the cool thing about debian it's that is frozen, so you don't even need to install updates daily/weekly. Top feature if you're an student/worker, if you're a NEET that expends it's day running updates it's not fun.

This
4.9 will be supported till Jan 2023 which is even longer than newer LTS versions. It is also made before the COC apocalypse.
It's the "last straw" version for me and I will refuse to update to a newer major version and I will stop using Linux completely when 4.9 reaches EOL and exposes too much security issues.

Thanks, I think.
I think to bring desktop threads "back", each needs to have a main discussion topic so people learn to defend their tastes and attack others' tastes with at least a little bit of skill. Competition and having to defend yourself from attacks makes your bond with your desktop stronger and makes all desktops better in the end.

Like I said though, desktop threads were never good. There was just better desktops. The desktops need to improve, the posters themselves have and will always be shitposters.
>>
>>69322295
the reason desktops are stagnant is because the threads are so dead there is zero social pressure to be cool

It's a partial fork of 4Dwm from IRIX (SGI's Unix distro). There's a lot of history and legal bullshit behind it so it's closed source (for now at least). It runs on any 64-bit Linux distro. On Debian you'll also want to keep in mind that there are some old libraries that don't ship with it out of the box that you need for applications like winterm to even open, namely libtinfo6 and libXaw.

Get libtinfo6 as a .deb here: https://packages.debian.org/sid/libtinfo6

And for libXaw I can't find a .deb package so you'll need to compile from source. Just read the instructions contained in the archive. Look for "libXaw-1.0.13.tar.gz" here: https://www.x.org/releases/individual/lib/

The main desktop and installation instructions are here: http://maxxdesktop.arcadedaydream.com/Indy-Releases/Installers/

No problem. And now to save you a shitload of time. That little menu in the corner is called the Toolchest (read IRIX manpages on it if you're curious). It acts sort of as a start menu. Custom entries can be defined in your user's ~/.chestrc file. System-wide entries are defined in a file at /opt/MaXX/etc/system.chestrc. You can follow the basic syntax and add or remove applications. If you experience lag or freezing when opening a specific application you can change f.checkexec.sh.le to just f.exec and that'll open the program, just without sound or animations.

The rest of it is just MWM basically. So all the same dot files still apply for manipulating the window manager itself.

Ask her why she hasn't done X or Y in her life yet
Falsely accuse her of doing things she would never do (be those slutty things or even mundane shit)
Glare at/stare at her
Call her mean names based on her race, gender, sexuality, disabilities, etc
Sabotage her plans
Single her out in public situations, ask why she thought X or Y is acceptable
Encourage others to do any of the above

Bullying is fuckin easy, and I laugh at anyone who struggles to bully.
