If you want a homegym you need to start by building a platform which isnt pricey and then step 2 is buying a barbell. that will run you around 300 dollars if youre buying a good one and are serious about it. then you'll want to buy plates, you'll probably want bumpers and some metal plates

my jerk is coming along. today ive done a back squat single at 230, 135x3/4 powerclean without straps, 135x1+1+1 Powerclean plus push press plus jerk, and four sets of powerclean plus three jerks at 135. by the last set of my powerclean and jerks i was powercleaning with properly straight arms. ive got snatch triples without straps and deadlift left to do today

Anyone here done Glen Pendlay's Supertotal program as a complete beginner? I used to powerlift in HS but had to stop lifting in 2013.

I wouldn't really call it a routine, just that supertotal training usually means that instead of being good at pl or wl you end up mediocre at both. Considering that the classics are highly technical they require a lot of dedicated training, but it's not unusual for weightlifters to do a ton of pulling and squatting.

So basically a good weightlifter will already be good at snatch, cj, and squats. This leaves dl, which you already sort of train through clean/snatch pull (and can just do sumo or something if your clean pull/conventional sucks) and bench, which many weightlifters do (e.g. klokov benches 200+, Okulov does 180, etc) as tricep/chest assistance, you would just do a higher volume.

I wouldn't say I have a routine for it, just that weightlifting is about getting passable technique and simultaneously trying to get strong as shit. Considering powerlifting already includes squats, that just leaves pull and bench, which you can treat as your strength building assistance work and dedicate lots of volume to after doing lower intensity on classics (snatching for example is only ever up to around 70% of your max squat and not really a huge stressor). Again this is all personal experience and chatting to strong dudes but it is the most logical way of training imo

Maintaining mobility from childhood goes a long way but doing mobility work and heavy lifting in proper ranges of motion are the only ways to get so mobile. its genetic too. There are videos on the internet and sources online on how to learn the lifts, theres also books that are pretty good for learning. most people will tell you to get a coach though.

Weightlifting is more intimidating to start. The movements are complex and if you don't know how to do them properly you can easily get injured. I've tried learning to clean and snatch, but it feels awkward and I can't get it right without a coach which I don't want to pay for.

Powerlifting is easy to start and do by yourself because it's just simple compound movements anyone can easily learn by themselves.

I like going to the gym alone and simply lifting the highest weight I can without worrying about technicalities too much (good form is obviously important).

Turns out they don't have providers in Aus. I met the national wl team physio here and he just gave me a bunch of banded work. Don't think it did anything but I forced myself to take 6 months off anything but bar work and bodybuilding and I'm coping ok so far. Second week back training now, haven't gone above 70/90 yet
