Not sure if this is the right board for this, please redirect me if it's not.

I've finally got a place of my own and I'll be moving into it in a couple of months. I'm into really traditional country house style interiors but would like some ideas as to how I could spice the aesthetic up just a little. I like the "crowded" feel but that will come with time as trinkets accumulate organically.

I have a relatively large living space with a fireplace, and dining area which bleeds into a small open plan kitchen. There is also a small hall in the area that opens out into the bedrooms.

Pic related and the two below are examples of the "trad" style I grew up around and would like to take as a starting point to tweak. Thanks in advance for any tips.

>>
>>14461121
It's a bit camp, of course, but I wouldn't say it looks in any way remotely "royal" or even lordly or anything, I honestly just associate it with my grandfather's hunting lodge. Are you American?

>>14461105
Yeah this may be a bit much. I'm not into the Orientalisms (the carpet, dressers and the vases atop the mantelpiece) and I certainly can't afford a Medieval tapestry.

Nah, he's right. Preempting it a little but in these threads there's inevitably a coterie of tasteless fags telling people that they have or suggesting others get high res photographs of artworks printed out.

I've been acquiring prints that catch my eye from local printmakers (that is to say numbered prints using actual printmaking techniques instead of photocopies) for very little as they often undervalue their work. If you look around you can get art that you like for a price that is competitive with the inevitable 4channeller's large print of Der Autismuser über dem Nebelmeer blutacked to their dorm room wall.

Maybe get rid of that wall of wood. Take what's good and build a single wall of it. Just one idea. Lots of work if you do it alone.
>>
>>14466559
>>14466541
I was thinking of painting the wood dark gray. Then the brick black with checkered tile. Giving it a bit of a gothic feel. Then fill it with gold accents and antiques. Painting it would change it completely and not be something difficult. I think the big window will bring in enough light so it won't seem as dark with the paint. Or am i wrong?

I cant wait to be wealthy (never ever), so I can live in a murky, secluded, labyrinthine swamp-mansion with hanging greens, long dark hallways and ponds everywhere.

>tfw all I have is my memory-mansion
