>>14093205I don't like watches that look like other, more expensive watches
Picked this up and started wearing it a few weeks ago. Missing the date that I got so used to having on my previous watch. Other than that, I'm loving it a lot.
He blocked me baka thought pajeet 24/7 live chat salesmen would love that shit

Please no bully but is this a real Rolex or a fake and how can I tell ?

>>14093292looks fine but it can be very hard to tell
>go to sell some coins at a new store I haven't been to before>place has coins, collectibles, watches>guy behind the counter and I shoot the shit about some watches>he's wearing a breitling chrono with a second breitling quartz built into the bracelet>we both make fun of grand seiko>make more money on the coins than I thought I wouldI think I found a new place to regular
>>14093292>how can I tellTake to any jeweler in town that carries fine watches.
>>14093330Not my thing, but at least they aren't trying to make a budget version of someone else's design
just put the dial & hands on this 6r15 and slapped it in a SKX case. not settled on chapter ring for this watch yet. Thoughts?
>>14093292Nothing obvious wrong with it externally but the only way to be 100% sure is to open the back and check the movement. That's why >>14093367 is correct, take it to an AD find out.
>>14093392>>14093379IDK, I'm kinda diggin' it.
>>14093405why not do a good-looking mod?
>>14093411>good-lookingyikes. well, you can do your own mod in whatever flavor you want. It's a fun hobby
>>14093274Prepare yourself for missing a lot of dates with that thing.
Am I doing it right?
>>14093379Would look good if the fucking dial wasn't so freakishly small. You can't remove chapter ring can you? Get a plain black perhaps.
>>14093572yeah, I can easily press the crystal out and change the chapter ring. Just haven't settled on a chapter ring that would match the dial yet. Plain brushed steel in there now.The dial is the same size as all SKX and other automatic seiko dials, but the typical seiko chapter rings have the minute hash marks.
Any strap recommendations?

thoughts on the Seiko srpa27k1?
>>14093595I dunno bro, it's a hard one, get some photo editing software and play around. I think plain black would be okay, shitty mspaint related.
what should i get for my first watch? im thinking of seiko SKX007, SNK809 or something similiar
>>14093265I never got the point of having more than one of the same model. I get the different colors, but doesn't it get boring?
>>14093379I like that dial, the fonts and the color combinations look beautiful. The trident strap looks nice too
Can someone explain to me why the Seiko Alpinist is a meme other than the resale market for them?
>>14093606What is that called and where can I buy it?
>>14093614Looks like a copy of the Bambino. Pretty conservative choice; nothing really wrong with it, but nothing particularly exciting.
>>14093805Elektronika 52b. I coped mine on eBay.
My vintage sieko quartz, 80% sure this is a women’s watch
>>14093880Not a women’s, unless your wrist size in that pic is 4.5”.
Is 50meters water resistance good enough for rain and tap water? I wash my hand a lot. Thinking of picking up a hamilton khaki field mechanical.
Can anyone identify Depp's watch?
>>14093811Seiko...copying Bambino? I think you've got it flipped, m8Seiko has been around for a long time, making watches that looked like that one since way before Orient.
>>14093811Either low effort bait or very newfag.
>>14094013Probably something as memey as he is
All comments are complaining that the new Hamilton Murph watch is too big. Every one has a copy pasted comment from Hamilton saying it’s the exact size of the one in the film.
>>14093679My first 'proper' watch was an SKX009, so I would get whichever SKX you prefer. There's so many maids that you can switch it around if you get bored. Here's what mine looks like now.
>>14093880It's not a women's watch, it's a tank style dress watch. Also get a strap that fits, it's probably a 20mm lug width if it's the same as mine.
>>14093446I still have a phone.
>>14093606How's the backlight on that?
I know it's been asked a couple of times recently, but I'm interested in getting a G10. Seems they aren't really a specific interest of any of the regular posters, but if you have coma across any articles rounding up options from different manufacturers that would be good.

post a sexier chronograph than the Seiko RAF gen1. You can't do it.
Hey, a new fag here. I'm in finances and almost everyone around me flexes their Pateks and Rolexes. However there's something new money and competetive about it and I feel that once you've entered this game there's no way out and there's always going to be a bigger fish (or a rich trust fund kid). Is there such thing like a nonflashy watch that will be respected regardless? Do I need to go niche? Budget: £10-20k.
>>14094525I talk here about people who banter openly for wearing e.g. Tag Heuer. I know that it's wicked, don't @ me
>>14094525Do you mean 10 quid to 20k quid or 10k to 20k quid?
>>14094525Don't buy a watch solely because your coworkers spend their money on watches you fucking retard
>>14094535First I would say that you shouldn't buy a watch out of peer pressure. Buy one if you actually are interested in mechanical watches.Second, if you want a formal watch, buy a vintage IWC IWC Portuguese. If you want something more "rugged", get a smaller 40mm or less vintage IWC pilot.
>>14094542I like Portuguese more. This one is non flashy and classy, I could pull trigger on it. What are my other options?
>>14094542>>14094558Just looked up other IWCs and golden IWC Portofino is even better. Thoughts? Also how the brand is regarded among watchheads?
>>14094564Modern day IWC aren't held in as high esteem as their older watches from the 80's and 90's. So if you like the look, look for a mint condition or NOS watch on chrono24.
>>14094558>>14094564If they’re strapping Pateks on their wrists, they’ll look down on IWC. Fuck with them with an A. Lange und Söhne. Saxonia or 1815. Very well respected and very well worth the money. If you want to go big boy, throw in some more cash and get a Lange 1.
>>14094568anyone with any real respect for swiss watchmaking who isn't a mad cunt will respect a mint old stock IWC.
>>14094574Poster made it sound like the guys are just strapping Pateks for the status and not it’s horological value.
>>14094566Thx, that's really valuable info. >>14094568I like Saxonia and 1815 thanks. A Lange seems to be a little over the top for my tastes, but again, I'm a newb. Should I go vintage, any particular periods? The price range seem to be wider here stretching from 10k to more than I initially wanted to spent.
>>14094525If you really want to dunk on those guys, go to David Duggan in Burlington Arcade and ask to see some Urban Jürgensen watches. He's their London dealer.UJ watches are completely hand made, with even finer finishing than Patek. UJ only makes a little over 100 watches a year and are mainly sold to collectors. Modern day watchmaking doesn't really get better.
>>14094581>>14094579https://www.daviddugganwatches.co.uk/urban-jurgensen/Urban Jürgensen are a league above most modern day Pateks.
>>14094579Wearing ALS says a lot about you. Quiet wealth, loves fine, fine watchmaking, has good taste overall. A Lange piece is understated but if you know, you just know. You can never go wrong with a Lange, old or new there’s really no particular “period” with ALS.
>>14094587>>14094581http://ninanet.net/watches/others07/Mediums/mUJ.htmlIncredible photographs of UJ watch here.
>>14094525https://www.urbanjurgensen.com/legacy/craftsmanshipYou won't see much of this type of craftsmanship in Pateks or Vacheron watches.
>>14094579Adding to this >>14094590, the magic really shows when you turn over a Lange piece. Through the sapphire display back, you’ll see warm, lively German silver plates, the wonderfully blued screws holding down the traditional gold chatons with red rubies. See the balance cock? That’s hand engraved, there’s only six, six people at ALS that does the hand engraving. And you also get all the other „standard” but perfectly executed finishing. Anglage which is the bevelling of edges, Perlage which is the circular graining, the Glashütte stripes, black polish, solarised graining and etc. It’ll make you smile knowing that that’s just right on your wrist.
>>14094606ALS movements are beautiful, but it's sad their dials, hands, and cases are all stamped. No real handwork there.
>>14094617Muh stamped. Do you think everything comes out perfect and done after stamping? They all get hand finished you mong.
>>14094581>>14094590>>14094606Holy fuck you sperg faggots make me cringe
>>14094581>>14094587That's not the far from my office. I'll pay him a visit. These UJ are looking great.>>14094590>>14094606You're great salesman dude. I meant 1 Lang is over the top. I dig all the others.>>14094574>>14094575Status is one of factors in game here. I will buy something that I like in first place but since I'm new to this, then I'm aware that my taste is not worth much yet. The same way a person who has never seen a car could think that an F1 bolid or a monster truck is the best car out there.
>>14094629Enjoy your 50$ Seiko faggot.
>>14094617>>14094624What's the stamped/nonstamped chat here? Giggling doesn't show up any results
>>14094635nope nice try
>>14094638Ok, so take the hands of the watch. On 99% of all watches, they are stamped out of sheet metal. If they are blued, they are usually blued with paint or chemically.UJ hands are forged, precision fitted from three parts, and thermally blued, resulting in a more dramatic hue. All of this is done by hand.https://www.urbanjurgensen.com/legacy/craftsmanship/hands
>>14094634David Duggan is a good guy, he knows his stuff. If status is indeed a factor, you won't find much better than UJ watches. Much rarer and much more hand made than almost anything else on the market. If Patek is Ferrari, then UJ would be closer to something like a Pagani. Both great cars, but one is certainly more of a handmade object than the other, especially in terms of the finer details. Rarer too.
>>14094634I understand, the Lange 1 can be a bit too overwhelming for some, especially with its outsize date but everyone respects the Lange 1. Any Lange piece is a status symbol so you already got that covered, with other brands such as Patek, it can seem a bit new money and tasteless even though a Patek isn’t really *just* a Patek. The problem lies with new rich people giving it that „glow”, especially when you’ve got niggers wrapping about their diamond encrusted Pateks. Lange just has the right balance. It’s understated enough for the wearer not to appear braggadocious while also having all the „flexing” power that comes with other brands and at the same time saying fuck you, I have taste without having to say that verbally. Watch this video on a visit to Lange’s manufacture in Germany, play it on 1,25 or 1,5x if you want to power through it. You’ll see how much work gets put into making a single Lange watch. https://youtube.com/watch?v=DGAsib-4mCk
>>14094268I'm glad you asked because I never tested it when I picked it up....and it's pretty shit. I don't expect much from a digital that was made in the 80's.
>>14094659Simply put, Lange isn’t obnoxiously flashy but once you spot it on someone’s wrist it commands respect.
>>14094671Lange movements are indeed amazing, I just can't get over the uninteresting same case design for every watch.
>>14093713Not at all. I really like them. I bought the blue and black watches. My girlfriend bought me the jade and orange ones.
>>14094606A Lang is the only super high end brand that isn't gay AF desu
>>14094659>>14094671>once you spot it on someone’s wrist it commands respect.Only from autistic fucks like you. Real men don't wear or give a shit about jewelry. You sound like the biggest fucking tool.

Since we're in this topic, what's the word on Breguet and Vacheron then?
>>14094725both rapidly going downhill, especially in the design departmentNo point at all in buying anything new from them. Buy from 1990 and earlier.
>>14094725Breguet started cutting corners in their dial guilloche process. Instead of using silver, which results in cleaner are sharper lines, they are using gold. Gold is easier to carve, resulting in a cheaper and faster process, but at the cost of visual clarity.

>>14094745The difference between gold and silver’s hardness is marginal and a cut is a cut, a carve is a carve in metal. The type of metal doesn’t affect legibility of engravements. Stop repeating brainlet tier comments from WUS.
>>14094772I hope you are joking with that photo. Absolutely tasteless novelty garbage.
>>14094780Fuck owning anything nice right comrade?
>>14094786I’m not a huge fan of the dial but what Vacheron has achieved is not easy.
>>14094793Movement wise, sure, amazing stuff. But a watch is much more than just a movement. The AP 11:59 movements are really great, but the watches are complete trash.
>>14094797You’re completely ignoring what’s been achieved because of the dial and completely saying they’re going downhill because of it. You do know dials can be changed right? You’re also completely disregarding the fact that this double oscillating system advancement can be introduced in other models as well. That’s not what I consider going downhill.
>>14094805Most people don't buy based on movements. They buy on how it looks.Their sales are down and they don't know how to manage their retail.
>>14094810You’re too shortsighted to see Vacheron isn’t actually going downhill as you say.
>>14094825We'll see in 10 years.

>>14093811Yeah it's similar to the Bambino, but I like the hour markers better on this one. Also, this one is 42mm, I believe the Bambino is 41mm. Both might be a bit big maybe? It's fucking hard to find watches in the 33-38mm range. I have a quite skinny wrist, should I buy this watch?

You damn well know Seiko copies Swiss designs and it’s not just that copy in the op pic. This is the reputation of Seiko, a shitter brand that produces cheap watches, by extension Grand Seiko receives the same perception. They tried to cut it off by removing Seiko on the dial, instead of Seiko Grand Seiko, new models are now just Grand Seiko. But it still doesn’t work because there’s still SEIKO on the fucking dial. >>14095536Seconding this question. Does it make sense to get on their waiting lists just for a sake of reselling watches after you get to buy one? I assume that presence of waiting lists show that there's a higher demand than supply hence the watches should trade above the retail price. Am I being wrong here? >>14095913There is nothing to make it not ok.
>>14095918it's a waste of space
>>14095916yeah sure oh I just love having 4+ different fonts on the dial of my expensive watch.
>>14095925Post space doesn't matter. Only post count.Waste doesn't mean anything when there is infinite of it.
>>14095929>>14095925>>140959164 different fonts on 1 dialno thanks weeb
>>14095928I hear that. I won’t own any watch that has less than a paragraph of text on the dial.
>>140959335 fonts on 1 dialjesus christ
>>14095916That’s hella pretty. This is the model I’m currently saving my pennies for.
Not all of us. It’s the söyko weebs, I mean just look at this sad “collection”. Purely wannabe Swiss watches apart from the Casio.
>>14095943SeikoGS - Grand SeikoHi-BeatGMTJapanall different fontswhat the fuck
>>14095888You're an a retrearded
SEIKO GSGRAND SEIKO SPECIALJust lol.
>>14095963They should remove either the GS or the GRAND SEIKO. No reason to have both.
>>14095952“But it says Grand on the dial”
>>14094013Jesus people, please cut up your trash. Otherwise this is what happens when Johnny Depp goes rooting around in it.
>>14095984Do you not see how your “Grand Seiko” grail is barely distinguishable from a regular Seiko apart from the word Grand?
>>14095970I hear what you are saying, I mean the SARB is supposed to be the “baby gs” so I mean it should look similar. But I don’t want that model. But still SARB has no signed crown. Bracelet ain’t nearly as nice. The gs I posted has better lume. And that specific gs can be had for just 200$ more than the SARB.
>>14094763I found this, CWC weren't the only supplier, Precista and also Pulsar ( the Pulsars were dogs) were officially issued. https://www.arrse.co.uk/wiki/G10_WatchesI found reference to MWC G10 style watches on another article being preferred for their chunkiness, more in line with contemporary aesthetics, but they must have been personal purchases rather than official procurement. So if, like you said, I wanted "an interesting and historical" service watch a Precista would also be an option, but considering that less were issued the CWC would fit the main intent of a beater field watch.
>>14095991S H E N Z H E N S P E C I A L>>14096011I don’t familiarise myself on brands I’ll never want on my wrist but if that thing you said about pricing is true, Grand Seiko will never be truly considered high end. The state of the japs lmao. FHH’s white paper on fine watchmaking is true.
Low IQ people won't spot it
>>14096012but considering less of the Precista were issued the CWC would better fit the main intent*
>>14096023Price I gave on that model is for a used one that is oop. I hope they aren’t considered “high end” for a long time, gives me a chance to find that one and a few others I want for cheap lol.
Any anons here wear vintage 40s/ 50s/ 60s watches everyday?
>>14096043Lol you don’t have to worry when there’s literally brand new Grand Seikos being sold for 40% off. FORTY percent off.
>>14096053So...what? You don’t like saving money? Lmao
>>14096061If you can’t see the problem with that...
>>14096066I was joking bro, chill. I mean u make it sound like I am only allowed to like a watch if I either have to be on a waiting list to get it or buy it on the grey market at an inflated rate.
>>14096084People who are into Swiss watches are basically like women into jewelry
>>14096103Does posting that make you feel like a real man?
>>14096009Do you not see how dogshit all of the swatch group is? Even a Seiko 5 is better than all of their brands.
>>14095907It's not from /wt/, yes there are many shitters among the budget options. At least it's good as a quick look through for new people
Opinions on the Longines Lindbergh? Absolute ghastly shitter or potentially worth buying?
>>14096187If only they put a few more numbers on that dial, then it would be worth buying.
>>14095270>being this mad no one likes your MVMT Laughing eternally
Are Junkers junk?
>>14096219They are both fags.
Crap or not?
>>14095953What’s the Royal Oak rip off?
Anyone have any experience with these watches?
>>14096471Some clues in their name. They’ll make you wait. Read some reviews on reddit.
>>14096477Thanks for the heads up.>>14096478So... are they shit?
>>14096485Do you really need to ask?https://imgur.com/a/6CNO8
heres mine r8 it
>>14096582Don't like it. But then again I find myself hardly liking any watches, it's very tiresome just looking and looking for a watch to buy but never finding one I like. I think I'll just fucking take whatever because I'm so tired of it.
>>14096595i feel you dude. it would be easy to get a watch if I wore a suit everyday
Why is it so hard to find small men's watches that are simple yet elegant? Like in the video. Why does it all have to be so big and blingy these days?https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=111&v=ylpOO-7cyt0
>>14095954*logo*TUDORGENEVE |Day|PELAGOSCHRONOMETEROFFICIALLY CERTIFIED ROTOR SELF-WINDING500m-1640ftSWISS MADEAll on one dial.
>>14096496Delusional old lady robber a best
>>14096649The Pelagos is based though. It's Tudor's best looking watch
>>14096762No companies best looking watch should have a literal paragraph of text on the dial. You can’t deny if they got rid of all that text, that it would be 10x cleaner.
>>14096879I never made the claim that the Seiko had too much text, just that they need to stick to 2 fonts max.
>>14095928>>14095936I only count three. And the post-2017 dial only has two.
>>14095970Go hold them side by side in your hand.By your logic, a Philippe Dufour movement has the same finishing as a Nomos.
>>14096649Based.>>14096762Because dial literature doesn't matter THAT much if it works. But it's true that GS dials have improved IMMENSELY since the 2017 design where they removed the SEIKO from the top of the dial and put the "GS - Grand Seiko" at the top instead.>>14095954Post-2017 dials are much better. Perfect even.Be sure to check out the little shadows on the little black numerals and markers.
>>14097085It’s still a Seiko lol.
I find it funny how none of the nipon banzai weeb autists never post their own GS wrist shots. Oh wait, that's because they don't own one.
>>14097091Yes, it's still a watch by the most vertically integrated watch company in the world, with several decades of history and heritage on the likes of Rolex, from a country that is monocultural and staunchly anti-immigration.How will Seikoboys ever cope.
>>14097096You realise you sound like such a fucking weeb right? What a bunch of cope. You söyko anime weebs purposely ignore brand perception, constantly in denial of their shitter status.
>>14097104Do you even know what a weeb is?>You söyko anime weebs purposely ignore brand perceptionHow so?
>>14097104>caring about "brand perception"Get a load of this insecure cuck.
>>14093205wait, is that real? Or did someone just photoshop a Seiko dial on a Rolex?
>>14097118I can already see him at some social event, trying to swing his arm into view so everyone can check out his cookie-cutter Rolex, desperately reading people's faces for that spark of recognition.
>>14097125It's a Seiko 5 SNXJ89All the shitter brands copy Rolex at some point.
>>14097118Imagine having anime shit saved on your devices. Lol @ your life. Of course you don’t care about brand perception, your opinion doesn’t matter, weeb.
>>14097133>saying this on an anime website owned by an actual fucking nip
>>14097118You care about brand perception when it means a GS loses over 40% of it's value as soon as you buy one new.
I want a high quality watch that doesn't have an inflated price because of the brand. Does something exist for under $1,000 that is very high in quality? I like Stowa but that's at $1,000. If it isn't copying a luxury watch, that would be even better. I want a good build quality with good materials, not a brand.
>>14097125Seiko is a cope brand for poorfags. As much as they want to shit on Seiko, they sure do like to wear Seiko copies of their design. Just look at this >>14095953. A Submariner copy, a DayDate copy, an AP Royal Oak Copy, and finally a GMT Master copy. Glorious Banzai Japan Seiko is like the chinks, but they’re slightly embarrassed by outright replicating European designs.
>>14097096Seiko has such a shit brand perception that older Grand Seiko models with the Seiko-GS-Grand Seiko dials are selling for 40% off brand spanking new, boxes and papers. That’s a tremendous failure as a brand.
>>14097151>nomos>under $1000Maybe if you hunt around for one of the old non in-house models used on chrono24 or something.
>>14097139>buying a watch for the resale valueHow poor can you be?
>>14097148>the Swiss don't copy off each other to a ridiculous extenthooo boy
>>14097153>old stock is sold at a discountWow, what an absolutely stunning surprise.
>>14097148>Submariner copy, a DayDate copy, an AP Royal Oak Copy, and finally a GMT Master copyAre you blind? Only one of those is even Japanese; the Seiko. And the Submariner itself copied key elements from Blancpain's Fifty Fathoms, Zodiac Sea Wolf, etc.
>>14097157If someone can afford a GS it's safe to say they aren't poor to start with. Not losing half their money on purchase means they remain not poor.> resale valueWhen people spend that much on a watch it matters. Most serious collectors flip their watches so it matters. Those people than buy watches as an investment, it matters.
>>14097169Even lawyeranon, whose watch collection is more than a quarter million, will tell you that buying watches as an investment is retarded.
>>14097170So what? Many people still buy watches for that reason even if they are mostly idiots.
>>14097169If you have to even consider resale value, you can't afford the watch.
>>14097173Why even bother bringing it up if only idiots do it, and it's shown to not be reliable whatsoever?
New thread: >>14097181>>14097181>>14097181
You Seiko weebs would absolutely be pouncing on high-end European brands if they sold for 40% off, full set + warranty old model or not. >>14097160Old stock doesn’t apply to watches, that’s why European NOS watches fetch a goddamned premium. Face it, 40% off brand new is extremely embarrassing for a brand that’s trying to be considered as high-end.
>>14097178> I've got $8k to spend on a watch> I can spend it on a GS and if I want to sell it in a few years I can get $4k for it if I'm lucky enough to even find a buyer.> I can spend it on a Rolex and if I want to sell it in a few years I can get at least $7k and a buyer the next dayIt's nothing to do with if you can afford the watch or not.
>>14097169>Most serious collectors flip their watchesThere's so much retardation in this single phrase I don't know where to begin, fucking lmao."Collectors" of anything other than maybe weapons are generally pathetic human beings. They want constant newness to get that high, much like women like to go shopping and children constantly want new toys. They also tend to engage in this collecting because they have no other discernable skill or interest of their own, so they fill the gap by simply paying for other people's skills and talents. And "flippers" are even worse, chasing that newness high without actually being able to afford it.And then there's the fact that collectors collect, and flipping is pretty much the opposite of that.
>>14097185>Old stock doesn’t apply to watchesSource?>that’s why European NOS watches fetch a goddamned premiumNo they don't.
>>14097191You are completely clueless. Collectors do flip their watches. Collectors buy watches to sell to get their final grail, almost all collectors do this, not just watch enthusiasts.
>>14097194Exactly this. I was in a second hand watch shop the other day and someone brought in 80 watches to sell and every single one was worth many thousands. It was only part of his collection.
>>14097193Yeah okay, go buy NOS Speedmasters or 1680s, let’s see if them being “old stock” will get you a 40% off including boxes, papers and warranty.
>>14097517Nice cope. Does it come in anything smaller than 48mm?
>>14097104Better than being obsessed with brand perception because that's all you have.
