What company was making that sexy new quartz movement which was super accurate? Citizen maybe?
>>13902777Yeah it is Citizen, still no watches with that movement though.
RepostingMy dad's just been given these watches after a family friend passed away, I know nothing of watches and would love to see what you guys thought of his collection. We're prob not going to sell them.

>>13902782The Omegas are pretty neat, but nothing crazy.I'd look into getting them restored (but not redialed), just cleaned and maybe replacing necessary parts, but that's just mainly because I enjoy vintage pieces more than new ones.Got a better pic of the strapless watch?

about 5 threads new here.so a $300 shitter does the same thing as a $15k Rolex. and a $250 skx007 does the same thing as a $10k grand Seikobesides simply buying something because you like how it looks, at what price point are people just getting memed over quality?and don't do that car comparison crap. you can really tell and actually feel the difference with different quality and tiers of cars. a watch freaking sits on your wrist (or from what I can see in this thread just in boxes). it's not like it's something you are actively experiencing

Explorer 1 is best watch
>>13903530>no date complicationNah, but close
>>13903192It looks pretty much just like a sub, but it's not, it's got a "different" kind of thing going for it. I usually hate oversized watches, but the 16600 is huge for a reason; it's ridiculously overbuilt.
>>13903544Date is completely unnecessary
>>13903561Help me understand because I like the aesthetics in say the no date submariner or oyster perpetual, but it just seems so plain, to have a watch that JUST tells time (diver bezel can do elapsed time but besides that, I'm talking the movement). I feel like having one complication helps, with date being the most obvious first complication.
>>13903583There is beauty in simplicity I find the date complication to be superfluous and frankly annoying. The explorer 1 looks understated and would be ruined with a date
will size the H link bracelet in a few days
>>13902873I have one. Great lume otherwise not too exceptional of a quartz. Keeps time, is light. Had some issues with a battery replacement but they put the wrong one in. Apparently these are very picky about which battery is used.

>>13903848>>13903917Unusual choice, was it a gift?
>>13904169Nope. I had specifically been wanting a Blancpain for a while because I love the look and craftsmanship of them. I look at a few different watches, but kept coming back to the Leman Grande Date. Not sure why I was drawn to this one in particular, but I guess I just really like the simplicity of it.

>>13904428I hope I don't get arse raped by customs when my SCED019 is delivered. I got Buyee to mark it as a gift & a measuring instrument, so fingers crossed.
>>13904689I can’t see them doing that. I’ve found Japanese people the least likely to break the law ever. Especially as a company like Buyee.
Customer brought in an SKX today. The links that connect the endlinks to the rest of the bracelet got stretched out somehow, gotta bend those back. So anyway it's kind of a larger watch that I though from photos, it's actually a nice man-size diver. Here it is next to a 36mm Pre-Bond, and a first-gen Amphibia wreck for scale. Didn't have any more recent divers on me for comparison.
>>13904709What are the rarest pieces you've worked on? Anything you're fond of?
>>13904757Nothing really rare, more like obscure, forgotten vintage shitters, probably with lower production runs. Right now working on this Swiss-made Royce Mexico, pretty obscure, there's almost no data on it on the web. It looks like an experiment of using as much plastic as possible in the watch. Nylon case, thick plastic crystal (doesn't feel like normal acrylic), and even the dial is injection-molded plastic, which is completely unusual. Only metal parts are hands, the Swiss handwinding AS movement, the crown and the stem.
>>13904705They've already done it, you can edit what gets printed onto the form. They put the full amount paid on still though so I'm not sure if it will work.
>>13904818Fuck. Wish I knew this.
Just found out they still make replica 36mm Explorers and non-maxicase subs...Tempted as fuck.
>>13904874Also, they're proper 316 stainless steel with sapphire crystals.../wt/ lead me to believe reps were shit...
>>13904904You're easily impressed. The chinks make replacement sapphire crystals for like $10-$15.
Good morning wtThe Bulova accuquartz was a too little, too late effort from Bulova to adapt to the quartz crisis. It's essentially a Bulova 218 tuning fork watch retrofitted with a quartz timing package - instead of running at the fork's natural frequency, the driving coils force it to run at 341hz, regulated by a 32khz quartz crystal. The geartrain is mostly parts-comoatible with the 218; only one wheel is changed to account for the different fork frequency. In particular, the 320-tooth index wheel is parts compatible. Like many watches of the period (Seiko, longines, jlc, GP, others), it includes a geometric representation of a quartz crystal on the dial.

New SNK809, the black one to use as a quickwear. Can't for the life of me decide on a leather 2 piece strap color or NATO strap to replace the crapper currently on it. Trying to match to the black, silver, white and red second tip. Any standouts or suggestions?
>>13904989Perhaps the brand's name is not great. But when you buy (or not) a watch because the name, maybe it's because you are dumb af, no offense. Sapphire glass, stainless steel case, automatic movement with transparent caseback and one of the most iconic designs for 50€. I would say it's a great deal, but I am not a expecting to convince people who don't even care about doing some research about what they criticize.

>>13906633Eh...three of the same thing? It's not my cup-o-tea, to be honest. I hate having duplicates unless I expect something to wear out or have to be replaced. Granted, if you love the design, then why not.I find these days I simply don't have time for more than 2 watches max in the rotation. The other ones just don't get worn, and sadly I don't miss them. Even my secondary only gets worn because it's a chronograph...but for no other reason. I like it, don't get me wrong...but my primary is the one I trust in all circumstances. So, three of the same watch would be overkill for me.

how soon is too soon to buy a new watch after just receiving one in the mail?
Mk IV Red Sub
>>13907107Maximum aesthetic. Rolex really fucked up with the current enlarged Sub.
>>13907106If you haven't a sold watch after that, 6 months. When you sell a watch, you can buy another.
>>13907151how many watches should you own before considering selling some?
>>13905865Thanks for the laugh, nice watch too.Pisser.
>>13902782That Seamaster is a fucking beaut. Get it serviced and wear the shit out of it.
>>13903099Get a Pixel
>>13907231Looks good. Some of the Recrafts are pretty cool
>>13902739W2c something similar to this?
>>13904544It wears like a 45 mm seiko
>>13902984So much this, why did Seiko start making their watches so big? It seems odd because Japanese watches were traditionally a bit slimmer.
>>13903099Mate 20 Pro or pixel 3 if you want a bangin' camera, OnePlus 6t for good performance per dollar, nubiaX for something interesting, honor magic 2 for an admittedly cool and useful gimmick. There's options
I'm looking for an automatic watch with a Moon phase dial and window into the movement on the main dial. Preferably no other complications, and I hate gawdy shit. No budget, just looking for a quality watch that meets my criteria. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
New Teddy is up!Post your horological gfs.https://youtu.be/DhnTlvKCsYQ
>>13907414>Open heart>I hate gaudy shitChoose 1
>>13904769weird how something named after mexico would be plastic, cheap and shitty
>>13907461So now even the cuck bulbasaur is gf posting. When are you going to get a gf anon?>Dat rack though fuck
>>13907478Never, though I kinda need one as an excuse to also start collecting vintage women's watches.
>>13907462I mean gawdy as in there's jewels all over the bezel or there's so much patterning you can barely read the time, a little window isn't much.
>>13907064It's an automatic. Bothers me the most is no sapphire but with all the seiko fags, chances are you're fine with ithttps://www.longislandwatch.com/Seagull_1963_Chronograph_p/6488-2901.htm
>>13907512>It's an automaticWhat
>>13907520My bad, mechanical. My mind was on it not being quartz
>>13907524Makes sense, since there are no automatic quartz watches
What is this? It only says Yakuza Japan. Can you give me some more specific id? It is kinda old, but I have no idea how old.
>>13907594Its a shitter that's what it is.Some chink watch with the yakuza word slapped onto it to gain attention, that is all.Kill yourself

>>13907783You're the kind of guy who's gonna off himself first. Such a sad individual.
>>13908133imagine being this insecure
>>13908120How much are they?Left if 300 or under
>>13908272Left 400gbpRight 500gbpIt’s hardlex and really seems expensive for what it is from what I’ve read but it’s new and limited and I’m pretty sure the price is just due to it being the closest look alike I can get to grand seiko as a poorfag
>>13908120Right seems more interesting but power reserve is only a helpful complication if you have multiple watches.
>>13908378Wait and save up for a speedmaster like every drone in here.
I need a watch that will be useful for Army life. I've been in for over a year and don't have a watch. Please /fa/ help me out. I need something with form and function.
>>13908400They don’t assign you one?
>>13908378>500 poundsJust get a vintage King Seiko Chronometer instead desu
>>13908403Nope, in basic I bought like a $20 that ended during my final FTX, I hit the ground and I guess the weight of my ruck crushed it.
>>13908120Get all 4, lad.
>>13908378If I were you I'd check Christopher Ward watches on sale at their site. 500-600GBPIf you really want the Seiko, maybe you can have one shipped from here, I forget the import duty limit in the UK but it might be worth ithttps://www.longislandwatch.com/articles.asp?ID=57>>13908390Because all the seiko, russian and other garbage fags here aren't drones
>>13908414Yeah? And what are you?
>>13908400It's the Army, function will win out every time. Get a separate dress watch if you want something that looks good.
>>13908407Basic g shock square
>>13908420Alright, fair enough. Got anything for function then? I'm a mechanic so I need durability too.>>13908421I hate G-shock, so anything else?
Should I cop a Timex?
>>13908424It’s good enough for Jack Ryan.

>>13908460He doesn’t like gay-shocks, you dense homo.
>>13908451Thank you based god
>>13908258I've become convinced that these people don't even own watches, and certainly don't own the things they themselves wouldn't call shitters.
