Not boots but Goodyear welted shoes related. What are some dress shoes that that go with a suit but I can dress down to wear with chinos or even jeans maybe? >>13895705care comes in two wayspolishing and conditioning depends in part on the kind of leather they're made out of, style of shoe etc., but I guess you're talking about not wanting shiny wax polish (what's sold as generic "shoe polish" everywhere, trash like kiwi etc.)you'd be right to avoid that; wax polish is for the toes of dress shoes to give them that mirror shine and solely that for the most part (avoid kiwi like the plague if you're looking for wax anyway) what you want instead is "shoe cream" in the same colour as the shoessome will make leather more shiny than others, but they won't be that mirror shine depends on how much you buff afterwards cream's just for putting the colour back into scuffs etc., some will lightly condition, but depending on your use case this mild conditioning might not be enoughI prefer to condition shoes separately with dedicated conditioner: this shit has no dye like the cream, it's pure moisturiser for leather because as it's dead skin it can't moisturise itself anymoreand moisturise you must to help stage of drying and cracks in the long term (in conjunction with the other two pillars of shoe longevity trifecta: trees and rotation) depending on what conditioner, you'll be matt or more satiny shine (depends on what kind of leather you're looking to put it on) of you want a more "beat up" look, ie. you don't mind discoloured scuffs and shit and just want leather care, look to conditionercream's for colour wax for the final toe bull shine on dressbe warned that conditioners will most likely darken the leather to some extent, depending on which one you use (some worse than others in this respect) might lighten again with wear, might not (mine never have) so beware when you condition light coloured leather like tan and the like if you want to keep light leathers that exact lightness then one of the mildly conditioning shoe creams is probably enough for normal use

Guys. It's December and where I live that means snow. I got no winter shoes. But I really need them asap. I'm at a loss because I don't know what to buy, where to buy it or nothing.I know I need boots that aren't too bulky/big because of my skinny body figure and skinny as fuck legs. I know I want them to be timeless and leather. And I know I want them to be good quality that will last me a long time. Secondary priority is that it's an approved brand/manufacorer, one that I can prudly tell when someone ask which shoes I'm wearing. You know what I mean. Please help me?
>>13901076So the only difference between the Blaxland and the Comfort Craftsman is the removable inner "Comfort" sole?
>>13895495anyone id these? looking for same sole profile and a similar upper, been looking for a while cant find jack shit
>>13901792The comfort insole is not removable. It's not like they got a normal, traditional rm williams boot and shoved in a removable cushioned insert. This kind of insole is an integral part of the construction of the shoe and cannot be removed, just as any leather insole on any other goodyearwelted shoe is integral and non-removeable. It's the *insole*, not a mere *insert*. There used to be a model called the dynamic flex that was basically designed for those that needed to add an orthodic *insert* into their shoes and that model did come with a removable insert. However, even that had a different construction, materials wise, compared to the standard leather insole as well. Thing is, I don't have as much faith in these synthetic materials compared to the old reliable, time tested leather insoles. The comfort insole sure is comfy at first, like any new sneaker is, but leather's been used for an awfully long time in shoes and has a good track record. Synthetic crap lies in landfills yearly with all the other sneakers. At least that's what I think, no matter how flawed my reasoning may be. I did notice that, as time wore on, the comfort craftsman stopped being as comfy as a fresh new comfort pair, but the leather insole models only got more comfy as time wore on, or maybe my feet just got used to them. The footbedzor sock or whatever it's called of my comfort pair didn't last as long compared to the leather insole, tearing and shit ensued bit got that fixed during a resole.Have a pair of both and be done with it. One for summer (all leather insole + leather outsole if your summers are dry) and one for all else.

>>13901544>>13901639how much you wanna spend and what look do you have in mind? Most of the big PNW manufacturers will do a steel toe, which is better looking than your Keens and such imo. also very customizable. whites, nicks, jk, franks, wesco, hoffman, probably some others I'm forgetting. If it's steel toe, it's work wear, so looking good in other idioms isn't as important, right?danner has a few pretty subdued pairs at a slightly lower price point. maybe skim through georgia/chippewa/thorogood/irish setter at a lower price point yet if you haven't?
>>13901901Depends on the leather and the boots were stored/how long they've been sitting around. An innately oily leather won't need itBut if shit's been in storage for ages before you came along and bought it you might want to condition.>or should the leather be fine to break in and wear from the get go?Most of the time, yeah.>conditioning or not conditioning won't leave weird creases or anything will it?Not that I've noticed. Might depend on what you're using to condition. Some conditioners might leave a flakey white residue in the creases after a wear or so that can be brushed off. Conditioning will darken light leathers though, so be aware if you're particularly attached to a certain shade. One thing I do some new pairs, and honestly I have no idea if it's necessary or even advised, but I do use some lexol leather conditioner on the leather insole before my footsweat ever gets a chance to permeate and start doing that thing it does. Alden have comparatively crappy insoles and I hope to mitigate that crappiness in any way. Probably a placebo.
does anybody know what shoes these are?
>>13902407not specifically but they're just generic brown bluchers
>>13897067I am brown bootsDestroyer of fits
>>13902407red wing postman maybe
Yesterday i was out shopping and as I waited in line to checkout the single most beautiful girl I have ever seen in my life got behind me. She was tall, had blond hair and was wearing...Doc Martens. An old beat up pair that marched perfectly with the rest of her outfit. She was perfect, the kind of girl you write songs about. I may never see a girl that beautiful again in my life. And she was wearing Docs.
>>13902552... and then you blinked several times, wiping the cum from your eyes and realized that the boots were, in fact, Solovairs.
>>13902486you are dumb memedestroyer of discussion
>>13902566Nope, Docs. It had the yellow tab and stitching that docs have, not the green of Solovair.
>>13902552Is this a good or bad things?
Black leather shoes were part of my school uniform. The most comfy brand available back then were docs and most had that yellow stich. They were still being made in england at that stage.Comfiest school shoes I ever had.I'm still surprised today to see that docs are popular beyond school yard uniforms.
felt comfortable and warm, fur insides so not sure if its even wearable in above zero degree weather
My Crockett & Jones Coniston boots were just shipped todaytracking says I'll get them tomorrowsuper excited.
Opinions on Thursday boots? Was thinking about these.
>>13903240IF you get Thursday, get the ones that are made in the USA
>>13903249how to make sure they're made in the USA? also why exactly?
first pair of leather boots, paid 180 canadian, how did I do?
>>13903253https://thursdayboots.com/collections/mens-boots-made-in-usathey cut less corners in the USA
>>13903258poorlynever ever get boots that both have zippers and laces
First pair of boots. Got these for 60% off. Can i wear them in light snow and normal rain?
>>13903261are vanguards the only ones you can get in the USA?
>>13903240shit brand makes shit bootsexposed that it paid shitty youtubers to shill their shitty bootsshills on redditshills everywherelow quality shit not even fit for a poorfagsave up for something better
>>13903268No, you can get all of their boots in the USA, but they are the only model that are made in the USA.
>>13903264They're not the highest quality boots, no goodyear or anything, but I think they look good, what's the problem with zippers and laces
>>13903271sorry that's what I meant, so if oyu ever buy a pair of captains then htey're automatically made in mexico
>>13903273because zippers made laces redundant, meaning they are just for showwhich is retarded and a waste
>>13903269pretty strong words, problem is that new companies paying youtubers to review their brand doesn't automatically make their product bad>>13903278>>13903278
>>13903278so you're opinion is that it's a waste, ok thanks for making it obvious that uou have a worthless opinion
>>13903276Yeah.If I were you, I'd wait and buy something better. Save up some more cash, then buy White's boots. You can get them from here: https://www.bakershoe.com/product/whites-military-police-service-bootIf you sign up for a newsletter, you get a 10% discount code. Best boots you can get that are made in america.
>>13903285I'm not going to take critique from someone who thinks that a zipper on lace-up boots is ok.
>>13903279it doesn't, but when the company does this in direct response to the wave of negative feedback they were getting from real customers concerning their shoddy work, it does make them bad.
>>13903223these are uggs btw
>>13903286ugh they look really good too, but over twice as much just seems insane. Here's where I'm at, I see tons of redditters who drool over $500 boots, then bash thursdays because of the pricepoint and "shit quality" but the issue is I can't see the extra worth in the white's for the extra 300
>>13903302fair enough, but it's just my personal opinion that it's better to save for twice as long in order to get something better.
>>13903290garbage argument, it IS ok, just because you're some elitest doesn't mean your opinion is godsend, Hey guess what, they also have 2 asthetic buckles on the heal :)
>>13903295are oyu talking about their early quality control issues? I heard about that, some of the youtubers even mentioned they had issues with they're leather
>>13903306keep wallowing, pig.
>>13903306listen asshole, you were the one who asked for opinions on your garbage
>>13903305ok but i have trouble with this notion of what "better" is. So thursday apparently has a plastic goodyear welt, but if the leather and plastic welts both do the same job and are both durable, why pay more? im using this arguemnt across the board for thursday quality vs expensive brands
>>13903310you're so sad aren't you
>>13903313quality of leather and quality of construction and quality of the rubber sole
>>13903312actually you are the asshole, no asked for oyu do call people retards because their boots have laces and zippers, you have to be grade A fucked to think that shit like that actually matters AND that your opinion about it is so important
>>13903317I'm not seeking approval for my shitty boot purchase on the internetreturn them if you can
>>13903318ahh see this is better discussion. so the leather has been cmopared to chromexcl that the wolverine 1000 miles use. In one video some guy compared the two over half a year or something idk, the leather on the 1000 mile looked terrible, the thursday boots didnt. of course he could have easily lied about the wear time, but still. the story was the same for the rubber, apparently it's a pretty good durable rubber sole. I dont know much about the construction quality which worries me. HEre's my opinion, I think eventually I'd like the save upp 500 for something like whites JUST for the peace of mind, knowing that the boots with be solid without doubt
>>13903326neither was I, also was seeking to be berated either. What you ARE diong is seeking a sense of superiority through your shit, baseless opinion. Where ill agree with you is the return, I was really impulsive in buying these and just bought the first pair of leather boots i liked in the 200s, unfortunately I don't think returning is an option at this point
>>13903332While the sole of Thursday boots looks like a Dainite sole, it is in fact a cheap imitation. White's uses genuine Dainite. That's just one example of a difference.Good luck with whatever you end up doing.
>>13903240I have those boots, buy a size and half smaller than your normal foot size. I only went down half a size and they are still big. I don't wear mine much because I don't have much to wear with them because my /fa/shion is shit
>>13903112Good because I'll be jerking off to her for the next 5 years, remembering the time i saw a literal angel. Bad because she was wearing cheap plastic looking boots and she should be wearing something much better.
>>13903224Post pics here when you get them so we can see.
>>13903529How did she even look like and what was the rest of her fit
>Buy heavily discounted Trickers>£425 boots can't be bad can they?>2 weeks later>still blistering my feet to shit>Soles of feet are raw and sore>Literally my knees feel like they're breaking.Did I fall for the Trickers meme?
>>13903553Sounds more like they're the wrong size
>>13903553Have you owned boots before, son? You need to break them in. Get back in another two weeks.
>>13903537Tall, especially for a girl, blonde and her hair was in a ponytail. She had a black winter jacket and black jeans. And then just shitty beat up Docs. Sounds like a basic monochromatic fit but she just pulled it off so perfectly, I'm still thinking of her. I take back what i said about Docs, they still suck but because she wore them I'll give them a pass
>>13903553They don't fit. If they were the right size that stuff would be mostly gone or not happen in the first place if they're the right size.
>>13903553Looks like you´ve been Tricked.Seriously though, those boots look too basic for this money.
>>13903590>>13903558I'm a 14 on a brannock and bought them in size 13UK. I get no heel slip and they seem to be the right length and width. If they're the wrong size I can't imagine what would need to be different to make them the right size.
>>13903679Sounds like you just need to tough it out and break them in more
>>13903748alright, I'll give it another fortnight.Goodnight sweet knees.
Are there legit Thursday marketers trying to infiltrate /fa/?
>>13903679width, last shape (pointy toe vs spread out), heel height, arch shape, lace tightness and pressure, forefoot rocker, volume, probably some other things I'm not thinking about
>>13900884>>13896199anyone know more boots that look like this? specifically the same shape/toebox
>>13903204how do you feel about https://workingperson.com/hathorn-boots-h7806st-explorer-steel-toe-logger-boots.html(they run long and narrow ime, I'm a 12-12.5 D or E in most shoes and my fit in these with thick socks is like a 10.5 EEE)
>>13903933>https://workingperson.com/hathorn-boots-h7806st-explorer-steel-toe-logger-boots.htmlIm not >>13903204 but fucking christ those are the ugliest things ive ever seen man. just get some timbs or something
Finally got another pair of Tankers. Interested to see how this Natural CXL ages.
plen herewhat makes Cromexcel leather so terrible, is it durability? Patina? Something else?
>>13904011Actual Horween CXL isn’t that bad. Some brands use lesser quality pull up leathers than people confuse for CXL. Regardless all pull up leathers are softer and will stretch and scratch more easily than regular calf skin.
>>13904000Natural chromexcel is the only chromexcel worth getting. The way it patinas and darkens is amazing.
anyone got recs for a pair of winter boots that will last a few decent winters? (salt, snow and rain)i live in the middle of the fuggin atlantic and my boots just fall apart because i cheap out harddon't have to be especially aesthetic, preferably under 200 or 150 CAD
best red wings?
>>13903240I don't know about the quality everyone talks about but desu they look effay and flexible in style
>>13903264i like boots with zippers, though i prefer a zipper oriented i little straighter down the side rather than what's going on in op's pic. i've been wearing a few pairs with zippers for years and the zipper makes putting them on and taking them off a lot quicker. one of the pull tabs broke on one such boot a while back and it was such a bitch to remove the boot in comparison to the fully functional side. i would suck to have to loosen up all the laces every time i fuck.
>>13904268Iron Rangers are best for their everything. Merchants are best looking
>>13903979definitely dont want something that high cut wowwhy do they make work and safety boots look so ridiculous or ugly.
>>13904323speed hooks my dude
>>13903679My feet were killing me during the break in period for my Red Wing boots. Took me like two weeks of pain to get the initial break in done, and then another week before it got more bearable. Now they are one of the comfiest shoes I own.You might also be walking badly which would explain your knees, make sure you're not landing with your heel too hard as that will fuck your knees up.
>>13901743>no winter shoes>time less leather>quality (for the price anyway)My man, you want the Meermin shearling-lined derby boot:https://www.meermin.es/en/10178711200000he-20-101787-oak-antique-calf-e-oak.htmlIt's not a bragging rights brand though, they're good as fuck for the price point but it's not something like a pair of Vass boots where you can impress people with the name.
Better that way if you ask me desu
>>13903592>never owned a proper shoeSnigger
>>13895705Got these. Pretty comfy
>>13905167not too shabby
this board cant boot, so....
where tf can i get some palladium rain boots in a size 12? and what are some good alternatives?
>>13903553What i've found from certain premium shoes is that some will be a bit painful in the heel, but due to the way they wire the shoe, literally they wire it, so it will conform to your heel over time, you may need to kneed the structure. but if the shoes are painful in the toe, they are simply not a good last for you. if your foot doesn't fit the last well, it never will.
>>13906916whylet it die
>>13900924other than marketing and memes, why are thursdays shit
How to clean Red Wing boots? Can I use regular natural soap?
>>13907087I think you should buy Thursday boots, the luxurious high quality leather and devilish insole will be befitting of your curiosity and contrarian ideals.
>>13895495As a poorfag with an internship, what brand is the cheapest I can go to in UK for boots/shoes without being too shit?
>>13907273What kind of shit have you got on them if you need to use soap?I just brush the dirt off, let them dry a bit, brush again to get dust off, then put the leather confitioner they sell on the boots. Keeps them fresh and the leather in good condition.
>>13907289Thx, anything possible slightly cheaper for trying new styles?I’d like to try different boots but at the same don’t want to spend much since I’m not sure which I will like most but not shit tier fast fashion which will fall apart instantly.
>>13907293if you want to try new styles, go into a shop and try on some shoesno reason to spend money on "trying" something
>>13895495just copped these vasque skywalks. p happy w em
>>13907306im ok with this
>>13907287Dark stains that don't go off with water.
Also what could be causing those wrinkles ?
>>13907343You wearing the boot? Leather creases, if you're on about the specific pattern of the creases it depends on how you walk
>>13907355Strange, I walk normally. The other boot doesn't have those.
>>13907343careless pulling and shaking when putting the boot on
>>13907360Yeah, I got something weird with a pair of DM's once, probably due to how the boot came out of the box as the first few creases you put into the boot tend to be where the main creases develop from. It could also be that you lace one tighter than the other. Or what >>13907364 says which sounds pretty reasonable to me also
>>13907343looks like normal wear
>>13907343Leather shoes crease as they mold to your feet. Babby's first boots?
>>13907343It's loose grain on the leather, but honestly it's unavoidable. Chromexcel is really bad about wrinkles like that, which is the main thing people dislike about it.
>>13907529are there different quality tiers of chromexcel or is all of it the same?
>>13907319Stain the whole boot
>>13907087inferior materials compared to those used by more expensive brands
These are good looking. Hudson's Simpson brogue. Fucking expensive though. 270$ in us. 135 euros.
>>13907598nodon't get boots that look pre-wornit's like getting jeans that already have holes
>>13900687Had my Classic Craftsmen in Chestnut for 18 years, I bought them as a 21 gift to myself (they weren't called that back then they were just RM Williams boots had no model mark on them or the box) and I have had Comforts in Black for 5 years, bought when i sent the originals to the factory for a service, resole/re-elastic. iirc they cost $320 AU which at the time ($545 now) would have been approx $200-220 US . There is no other boot to buy imo. I only maintain them with polish if scuffed or milk if they go for a long period without use.
>>13903240Thursday is meme shit that I fell for. Captains started falling apart (heel separation, welt separation, stitches on outsole breaking) after two weeks of wear, and CS is hard to reach. They cheap out on everything and it shows once you put them on. I’m in the process of returning them now. Sizing is really off too.Don’t fall for the hype anon. If you can afford $200 boots, you can afford $300 boots. Save up and get something better.
>>13903766Yes, TIDF is real
Is it cringe to wear brown leather boots with a black leather jacket?
>>13903766i unironically think so, they did it other sites
>>13907883No, if you have got something to distarct attention from it, e.g. being still drunk at 8 a.m.
Want a pair of loden cordovan boots. In this color, not the model pictured.
Should I cop?
>>13908095Only if u grill
Just copped these:https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00GO3X4KK/Should I keep them? I have some desert boots but this is my first real foray into expensive boots. Should I be using a shoe horn to put them on? Shoes trees after I've worn them?
Guys recommend something for cold winter (~-4°F)Is there really no alternative to timberlands? Something with fur inside and that doesn't look like work boots.
>>13908571When will you retards learn that it's impossible to give a recommendation without a budget?
>>13907541Supposedly high quality brands are better about their clicking and making sure the best pieces make it onto the boot. Brands like Wolverine and Allen Edmonds on the their boots trend to get really bad loose grain, more than other brands seem to. Alden, for being so highly thought of also get it. My White's in CXL don't have loose grain, so I'm not really sure. Seems like luck of the draw mostly.
>>13907087>too cheap to use Chromexcel from Horween, makes their own proprietary kind that wrinkles a lot >too cheap to use actual Dainite soles>uses their own that are noticably softer and therefore wear out and need to be replaced sooner >too cheap to pay actual Americans to make their boots in America>makes them in Mexico from cheap Beaner labor insteadI can go on, but you probably the point.
Redpill me on barneys boots. They always have this shit one sale for like 40-60% off. They're Italian made, but dont say much else about them, the type of leather etc. Are they worth the 150-200 they're usually on sale for?https://www.barneyswarehouse.com/product/barneys-new-york-lug-sole-leather-boots-506129866.html
>>13908851I'm finding more and more that these brands are just bad memes and charge way too much based on brand recognition without providing much quality. A friend of mine got some Allen Edmonds dress boots recently, and he had to send 2 pairs back before he got one where both boots where actually constructed properly, fit, and didn't have major defects. Sort of mind blowing that that's what you get for 300-400 shekels.
>>13908856tbf i have little problem with MIM things since Mexican fender strats are usually the best cheap guitars in the stores
black viberg anyone?
