I want to love this series so bad, I was so hyped when the horror-style ads came out and the Alex Ross covers were revealed...

But it just feels...so corny to me. And not an endearing way. In a way that makes me almost feel embarrassed for the creators. I know that sounds dumb but it just is too caught up in its own narrative I guess? It’s hard to explain. I just want to know if anyone else feels this way

I feel it'll more be the programming they'll have inevitably put into him/the nature of the beast fighting with Rick's memories -- Stuff like Abomination taking a beating until Rick's memories about evading The Hulk in the sixties and being his designated victim for so long kick in and let him get the upper hand. Ewing loves deep pulls like that.
>>
>>107588477
I don't know how his hands work but that's ok
>>
>>107588663
You mean the ones on his face? They're crab legs when they open up fully.

Ewing is pushing biblical imagery here -- Harpy is Ziz, Crabomination is Leviathan and Hulk is Behemoth.

Wait a minute, it just dawned on me. In the King James translation of the Old Testament, one of the things that is considered "abomination" is eating non-kosher "unclean" food, which includes crab.

This will be my final post on /co/.

How can anyone think that this is scary for real ? How can anyone take seriously a horror book with Joe Fixit as a supposed to be frightening monster ? How can anyone see Joe Fixit as frightening for real in this book ?
"Ouh, Joe is smiling, so unsetlling, this is so scary guys..." why are you lying to yourself like that ?
You guys are just forcing onto yourself the new fade there will be in this hivemind of a board, with the blandest, tamest, most classicly safe comic book there can be, while your selective outrage is shitting on Bendis' Young Justice for things that would be praised if they were written by someone else, but NOOOOOOOOOOOO you have to shit on it even if it's good because the hivemind dictates you to do so !!!

No wonder you can't get laid, but guess what ? I got a girlfriend now. For the first time of my life after 25 years I finally got a girlfriend, and all that nerd fuss has become so irritating since.
I'm just leaving for good now, I had plenty of fun with that board but I'm done. I wish you to get girlfriends to, maybe it will open your eyes about the hivemind that is destructing your self, but sadly, the hivemind is probably keeping you away from being able to seduce anyone, so you're most likely trapped in a vicious circle, and sadly, there is no Savage Dragon to save you from it. I just hope that this message will maybe help you to think by yourself a bit more and to get a girlfriend to.

Enjoy your book.

Check the following also:

Remember/Opeña's Seven To Eternity
Hickman/Dragotta's East of West
Lemire's Black Hammer

Keep in mind the release schedules of some of these (indie) are fucked, so there will be big gaps between issues. Just stick with them. Also if you're more into Big Two, check Avengers "No Surrender" and "No Way Home", both great series by Ewing, Zub and Waid. The latter specially pulled some interesting things, but I advise you to read both so you get the full Voyager experience.

>>
>>107589179
This guy >>107589216 nailed it -- When you have a hammer, everything becomes a nail.

>>
>>107588456

>>
>>107588477
Ewing is using a lot of religious symbolism here. Basically Red Harpy is Ziz, Abomination is Leviathan, and The Hulk is Behemoth.

Leviathan is a sea monster in the Hebrew Bible, Abomination in this book has a hand on his face that can open up like the mandibles of a shellfish

Further proof: Leviticus 11 makes it clear that the eating of shellfish or other seafood 'without fin or scale' is un-kosher and unclean.

And what does the King James translation of the bible directly call it?

An abomination

It's the only good book Marvel are putting out right now - but at least in my opinion it's way too overhyped. It's just decent, not amazing. I think it says a lot about the state of comics right now that this is being treated like the second coming, because compared to the other dreck getting shovelled out each month it's positively Shakespearean.

No anon, Ewing's series usually sold like shit despite being solid, and this is probably the ONLY one of his entire tenure that made it past #12 uninterrupted by events or relaunches, so it is worth celebrating. The sales are good? Of course, but that's not why people think the run is worth reading, and you alone made the argument that sales = quality.

I actually like how this book leans into that horror trope where the story makes the victim look like they deserve it by turning them into big douches, so you don't feel bad when they finally get it.

I love this series, and I love that Gamma radiation is essentially "Movie Monster Juice"

hmmm i know that amazon says that there's gonna be a vol 4 and a vol 5, but the vol 5 description says something about a final fight.. which could mean up to #25 at best

Really? Quan Chi?
>>
Best fucking part about the whole multi-personality cooperation is that banner super charging the place with gamma also probably resurrected Samson.

SHERRRY!

I posted it at some other point already, but a lot of future trades Marvel is doing now seem to only collect like 3 issues, which makes no sense (some say stuff like #7-10, TBD). It's not just a couple, I've seen 4 already like that, and Immortal Hulk is no exception. I think they're still working out their future schedules now that stuff like HoX and PoX are happening, as well as the upcoming Absolute Carnage event. So it's no certainty these series will be cancelled and it's definitely no certainty that Immortal Hulk will only have 25 issues (it wouldn't make sense).
>>
>>107614220
Marvel has always been trying to squeeze more money out of less issues in trades, they went from 6 issues to 5 when Marvel Now started, and I'm not surprised they're going down to 3 now.
>>
>>107614249
>I'm not surprised they're going down to 3 now.
But that's not going to happen. Are you paying attention? They're "TBD", some of these series had recent crossovers with WoTR and it's likely the other issues will have crossovers with Absolute Carnage too, they just haven't determined how many.
>>
>>107612845
He meant Shang Chi.

Hope they'll let him do a sequel, best Godzilla in years

it's getting worse for tpb collectors (kinda) since dc is starting to collect the big stuff in HCs (toomasi's tec starts like that) and all the last few arc will be in hc's first then tpbs. and since dc is doing it, it's very possible that marvel adapts this as well and its all fucking annoying. the fact that there's an immortal hulk hc (with 10 issues) and it took this long for agent of asgard only spells more doom
>>
>>107615488
they've been doing HCs before TPBs for a while now. When I was younger and had shittier taste, I got all of Bendis' Avengers in HC because they came out before the TPBs
>>
>>107614502
I mean, I figured, but the thought of Spider-Man being trained by Quan Chi is funny.
>>
>>107615488
>it's very possible that marvel adapts this as well and its all fucking annoying
It's very normal, and anyone who follows this closely knows it. In fact it's a novelty that they're doing TPB collections lately based around writers, like Aaron, Waid, Cates and now Ewing, as well as releasing a TPB before a HC as they're doing with Avengers: No Road Home. There's nothing weird about this.
>>
Immortal bump
>>
>>107614249
I'm pretty fine with 5 issues, since it lessons the pain of trade-waiting and it's easier to divide a particular run in case it get's canceled early.
