So did they intentionally go fucking nowhere with space pirate Lars because the only purpose it served was to for Steven Universe to rip off yet another old anime series? Because even when he fucked off to space in the beginning it didn't feel like they had any real intention with that.

hard to do anything when the show is forced to be in Steven's POV.

yes because that what this show is anon the going nowhere show, but dont forget to add in the oppressed gay undertones
Damn weebs did my Captain dirty
I also heard OKKO is getting canceled which was one of the only other cartoons that referenced anime out the ass

At least with OK KO they didn't cover up all the anime ripping off as being harmless referencing nor did they claim any of the ripping off as being completely original on their part.
Shit man, even the whole "race of gemstone-based lifeforms that revert back to precious stones upon being wounded/stone being shattered means being unable to come back forever" thing was ripped off completely from a game called Legend of Mana on PS1, right down to diamonds being the ruling class and there being different colored pearl girls.

every episode of this show is wasted potential

I'm not even sure what the interest in Pink Lars is all about. He's no Captain Harlock.

Every episode is wasted resources.

Before the episode premiered, it was assumed we'd finally see Lars man up and have cool space adventures while taking on an archenemy of his own. But we finally got the episode and surprise, it was a "Lars is pissy because Sadie's been accepted by the cool kids and not him" episode.

The real crime however, is that Emerald was utterly wasted.

I really doubt OK KO's getting cancelled when it's one of the few shows they even have left.
>>
>>107035678
OK KO isn't getting cancelled. Ian and his crew are still making episodes. It's just on hiatus whilst they get them ready.

I doubt CN would be dumb enough to axe one of their few remaining shows with any degree of viewerbase. Especially with the new CEO.

Ocean Gem was the closet it got to meeting it's potential

The Return and Jailbreak were more hype

Going anywhere with space pirate Lars would require Steven to be there the entire time.
Fuck locked Steven PoV

>>107035563
My rage will be eternal for all the possible cool stories they may have done with this set up, only to waste it on focusing sadies stupid fucking band
>>
>>107035563
Did you think they would go anywhere with it? As in, did you think a bunch of fucking millennials would put together anything of quality from references to shitty Japanese animation from when they were kids?

Pleb. The show is at its best when there are anime references or is a 'mock-anime' and objectively weakest when this isn't happening.

Kiki's Pizza Delivery Service was probably my favorite townie episode in recent memory. It's solid.

They would mean action and violence; everything SU is against.

>The show is at its best when there are anime references
How are consumers of Japanese animation so easy to please in some areas but nigh impossible in others?

>Kiki's Pizza Delivery Service
Oh, get fucked on fire. I didn't even know that was a fucking episode title.

So Hiro, what do you want for renaming /co/ into Plagiarism again?

The episode was about Lars and Emerald. Was Mirror Gem about fart jokes? No, it was about the mirror.

He did more in the two weeks that Steven in 4 seasons. He was having space adventures stealing escaping an alien planet, stealing ships, and making arch nemesis. Not that impressive in any other show but in this one where the most exiting thing that can happen in months is Steven going to a party, Lars becoming a space pirate sure is exiting.

Space pirate lars is a blatant ripoff of harlock

Random thought:

Given how much lore is in the show but only hinted at, and generally speaking they only have 11 minutes per ep to tell a story-- it's possibly the crew had to drop plot lines and or only hint at them in order to tell all they can within the episode limit they were given.

Like it or not, SU was popular. But CN din't give its crew a blank check--they had to pick and choose the essentials. Voltron had this fucking problem too over at Netflix.

They at least got to imply what Lars got to do even if we could see it... and there's always a chance I guess that someone could chronicle his adventures in a comic book.

They kind of are right now. Lars of the Stars got its own comic adaptation where we learn more about the Off Colors and their backstories. Really the only wasted potential in SU is the 11 minute format, which sucks. No doubt about it. Some stuff gets rushed, others get glossed over. It does what it needs to in the story but it really needs at least 5 more minutes per episode which the crew agrees on.
