Pic related. Probably one of my all time favorites.

Can anyone recommend me something with the same general quality and flavor?

This is one of the few comic books that never slapped the "graphic novel" label on the collected editions for broad appeal funnily enough

Oh sorry, forgot to answer your question in >>105859556. Castle Waiting has a somewhat similar comfiness to it and the art is even similar (published for a while by Smith's Cartoon Books to boot). It's good but the story is never concluded and it's probably one of the girliest comics I've ever read: there's a major story arc around setting up a baby room.

In terms of consistent quality, I'd give Usagi Yojimbo a go in case you haven't already
>>
>>105859556
Shit I just realized they do say it the top blurb
>>
>>105859600
Thanks for both!

I've seen Usagi Yojimbo around, but I've never read it. I might look it up.
>>
if bone was released today how much would /co/ reee over it being feminist sjw propaganda
>>
>>105859548
Cerebus
>>
>>105859983
What are you talking about anon? /co/'s tight objectivity would clearly acknowledge the overall quality of the series without latching on the strong female characters
>>
>>105859983
Smith was one of the industry's original White Knights. Google his feud with >>105860018 for details
>>
>>105860118
For once, I'm not gonna look up the drama. Smith has my respect for making Bone and I'm just going to leave it at that. Ignorance is, after all, bliss.

>Sim and Smith are friends
>Sim develops schizophrenia
>Sim insults Smith's wife
>Smith demands an apology
>Sim demands a boxing match
>this is the last time they spoke as friends
Defending your wife isn't really white-knighting.

Love Bone. Excellent taste, OP

I remember buying this at the scholastic book fair whenever i could i miss it desu thanks gor the nostalgia trip anon

I don't disbelieve people when they say the high points of this are amazing, but all the craziness in the supposed low points and in the artist's life (which in this case can't be separated from the art) makes me not want to read it.

>Bone in anything but the original Black/White
>>
>>105860449
Issue 200 is the finale of the main story and the sane story. Issues 201-300 (the crazy issues) are just the epilogue. You can stop reading at issue 200 and be fully satisfied with a great story and non-crazy writing.

But what happens to most people is that they become fans of the character, and their own curiosity forces them to read the crazy issues too.
>>
>>105860450
Don't be a shit cunt, the colored volumes are gorgeous
>>
>>105860629
I'm not saying they look bad. But the art was made to be published in bw originally, and looks fantastic without any need for color
>>
>>105860018
Cerebus is great but it is not in the same flavor as Bone.
>>
>>105860643
Real talk, who would have won in a straight up brawl between Fone Bone and the honey seller?

I am upset by this.

>>105860449
>comic is 98% amazing
>the other 2% are easily skippable craziness
>HURR I DUN WAN RED ID
Okay, don't. But it's your loss.
>>105860497
This is complete bullshit though, there's crazy shit before issue 200 and ignoring the last 100 issues entirely is mouth-breathing, pants-shitting levels of retardation. Also the best artwork in the series doesn't happen until the last third, even the craziest, weirdest parts of Latter Days still have pretty pictures to look at.
>>
>>105860854
Yeah, bones got cartoon physics.
>>
>>105859548
Was Phoney Bone /ourguy/?
>>
Thorn is so cute but it's impossible to get good fan art of her.

I don't just mean because Bone is relatively obscure, but because it doesn't feel right if its not drawn by Jeff Smith.

Dunno how much damage he'd realistically do

But there was the part where he and Thorn got the absolute SHIT beaten out of them by the Vedu and he took it reasonably well
>>
Tarsil did nothing wrong

Fuck the Harvestars and fuck Dragons
>>
>>105860111
/co/ probably wouldn't know it existed unless Thorn became a flavor of the month.
>>

Still ended up with bruises, a black eye and a missing tooth.

Serious talk. Why the fuck was this never adapted into an animated series?
>>
>>105865724
>In the late 1990s, an attempt was made by Nickelodeon Movies to produce a film adaptation of Bone. Jeff Smith said in a 2003 interview that Nickelodeon wanted the Bone cousins to be voiced by child actors, and wanted the film's soundtrack to include pop songs by the likes of N'Sync. Smith's response was that one would never insert pop songs in the middle of The Lord of the Rings or The Empire Strikes Back, and therefore pop songs should not be placed in Bone either.
>On March 9, 2008, it was announced Warner Bros. Pictures had bought the film rights to the series. Smith's website confirmed on March 13, 2008 that he had made a deal with Warner Bros. to adapt the Bone saga into a film series. Further information was given in July 2011, citing that "two scripts have already been written and rejected—a third is currently in the works and will most likely yield three separate, computer-animated, 3-D films."
>In January 2012, it was reported that Patrick Sean Smith, the creator of TV series Greek, was hired to write an adaptation, and that P. J. Hogan was attached to direct the feature, which will be produced by Lin Pictures and Animal Logic.
>In November 2016, it was reported that Mark Osborne had been hired to direct the animated adaptation for Warner Animation Group. Osborne, along with Adam Kline, are set to write the film, which would be the first in a planned trilogy.

>>105860450
Indeed. I'm only a couple volumes away from a complete collection of the Cartoon Books trades. Fuck scholastic.
>>
>>105861168
He'd fit right in, I'll say that.
>>
>>105859548
Usagi Yojimo's been recommended a few times, but I would also say you should check out some of the Groo comics.

Some of the random prints of the marvel run (now published by Dark Horse), and especially the Life and Death of Groo books. They go toe to toe with Smith's art in terms of quality, though Aragones is more cartoony he does alot more detail, though the writing is a bit different in that it's mostly humor based.
>>
>>105865724
It's long as fuck and has lots of slow spots

So adaption would be difficult to keep the tone niggas like while reading while in a form that's motion picture
>>
>>105859548
Never understood this yankee pet peeve. Are you that embarrassed to just call it a comic?
