repostan progress. i had a few questions: how much of a backlog should i have before i start posting my comic online? is a page a week acceptable? are chapters at a time better? is posting a scene at a time viable(like 3-5ish pages)?
>>

meant to post this one. just started on inks and it seems like if im able to draw a few hours a day i can get a page done in one week. itll be a struggle though since im working full time and have to balance spending a little time with my wife

>>
>>104535418
I’m in the same boat with you in regards to spending time outside of comics that don’t involve vidya or hobbies.

As for your question of backlog, it’s tough to say. If you can finish a page a week, and still have time to spare (probably getting started on the next page) then you’re gold. It would probably be best to have at least a good 5 weeks worth of updates ready in case anything comes up.

A page a week is fine; it's less the number of pages a week and more the consistency of which you update. If you can't handle a set schedule like every Friday, than you are better off waiting until you can handle it.
Some comics update on a chapter/issue schedule, but they are less likely to gain traction due to not being frequently updated. People tend to forget things that aren't part of their weekly/daily schedule.
Scene updates feel lurchy to me, like sitting in a car with someone who's just learning to drive. Gas brake gas brake *vomits* gas brake

The other anon is right about 5 weeks of updates being good for a buffer.

yeah, its tough to make everyone happy(including yourself). i get 4-5 hours of sleep a day because late night is the only time i get to myself and sometimes if i get too absorbed into something im drawing ill punch it all the way till morning and end up with 2 hours or less. growing up sucks, but i guess it is what it is. im trying to make the best of it. But 5 weeks, that sounds good. over 10 years ago when i was just out of high school i used to update my webcomic two times a week(since i didnt have a job or s/o). so hard to believe i was able to do that.

>>104535580
thanks! thats an area that ive been working on since its one of my(many) weaknesses

>>104535789
gotcha. you’re right. i thought maybe having a complete scene at a time would be good but when you put it that way it makes sense to just be consistant. i guess i worry sometimes that a page a week isnt enough to keep readers interest.

so the line webtoon site is more suited for posting a chapter at a time? the other site ive heard of is tapas. am i being an asshole if i host my comic on every site i can? (theduck, comic fury, tumblr, etc)

Apparently every update is called an "episode" and it's multiple single panels one after each other in a linear format in each one. Seems like a terrible idea.

Somebody emailed(?) the newgrounds creator about webcomics and posted their response on twitter. (? because I can't find it in either of their post history to confirm, so I'm guessing it's a direct message of some sort)

I guess not too far from now you can add newgrounds to the list of webcomic hosts that are available.

The same should go for artists when interacting with other artists. Artists especially should show love, I know it's not "professional" but we're all broke here anyway. Think about how good it feels to have another artist that likes your work actually say that they like your work.
>>
>>104539770
What a stupid concept. There's absolutely no reason two artists should get along, just because they share the same hobby. There's some weird ass fandom shit. "love and tolerate" brony garbage.

I didn't say you had to get along, I said if you like someone's stuff, you should say you like it.

Artists are always told to interact with their peers, it helps build networks like any other career that requires references and knowing the right people. The only thing actively shunned is moron level interactions like tumblr-esque ""callouts"".

Sure.
A battle-royale tournament of animals competing to become a powerful witch's familiar. Aesthetically, the characters would look naturalistic, while humans only appear as vague shapes. But it would be too niche, and I can't draw animals. It might be popular as a furry comic, but alas, I have neither the technical skill, nor the inclination to pull it off.

I love shit like that. Always wanted to do something like it. But then I remember Blame! already exists, so there's really no point.
Blame! is such a masterpiece, to me it's up there with sci-fi classics by Asimov, Lem, Strugatzki and arguably did better what Borges tried in Library of Babel...

I have been absolutely thirsty for a road-trip RPG story for a number of reasons. Like for one thing, real oldtimey people didnt just trek for miles, they would get a fucking wagon or at least horses
I have this idea that you could get around a ton of the usual cliches by having just the hero be a teenager and the entire rest of the party is old farts. and they spend large stretches of the story just inside the caravan, listening to old stories.. the kid learns a lot, it's a good time.

Caveats:
1) make the monsters stronger than machines- everyone who clicked the link wants to see 'tanks dueling with horrors' or whatever that line in Chapter Master Quest was
2) don't have the gods show up at the last minute to force a bad end- it feels like whoever is writing is checking the Wikipedia page for cosmic horror to make sure it technically works
2.a) don't use Nyarlathotep. Apart from showing up everywhere, all the other characters look like idiots for falling for his bullshit
3) the only rule in space is that there are no rules, throw in some OC. Like, nowhere in the stories is there a speaker-weapon, and they get fired into cities like mortars, and anyone who hears them gets vibrated to death, and they're audible for miles... but that wouldn't be out of place

The heavy referencing on the second panel just highlights your lack of technical skill even more. The guy who drew the original, Golyhol, has made huge improvements over the past year because he continues to push himself to draw better and better and actually takes criticism to heart, while you continue to draw the same stale ugly shit. Imagine how good your art would look if you put any amount of effort into studying, or took critique to heart? he is clearly trying, it is clearly improving, and it does still clearly suck out loud with a side of onions. He's constantly experimenting with new, different ways of sucking compared to the past. That foot is actually shaped like a foot. that ear has the parts of an ear in it.
It also has ridiculous shortness and a calf that is trying to escape from the leg. but every time you lie and say he's "not listening to critique" you're making it harder for him to figure out what he's doing wrong.

I haven't read your comic yet, but I really like the artstyle, so I'll get to it eventually. I agonize a lot over spiritual questions and a lot of my webcomic ideas build on religious mythology, most prominently Chrisitian. In fact, my next comic is loosely based on Milton's Paradise Lost.
I hope I can ask this question without sounding like an asshole, but aside from Theodize, inherent contradictions and the more abstract ethical considerations, how do practicing Christians get over practical stuff like the council of nicea where huge chunks of the bible were effectively retconned throughout history through chance or political motive? Sure, you could argue that it's all part of god's plan to create the "true" version of the Bible, but that would put 'correct' beliefs in a narrow historic frame for no apparent reason. I've talked to people who say they believe in God but can give no explanation what that means and seem to have no awareness where their faith comes from and how it has evovled historically. If your concept of God relies on the scriptural framework it becomes as fallible as the people who built it and if your concept of God is abstractly idealistic, there's no need for a framework at all. And between these points, I could neve adapt any kind of belief and I envy people who can but I don't understand them.
>>

>a lot of my webcomic ideas build on religious mythology, most prominently Chrisitian. In fact, my next comic is loosely based on Milton's Paradise Lost.

>>
>>104544703
And now that I've read the rest of this post.. Hoo boy. It's not hard, dude.
TLDR nothing catholic is right. They just slapped vaguely christian labels onto what they were doing already, and the whole world (including/especially enemies of the faith or religion at large) ate it up and never questioned its legitimacy, until Luther kinda tried his best at fixing it, but it's all still derived from that illegitimate origin unless you start the fuck over.
Listen to a messianic rabbi sometime and he'll set you straight. The hebrew scriptures have remained 99% unaltered for thousands of years (Yeshua himself said roughly "not a single Z will ever disappear from the scriptures" ... There's just a couple decimal points people aren't quite sure on)

unless you're one of those extratards who draws them as a horse (no offense to Tom n' Artie guy. Or for that matter Double Blade, another hyw alumnus that's keen on Jesus). You can't have a horned horse.. unless it has some fucked up disease. But historical unicorns are always drawn distinctly bovid (karkadann is another thing entirely though, that's just some guy describing a rhino)

Gloryhol's recent horror comic has more concurrent readers than you've ever had in the past four years. I guess that's totally not reflective of anything on your writing or art though, right? It's all just one big conspiracy to put you down rather than see you actually improve your work.

I'll put this as bluntly as possible.

You're an awful person. Spumae Terrae. You can't take a lick of criticism and actively refuse to do anything to change the way you present yourself or your mess of a comic. You carry yourself like you're better than anybody else, but yet nobody reads your awful fucking comic because it's outright torture. If someone was a prisoner of war and was given only "West Tree" as reading material, the UN would put their foot down on the prison camp's rules because it clearly breaks the Geneva Conventions.

You got scammed by Jim Shaw and his friends because you are an idiot, a moron, and a gullible kid that has too much free time on his hands wasting everyone's time by pumping out more and more obnoxious content than taking the time to refine ideas. You miss that $75? I'll be Jim is having a great time with seventy-five dollar-menu items with your daddy's cash right now.

If I had a choice between living with you or both of us dying, I'd take us both out, knowing full well that the world would be a better place without the black hole of ineptitude known as "The Dewd".

Not a single word of this is going to go through that inbred, backwater skull of yours though. You're going to say something stupid like "lol u mad", because that peanut sloshing around in your malformed skull can't think of more than a couple hard ideas in a day before it shuts down.

Your parents are failures, your friends and peers are spinless cowards, and you are beyond help or advice. Continue to crash and burn as you were, you fucking nobody.
>>
>>104545247
Wait are you the guy who gave a history lesson a few threads back on how the imagery of the unicorn has been so diluded over time that it no longer resembles the medieval descriptions whatsoever?
Super fascinating stuff. I'm still wondering, as we know that the modern label of unicorn is incorrect, what is the thing which everyone is refering to?
>>
>>104545247
>it's pretty damn plausible

No, it isn't.
>>
>>104545336
I remember that subject coming up and I definitely participated in some capacity.
Labels are funny that way. Things get co-opted, change, we just want to know what to call stuff but it's never that simple. Interesting it should come up in the religion discussion since that's so very relevant there.
I tend to just say 'horned horse' but it goes over about as well as calling Taiwan 'the real China' and expecting people to get me.
The nice thing is, when it comes to a winged horned horse, there's no problems there, since you can just say a winged horse fucked a unicorn, or a winged unicorn fucked a regular horse... hybrids are allowed to be biologically implausible.
>>
>>104545378
I don't know what else you need to see. People have surgically combined the horn buds of sheep and goats, and here one has been born with its horns fused.
It's not going to go granting sparkly wishes or anything, any more than an owl is going to dispense advice or instruct you on the resiliency of a given lollipop to your saliva, but owls are still real.
>>
>>104545268
Dewd has a way of making you feel pity in one moment and blind rage in the next. His unintentional baits are more effective than the painstaking masterpieces crafted by bones. It took me over a year before I finally stopped giving dewd spelling advice, because he's so ingeniously convincing as someone just barely willing to improve, but never EVER actually does so. Just let this be the last time we react to one of his posts.

I don't know why this is an argument, but yeah there were cousins of rhinos which had hair and single horns, and from afar probably looked like horses or ponies.

>>
>>104545526
Oh shit dude, thanks for warning me.
>>
>>104545508
Oh. Well if we want to get into mythology, the bible is a ripoff of early middle eastern religions, including Akkadian tablets. Indra, Zeus, Marduk are all the same story, Cain, Abel and Seth is the story of Osiris, Set and Horus, etc etc.

The problem with believing in the bible at face value and as the literal truth is that its believing in a game of mythological telephone. Lets go back to talking about our comics.
>>
>>104545599
>"it's all just magical telephone!"
>repeats a bunch of endlessly-repeated shit every babbu's first atheist memorizes
>>
>>104545608
>'I'm a cunt with no friends!'

Message received, sir.
>>
>>104545473
Actually his argument was:
>mythical properties attributed to a creature are not inherently arguments againts its existence

The problem with that argument is that we can completely separate the myths surrounding owls from the zoological animal, but can hardly do the same thing for the unicorn.
In conclusion, everyone is stupid except me.

No need to worry about sounding like a jerk anon! It's important to have questions and knowing how to answer them properly. If anyone got any questions regarding christianity just ask me, I'll do my best in answering!

The Word is incorruptible and unchanging, even with the council whom members claimed to be led by the Holy Spirit, they were just human and we're pretty flawed, it doesn't matter what they alter because in the end, the Word still exists in an original form.

>But can you not make the argument that the one, true bible would be one written in ancient hebrew?

You could. But then how would anyone read the one true Word if it’s only accurate in its original language? Some people actually claim that and that’s too far. You have to rely on the Holy Spirit to carry the Word to all corners of the Earth, through whatever means necessary
Now consider things like the Council’s decisions. If indeed it was led by the Holy Spirit, which I believe it was, then we can safely say that the Word remains uncorrupted even through translation and the length of time that’s passed since the time of the Apostles.

As for believing in God? I agree, sometimes people just don't know why they believe, sometimes it's due to tradition, being born and just... sorta raised to believe it and not give it much thought.
I believe in God because of the Word, and its prophecies. It contains over 300 prophecies written by many authors over a century long period of time, all unrelated to each other, all depicting the birth, death, life, and message of one single man in history, Jesus Christ, who all historians agree existed, and whose major details of their life is wholely accepted.
The chances of these prophecies all perfectly converging on this one man and all being fulfilled by this man is impossible unless there was divine intervention involved, making the Bible not only true, but God-breathed.
If the prophecies are true, then that means the Word of God itself is true.
And every single prophecy of Jesus Christ was 100% fulfilled.
I also had some very peculiar spiritual experiences which led me to give christianity a shot after so many years of being agnostic.

I mean, really my point here was that the bible in a brief retelling of Jewish mysticism, so I don't know why anyone would discount the original versions of the stories, such as the Akkadian tablets depicting Genesis and the Flood.

But I mean. Sure. Constantine was holy. heh. and Christianity fell from grace because it relied heavily on priests explaining the bible to those who couldn't read it, until the rise of literacy after the French Revolution.

So according to Christian doctrine, there are two things here right?
1. Essence prevails.
2. Change is mediated through and intended by God.

The problem with things that are so old that we don't have the original version of them is, you can never really say who said something first and who copied them. You can only say who got to the "publisher" first, or who's got the oldest surviving manuscript.
Catholics intentionally refusing to allow things outside of Latin so they could control what people thought it said was fucked up, but crediting the French Revolution makes you as big a fedora as the people who unironically called their movement "The enlightenment"

people hated on me cause I had a bad attitude towards crit. I wanted people to just have a cutesy little possive discussion about the latest page, and start shipping their favorite characters or whatever. but i hadent earned that. I stopped being stubborn and realized if I act like that I wont get better.

dewd gets shit cause he does the same, and still refuses to take any of it to heart and learn from it. he thinks hes entitled to success.

Bulling him is valid now because he still refuses to improve after years and years, if he wants to do that and still post the same shit again and again, and pretend as if he's earned positive discussion, no. he fucking deserves it.

plus i have to deal with him being associated with my comic since were on the same collective. even if it barely matters. I said we needed quality control and some dignity when choosing for freakanimes, but what we got was a 2nd dewd comix and someone who treated our site owner like shit then straight up left without warning for the lols cause hes 12. fuck that.

The character designs are overall ugly looking. Your poses look consistently stiff. You have no sense of color whatsoever. Your panelling is boring and the writing is atrocious.
Providing more detailed crit is a fools errand because there are no positive aspects to West Tree, if you wanted to make a comic people actually read you would have to completely start over with highly improved writing and art.

The process of rebubbling--and therefore rewriting--past pages continues. I'm starting to feel the pangs of pain that come with discarding your babies, but 9 times out of 10, the writing improves as it bends to the demands of less space. That said, this is a biting lesson in avoiding clutter. I'm not willing to completely redo these pages to make sure the bubbles fit perfectly, so I have to sit here and stare at how clogged up so many of the panels are.

Experimenting with unique text bubbles for each ensemble cast member continues. Some work very well. Others...

It's true, I don't either. I would wager most of the creators here feel ignored at some point or another. It's just how it is when you decide to make art your 'thing'. When nobody's noticing it, you feel like nobody likes you. I think It's this feeling that can turn the weak artist into a self absorbed artist.

If you've ever played the video game Darkest Dungeon, I think art is a constant sanity battle between reaching your breaking point, losing your mind and becoming a raving lunatic; Or reaching a point of clarity and buckling down to be something greater than you are now. The important part is realizing that any one of us can lose this battle at any point in time. So - you know - keep fighting.

I'm having trouble following this scene though, simple as it is. One assumes they're facing each other as they talk, and then one-eye pulls a 180 to face his friends as he continues to talk to trevor

Yes. Newgrounds is literally the only website nowadays that's actually run by human beings.
>>104538163
NG's staff have been working for ages to update the site. Hell, even the Discord Server they ran ages ago had entire days where the staff would mull over ways to improve the website with the active users.
>>104538215
The NG forums are awesome for that. They've had tons of CYOA comics there.

such vitriol and such truth
dewd this is legit. I mean pretend they said it nicely instead of foaming and frothing, but listen to it. That color stuff especially.
I seem to remember when west tree had a lot of great color and shading actually, some outdoor winter scenes at night with street lights hitting everything?
I think I can use some of this advice myself, actually, especially that dramatic angle thing. I've never done that, and I should.
>>
>>104548177
forum-hosted CYOAs can be amazing but they require a lot of careful juggling of links, as I recall from when I started reading Prequel. I think I'd rather it have a proper comic-type page setup and navigation, but maybe use the forums for the suggestion part and link that in?
It's so weird that I kind of love the way Acid Flowers does things, except for the fact that you can't see old suggestions on old pages.

So due to Tumblr's shitty situation, I went and joined the numerous new artists on Newgrounds. It's like a combination between Deviantart and Snafu forums (my first forum experience), so it was pretty tempting to join, especially when it's a very creator-driven site.

I write/draw my own lettering, which is especially useful in personalizing the dialog for my different characters. It's essentially another design layer when I create a new character. For example, here's a photo close-up of the lettering I'm using for upcoming an antagonist in this week's FaustFall update.

i see people saying this about OPM all the time, I think what they may fail to understand is its the result of what looks like somebody pushing out a story on a manga schedule, not a webcomic schedule. does anything know how it originally updated? cos i doubt it was one page a week, or even one page an update.

7 Weeks worth, assuming you upload weekly. There's always something that's gonna screw you. Don't let it.
Make the day before upload day your rest day and start drawing once you've finished uploading. Rinse and repeat.

False. You can create an account with email _or_ phone. I would wager the same is true of most social media sites.
>>
>>104550489
Create the account and then you'll get asked to verify with your phone number
>>
>>104550522
I just created an account using an email (via desktop/web), and it just required a verification code sent to that email. At no point in the account creation process did it ask me for a phone number.

If you proceed to set up login verification, it will need a phone number to send an SMS to, but that's not mandatory (though probably recommended for security).

How are you signing up that it needs a phone number?

It's luck of the draw. If for whatever reason Twitter or Google suspects you're a bot they'll require phone verification. Facebook may want a photocopy of your ID (drivers license, birth certificate, etc.)

Google:

Twitter:
>For example, when signing up for a new account, you may be asked to provide a phone number and/or an email address.

I know you can't help it now, but next time you compose something like that, could you try either not making it so symmetrical or really double down on it? Having it line up that way without stylization looks awkward. You could totally make it work the way you have it, but it would require some work to really push that perfect symmetry as intentional.

Pic related is a good example of a similar composition. If you wanted your background character to be intimidating or looming, working with scale (like Ultron here) or changing the angle can help.
>>
>>104551902
Follow up:
If you actually care about improvement in any regards seriously studying any of these would help you a lot:
- Unironically LOOMIS (Fun with a Pencil and Figure Drawing, for general construction and drawing figures in 3D space.)
- Hampton Figure drawing
- Perspective Made Easy
- Force: Life Drawing for Animators (If you're only going to do one, PLEASE do this one)
- And do a heap ton of figure and gesture studies from life/photos, and study colors off of whatever artist you enjoy.
This "practice" does nothing to help you. You're suck in your comfort zone rather than challenging yourself whatsoever. Even ignoring construction and anatomy, your shape design and gesture are extremely work, meaning your cartoon characters have little appeal.
Even if you only want to draw cartoons, studying from life can only help you. Knowing proper anatomy lets you exaggerate it better, having stronger figures means your poses will look more interesting, and knowing proper perspective means you can do more interesting angles than these boring, head-on shots you dumped here.
I could do another long critique of these drawings, but that would probably be a waste of my time and yours because you aren't going to take the advice either way, because you haven't done it the tens of times in the past people have given you advice and I doubt you'll start doing it now.
If you actually pushed yourself in any regards you art would have improved massively over the run of West Tree, but that isn't the case. You've blamed your lack of skill on your age in the past when there are plenty of people younger than you who are massively better than you because they give two shits about the quality of their own artwork. No matter how much other people may bully you and rag on you, you are your own worst enemy.
And if you think I'm wrong, show us some improvement. I gave you plenty of resources, now use them.

At least regular colleges/universities are implementing more online/hybrid classes, but art classes would be a bit difficult to do without tossing traditional media aside in lieu of digital.

Aren't some schools posting their materials online for free now? Couldn't you theoretically get a art school education, just sans the actual degree?

"Still" is an odd word to use here. I think "Hold on..." makes more sense? Like if she just discovered it
tense is a bit off, probably better to say "You hid your smell" or "you've been hiding your smell"
also should be 'I can't* believe'
Also the idea of a scent-hiding spell that doesn't work up close is fantastic.

Hell you've always been able to just buy or read a textbook on your own, and do all of school yourself. The only part you really need is the teacher part, and my friend who went to MassArt said basically they didnt do any teaching, they were purely there to grade. They handed out assignments and you had to figure out what to do on your own. Sometimes your classmates would do the judgment. Sounds like a complete scam.
>>104554801
I hear that. Just let go of it. You can't affect the outcome now, it's going to be whatever it is. Sometimes it helps to be pessimistic and just assume you failed, let it go, and wait to see if you're pleasantly surprised. That way vidya can serve as consolation.

I got my twitter set up with that, but later realized I never use my minutes and stopped buying cards for the phone. So I guess that's an option lol

Actually it's like, let's say, few years ago he casted spell hiding spell on himself to avoid washing himself. Then in the fight he used dispell, to dispel the spell. The amazons got the first "shockwave" of his smell and it was to much for them but after they ran away and Ranshao unties Lin's sis the smell wears of a little bit and it's still awful but bearable for them to speak in it. Hence the smell hiding works very well up close (and expecially up close) and it can dispel fairly strong smells. So I think it shouldn't be "Hold on" because she didn't just noticed it. She just finally had a chance to speak of it becase she was gagged before.
But thank you for checking as always.

sometimes it works, but most of the time I think we aren't really focusing on the right things. That's one of the best potential benefits of these threads, sometimes you need something other than the same cookiecutter instruction, or being re-reminded of flaws you're already painfully aware of.

Nyammers, you're winding us up too hard. It's getting too real.

You can't say the people who study the hardest suck the most when the worst artists in these threads consistently ignore advice and critique. If you study hard you will stop sucking. Really dipping my toes in new waters today, my first digitally colored page. I tried to keep it looking like my marker work, but with infinite ink I was able to have a bit more fun. If there are any seasoned digital pros hanging around right now, it would be really cool to hear some criticism, I know I'm not amazing at this but I'm dead set on improving.
>>
>>104562292
It's kind of funny because my deepest most hard felt sexual fantasy is to find an artist GF online that I'll never actually meet with but can exchange art with and make love to intellectually over the innertubes. The brain is the best sex organ.

A lot of us do Anon. I myself have read through lots of books on both fine art and comics; Scott McCloud, Abel and Madden's Mastering Comics to name a few, and even thumbed through Loomis a few times. (I still find myself thumbing through it from time to time for references on specific things like perspective and anatomy.) I've attended a few life drawing classes, watch lots of "how-to" videos online, and most important of all, practiced and put all these theories into practice.

I'm confident to say I'm leagues better than what I was 6 years ago because of these practices.
>>
>>104562527
glad you're feeling that digital freedom. kinda weird arm in the 4th panel but this comic requires a lot of cheating and changes for the visor at different angles so that's fine.
Linewise it looks like you could use a little more confidence, but you will with practice.
>>
How do you get better at coloring? I'm completely scared of it and don't know where to start.
>>
>>104562539
Very interesting anon. Can you tell me more about your deep hard felt fantasies?
>>
>>104562573
yeah that arm and some of the lettering aren't my best. I think I understand what you mean by confidence and I'll continue to work on that as well. Hopefully by the time I hit my second volume it'll be looking pretty good

I'd like to know the intricate details of the female mind. I want to make a connection there. The eyes are the window to the soul, art is the way in. I want to find a woman who would masturbate to my art. I want to give her orgasms. I want my art to have the single most powerful emotional response possible. And vice versa.

I'm already doing the first three of these, but failing hard at the fourth. It's so hard to distance yourself from your own work and think about how the audience has no idea what you originally planned, and will NEVER know if you change something for the better. I think sometimes we fall in love with this idea of brilliant creative visions when real life just isn't like that.

I just logged into my web comic host, which is smack jeeves after 11 months, I am surprised I haven't been deleted yet.

I have been mostly working on physically inking Rococo and one collaborative project recently. Prospect of being disappeared from a platform that I had been using for the past 7 years is effecting me to an unexpected degrees.

I almost didn't color this page, I wanted to get the story out as soon as possible. I just wasn't happy with how bare everything is with just simple shadings and a bit of accent. I guess I should have spotted more. There are some effects that I had in mind just doesn't translate well in grayscale. The storyboard and completed pages together are 48 pages long so far but I am only 7 pages into it after 11 months. I don't have appropriate commitment for this I am so ashamed.

Can't say for the others, but smackjeeves doesn't. My first comic is still up from early 2000's even though all the images have been since deleted from photobucket.

There's one exception: You used to be able to contact Admin and have him delete or move a comic if you wanted a specific name but the comic sitting on that name hadn't updated or been abandoned for a long time, but I honestly don't know what's going on since it has been bought out.

Xmas is the time when the majority of people have time off to chill. If anything it might be one of the best times to update. It'll help remind readers that you are still active, and you might catch the eye of new readers who are looking for stuff to pass the time after they already read their usuals. If it puts you out, don't worry about. Take the time off too, if you need it.

Before I read this though, worldbuilding is ultimately secondary to the story and characters- there are tons of good stories with shit worldbuilding but not a lot without the other two

the jagged lines are a little too thick, they distract the eye by looking like text (and because theyre hand-drawn and slightly imperfect, they run into each other)

The more I read this the more I dislike it- Alodia looks like scumbags but emotional cues and focus suggest they're the good guys, don't present them like this.
>corporatist
>expansionist
>>>>>empire
>military-industrial complex
>growth
>CEO
>human test subjects

>The people are deeply optimistic and worship various deities due to the assimilation of various outside groups the only truly native religious beliefs are the animist practices and ancestral veneration
Alodia or Acura? The paragraph was just talking about Alodia and it directly says its them 5 words later, but it's entirely out of place with their characterization so far

>The rivals of Alodia is the kingdom of Zealestria an empire composed of birth right monarchies bound together by a Council formed of each district's ruler compared to Alodia's meritocracy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xsj5xjoLXtE
If they're named for being zealous and traditional, the others have normal names

The document also doesn't describe the tech level of the setting beyond implicitly- the best guess I have is 1900s because the kingdom of Zeal has dragons powering steampunk and that's not an advantage past that

>It flops because they're all fresh out of college and don't run a company well
>Some people who are in these threads lose money because they paid for printed copies, but the company fell apart before they got any traction.

Of course, anon forgets to point out that Jim had left the company long before all the shit went down, but people can't be bothered to look into things.

Yeah... we're working on a wordpress now. Which we should've done from the start, but three years ago when we started the comicpress download link was dead and we were both frustrated because we already had a set launch date so we said "fuck it, tumblr will be fine."

It sucks because we lost about 1k-2k viewers as a result of them fucking things up, both for our site and the artist's blog. But we'll figure it out. Tapas has done us reasonably well, and we have fun community engagement over there when we want to; but ultimately we need to properly get our own site up.

It's a thing. We'll figure it out. Honestly, my dream would be to have a site as functional as Rice-Boy.com, nice and clean and simple.

Until then, we're on here: https://tapas.io/series/The-Sisters

We're about 1.5 chapters from the end of this arc. Plus the epilogue of course. Gotta have that Christmas Party.

I crunched some numbers and an update that would be the 26th for me ends up being the 25th in america, where most of my audience is.
a lot of people usually have the tv on for get togethers and parties, but very rarely would they be reading webcomics together :P
guess ill update per usual and see what happens.
>>
>>104557398
what do you mean by this?
>>
>>104576834
It's not like they can't just wait and read it later. it's not going anywhere
>>
>>104576850
reminds me of the hilarious angels in Dogma
>>
>>104576901
Ok so, I've never watched Dogma, and I have no idea if you're being sarcastic or if you genuinely think it's funny. Because I find my 'comedy' Garfield tier.

That's probably one of the best compliments we've ever gotten. Thank you for that.

Another belated update, but had some last-minute errands, so this one took longer than expected, lol.

Anywho, FaustFall update! Luther's fuckin' pissed!

Got another fountain pen doodle of a future FaustFall character. A Whelp called Wulf the Warden, secondary protagonist for the series. His body keeps a ferocious deity imprisoned inside it, while he chases after the elusive Eva and fights off fellow Whelps seeking to free their deity from his body. The more suffering he endures, the more ferocious his retaliation becomes.

Thanks mate! I'll be sure to thank you after Newgrounds is back up. Lotsa traffic over there (good thing in my book.)

Aw jeez when I made that first comment I knew it might look sarcastic. Naw dude that's a compliment.
>>104576962
I think it's just the way they handle the problems in their lives. most people I come into contact with can't handle that someone was mean to them once 20 years ago without making that EVERYONE ELSE'S PROBLEM forever

Good lord, that's blurry as fuck! Resized it to the wrong resolution. Here's a better one.

Thanks mate! Good to know my experimenting with textures is working. Trying to strike a balance between heavy textural line-work with legible visuals.

What's the best way to place a tablet to draw comfortably?
I'm stuck with a giant tube monitor atm and I barely have any room on my desk to put the tablet so any attempt to draw looks like utter shit.
>>
>>104577453
if it has any kind of legs that prop it up, put it on top of where your mouse goes, with the mouse comfortably underneath.
then when you're done, put it somewhere else
>>
>>104577521
It doesn't have legs.
>>
>>104577534
prop it up on something? put a stapler there I guess
or move your mouse out of the way til youre done
>>
>>104577560
Okay, I'll give it a try.

I put a rubber eraser under each far corner of the tablet. Gives me a ~10º angle which isn't much but it's better than when it laid flat
