I just wanna sleep in. The weekend can’t come fast enough.
I need to finish my 1st draft, holy fuck.
repostan progress. i had a few questions: how much of a backlog should i have before i start posting my comic online? is a page a week acceptable? are chapters at a time better? is posting a scene at a time viable(like 3-5ish pages)?
i need to finish my page, christ
>>104535387meant to post this one. just started on inks and it seems like if im able to draw a few hours a day i can get a page done in one week. itll be a struggle though since im working full time and have to balance spending a little time with my wife
I wanna make a comic about a big tiddy succubus gf an idiot /x/-phile summoned and gets to work a shitty office job in hell administration.
>>104535418I’m in the same boat with you in regards to spending time outside of comics that don’t involve vidya or hobbies. As for your question of backlog, it’s tough to say. If you can finish a page a week, and still have time to spare (probably getting started on the next page) then you’re gold. It would probably be best to have at least a good 5 weeks worth of updates ready in case anything comes up.
>>104535387I really like those expressions
>>104535430I'll write it for you. Sounds goofy
the last one was archived so quick!I don't have anything new yet so here's a character I plan on introducing in the future
Name says it all. I wanna write for an artist or have an artist draw for me. Dont care about the genre. I've written some stuff for an artist on here and they liked my writing. I'm on mobile and I can post some sample scripts I've done if anyones interested.
>>104534886This is HYW thread #523.
>>104534886Previous thread (#522):>>104510376>>104535387A page a week is fine; it's less the number of pages a week and more the consistency of which you update. If you can't handle a set schedule like every Friday, than you are better off waiting until you can handle it.Some comics update on a chapter/issue schedule, but they are less likely to gain traction due to not being frequently updated. People tend to forget things that aren't part of their weekly/daily schedule. Scene updates feel lurchy to me, like sitting in a car with someone who's just learning to drive. Gas brake gas brake *vomits* gas brakeThe other anon is right about 5 weeks of updates being good for a buffer.
>>104535430That sounds very much up your alley
>>104535657she's super cuteI imagine her sounding just like Clarice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9aw5YrYz8I
>>104535897oh I can definitely hear that
>check the stats on a webcomic I haven't updated in a couple years>dozens of viewers and hundreds of page views every day for monthsHuh. Wasn't as dead as I though.
>>104536452give them an update on the front page letting em know what happened, y'bastard
>>104536472I did, that's why I checked the statistics.
Have you seen a single cent off your webcomic? The answer better be "yes"
>>104537156i do it for free
>>104535490yeah, its tough to make everyone happy(including yourself). i get 4-5 hours of sleep a day because late night is the only time i get to myself and sometimes if i get too absorbed into something im drawing ill punch it all the way till morning and end up with 2 hours or less. growing up sucks, but i guess it is what it is. im trying to make the best of it. But 5 weeks, that sounds good. over 10 years ago when i was just out of high school i used to update my webcomic two times a week(since i didnt have a job or s/o). so hard to believe i was able to do that.>>104535580thanks! thats an area that ive been working on since its one of my(many) weaknesses>>104535789gotcha. you’re right. i thought maybe having a complete scene at a time would be good but when you put it that way it makes sense to just be consistant. i guess i worry sometimes that a page a week isnt enough to keep readers interest.so the line webtoon site is more suited for posting a chapter at a time? the other site ive heard of is tapas. am i being an asshole if i host my comic on every site i can? (theduck, comic fury, tumblr, etc)
>>104537505>so the line webtoon site is more suited for posting a chapter at a time?Apparently every update is called an "episode" and it's multiple single panels one after each other in a linear format in each one. Seems like a terrible idea.>Am I being an asshole?Only for using tumblr, post purge.
>>104537505>inspiration and work ethic only show up at nightboy I know that too well
Somebody emailed(?) the newgrounds creator about webcomics and posted their response on twitter. (? because I can't find it in either of their post history to confirm, so I'm guessing it's a direct message of some sort)I guess not too far from now you can add newgrounds to the list of webcomic hosts that are available.
>>104537736When done well it actually looks pretty nice. but it is a completely different look and feel from a traditional comic.
>>104538037Fucking yes, I want this. I've always wanted to do a limited motion comic (sort of Homestucky gifs/flash)
>>104538037I'm not going to expect a site that old do add any new format just to cash in on the tumblr exodus.
>those dudes who havent updated in a monthupdate you fucking asholessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssyou know who you are
>>104538037I would be fucking HONORED to have a comic hosted on newgroundsthink that'd be a good place for a CYOA?
>>104538037Tom is a national treasure.
>>104538213Maybe they think nobody cares
>>104538163I'd like to play the optimist, but I can't say you are wrong. However, the first two sound more like re-working preexisting features with minor tweaks, the last one is the only thing that sounds new-new. I don't know enough about coding, but they sound reasonably feasible.>>104538363National "comment on your favorite webcomics" day when?
>>104538552>National "comment on your favorite webcomics" day when? They don't even have to be your favorite webcomics, just webcomics that you enjoy/enjoyed. I think too many people are afraid of actually posting comments but I think creators definitely get more inspired from it. Who knows, you could be the thing that gets them through the day.
>>104538630ill post a comment once they put the page out
>>104538630for me that's every dayeven ones that havent updated in a year, every so often I'll drop them a line
>>104538825That's good, they're lucky to have you as a fan.
>>104538825I wish you were my fan
>>104538946but I am! i love everyone in your comic. I didnt notice it had a comments field, Ima comment right now.
>>104539055>>104538630this actually got me through the fucking week and a bit of the next one
>>104538630The same should go for artists when interacting with other artists. Artists especially should show love, I know it's not "professional" but we're all broke here anyway. Think about how good it feels to have another artist that likes your work actually say that they like your work.
>>104539770What a stupid concept. There's absolutely no reason two artists should get along, just because they share the same hobby. There's some weird ass fandom shit. "love and tolerate" brony garbage.
>>104539981I didn't say you had to get along, I said if you like someone's stuff, you should say you like it.
>>104539354You have no need or reason to be concerned, your work is beloved and was the moment you entered these threads.
>>104539770>I know it's not "professional">artists interacting with other artists....What? Who told you that?Artists are always told to interact with their peers, it helps build networks like any other career that requires references and knowing the right people. The only thing actively shunned is moron level interactions like tumblr-esque ""callouts"".
>>104540118Just noticing most artists here are kind of cagey with that stuff.
>>104540188That's because they get pounced on by a pack of anti-hugbox wolves and have the obvious facts of their thirst and desperation exposed, and never let up on.
>>104539981most hyw comics are really good imo so I never really feel like I need to force myself to engage, if that's what you're saying.>>104540109thank you man, this gives me strength
>>104538213>more than half a year for me. Oops.
>>104540808it's expected of the professionalsit's like how we understand venture bros and rick and morty take 2 years to make 8 episodes. it's all being done by hand and with copious creator voicing
is it wrong if you trace from fanart from your own comic?
>>104540981its funny. hah, what a concept
>>104540981and present it as your own? yeah
Anyone want to give me some scraped webcomic ideas i can play around with?
>>104538630>>104538718If you're following the artist on social media, reblogging their update announcements is also good. I pretty much do this automatically with any webcomic updates and kickstarter announcements, etc, that come up in my feed.
>>104541021>>104541038>>104541086Alright, alright, what if said fanart was a redrawn panel used for them to prove how there such a better artist than me? you know, some dickish fanart?
>>104540965Yeah but I’m far from being pro.
>>104541163a cute snail that eats the fuck out of someone's entire garden

>>104541211if you say so>>104541207draw an imitation of it. last thing you want to do is give them ammunition. Ideally make it so that, if that person complains and points it out to others, they will have to expose themselves as an asshole

>>104537156My wit is a public service to humanity
Do you guys use a font or do you do the lettering yourself?
>>104541163A guy with a camera for a head thinks he recorded a Mob hit and freaks out. He spends the comic paranoid that the mob is after him and making plans to skip town but obstacles always prevent him from doing so. Well coloring came in for the next TnA Tales story. This one is gonna be a simple story where the duo have to escort a desk jockey out after he quits his job. But we all know it's never simple in these stories. TOM N ARTIE TALES HERE: https://tapas.io/series/TOM-N-ARTIE-TALES
>>104541401some use a font, others hand-letter.
>>104541401I do the lettering myself. I highly recommend an Ames lettering guide if you’re planning on doing your own lettering. They are overall pretty cheap, and can save you some headaches.
>>104541569that is a handsome horse
>>104541163Sure.A battle-royale tournament of animals competing to become a powerful witch's familiar. Aesthetically, the characters would look naturalistic, while humans only appear as vague shapes. But it would be too niche, and I can't draw animals. It might be popular as a furry comic, but alas, I have neither the technical skill, nor the inclination to pull it off.
>>104541351>travel comic where the plot is just the tripI love shit like that. Always wanted to do something like it. But then I remember Blame! already exists, so there's really no point.Blame! is such a masterpiece, to me it's up there with sci-fi classics by Asimov, Lem, Strugatzki and arguably did better what Borges tried in Library of Babel...
Here's some panel art!Having a lot of fun going back to this, Erin has a visitor.
>>1045414851+ on the cheap but worthwhile purchase. Mine was under $3, before tax. Only downside is you need a good t-square to make it worth it or run the risk of making everything slanted at an angle.>>104541401If you want an intermediate option, you can make a font using your own handwriting. All the perks of digital, without the generic font feel.
ok, instead of tracing i used the fanart for reference instead.Goddamn that looks fine, I'm gonna have to start putting even MORE effort into my comics!
>>104542752I have been absolutely thirsty for a road-trip RPG story for a number of reasons. Like for one thing, real oldtimey people didnt just trek for miles, they would get a fucking wagon or at least horsesI have this idea that you could get around a ton of the usual cliches by having just the hero be a teenager and the entire rest of the party is old farts. and they spend large stretches of the story just inside the caravan, listening to old stories.. the kid learns a lot, it's a good time.
>>104542982great expressive poses.I'll learn those someday!
>>104541485how do you write with this thing in the way?
>>104542992perspective is tough, but I think it's going to do wonderful things for your art if you really practice it. I still remember drawing scenes where there's a fence and then that is just where the horizon stops because I was damned if I was gonna keep trying to draw behind the bars..Looks like the pickle guy needs to go over his Guild EMA level guidlines again..
>>104542982Aren't you the guy praying the Christian gospel except it's not angry men punching each other in the desert but cute robot waifus doing cute things?
>>104541163>everything you hate, bundled into one storyeither try to salvage it or crash it all midway through>everything you think sells, bundled into one story... I'm actually not sure how I feel suggesting this, the worst case scenario of Mass Appeal: The Comic is that it works>dark fantasy wild westRequired viewing:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yywGI1H_oyM>WW2/modern military vs LovecraftCaveats:1) make the monsters stronger than machines- everyone who clicked the link wants to see 'tanks dueling with horrors' or whatever that line in Chapter Master Quest was2) don't have the gods show up at the last minute to force a bad end- it feels like whoever is writing is checking the Wikipedia page for cosmic horror to make sure it technically works2.a) don't use Nyarlathotep. Apart from showing up everywhere, all the other characters look like idiots for falling for his bullshit3) the only rule in space is that there are no rules, throw in some OC. Like, nowhere in the stories is there a speaker-weapon, and they get fired into cities like mortars, and anyone who hears them gets vibrated to death, and they're audible for miles... but that wouldn't be out of place
>>104542992Is the red lady supposed to be transparent? Did you fuck around with the opacity settings of your color? This has to be intentional!

>>104543194You could have said "you put it atop a ruler and slide it side to side" in less time than it took you to get that link and me to watch itWeird. the ruler would have to be held down pretty securely for that to be reliable.
>>104542992The heavy referencing on the second panel just highlights your lack of technical skill even more. The guy who drew the original, Golyhol, has made huge improvements over the past year because he continues to push himself to draw better and better and actually takes criticism to heart, while you continue to draw the same stale ugly shit. Imagine how good your art would look if you put any amount of effort into studying, or took critique to heart? You are your own worst enemy and seeing that one good heavily reffed drawing compared to your normal trash just shows it even more.

It also has ridiculous shortness and a calf that is trying to escape from the leg. but every time you lie and say he's "not listening to critique" you're making it harder for him to figure out what he's doing wrong.and yet, no matter how many times this practice of yours is criticized, you keep it up. year after year, same shit.

>>104544267Read it. Thus I'm aware how it ended. It's not very good.
>>104543422I haven't read your comic yet, but I really like the artstyle, so I'll get to it eventually. I agonize a lot over spiritual questions and a lot of my webcomic ideas build on religious mythology, most prominently Chrisitian. In fact, my next comic is loosely based on Milton's Paradise Lost.I hope I can ask this question without sounding like an asshole, but aside from Theodize, inherent contradictions and the more abstract ethical considerations, how do practicing Christians get over practical stuff like the council of nicea where huge chunks of the bible were effectively retconned throughout history through chance or political motive? Sure, you could argue that it's all part of god's plan to create the "true" version of the Bible, but that would put 'correct' beliefs in a narrow historic frame for no apparent reason. I've talked to people who say they believe in God but can give no explanation what that means and seem to have no awareness where their faith comes from and how it has evovled historically. If your concept of God relies on the scriptural framework it becomes as fallible as the people who built it and if your concept of God is abstractly idealistic, there's no need for a framework at all. And between these points, I could neve adapt any kind of belief and I envy people who can but I don't understand them.
>>104544703>a lot of my webcomic ideas build on religious mythology, most prominently Chrisitian. In fact, my next comic is loosely based on Milton's Paradise Lost. Not yanking your britches down, brah, but that's a bit like saying "Oh you're into anime? I loved Xiaolin Showdown!"
>>104544703And now that I've read the rest of this post.. Hoo boy. It's not hard, dude. TLDR nothing catholic is right. They just slapped vaguely christian labels onto what they were doing already, and the whole world (including/especially enemies of the faith or religion at large) ate it up and never questioned its legitimacy, until Luther kinda tried his best at fixing it, but it's all still derived from that illegitimate origin unless you start the fuck over.Listen to a messianic rabbi sometime and he'll set you straight. The hebrew scriptures have remained 99% unaltered for thousands of years (Yeshua himself said roughly "not a single Z will ever disappear from the scriptures" ... There's just a couple decimal points people aren't quite sure on)
>>104544703Anon, the Bible's got fucking unicorns in it. Nobody reads that shit. People just go through the paces because that's how they were raised.
>>104544820Ooff, that's dangerously accurate. I apologize.
>>104544967it's okay dude, it's a subject people don't know shit about, but think they do. that comes with the terraincase in point >>104544916You're actually asking questions. That's what a sensible person does when they hit a subject that seems illogical. They take a good-faith approach to the people they're analyzing, and assume they must have some reason. To do otherwise is to be like Egoraptor flailing at a videogame and wondering why it's so broken, why were AAA game designers so STUPID? Why didn't they give me a button for this?
>>104544383Relaaax, you're not believable if you deviate too much from your original point
>>104545059It's not like a game of Bloodbourne, anon. I'm not sure you understand that.
also unicorns are probably real. there's nothing weird about bovidae with their horns twisted into one horn, that's something you can just DO.the actual thing in question, the Re'em (lazily mistranslated as unicorn) is significantly less real (at least the folklore version, god knows whether that's what it's referring to, or the real thing, or some other thing entirely), but it's being used in a figure-of-speech manner (essentially "could you put a nosering in Babe the Big Blue Ox and lead him around? No you couldn't, you dopey cunt")
>>104545124>unicorns are probably realChristians, everybody.
>>104545172https://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-news-from-elsewhere-39704683it's pretty damn biologically plausible, dude.unless you're one of those extratards who draws them as a horse (no offense to Tom n' Artie guy. Or for that matter Double Blade, another hyw alumnus that's keen on Jesus). You can't have a horned horse.. unless it has some fucked up disease. But historical unicorns are always drawn distinctly bovid (karkadann is another thing entirely though, that's just some guy describing a rhino)
>>104544888>>104545021I just did a quick search on Messianic Judaism, I wasn't aware this faith existed, actually.
>>104543730>>104543680>>104542992Gloryhol's recent horror comic has more concurrent readers than you've ever had in the past four years. I guess that's totally not reflective of anything on your writing or art though, right? It's all just one big conspiracy to put you down rather than see you actually improve your work.I'll put this as bluntly as possible. You're an awful person. Spumae Terrae. You can't take a lick of criticism and actively refuse to do anything to change the way you present yourself or your mess of a comic. You carry yourself like you're better than anybody else, but yet nobody reads your awful fucking comic because it's outright torture. If someone was a prisoner of war and was given only "West Tree" as reading material, the UN would put their foot down on the prison camp's rules because it clearly breaks the Geneva Conventions. You got scammed by Jim Shaw and his friends because you are an idiot, a moron, and a gullible kid that has too much free time on his hands wasting everyone's time by pumping out more and more obnoxious content than taking the time to refine ideas. You miss that $75? I'll be Jim is having a great time with seventy-five dollar-menu items with your daddy's cash right now.If I had a choice between living with you or both of us dying, I'd take us both out, knowing full well that the world would be a better place without the black hole of ineptitude known as "The Dewd". Not a single word of this is going to go through that inbred, backwater skull of yours though. You're going to say something stupid like "lol u mad", because that peanut sloshing around in your malformed skull can't think of more than a couple hard ideas in a day before it shuts down.Your parents are failures, your friends and peers are spinless cowards, and you are beyond help or advice. Continue to crash and burn as you were, you fucking nobody.
>>104545247Wait are you the guy who gave a history lesson a few threads back on how the imagery of the unicorn has been so diluded over time that it no longer resembles the medieval descriptions whatsoever?Super fascinating stuff. I'm still wondering, as we know that the modern label of unicorn is incorrect, what is the thing which everyone is refering to?
>>104545247>it's pretty damn plausibleNo, it isn't.
>>104545336I remember that subject coming up and I definitely participated in some capacity.Labels are funny that way. Things get co-opted, change, we just want to know what to call stuff but it's never that simple. Interesting it should come up in the religion discussion since that's so very relevant there.I tend to just say 'horned horse' but it goes over about as well as calling Taiwan 'the real China' and expecting people to get me.The nice thing is, when it comes to a winged horned horse, there's no problems there, since you can just say a winged horse fucked a unicorn, or a winged unicorn fucked a regular horse... hybrids are allowed to be biologically implausible.
>>104545378I don't know what else you need to see. People have surgically combined the horn buds of sheep and goats, and here one has been born with its horns fused. It's not going to go granting sparkly wishes or anything, any more than an owl is going to dispense advice or instruct you on the resiliency of a given lollipop to your saliva, but owls are still real.
>>104545268Dewd has a way of making you feel pity in one moment and blind rage in the next. His unintentional baits are more effective than the painstaking masterpieces crafted by bones. It took me over a year before I finally stopped giving dewd spelling advice, because he's so ingeniously convincing as someone just barely willing to improve, but never EVER actually does so. Just let this be the last time we react to one of his posts.
>>104545268lol u mad
>>104545440>owls are real>therefore unicorns are real and the Bible is trueIt's like talking to a flat earther.
I don't know why this is an argument, but yeah there were cousins of rhinos which had hair and single horns, and from afar probably looked like horses or ponies.
>>104545476already mentioned, that's a separate mythological thing.they even talked about its rage, and being calmed down by those little birds that perch on rhinos
>>104545476>and the bible also mentions behemoths, which were probably dinosaurs!
>>104541163wait, I just remembered-do something with this concepthttp://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/7865790/
/hyw/, I don't want to alarm you, but I think there may be a TROLL in this thread!
>>104545526Oh shit dude, thanks for warning me.
>>104545508Oh. Well if we want to get into mythology, the bible is a ripoff of early middle eastern religions, including Akkadian tablets. Indra, Zeus, Marduk are all the same story, Cain, Abel and Seth is the story of Osiris, Set and Horus, etc etc. The problem with believing in the bible at face value and as the literal truth is that its believing in a game of mythological telephone. Lets go back to talking about our comics.
>>104545599>"it's all just magical telephone!">repeats a bunch of endlessly-repeated shit every babbu's first atheist memorizes

>>104545473Actually his argument was:>mythical properties attributed to a creature are not inherently arguments againts its existenceThe problem with that argument is that we can completely separate the myths surrounding owls from the zoological animal, but can hardly do the same thing for the unicorn. In conclusion, everyone is stupid except me.
>>104544703No need to worry about sounding like a jerk anon! It's important to have questions and knowing how to answer them properly. If anyone got any questions regarding christianity just ask me, I'll do my best in answering! The Word is incorruptible and unchanging, even with the council whom members claimed to be led by the Holy Spirit, they were just human and we're pretty flawed, it doesn't matter what they alter because in the end, the Word still exists in an original form.>But can you not make the argument that the one, true bible would be one written in ancient hebrew? You could. But then how would anyone read the one true Word if it’s only accurate in its original language? Some people actually claim that and that’s too far. You have to rely on the Holy Spirit to carry the Word to all corners of the Earth, through whatever means necessaryNow consider things like the Council’s decisions. If indeed it was led by the Holy Spirit, which I believe it was, then we can safely say that the Word remains uncorrupted even through translation and the length of time that’s passed since the time of the Apostles.(cont)
>>104545468lol, u bad at drawing :^)
>>104545651only because they're deaduntil people discovered what orang-utans actually were, they were just a weird myth from borneo about weird orange hairy guys. Same shit for gorillas if I'm not mistaken. There's a ton of neat shit that, if it's real, it's dead. Thunderbirds, etc. This is where we get into cryptid territory, and you have to don your tinfoil hat tight and strap in for a really fun ride.
>>104545702Fair, but i'll get better.
>>104545720>"In the morning I'll be sober, but you'll still be ugly!"--Probably Alfred Hitchcock or somebody.
>>104545689As for believing in God? I agree, sometimes people just don't know why they believe, sometimes it's due to tradition, being born and just... sorta raised to believe it and not give it much thought.I believe in God because of the Word, and its prophecies. It contains over 300 prophecies written by many authors over a century long period of time, all unrelated to each other, all depicting the birth, death, life, and message of one single man in history, Jesus Christ, who all historians agree existed, and whose major details of their life is wholely accepted. The chances of these prophecies all perfectly converging on this one man and all being fulfilled by this man is impossible unless there was divine intervention involved, making the Bible not only true, but God-breathed.If the prophecies are true, then that means the Word of God itself is true. And every single prophecy of Jesus Christ was 100% fulfilled.I also had some very peculiar spiritual experiences which led me to give christianity a shot after so many years of being agnostic.
>>104545720You've been saying that for years now.
>>104545739I'm so glad there are other fellow christians in this thread!>>104545769And i have been improving.
>>104545769And he has!His characters don't look like they're made of tape anymore. I remember when he couldn't even keep head shapes consistent, they were always sliding and warping around. Now I'm seeing almost deliberate attempts at a half-understood form of squash-and-stretch.
>>104545608I mean, really my point here was that the bible in a brief retelling of Jewish mysticism, so I don't know why anyone would discount the original versions of the stories, such as the Akkadian tablets depicting Genesis and the Flood. But I mean. Sure. Constantine was holy. heh. and Christianity fell from grace because it relied heavily on priests explaining the bible to those who couldn't read it, until the rise of literacy after the French Revolution.
>>104545786Lol prove it
>>104545739>And every single prophecy of Jesus Christ was 100% fulfilled.lol, sure, and unicorns exist.
>>104545786Dewd when the fuck did we get you too? Mazel tov.>>104545805Quite right. What's your favorite example of a webcomic that handled a tough subject that you'd normally cringe at even coming up, in a way you ended up enjoying? I've gotta go with Disregarding Reality. Poking fun at tranny shit with an actual character with Ranma gender-switching powers, who annoys the hell out of the people who really wish they could do that..
>>104545805Yeah the thread admitelly got a little derailed. If that anon wants to chat more privately, I have a discord, if people are interested in asking some questions in private too, i can send a link.
>>104545689So according to Christian doctrine, there are two things here right?1. Essence prevails. 2. Change is mediated through and intended by God.I guess, thinking along these lines will move the issue into the abstract, same as Theodize or evidence-abscence. I think I understand a bit better now, thanks.
Almost done with this, still got lots of work on the background character, and adding white outlines to hilda and peter. might even fuck around and add a background with some lesser characters.
>>104545841The problem with things that are so old that we don't have the original version of them is, you can never really say who said something first and who copied them. You can only say who got to the "publisher" first, or who's got the oldest surviving manuscript.Catholics intentionally refusing to allow things outside of Latin so they could control what people thought it said was fucked up, but crediting the French Revolution makes you as big a fedora as the people who unironically called their movement "The enlightenment"
>>104545880I've always been a good christian boy.
>>104545972good boys get headpats and honest, frank drawing advice.By the way I notice you're doing a lot of edge-hatching now, and you're keeping the lines pretty parallel. Good job.If the pickle guy really is supposed to be a flat pickle slice, as indicated by that first panel, maybe consider giving him a visible edge
Friendly reminder: if you ever feel bad about your art skills or your webcomic, at least you're better off than Dewd.
>>104545919also since we're dropping hate on dewd rn. I've been dropping rage at him for the last few days cause of his lack of care to clean up basic problems with his pages. here's what i had to say.anyone who's been asked to join freakanimes, and didn't. Id bet 90% of the reason is cause you didn't want to associate with him
I just wish you guys would roast my comic and it's characters more.I mean look at jack, he's such a pussy, he's practically begging for it.
>>104546083I remember when people were hating on you just as hard and as irrationally. Surprised you'd be as into dogpiling after going through that, but I suppose you feel like your legit improvement means all those people were right.Only half of them were. And ganging up is never cool. Then again this is positively chill compared to how you've sperged out about him in the past, so I guess that's even more ways you've improved.
>>104546130Nep has an ugly elmer fudd face.Jack is cool, his only crime is having amnesia. I'm only just now realizing he's kind of the Frank Smith to SD's Steve.
>>104546132people hated on me cause I had a bad attitude towards crit. I wanted people to just have a cutesy little possive discussion about the latest page, and start shipping their favorite characters or whatever. but i hadent earned that. I stopped being stubborn and realized if I act like that I wont get better. dewd gets shit cause he does the same, and still refuses to take any of it to heart and learn from it. he thinks hes entitled to success.Bulling him is valid now because he still refuses to improve after years and years, if he wants to do that and still post the same shit again and again, and pretend as if he's earned positive discussion, no. he fucking deserves it.plus i have to deal with him being associated with my comic since were on the same collective. even if it barely matters. I said we needed quality control and some dignity when choosing for freakanimes, but what we got was a 2nd dewd comix and someone who treated our site owner like shit then straight up left without warning for the lols cause hes 12. fuck that.
>>104546360>if he wants to do that and still post the same shit again and again, and pretend as if he's earned positive discussion, no. he fucking deserves it.he deserves the bulling, not positive discussion. worded this like a retard sorry.
>>104546360Glad you're enjoying your status. Hope you never slip up.
>>104546360Getting mad is at Dewd is like getting mad at the homeless guy on the corner who screams at the air. It's no use and you only make yourself look dumb. Worse, your own comic is probably shit and just as bad as his, so worry about that instead.
>>104546402its not like i dont deserve some shit. my linework still doodoo, and the shading on the ghost character in my latest post wasnt that great, but ill always shit in dewd since he will call the rest of us slow since he puts out 5 garbage, barely finished pages a week.
>>104546467That just sounds like blind cluelessness, jeez. I hope he didn't mean that as it sounded because that sounded bad.Even so, kinda nice to see you guys talking so semi-amicably. I think we can all get along somedayyy
>>104546494this was when i first joined the collective and tried forcing myself to get along with him. that stopped almost a week in.
>>104546130The character designs are overall ugly looking. Your poses look consistently stiff. You have no sense of color whatsoever. Your panelling is boring and the writing is atrocious.Providing more detailed crit is a fools errand because there are no positive aspects to West Tree, if you wanted to make a comic people actually read you would have to completely start over with highly improved writing and art.
Sometimes I worry about my art being sonichu level, but then I figure if One could make it, so can I.
>>104546613I'm not one of those people, but there are many who are sick of OPM being touted arond like it negates everything else just by being one very unusual example.

NEW MAGDA AND THE SPIRAL!this page man, I swear this is going to kill mealso tapas update tomorrow morning...https://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/magda-and-the-spiral/63-visions/viewer?title_no=202490&episode_no=11
The process of rebubbling--and therefore rewriting--past pages continues. I'm starting to feel the pangs of pain that come with discarding your babies, but 9 times out of 10, the writing improves as it bends to the demands of less space. That said, this is a biting lesson in avoiding clutter. I'm not willing to completely redo these pages to make sure the bubbles fit perfectly, so I have to sit here and stare at how clogged up so many of the panels are.Experimenting with unique text bubbles for each ensemble cast member continues. Some work very well. Others...
>>104546730This comic is doing a fine job of fucking with my brain
>>104546749This is definitely doing something neat. It does help tell people apart, though not as well as different colors would. Writing is funny that way, it sure does get better with each draft.
>>104546730Do you like using webtoons? I'm looking for a host site and I was looking at it yesterday, But I don't think I like how every update is called an episode, and they seem to vertically arrange the pages into long columns.
>>104546749seems like an excessive amount of work having unique bubbles for each person
>>104541163tapas.io/series/jimmy-wilson Go fucking wild, it’s your’s now.
>>104546595>The character designs are overall ugly looking. Your poses look consistently stiff. You have no sense of color whatsoever. Your panelling is boring and the writing is atrocious.OK I see what your saying, but i don't see WHY your saying it your just spittin' insults dude.>Providing more detailed crit is a fools errand because there are no positive aspects to West Tree,Well yeah, you gotta point out whats bad in a crit
>>104546786It's become my life motto: No such thing as good writing, only good rewriting.>>104546811Not as much as you'd think. It's frontloaded, so I spent a few hours looking for neat baroque and rococo windows and architecture, drafted up a suitable bubble, and just work with that. In fact, I'm sure there's an even easier way of doing this that will come to me in time.
>>104546820you're just handing your comic over to whoever wants to take it?

since tumblr is exploding would it make sense to have an additional remirror to smackjeeves or newgrounds? i honestly prefer tumblr as the main host for the comic since i can put extra art on it and not be out of place
>>104546993Yeah, I feel the same about tumblr, but I can't call myself an artist and keep supporting it anymore.
>>104546988Dude, just give me a random completed drawing now. If you know what your flaws are now you'll know what to fix next time, I got shit to do tomorrow.

>>104547048Name one that works better for webcomcis.
>>104547033I’m not gonna say too much about it since the more I talk about a project the further my head goes up my ass. But anyways, here’s the cover for the next thing I’m working on. It’s essentially a really long coming of age story.

Works really well for scene transitions and such so I've never had any problem with that, about the chapters, yeah it sucks but I don't really care, I just put a number that shows which page is from which chapter and thats it, as long as the page is up I don't think readers really care

>>104547175Here you go.
>>104547175okay dewd when this guy redlines, try not to say a lot of my-style stuff. Obviously you made people tiny in the first panel on purpose, I hope anyone is aware of that. cartoon critique is hard compared to something ostensibly trying to be realistic, so be flexible.

>>104547576what. i haven't posted here for six months and no one ever mentions my comic

>>104547632oh gosh golly, I made a spelling error. Fixed though
>>104547616did you stop suddenly so we thought you died?or was it really, realllly boring like just army guys fighting in a normal army?
>>104547616ive posted here for a year and no one mentions my comic
>>104547705I wish I knew who these people wereI know it's a bad idea to expose yourself after something like that, as it seems like attentionwhoring, but maybe sometime if it comes up in passing on a discord or something.. have a chat about it. I don't like the idea of anyone getting ignored, and I feel like I talk about every comic.
>>104547075>>104547112A page to give you a little taste
>>104547768>I don't like the idea of anyone getting ignoredIt's true, I don't either. I would wager most of the creators here feel ignored at some point or another. It's just how it is when you decide to make art your 'thing'. When nobody's noticing it, you feel like nobody likes you. I think It's this feeling that can turn the weak artist into a self absorbed artist. If you've ever played the video game Darkest Dungeon, I think art is a constant sanity battle between reaching your breaking point, losing your mind and becoming a raving lunatic; Or reaching a point of clarity and buckling down to be something greater than you are now. The important part is realizing that any one of us can lose this battle at any point in time. So - you know - keep fighting.
>>104547955Potential!I'm having trouble following this scene though, simple as it is. One assumes they're facing each other as they talk, and then one-eye pulls a 180 to face his friends as he continues to talk to trevor
>>104548017It's so ironic how loneliness can make you self-absorbed but it's totally true.
>>104538037Yes. Newgrounds is literally the only website nowadays that's actually run by human beings.>>104538163NG's staff have been working for ages to update the site. Hell, even the Discord Server they ran ages ago had entire days where the staff would mull over ways to improve the website with the active users.>>104538215The NG forums are awesome for that. They've had tons of CYOA comics there.
>>104548048such vitriol and such truthdewd this is legit. I mean pretend they said it nicely instead of foaming and frothing, but listen to it. That color stuff especially. I seem to remember when west tree had a lot of great color and shading actually, some outdoor winter scenes at night with street lights hitting everything?I think I can use some of this advice myself, actually, especially that dramatic angle thing. I've never done that, and I should.
>>104548177forum-hosted CYOAs can be amazing but they require a lot of careful juggling of links, as I recall from when I started reading Prequel. I think I'd rather it have a proper comic-type page setup and navigation, but maybe use the forums for the suggestion part and link that in?It's so weird that I kind of love the way Acid Flowers does things, except for the fact that you can't see old suggestions on old pages.
>>104546625>>104546630I just wanted to feel like my creative story and comedy could compensate for the fact I'm a shit artist. I've always been creative but art wasn't ever my strongsuit.
>>104548292it can and it will if your writing actually backs up your claim
>>104548154Hmmm, I see what you mean. I’ll have to work on that, thanks for pointing it out!
It's a Mad Magic day, and you know what that means...Big butts.
So due to Tumblr's shitty situation, I went and joined the numerous new artists on Newgrounds. It's like a combination between Deviantart and Snafu forums (my first forum experience), so it was pretty tempting to join, especially when it's a very creator-driven site. Here's a link for anyone interested: https://crimsoneyedkeeper.newgrounds.com/ >>104541401I write/draw my own lettering, which is especially useful in personalizing the dialog for my different characters. It's essentially another design layer when I create a new character. For example, here's a photo close-up of the lettering I'm using for upcoming an antagonist in this week's FaustFall update.
>>104546625i see people saying this about OPM all the time, I think what they may fail to understand is its the result of what looks like somebody pushing out a story on a manga schedule, not a webcomic schedule. does anything know how it originally updated? cos i doubt it was one page a week, or even one page an update.
>>104535387>how much of a backlog should i have before i start posting my comic online?7 Weeks worth, assuming you upload weekly. There's always something that's gonna screw you. Don't let it.Make the day before upload day your rest day and start drawing once you've finished uploading. Rinse and repeat.> is a page a week acceptable? No. Not unless your art is R E A L L Y high-tier or you have an established fanbase.
>>104547326>twitter needs a phone number nowFalse. You can create an account with email _or_ phone. I would wager the same is true of most social media sites.
>>104550489Create the account and then you'll get asked to verify with your phone number
>>104550522I just created an account using an email (via desktop/web), and it just required a verification code sent to that email. At no point in the account creation process did it ask me for a phone number. If you proceed to set up login verification, it will need a phone number to send an SMS to, but that's not mandatory (though probably recommended for security). How are you signing up that it needs a phone number?
How's the market for transhuman space opera looking these days?>>104548548>Here's a link for anyone interested: https://crimsoneyedkeeper.newgrounds.com/Subbed on general principle.
>>104550647It's luck of the draw. If for whatever reason Twitter or Google suspects you're a bot they'll require phone verification. >>104548048Based anon. Saving this image as well for myself. Such simple tips that are so easily forgotten that can greatly improve any page.
>>104548048Thanks this is good stuff
>>104550913OK. So what are some examples of webcomics on those platforms?
>>104550647Try following other twitters and using the service for a day. I was locked out after half an hour.
>>104548048This is excellent and I'm saving it for myself as well. No idea what the anon who said you're "vitriolic" and "frothing" means, I think some people in /hyw/ take literally any criticism with the tone of an enraged soccermom who's coupon isn't working at the supermarket.
>>104551915And lastly fat and stocky sora
>>104545919I know you can't help it now, but next time you compose something like that, could you try either not making it so symmetrical or really double down on it? Having it line up that way without stylization looks awkward. You could totally make it work the way you have it, but it would require some work to really push that perfect symmetry as intentional.Pic related is a good example of a similar composition. If you wanted your background character to be intimidating or looming, working with scale (like Ultron here) or changing the angle can help.
>>104551902Follow up:If you actually care about improvement in any regards seriously studying any of these would help you a lot:- Unironically LOOMIS (Fun with a Pencil and Figure Drawing, for general construction and drawing figures in 3D space.)- Hampton Figure drawing- Perspective Made Easy- Force: Life Drawing for Animators (If you're only going to do one, PLEASE do this one)- And do a heap ton of figure and gesture studies from life/photos, and study colors off of whatever artist you enjoy. This "practice" does nothing to help you. You're suck in your comfort zone rather than challenging yourself whatsoever. Even ignoring construction and anatomy, your shape design and gesture are extremely work, meaning your cartoon characters have little appeal.Even if you only want to draw cartoons, studying from life can only help you. Knowing proper anatomy lets you exaggerate it better, having stronger figures means your poses will look more interesting, and knowing proper perspective means you can do more interesting angles than these boring, head-on shots you dumped here.I could do another long critique of these drawings, but that would probably be a waste of my time and yours because you aren't going to take the advice either way, because you haven't done it the tens of times in the past people have given you advice and I doubt you'll start doing it now.If you actually pushed yourself in any regards you art would have improved massively over the run of West Tree, but that isn't the case. You've blamed your lack of skill on your age in the past when there are plenty of people younger than you who are massively better than you because they give two shits about the quality of their own artwork. No matter how much other people may bully you and rag on you, you are your own worst enemy. And if you think I'm wrong, show us some improvement. I gave you plenty of resources, now use them.
>>104552745If you think those books will aid you better, use them. But whatever you do, please for the love of god study if you care about your art quality in any respect.

>>104554619of course to be fair, different art schools are very different. Some are just shit, some are great but they have pretty big flaws, some are good for some people but bad for others..it really sucks that in this day and age you still have to physically attend college, so they can only cater to people who live in or are willing to move to the area.
Hiya. I finally decided to try scanning pages with camscan. As you can see it's kinda grainy but it's also sharp. Yeah, only one page cause scanning with the app is easier so I'll be able to do it more often. Please check the English, please.>>104554020>I feel like it's a bad match for 70% of people.I can relate, thank goddess it's last year.links:https://www.deviantart.com/julia012https://utsukishirosaura.tumblr.com/post/167137490344/part-1-coverhttps://misssandy8.tumblr.com/https://www.patreon.com/MissSandy8https://tapas.io/series/Utsukishi-Rosaurahttps://mangaido.com/en/u/julka_dru/series
>>104554619>really goddamn miserable peopleDepressingly accurate.>>104554670At least regular colleges/universities are implementing more online/hybrid classes, but art classes would be a bit difficult to do without tossing traditional media aside in lieu of digital.Aren't some schools posting their materials online for free now? Couldn't you theoretically get a art school education, just sans the actual degree?
>>104554717"Still" is an odd word to use here. I think "Hold on..." makes more sense? Like if she just discovered ittense is a bit off, probably better to say "You hid your smell" or "you've been hiding your smell" also should be 'I can't* believe' Also the idea of a scent-hiding spell that doesn't work up close is fantastic.
>>104554020I hate it so goddamn much.Asshole teacher didn't even give the grade, i have to wait until Wednessday to see if i pass or fail. That's 6 whole days I'll be an anxiety filled wreck. The worst part is, is that i won't even be able to enjoy smash because that'll be stuck in the back of my mind.
>>104554749Hell you've always been able to just buy or read a textbook on your own, and do all of school yourself. The only part you really need is the teacher part, and my friend who went to MassArt said basically they didnt do any teaching, they were purely there to grade. They handed out assignments and you had to figure out what to do on your own. Sometimes your classmates would do the judgment. Sounds like a complete scam.>>104554801I hear that. Just let go of it. You can't affect the outcome now, it's going to be whatever it is. Sometimes it helps to be pessimistic and just assume you failed, let it go, and wait to see if you're pleasantly surprised. That way vidya can serve as consolation.
>>104551174I forgot they asked that shit. I don't use a cell and like hell am I giving anyone my landline number (which can't recieve texts so it wouldn't work anyways for most verification). At the time I made my twitter I was trying out this prepaid phone card thing, the phone itself was like $5 and the card with minutes was like $40. I got my twitter set up with that, but later realized I never use my minutes and stopped buying cards for the phone. So I guess that's an option lol
>>104554888You're the coolest person i know.
>>104554796Actually it's like, let's say, few years ago he casted spell hiding spell on himself to avoid washing himself. Then in the fight he used dispell, to dispel the spell. The amazons got the first "shockwave" of his smell and it was to much for them but after they ran away and Ranshao unties Lin's sis the smell wears of a little bit and it's still awful but bearable for them to speak in it. Hence the smell hiding works very well up close (and expecially up close) and it can dispel fairly strong smells. So I think it shouldn't be "Hold on" because she didn't just noticed it. She just finally had a chance to speak of it becase she was gagged before. But thank you for checking as always.
>>104554801Imagine the situation you would be in right now if you bothered to put any effort into drawing.
>>104555107is THAT what happened. Haha>she didn't just notice itoh okay then nevermind.
>>104555139I'll have it properly explained by the end of the chapter. Just other characters need to be healed up.
I remember this thing one user posted on this thread. It was a while ago; either early this year or last year. It was his idea for his comic, it layed out the story, setting, and characters. It was something about a boy living on an island or a town, and he had martial art abilities I think. I don’t remember much. I do remember that the anon’s English wasn’t very good. Anyway, I remember really liking it, but I didn’t think to save the image. Does anyone know what I’m talking about? Does anyone have the image? Does the creator still post here?
The rehauling continues. Once more, it is a biting, painful lesson to have to see so many pages be so weakened by last minute bubble placement. I had it all wrong.
>>104557240That said, i'm definitely more satisfied with this look.

>>104561701Who would have guessed such a simple thing would make me so happy? So nice to be grouped with other talented committed people.
>>104561930I'm not saying all of those are talented artists. Some of them still have a lot to learn. But they're clearly studying and know how to draw.
>>104561870Are you a dude?
>>104561944>clearly studying>no signs of improvement or progress
>>104561962I don't think you're skilled or honest enough to recognize signs of improvement.
>>104561606actually from what I've noticed, the ones studying the hardest are the ones who suck the mostsometimes it works, but most of the time I think we aren't really focusing on the right things. That's one of the best potential benefits of these threads, sometimes you need something other than the same cookiecutter instruction, or being re-reminded of flaws you're already painfully aware of.
>>104561870Nyammers, you're winding us up too hard. It's getting too real.Imagine there's this uneaten pie sitting on the table but you know you'll be dragged out of town behind a horse if you actually attach your name to the desire to eat that pie. do you really need the pie saying it's sad about being uneaten? Don't be that pie. start getting to know us one-on-one.
>>104562027You can't say the people who study the hardest suck the most when the worst artists in these threads consistently ignore advice and critique. If you study hard you will stop sucking. It may take some time, but there's a clear distinction between artists who take the time to study and consider critique, like Cancrizan, or Mermelada, and an artist like Bones or Dewd.
>>104562093>You can't say the people who study the hardest suck the most when the worst artists in these threads consistently ignore advice and critique. You're right, those two statements are incompatible. It's almost like one of us is lying.

>>104562093thank you for the shoutout :3
>>104562401Do you really need to be told who is and who isn't lying about studying paying off?
>>104562427I think the thing in question is who's studying at all, not whom is it working for. The latter does speak for itself.
>>104562503it's important for newcomers to know that there's someone in this thread that likes to pretend to be dewd for jokey joke jokes. basically whenever it would make him look bad.
Really dipping my toes in new waters today, my first digitally colored page. I tried to keep it looking like my marker work, but with infinite ink I was able to have a bit more fun. If there are any seasoned digital pros hanging around right now, it would be really cool to hear some criticism, I know I'm not amazing at this but I'm dead set on improving.
>>104562292It's kind of funny because my deepest most hard felt sexual fantasy is to find an artist GF online that I'll never actually meet with but can exchange art with and make love to intellectually over the innertubes. The brain is the best sex organ.
>>104562503Post your work.
>>104561560A lot of us do Anon. I myself have read through lots of books on both fine art and comics; Scott McCloud, Abel and Madden's Mastering Comics to name a few, and even thumbed through Loomis a few times. (I still find myself thumbing through it from time to time for references on specific things like perspective and anatomy.) I've attended a few life drawing classes, watch lots of "how-to" videos online, and most important of all, practiced and put all these theories into practice. I'm confident to say I'm leagues better than what I was 6 years ago because of these practices.
>>104562527glad you're feeling that digital freedom. kinda weird arm in the 4th panel but this comic requires a lot of cheating and changes for the visor at different angles so that's fine.Linewise it looks like you could use a little more confidence, but you will with practice.
How do you get better at coloring? I'm completely scared of it and don't know where to start.
>>104562539Very interesting anon. Can you tell me more about your deep hard felt fantasies?
>>104562573yeah that arm and some of the lettering aren't my best. I think I understand what you mean by confidence and I'll continue to work on that as well. Hopefully by the time I hit my second volume it'll be looking pretty good

It's so hard to distance yourself from your own work and think about how the audience has no idea what you originally planned, and will NEVER know if you change something for the better. I almost didn't color this page, I wanted to get the story out as soon as possible. I just wasn't happy with how bare everything is with just simple shadings and a bit of accent. I guess I should have spotted more. There are some effects that I had in mind just doesn't translate well in grayscale. >>104573469Nooo, the fire rises>>104573055Desu's search function is back up, /hyw/ 481 says:>Jim founds a comic publishing company with some college friends, called BluTrinity comics>It flops because they're all fresh out of college and don't run a company well>Some people who are in these threads lose money because they paid for printed copies, but the company fell apart before they got any traction.Of course, anon forgets to point out that Jim had left the company long before all the shit went down, but people can't be bothered to look into things. So Jim gets a bad rep through association.Which is pretty sad, because I've talked to him, he's actually a pretty cool and creative dude once you get to know him.Which frankly I wasn't expecting-I assumed anyone who got a bad reputation on 4chan would be a genuine piece of shitMore as the story develops
>>104573838>I assumed anyone who got a bad reputation on 4chan would be a genuine piece of shitAlways been the opposite in my experience. Although people in general do become what they're accused of over time.
I didn't realize how many comics with their own URL were actually being hosted on tumblr until now
>>104574083tumblr should be avoided at all costs. Just host it on one of the better sites thats designed to host comics.
>>104574083Well, fuck.What's missing?
>>104574223>>104574227what I mean is, there's comics saying "oh well we'll have to find a new home now" like The Sisters that i didn't know were ON tumblr because their url was their own
>>104564769>>104569246That's good to know. Now that I am almost done with the cover page I'll start posting Rococo's chapter 2 on the site.
>>104575014I also forgot to add that I experimented with the new "targeted colorize" settings, at the moment it is useful to add some color variance over the base colors, but its probably not going to color your comic for you.
How the fuck would a disease be undetectable or unrecognizable?
>>104575226have him be in a broom closet and he'll be in-character
>>104575071what does it do?
>>104575256Why would he need to be in a broom closet?
>>104575222you ever play Pandemic? Unless you're madagascar, it's not hard.
>>104575226resizing would be great
>>104575294Would people be satisfied with an explanation like that though? That most everybody was infected before anyone could find out what exactly it was?It feels like one of those things that people might find cheap or dumb.
>>104575284It's a new feature of Clip Studio that auto colors your artwork by using your linework as a reference layer and (if you choose) another layer with quick scribbles of color.Their is a browser program that does a similar thing called paintschainer if you want to mess with it.
>>104575285Harry Potter lives in a broom closet
>>104575435What do I have to do to get people to stop calling him Harry Potter

>>104575388i've heard of that, this sounded like something more specific within that
>>104575538I'M TELLING YA MAN, IT'S THE SHAGGY FRONT HAIR- BANGS, CENTRE SPLITAlso your audience doesn't necessarily know you can't make non circular glasses in medieval times
>>104575538stop reacting. he never did in the first place.
>>104575591harry's bangs aren't like that though
>>104575538get rid of the glasses
>>104575552nobody can agree on what, if anything, it does. we just all have it.
>>104575566ah.. I am sorry i mis-remembered the options. Its actually Edit> Colorize > Use Hint Image and Colorize
>>104575615It's still an element that gets associated with him. Someone also suggested Lennon glasses in the thread originally >>>104390240 and looking him up it actually does make his face look distinct despite also having those same elements. Say make his eyes less heavy though
>>104575842maybe that should be part of his characterpeople have been calling him harry and it pisses him off, just- oh right this takes place in olden times
did an art meme with Zo
>>104575935I'm not here often enough to recognize you, why are her eyes changing?

I use SAI to draw. What should I use to include text and speech bubbles?
>>104575901Fantasy world, to be exact. So either way it wouldn’t work. Eh, whatever if people think he looks like Harry Potter, oh well.
>>104574242Yeah... we're working on a wordpress now. Which we should've done from the start, but three years ago when we started the comicpress download link was dead and we were both frustrated because we already had a set launch date so we said "fuck it, tumblr will be fine."It sucks because we lost about 1k-2k viewers as a result of them fucking things up, both for our site and the artist's blog. But we'll figure it out. Tapas has done us reasonably well, and we have fun community engagement over there when we want to; but ultimately we need to properly get our own site up.It's a thing. We'll figure it out. Honestly, my dream would be to have a site as functional as Rice-Boy.com, nice and clean and simple.Until then, we're on here: https://tapas.io/series/The-SistersWe're about 1.5 chapters from the end of this arc. Plus the epilogue of course. Gotta have that Christmas Party.
>>104576308oh yeah in his world there's probably a popular series of stories about a kid that goes to regular school and learns social studies and math
>>104576349i like that nobody in this comic is so fucked up that I wouldn't want them as a friend.
>>104567008I crunched some numbers and an update that would be the 26th for me ends up being the 25th in america, where most of my audience is.a lot of people usually have the tv on for get togethers and parties, but very rarely would they be reading webcomics together :Pguess ill update per usual and see what happens.
>>104557398what do you mean by this?
>>104576834It's not like they can't just wait and read it later. it's not going anywhere
>>104576850reminds me of the hilarious angels in Dogma
>>104576901Ok so, I've never watched Dogma, and I have no idea if you're being sarcastic or if you genuinely think it's funny. Because I find my 'comedy' Garfield tier.
>>104576387That's probably one of the best compliments we've ever gotten. Thank you for that.
Another belated update, but had some last-minute errands, so this one took longer than expected, lol.Anywho, FaustFall update! Luther's fuckin' pissed!https://tapas.io/series/FaustFallhttps://www.webtoons.com/challenge/dashboardEpisode?titleNo=203841http://www.smackjeeves.com/comicprofile.php?id=178366
>>104577080Second page of update.
Got another fountain pen doodle of a future FaustFall character. A Whelp called Wulf the Warden, secondary protagonist for the series. His body keeps a ferocious deity imprisoned inside it, while he chases after the elusive Eva and fights off fellow Whelps seeking to free their deity from his body. The more suffering he endures, the more ferocious his retaliation becomes.>>104550952>Subbed on general principle. Thanks mate! I'll be sure to thank you after Newgrounds is back up. Lotsa traffic over there (good thing in my book.)
>>104577144For context, this is Eva the Harlot.
>>104577159And this is a Whelp.
>>104576919Aw jeez when I made that first comment I knew it might look sarcastic. Naw dude that's a compliment.>>104576962I think it's just the way they handle the problems in their lives. most people I come into contact with can't handle that someone was mean to them once 20 years ago without making that EVERYONE ELSE'S PROBLEM forever
>>104577080amazingly legible for being so busy
>>104577089Good lord, that's blurry as fuck! Resized it to the wrong resolution. Here's a better one.>>104577202Thanks mate! Good to know my experimenting with textures is working. Trying to strike a balance between heavy textural line-work with legible visuals.
What's the best way to place a tablet to draw comfortably?I'm stuck with a giant tube monitor atm and I barely have any room on my desk to put the tablet so any attempt to draw looks like utter shit.
>>104577453if it has any kind of legs that prop it up, put it on top of where your mouse goes, with the mouse comfortably underneath.then when you're done, put it somewhere else
>>104577521It doesn't have legs.
>>104577534prop it up on something? put a stapler there I guessor move your mouse out of the way til youre done
>>104577560Okay, I'll give it a try.
>>104577821>only 3 posts left>bump

>>104577453I put a rubber eraser under each far corner of the tablet. Gives me a ~10º angle which isn't much but it's better than when it laid flat
