Just finished Night Watch, pretty good. How much interaction do Vimes and Vetinari actually get over the course of the Watch-focused novels? Fan art leads me to believe it's a decent amount but I don't want to get my hopes up.
>>
>>
I saw the chart in the previous thread and I gotta ask: where is the /cm/ in Pere Goriot? I read like... halfway through it some months ago and I don't remember any of it
>>
>>
>>3284987
Judging by some of the other selections on the rec list, I assume that people are being pretty liberal with their submissions. Like, anyone who decides to wade through Les Misérables for /cm/ is going to be really disappointed.

I'm reading this right now, I'm sure a lot of you have read it too.

I keep thinking about it at work and getting depressed for some reason. It's like I relate too much to Patroclus in how he feels like nothing compared to Achilles. I dunno, it's like awakening some feeling of unworthiness in me that I didn't even know was there. And the funny thing is, neither Patroclus nor I can blame Achilles for it, he's entirely honest and won't stop caring for Patroclus ever, and doesn't see him as inferior. I also know already about the tragic event that happens later, but that's not stopping my enjoyment of the book.

Alas, sweet /cmlit/ thread, it was cool while it lasted. Thanks for all the nice gay shit.

Somebody should make an infographic with the rec list before this thread dies.

https://pastebin.com/GdMNcey2

I might do it if I have time later but probably not.
>>
>>3291152
What kind of infographic?
>>
>>3291771
Like /lit/ has with all those book recommendations, cover and title, with the sorting system we had.

On second thought I'll probably do it in a few days.
>>
>>3291771
An informative one. Preferably in graphic form.
>>
What about I give you this?

Can someone add "The Conquer's Saga" trilogy by Kiersten White to the RecList? There's two POVs, sister and brother. The sister is annoying, but the brother is one of the best characters (who happens to be gay and have a happy ending) I ever read and THERE'S NO FANART! Has anyone read the books?
>>
>>3292086
Sounds interesting, I'll check it out.

I want to tell you guys about GREENWODE by Tullos Hennig. I was not prepared for how good this series is. I had to restart the second I finished it.
And for some reason it's not widely known?? Beautiful writing and the FEELS man. and it's HOT
sorry I can't be bothered to summarize everything, but I beg you, who is reading this, please track a file or copy down!

Heard Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom has some decent /cm/. Can anyone confirm?
>>
>>3291931
Sorry, but most of the novels there are isekai crap. Or just crap. Scum villain, MDZS e HOB are ok, and Screen partner is cute, but everything else I tried to read there was awful.
>>
>>3292711
Haven't read it myself but I've heard that too.

Are there any good /cm/ books where the pairing are guys of two different species? Like, more so then just one of them being a vampire.

Made fanart for All Quiet On The Western Front. I ship the MC and his old man friend.

Anyone got recommendation for m/m stuff in wartime? I have a thing for soldiers/military.
I've been thinking of picking up Regeneration but I don't really have the time for a trilogy.
>>
>>3293053
As Meat Loves Salt for English civil war if that counts? It's so good.
>>
>>3292912
I just ordered The Merro Tree. Maybe it fits
>>
>>3293053
if you haven't already, read 'a time to love and a time to die'. similar to all quiet, but set on the eastern front. it's probably my favourite remarque novel.

there's no mlm obviously, but hey there's wartime comradery.

how else am i going to watch people trash my book when i'm done with it?
>>
>>3293175
What's your book about?
>>
>>3293176
it's high fantasy adventure/road trip/apocalypse
with homos
>>
>>3293146
It's excellent, but man, did it feel like looking in the mirror sometimes. Some of the best character psychology in gay fiction.
>>
>>3293180
Hell yes. Can't wait!
>>
>>3293247
Yep definitely not a light read. I guess I found it so emotionally satisfying because it's so real.
>>
>>3293288
Damn, based on the reviews and the stuff you guys are saying here, I should really pick it up. Fucked up relationships are hella fun to read.
>>
>>3293247
Hopefully not too much like looking in a mirror! That would be a scary reflection..
>>
>>3293328
Only here and there, of course, but there was still more resemblance than I'd like. Fiction likes to present devotion and deep feelings as a great thing, but it's very much a double-edged sword.
>>
Anyone else read A Land Fit For Heroes?

It was refreshing to have a gay character in an actual fantasy novel that wasn't YA Adult shit. Some pretty good sex too.
>>
>>3293053
Unrelated, but anyone has some decent older man/young man recommendation? Especially if it's in workplace with the older man tutoring the young.
>>
>>3290096
Picked it up because of this thread. It's been a long time I enjoyed reading so much. I practically burned through it these past 3 days.
Will go with >>3293146 next and after that Call me by your name, I liked the movie a lot.
Thanks for rekindling my passion for reading!

Can confirm but not the focus. Mostly in book 2, het outnumbers the /cm/ but what is there is good.
>>
>>3293704
The Catch Trap? It's about circus aerialists in the 1930s; the main pair meets when they are about 15 and 20 respectively and get into a permanent relationship some years later.

>>

There's a lot of canon sexual tension between them and it's implied that Kavinsky (sunglasses) molested Ronan (shaved head) while he slept at least once. Ronan mostly holds a torch for another guy throughout the series, though.

This is what I would imagine Harry Potter fanfiction to be like. Mostly fluff, low impact, and I found pretty much everything hard to take seriously. I wouldn't recommend it, but I know some people liked it.
>>
>>3297407
I generally don't care for Rainbow Rowell. Her writing reminds me of a fat girl who posts lots of yaoi coffee shop AUs to AO3.
>>
Has anyone here read any of the Aubrey-Maturin books?
>>
>>3296786
Probably Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin or City of Night by John Rechy.

Both were depressing and the latter was boring and has aged terribly. Giovanni's Room was alright though.
>>
>>3297364
I actually haven't read the whole thing yet but I'm pretty sure Enkidu has some sort of wife-ish status. You know, greeks.
>>
>>3297737
Gilgamesh is Sumerian.
