It's been seven years but I've still got some No.6 feels
reunion will come...he promised, right?
>>3255906They need to be together...it just doesn't feel right if they're apart.
my feels right now
>>3255525Should I watch the anime or read the manga? It seems like the manga goes on a lot longer than the anime.
>>3256764Read the novels for the best and broadest experience of it. The manga is ok, though you'll still miss out on a lot of character development. The novels also have a short story collection called Beyond, that actually gives you a glimpse in what happens afterwards, so if you're looking for the full story, that's the place. Bonus points for massive feels.
Anyone else thinks Shion looked better with brown hair?
>>3257164The manga version with white hair is cute af but I can't say the same for the anime. No idea why they chose to redesign it, the whole post-wasp hairstyle doesn't look as good, way too fluffy, especially on the sides. So yes, as far as the anime design goes, short brown hair Shion is better.
i tried to read the manga but it was way darker than the anime. i got to the beginning of the correctional facility stuff but i quit because it hurt to see shion lose his mind.
>>3262587It's quite hardcore but you need to remember Nezumi is there for him (no matter what he says). Don't underestimate Shion, he's a good boy and he takes it like a hero. Also, give the books a try, they're by far the best version of the story.
This thread convinced me to read the novel, what I am in for?
>>3266649All aboard the emotional rollercoaster. Keep all hands and feels inside of the car at all times. Just dive in, these two will take care of the rest.
Stumbled upon this, can't find sauce. Looks like it's from a doujin. Does anyone know which one?
>>3270003>>3272160Sleepy clingy Nezumi is the best thing ever.
Heya fellers, is there any more stuff like No.6 out there? I really really like this equal-relationship-between-males-with-actual-chemistry theme it touches on, the only other similar show I've seen was Yuri on Ice
>>3272719Try Doukyuusei. It's pretty cute and pure.
>>3272720Cant recommend. The movie is fine, but the manga really fucks up pretty awfully later on.Also its just pure romance drama without much else going on
>>3257164I stopped watching when they changed his hair color. Did the same thing with Tokyo Ghoul when they changed Kaneki's hair.
I love this bastard.
>>3278125>the manga really fucks up pretty awfully later onWhat are we talking here? I was thinking about trying the manga.
Long hair or short (as in the LN)?
>>3305999There are so many animes where the guys hair color changes white lol its retarded to stop watching just because of that
he won't be coming back because this series is over
>>3328271That, my dear, is why fanfiction was born
>>3331653Speaking of fanfiction, does anyone have any recommendations? Could go for some reunion fics or just stuff like the Beyond short stories. Waltz was a fairly cute doujin for that matter and I also remember stumbling upon an everyday world AU, where Nezumi was a depressed celebrity and Shion just a regular guy and they were just dealing with relationship issues. Sadly cannot remember the title but it was an interesting way to look at it.
>>3305999That's a stupid reason.
>>3255525Is this worth watching? If so, what do you like about it?
>>3347409>watchingYes, it's pretty short and fast paced so you can't complain about getting bored/wasting time if you end up not liking it. To its credit, the storytelling is done well, lots of showing rather than telling/expositioning, there's a lot of impactful scenes and an interesting enough premise. My only bone to pick with it is how their relationship is depicted, that is kind of unhealthy and abusive (as opposed to the manga and LN) because it tries to adhere to BL tropes.I personally liked it but then I ended up reading the LN and it was on a whole different level, so now I'm biased as hell. Then there's the manga, which holds the upper hand as far as visuals go and also features a story closer to the novel's canon. As for things to like about it:>worldbuildingPostapocalyptic dystopian universe. War never changes, the world is now fucked and humanity's pulling a Brave New World type of deal. >plotSmart kid meets angsty rebel. They research a freak outbreak of killer insects while plotting to burn down the status quo. >charactersHave some depth to them. They do a lot of growing up, both of them. Have good chemistry. There is also canon same sex romance. >feelsBrutal. Have a box of tissues at hand, just in case.Again, I'm biased, so I'm gonna go with the 'Watch the thing but read the LN and/or manga for the best experience and full story'. Main difference is character development and relationship, which is far more wholesome and fleshed out. The ending also makes far more sense.
>>3347441>canon same sex romancenow that's what's important
>>3263086how dark is the book?
>>3349845Depends on what you're used to. I've seen a few people complaining it's too dark at times but I found it pretty balanced. There is a lot of wholesomeness to go with it.MCs are grittier, especially Shion, so I guess it shocks a lot of people coming from the anime to see him like that. There's a good reason why Nezumi says he's afraid of him. They go through far more testing experiences and they are never the same people they were two pages ago. There's a good deal of violence and death but it's amazingly well written and well paced. I suppose the darkness comes from the fact that it focuses on the psychological rather than the blood and gore. It's depressingly realistic in this regard, since neither of them is a hero and no violent act is without consequences. The book spares you none of it because one of the main themes is how the cycle of hatred/violence works, how people turn "evil" due to trauma.A lot of stuff is implied as well, especially in arcs concerning supporting characters. It shows a lot of ugly sides to the whole revolution idea, mainly that there are always innocent casualties and meaner goals at play (see: Yoming's arc). Also the occasional sexual assault reference. Then there's the whole correctional facility arc, which goes all the way but again, the emphasis is still on the psychological aspects. It's supposed to be difficult and push them to the limit, since it's a symbolic descent into hell. I'd also argue that the character development they go through there is nothing short of impressive. So all in all, given how it ends, I'd say it's more bleak than dark. Not gonna sugar coat it, it's depressing. And that's ok, because it's meant to tackle heavy themes.tl;dr Yeah, pretty fucking dark but the awesome kind of dark.
