Just not a fan of the black. It's milder than their other sauces, which makes you want to use more of it, but the smokiness is way too overbearing to be used like that. Maybe as an ingredient, but as a sauce it gets a hard pass from me.
>>
>>11983508

Of course they were homemade.
>3 cups flour
>1 tbsp kosher salt
>1 tbsp paprika
>1/2 tbsp black pepper
>1/2 tbsp white pepper
>1 tsp ground thyme
>1/2 tsp ginger
>1/2 tbsp onion powder
>1/2 tbsp garlic powder
>1/2 tsp ground mustard
>1/2 tsp celery salt
>1/8 tsp msg
Some things I don't measure exactly. I probably use heaping scoops for paprika, black pepper, garlic and onion powder, but those are the approximate amounts. Same as pic related.

Braindead autists are upset at content that isn't something they can relate to. It's a real person cooking real food, not a McDonalds menu or frozen chicken nuggets for the 100,000th time.

They'll likely leave here and head to the nearest fast food thread to shitpost about the dollar menu or the newest item, or food malls, or why they or other people are obese.

I tried to make a homemade hot pocket today. The outside is a basic white bread dough I made, and the filling is mozzarella with chopped onion, garlic, and mushroom. Next time I think I’ll let the dough proof after rolling it out to make it fluffier, but overall it turned out much better than a frozen hot pocket!

Yeah you're totally not paranoid schizophrenics.
I officially give you both permission, as a member of the /ck/ Cat Cabal, to post whatever OC threads you desire. We've implanted your necks with complimentary nano transmitters, allowing your posts to go through to 4chan's hyperspace servers, congratulations. We've also activated the Premium(tm) Self Control feature on your accounts, providing you with the ability to simply scroll past threads you don't like instead of being forced to view them against your will. You are of course also free to remain here, licking your unrelated social wounds.
>>
>>11995568
Not the person you're replying to, but I mostly like to lurk to see what people are cooking on the daily and rarely post here. The general vibe of this thread isn't to post food and get attention, just to see what everyone else is making. It sort of works like a containment thread, because otherwise you'd have a million "look what I made" posts clogging up the catalog. I don't understand why it bothers you so much.

>>
>>11983556
fuck off back to your 5guys meme thread
>>
>>11995628
I didn't realize it was the OC that people didn't like. Personally I enjoy seeing the things people make, but I see why some people don't. But again, it's better to have a designated place to show what you made and discuss it with others, in a way that's compact and easy to reply to everyone than to have them dispersed throughout the board when other's don't like this kind of thing. If other people enjoy OC, is it so bad to have one thread dedicated to it when it's so easy to just use the catalog or hide it? It's not as though these threads get that much traffic anyway, so they're rarely the first one on the board.
>>

There's nothing new here. We're just braising a chicken with some carrots, onions, herbs and spices.
I have a whole bunch of oats, though. I think I might try and have some of those with it instead of the usual rice or potatoes. We'll see.

>>11998502

Bottle of Chardonnay in there.
I'm going pretty hard on the ginger and garlic. They lose a lot of the kick when you braise them, and I was low on rosemary and thyme, so I figured this could help make up for it.

And that's that.
I did go with oats and some green beans for it. Not bad actually. The oats are quite sweet but not unpleasantly so.
I guess I might put a little bit of lemonjuice or balsamic vinegar in there next time.
>>
>>11998823
hell yeah dude
>>
>>11998823
OK. Having finished the plate my verdict is that the oats are delicious. They were kind of sweet but no more so than certain types of rice and they worked very nicely with the rich gravy.
I'm thinking I'll throw some chili peppers in there instead of green beans next time. A little heat might work better with it than something acidic. Maybe just some hole or halved rawit peppers added for the last minute of cooking.

Frozen veggies are your friends. of course its nice to have fresh veggies. but they go bad fast. and frozen veggies are actually frozen immediately and retain all the nutritional value. whereas when its fresh it begins to lose nutritional value from the moment it is removed from the farm, sits on the truck, (crosses borders), sits at your grocery store.

you get my point. hehehe

I fell asleep for a few hours with the aroma of fresh bread in the air. I had to leave right away when I woke up so I wrapped one loaf unsliced and put it in the freezer since I only had 1 spare bag, and bagged the other until I got back.

I sliced the bagged one nice and thick and put it in the freezer since I still had a loaf from earlier in the week that I pulled out of the freezer yesterday.

My new knife makes slicing much easier, and leaves almost no crumbs. My old knife mangled bread as it gnawed its way through making a huge mess.

I may try a batch of hotdog buns tonight if I can find a good recipe. Next week I'll try something different.

I didn't realize that. I did some googling and couldn't come up with a good consensus as to how long to bake this and what temperature. Taste was on point. I did a honey mustard glaze and the meat was very much like turkey/chicken. Definitely overcooked though. Like chewing on rubber.

I scaled up a bread machine recipe to 1.5x to have enough dough to bake 2 loaves in the oven using 9" x 5" pans. I also reduced the sugar from the original recipe. The 1x scale recipe works well in my Zojirushi, but with the thicker bottom crust typical with bread machines.

1.5x Recipe
>341 g Water
>111 g Milk
>671 g Flour
>65 g Butter (softened)
>30 g Sugar
>14 g Salt
>2.25 teaspoons yeast

Mix / first rise in bread machine. For the Zojirushi that means hitting cancel 20 minute before the completion of the dough cycle. I let the bread machine handle the preheating of the liquids so I'm not sure how warm they should be if your machine doesn't do that / you prepare it by hand.

Divide, place in pans, cover and let rise in a warm place for 60 to 80 minutes or until dough is 1 to 2" above lip of pan. In case you don't have 2 loaf pans I'll mention that the dough that went into each pan weighed about 610 g.

Rather than describe how to prepare dough to go into pan I'll just refer you to this video that I watched. The folding before placing in pan is shown at 1:20.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGb-hwg2OaU

Start oven preheating to 375 about 20 minutes before the rise finishes, so you don't let the bread rise too far.

Bake about 26 minutes. At 26 minutes an instant read thermometer read 203F for my loaves. Remove from pan and let cool on a rack.

The 1x recipe suitable for baking in a bread machine is:
>227 g Water
>74 g Milk
>447 g Flour
>43 g Butter (softened)
>20 g Sugar
>9 g Salt
>1.5 teaspoons yeast
>>
>>12013613
My "warm place" for pan rising was my oven with a pan full of water I boiled in an electric kettle placed at the bottom. The house is pretty cold this time of year.

I'm baking hot dog buns now. Small goof on dividing the dough, was supposed to make 18 pieces but ended up with 16. The bigger problem was that I didn't know how to space them on the baking sheet. I went with 12 on a half sheet, but that gave them too much room to spread out. Next time I'll go with 14 or 16.

I mixed the dough by hand. Its a very wet dough so I'll use the stand mixer next time.
