Any opinions on LouGraves' newest video? The one with the Meta coat bleach.
Personally I think it's a fun diy. It looked like the coat was on it's way to death, but the wacky bleach job gave it a new life, hidding the damage.

What's with non-US sellers putting their prices in usd lately? Is that the standard on LM and did they forget to edit it?
>>
>>10252434
Personally I do it because I live in a small country which has its own currency (so not EUR or USD), and since a lot of people who buy from me are American it's just easier that way. When I do get a buyer from my own country I usually ask if I can invoice them in our currency, and make it a little less than what the currency converter I use says it should be.
>>
>>10252436
The sellers I'm talking about also invoice me in USD even though I'm not American. Lacemarket converts the prices to USD automatically if they're logged in and paypal's conversion rates are likely higher than the one you're using.

>>
>>10253146
>I wonder where are the brand goes.
I think many japanese lolitas don't put a lot of worth into old stuff. There was a link for TM socks in DD thread and these were dirt cheap despite being brand new. Probably, some pieces don't get on sale because their owners think nobody would like them.

I feel so bad for her. I’d be devastated if I lost my whole wardrobe in a fire. It’s weird that people want to donate money to help rebuild her wardrobe though.
>>
>>10253082
There was nothing I was interested in for a few months, but in the last month I’ve found two dream dresses and another dress which was such a good deal I threw it in as well. It’s good for my budget to have a few quieter months and then one busier month, so I don’t feel that bad about less items coming up daily.
>>
>>10253170
And here people mock others for selling broken items. Personally I love broken/damaged things because I love fixing them up
>>
>>10253089
You have to realise that the people who have been buying brand while you're in a dry spell might not have your aesthetic taste, therefore stuff that you overlook is a good deal/something they want. Or that their budget for individual pieces is higher so they can afford to buy loads of things while you're thinking "well this is slow, everything is too high for what it is".

It's been a dry spell for me too.

Good thing renters insurance and home insurance is mandatory.
>>
>>10253682
Is it in Japan? If so, that is really smart.
In my country it isn't, wished it was but the only mandatory insurance here is health insurance.
I have several insurances, including one for my home that covers the goods + fire damage but some people have no insurance and bitch when their house burns down or their shit gets stolen. It's not even expensive to have your home/apartment insured, prices start from a few euro's ffs.
>>
>>10253082
It's beem bad for a while.

I really miss places like usagiyouhinten and fururun, and also mbok in its golden days back in 2010-2013 (for those who remember). Closetchild and grandbazaar also used to have a much better selection up until around 2016. And now yahoo auctions finally hits the nail in the coffin as it seems.

I miss the days when some older MM or JetJ popped up every other day. Now it's like every few months, and mercari and fril are so competitive, I stopped bothering at some point.

This is why I keep pushing my local lolita stores. very true. At least she's growing up in the digital age, meaning things like documents and photos would all be on computers/digital/hopefully on a cloud somewhere, and could be gotten back.

I bought things from Btssb/Aatp Paris because it really was convenient and a nice store. Meanwhile buying from AP Japan and paying the customs and taxes and shipping, is often cheaper than buying from AP paris.
>>
>>10254513
That's gorgeous
>>
>>10254545
what about price range in Baby Paris tho? was it as expensive?
>>
>>10254551
I can't speak for Paris, but in America the stores don't charge a direct one-to-one exchange rate price and it often costs more then buying from Japan. I don't know why, but I am assuming Paris might have done the same. For the US I notice like a $10-$25 price swing difference but for me, now that EMS shipping is $20 at minimum, it's not that much of a difference.
>>
>>10253082
It feels very slow when you're actively looking for something and checking several times a day. But actually there is much more than when I started wearing lolita.
>>
>>10254555
The difference in Paris is much higher, people say because the location next to the Louvre is very expensive.

>>10254551
The prices of Btssb in Paris a were a bit higher than Japan, but not such a big difference as AP has. So buying from Btssb Paris was still worth it because you avoid taxes and customs.

>>

They regularly pop up on mercari, gxb.
>>
>>10254882
They don't pop up often and they sell out quite quickly, especially when they're underpriced like this. I've tried to buy one several times.

There are some uglier ones that also have the key that are easier to buy though

If my wardrobe was gone, I would not bother reobtaining the exact same pieces. Maybe I'd try to track down a couple of dream dresses and a few favourite items, but the majority would be new. 11 years in not the age when you have life-long attachments to a piece of clothing.

Of course losing all your belongings in a fire is a tragedy and rebuilding a lolita collection is not on the top of the list of priorities anyway.

I’m having one hell of a time with one buyer on lacemarket. It’s it really that hard to include the PayPal email and to state your address in the message so I can calculate your invoice I need to send? This has happened for like 2 of my recent sales.

Lacemarket gives you that info when they buy your listing

When someone buys the listing just send an invoice to the PayPal email address provided by lace market, if it’s not verified that’s nit the end of the world. As for their shipping address, you’re required by PayPal to mail it to their physical address on there, so what they tell you via LM message doesn’t matter. Never ever ever mail anything to an address other than what PayPal lists or you they can say they never received it and get a refund.
As far as estimating shipping, if you haven’t set that price when you listed the item then that’s your fault. I decide mine ahead of time. I know what the package weighs before I post the listing, then I go on the usps website and use the calculate tool to estimate the cost of shipping to a city I randomly picked that’s on the complete opposite side of the country. That price is the domestic price I list. Besides, once it’s farther than a couple hundred miles it’s all mostly the same price within a dollar or so, just estimates conservatively. Most people won’t begrudge a dollar and if they agreed to purchase without knowing the cost ahead of time then they have no grounds to complain.
Bottom line, you sound like a nightmare seller. Even if you want your buyer to message you there’s no reason you can’t get the transaction completed through paypal invoicing. Stop being a baby and expecting your buyers to hold your hand. You’re an adult, goddamn it, know how to find information on your own.

Can't decide my feelings about this one. It does look taobao-ish plus inevitable crosses for Halloween/ gothic-themed piece. There are so many motifs they could use instead, like fleur de lis or chandelier, but they choose using crosses over and over. At another hand I like this almost monochromatic colorway, it looks interesting and fresh. Not a fan of trend for grey dresses, but I like it in this one.

They finally gave me the email for their PayPal and addresses matched. They literally just bought the item and said “ where’s my invoice” to an email account that had no PayPal association. This was probably the hardest sale I have had for a 20 dollar blouse with a buyer that knew fuck all about buying from lace market and how it works. They literally had no information for me to process the purchase from. They are under 2 months old, have no feedback, and didn’t know how to buy online. You ask them for answer to help them learn how to properly process an order and they danced around the answers instead of just saying “ oh yeah, it’s this and this” like the rest of my sales have done. No this person kept playing the “ how do I know you invoiced me?” And “ how do I use PayPal? You can’t just send it to me via gmail email?”

I'm curious. What are your thoughts on lolita youtubers generally? It seems like it's kind of frowned upon sometimes but I wonder if that's directed towards the specific personalities or if it's producing lolita youtube content overall that's not really received well. Are there some that you enjoy? or any lolitas that you actually wish made youtube videos?
>>
>>10255538
I'm really sad for Milkbox leaving lolita. I've used to love her videos.
>>
>>10255538
>if that's directed towards the specific personalities or if it's producing lolita youtube content overall that's not really received well
Probably the former, I don’t see why anyone would have an issue with the very existence of lolita YT content.

Personally I dislike content creators who are clearly in it to be a Content Creator (i.e. for the e-fame) rather than because they enjoy creating and sharing their specific content. Think of those people who post here or on RC saying they want to create a YT channel but need other people to tell them what kind of videos to make. How can you want to make videos yet have no video ideas of your own? Answer: they don’t really care about making videos, they just want the prestige (or whatever) of being a lolita YTer. Channels like that are bound to be super boring.

I like event vlogs and wish there were more good ones out there, but at the same time I know that a lot of lolitas don’t like being filmed so it must be difficult to get a good impression of the whole event while avoiding getting many attendees on film.
>>
>>10255538
I think the problem is, most of the content is either for beginners, focussed too much around the youtuber instead of the subject of the video or is just watching someone consume with 0 creative thought put into it. Which also summs up the current state of or community and its subculture aspect lol.
>>
>>10255544
This, all of this.
>>
>>10253316
11 years old and has lolita, huh?? Glad she and her family are okay but lol at the people on Twitter who want to donate to a GoFundMe. They don't need financial help if their eleven year old has a bunch of lolita stuff.
>>
>>10255548
They just lost all their possessions to fire, probably including basic things like beds and casual clothes too; even if the family is financially stable they may not have a paycheck coming until a month later or maybe the girl saved to buy those pieces over time or got them as gifts and they aren't rich or anything and can't afford new versions of everything they owned immediately.

Lolita isn't cheap but it also is not so expensive that you must be rich to afford it or can't get it at all as a preteen, especially in Japan where access is better and secondhand stuff goes for cheap.

What a salty poorfag you must be if you think owning lolita makes everyone able to afford to instantly recover from a devastating home fire.

Lol how new are you anon? These are sample pics. Of course the jsk comes in grey and every other color the OP is shown, and vice versa.
>>
>>10255461
I get that grey is a growing trend in lolita right now but no one wants grey with every fucking colorway. It just makes the print look dead and lifeless and lack detail. It looks great on black though, that will definitely be the hard to get one.
>>
>>10255548
>as if buying secondhand lolita in Japan isn't ridiculously cheap
>>
>>10255542
I dont think she left lolita, she must seems to not do a lot of videos and isn't so thirsty for lolita efame. She still wears it on her insta.

>>10255538
Lolita YouTube content is definitely not received well. First of all it's a very niche interest so that limits your audience. Second, most of that audience probably instantly dislikes you from the beginning over some sort of jealousy. God forbid you are not perfectly cute or pretty. Then you have to earn their likes and eventual dislikes when you are a little too popular. Most of them do unboxing which are boring af and also 101 videos which actual lolitas dont care about.

I miss the time of blogs when people who actually knew a lot about the fashion and had a lot of interesting things to say. They didn't even need to post their face but their writing and coords and photos used would speak for themselves. People didn't feel the need to bash their looks and it was just a lot less intimidating while adding a lot of value to the community.

I have been in the fashion for a decade and I have a lot of things I'd love to share, diys, advanced tips, actually interesting observations and topics but I dont want to be in the cesspool of wannabe efameous lolitas, and also I know nobody will read any blogs these days.

>>
>>10255590
It’s not creepy if you know who she is by watching a wardrobe post of hers and have a brain. Unless you’re mentally retarded it’s super easy to figure out who’s who on LM if they are mildly known.
>>
>>10255538
I have no problem with Lolita YouTubers and would welcome more content, but I honestly feel like there's not a whole lot left to cover.
It's a very visual fashion and... not much else, which doesn't exactly leave a lot to talk about.
Everybody and their dog has done "tip" and "how-to" videos, at this point the pool is oversaturated and it only really applies to beginners. A seasoned Lolita has no use for such guides.
Same goes for GRWM and unboxings, this is a fashion subculture so it makes sense but there's SO MANY of them and a lot of lolitas who do them lack the charisma/equipment to make them mildly interesting.
One could talk about new releases, but, again, it would take somebody with charisma and who'd be able to talk about different substyles, since as it stands most people are sweet.
More event coverage would be great but a lot of people just vlog them so 80% of the video ends up being their face.
an untapped genre is DIYs, but nobody does them, most likely because they take actual effort.
Some of the discussion videos people have made have been interesting but even that's getting stale. "Oh wow, ANOTHER video about ddlg? Groundbreaking."
I appreciate some of the new ideas people have tried to bring in, like Jo's active Lolita, or Tyler's videos about old magazine snaps, but something like the latter is just not interesting and I'll admit I haven't watched a video of hers in months because of it. It's not their fault that it's boring, and them trying new ideas
at all shouldd be celebrated, but it kind of brings me back to the point of there just not being enough left to talk about when it comes to Lolita.
>>

your identity shouldn't matter at all, anon.
you should join the comm, read the rules, and talk to a few members in the facebook or whatever the platform is. lolita communities are about fashion. if you are serious about the fashion and looking beautiful and put-together with other enthusiasts you should be good. just be mindful of your behavior. there are certain pitfalls ahead if you're not in consistent analysis of how your early socialization might affect you growing connections in the comm. Let everything you do come from joy and respect for yourself and others and you should be fine!
>>
>>10255625

>>
>>10256072
You're the only other person I've noticed who thinks that too. I love her postcard art but it translates horribly onto actual dresses. AP should try to make the dresses reflect the cute feeling of the sketches with better proportion prints and cuts
>>
>>10256077
I think because she’s worked with AP for so long and she’s an “iconic” artist for the fashion that people really want to support her collabs and a lot of people end up buying them because of the ~prestige~ of owning a print by her. But >>10255461 is absolutely horrendous. I really don’t see how people can defend it. There are floral MPs make specifically for winter so... not bad at all? You can wear something not specifically for winter too, just coordinate it appropriately for the season. It’d be weirder if you wore something like sugar dream dome in the summer than florals in the winter.

Ok retard, but I addressed that already. Just coord it appropriately, IE long sleeved blouse + tights etc.
>>
>>10256063
Would do this if any brands, taobao or japanese, I don’t even care would make things I like.

New ETC print is out

This is gorgeous but I feel like I could probably make my own for a quarter of the price. I know this is a luxury fashion and I have several dresses I paid over 1k for, but at least I can get dressed at home then leave for an event. You’d have to throw this in the trunk and then put it on once you reach your destination and then take it off when you leave. It’s more like an expensive prop rather than a clothing item.
>>
>>10256754
Shit, I want It.
>>
>>10256754
IS It sold out? I went to the webshop and could only find the non-velvet version.
>>
>>10256912
It has shinjuku limited written in the picture, not webshop limited. Anyway when something sells out quickly they often re-stock or re-release it.
>>
>>10256928
>It has shinjuku limited written in the picture, not
Oh, you're right, my bad. Thanks for answering, tho
>>
>>10256645
Don't love the fabric but in another print this would be great
>>
WW just added a few “happy packs” aka more Dangerous Nude shit that won’t sell. Each pack lists the contents so make sure you check it out before you make a purchase.
>>
>>10255930
If only this didn't have the text or fucking crosses. This colorway is speaking to me...
>>
>>10255576
This. I kept finding $50-79 secondhand brand in second hand shops while in Tokyo.
>>
>>10257024
Where? Apart from closetchild.
>>
>>10255461
Closeup is actually very pretty tho. I predict that it might become a new CTP. Although I’m still bothered with crosses all around.
>>
>>10256353
Remember when AP made cake hats to sell and didn’t use them as photoshoot props? Pepperidge farm remembers.
>>
>>10257066
You have never been to japan and it shows.
>>
>>10257072
That's like bdsm cat with the harness and everything, how strange
>>
>>10257083
Nobody cares you've been to Japan, the country sucks, we just want to know the names of the shops so we can find their twitter or webshop
>>
>>10257089
Wow, so bitter
>>
>>10257089

That's really going to make people spoon-feed you, whiny baby.
>>
>>10256081
>I hate the hurrdurr taobao meme, but this LITERALLY looks like something taobao would put out
I love how someone says this with practically every Taobao-esque release.
>>
>>10257089
>give me info that could saturate the market you're interested in while I also insult you
Haha nope. How entitled can you be? I hope they don't respond.
>>
>>10257083
I'm literally there right now so great detective work, sherlock
>>
>>10257140
I think anon is full of shit, the only way you are getting brand for that price in Japan is if it's old barely loliable brand (salopettes, cutsew dresses, mini skirts) or at a bookoff or other non lolita thrift store
>>
>>10256645
>same cut as Marie Rose and Elise Rose but with long sleeves for winter
OH FUCK YES TAKE MY MONEY
>that fabric
OH FUCK NO GIVE IT BACK

They have this fabric too though which I'm a sucker for.

I hate the trend of their winter dresses not having lining though. It's getting to the point where FINT drapes better on me than the $250 dress by IW, which is tragic.
>>
>>10257164
Iw quality sucks now and it's tragic.
Someone on Insta was complaining about how bad their sewing was, but their reply to her was that it's just a "spec".
If they don't even admit that it's bad then they really don't deserve my money.
>>
>>10257097
>>10257103
>>10257126
I'm not the anon who asked it, I just think her reply was weirdly arrogant, like you've accomplished something if you went to Japan lol
>>
>>10257175

Seriously.

If this release ends up being thin cotton with no lining I'm just going to give up on them. There's no way I'm going to order 500 dollars worth of stuff if it's going to be a gamble, I might as well just do taobao at that point.
>>
>>10257164
This is the only cute colourway. The blue floral is ugly too sadly.
>>
>>10257197
This is why I only buy IW on sale nowadays
>>
>>10256606
lol I'm the opposite. I want tulle lace to kick rocks and cluny and torchon to rise again.
>>10256645
wish the circles had a lace trim or other embellishment in the print. looks like a vat of eyeballs from afar
>>
>>10256645
Looks like fried eggs
>>
>>10257225
I like the blue floral a lot but something about it isn’t as good as the pink. Sad that I dont suit pink.

I hadnt noticed their quality going downhill, does anyone have pics? The last dress I bought from them was lined
>>
>>10257175
What brands have maintained quality the best?
>>
>>10257315
Baby and Meta, hands down.
Meta is #1
>>
>>10257389
>baby
Sure, if you mean maintaining terrible quality.
>>
>>10257197
The description says if there's a lining. This one doesn't, the plaid dress I wish didn't does iirc
>>
>>10257315
I don't really understand what anon meant by innocent world's quality decreasing since they are still great imo. Baby is as bad as ever and AP has decreased a little but I don't buy much AP to be fair
>>
>>10257437
Funny, I have a ~2011-12 Baby lucky pack set and the quality is great. No loose threads, super even stitching, centred bows, nice thick cotton.
>>
>>10257437
>>10257440
Yeah, I don't get why people say that about Baby. Their textured fabric is gorgeous and feels very luxurious imo
>>
>>10257389
the meta jsks I’ve had were the worst quality of any brand.
>>
>>10257512
most of my favorite pieces are by them. their quality is usually solid.
>>10257552
seconded. all of my meta is garbo
>>
>>10257719 new thread
